Overview
Part ranch, part surfer hangout, part yoga retreat and all magic. This is the sort of place where you come for a few days of relaxing and end up staying for a couple of months. You’ll soon be on first-name terms with the donkeys, goats and any other guests at this sociable spot. You can even meet the cattle and forage in the vegetable garden, before you head off to hike and surf in the warm sunshine, with the saltwater pool on hand for cooling off when you get back. For longer day trips, the neighbouring villages have some great places to eat, the La Breña Natural Park is 5,000 hectares of adventure and there are unspoilt beaches scattered all along the coast.
When you return home pleasantly tired your stilt cabin is a cool, shaded refuge to stretch out in. There are two double bedrooms, a modern bathroom in the cabin and a big lounge and kitchen area that blends with the deck to make one giant loafing space. There really is nothing like sitting out with a beer at the end of the day and watching the sun on the sea to chill you out, but if you’re still managing to carry some tension, then talk to owner Nika about arranging a little yoga or a massage. One way or another, you’re going home relaxed. If you go home at all.

Places to visit

- Visit the neighbouring towns and villages of Vejer, Conil, Barbate, Cádiz and Chiclana.
- La Breña Natural Park offers a great diversity of landscapes in more than 5,000 hectares. The most representative ecosystems are marine systems, cliffs, pine groves, marshes, and dunes. It is a place designated as a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) and proposed as a Site of Community Importance (SCI).
- El Tajo de Barbate is an impressive cliff where you will find one of the viewing towers that in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries warned about pirate ships and later witnessed the Battle of Trafalgar. The Stone Pine is the predominant species in La Breña. It was used in the early twentieth century to repopulate the area, and now it protects the soil and fixes the dunes. As for the fauna, the most notable species is the fragile chameleon, and one of the reasons why La Breña was declared a natural park. You can find different birds -such as the kestrel, the owl or the osprey- and Retinto cattle: cows with a dark red layer, and that you can see grazing freely in front of the coast.
- Los Caños de Meca is located at the centre of the triangle formed by Barbate, Conil and Vejer de la Frontera. It is just 4 km from el Palmar. There are plenty of good restaurants and a lovely Saturday market called Levante with organic food and a lovely bred shop. Camaleon Campsite's restaurant is always a good choice for having lunch on the terrace and trying the classic roasted chicken or the retinto burgers. A family atmosphere and good food complemented by live music or an outdoor movie. In Los Caños there is an excellent variety of restaurants to have a snack or a long dinner under the moonlight. If you want to try the local fish and meat, in Cerveceria de la Meccarola they serve delicious grilled skewers, and if you want to discover new exotic flavors, you can't leave without having dinner at Jaima Restaurant, and its international cuisine served in its Moorish style terrace overlooking the ocean. To try a good Pescaíto Frito (fried fish), you can go to Cervecería Al Sur, a restaurant very close to the campsite. And if you like walking, you can visit Los Castillejos Restaurant, named after the area, or La Breña, an option with more elaborate dishes. But if you don't want to stray from the campsite, we also recommend the Sirloin steak of El Antojo in the area of La Aceitera.
- And in Zahora beach, there is Arohaz Restaurant and its signature cuisine, Sajorami Restaurant and its beautiful terrace with many years of history in Los Caños, and Amarna, one of the new restaurants in the area with views of the horizon.
- Conil, just 15 kilometers from Los Caños, is one of the White Towns located by the sea. A place of interest for its huge beach, the coves of Roche, and its nightlife.
- Crossing La Breña pine grove, 10 kilometers away, you will find Barbate, where you can enjoy its rich gastronomy based on tuna. We recommend visiting its peculiar wholesale market. Mercado de Abastos.
- Vejer de la Frontera is a MUST!!! A White Town full of narrow streets and patios with geraniums, where you can easily see the influence of different civilizations, especially the Islamic. Vejer has a really beautiful elegant vibe and is filled with lovely shops, cafe and artisan shops, life concerts and there are numerous lovely restaurants, bars and shops. Ask Nika for restaurant recommendations.
- Zahara de Los Atunes is a small town surrounded by almost unspoiled white sand beaches. Playa de Los Alemanes and the beach that is hidden behind the Camarinal Lighthouse are some of the most beautiful places in the area. From the latter, you can make a wonderful excursion to Playa de Bolonia one of our very favorites), where you can also find the ruins of the Roman city of Baelo Claudia, a must for archeology lovers. And once you get there, we recommend visiting the town of Tarifa, right after Punta Paloma beach.
- The capital of windsurfing and kitesurfing is less than 45 minutes away from EL PALMAR.

- The windswept coastline make the perfect spot for surfing, paddle boarding, wind and kite surfing. El Palmar is located 5km north of Vejer and is the Surf capital of Andalucia
