Overview
It may be called The Warren and it may have an earth roof, but dark and musty it most certainly is not. The huge glass frontage floods the space with light and there’s plenty of room for everyone to stretch out. When the weather’s good, you can fire up the BBQ and get the hot tub bubbling, but even if it’s wet there’s the big round bath in the wetroom, huge sofas and a swinging basket chair for lounging in. Two of the double bedrooms face out to the hills and the third is at the back, with a spare single bed. The kitchen is impeccably equipped and even comes with curious sheep who’ll peer in while you wash up.
The farm’s 300 acres are yours to explore, with a stream for paddling and mini beast hunts, as well as trails that lead off for miles into the hills. You might meet guests at sister space The Burrow as you stroll about, but no facilities are shared and you’re unlikely to bump into them unless you head over to visit. For bigger hikes than the walk down to the stream, choose from the Offa’s Dyke path, the dams of the Elan Valley or the mountainous Brecon Beacons, washing the day’s mud off in the cool outdoor shower when you get back. You’ll find good shops for sampling local produce in nearby Knighton or Presteigne, as well as some fabulous pubs in the area. The Harp, about 11 miles away in Old Radnor, is a lovely old longhouse with a stunning hilltop setting, while The Lion at Lentwardine was named Best Pub in Shropshire in 2020. Neither are walkable though, so the temptation is simply to pick up a bottle of something and hide away in The Warren, soaking into the peace and bubbles of the tub.

Meet Tom and Amy
The Burrow and The Warren are situated on Dolassey farm which is run by Tom, his graphic designer wife Amy and their two small children. Tom built the majority of both spaces himself, including some of the furniture for example, the kitchen table. The farm has been in the family for over 35 years.
They live close to The Burrow and The Warren and can be on hand should you need anything.
Wildlife & the environment
Dolassey is a working farm, so there will be plenty of sheep and cows from the family flock/herd. There is opportunity to see badgers, foxes, deer, rabbits, hedgehogs, squirrels and other small mammals. There is a pool with wild geese, ducks, moore hens and the occasional heron and otter (varies through the seasons.) Being surrounded by trees, you will most likely see a variety of birds too.

Absolutely amazing, exceeded my expectations. The pictures actually didn’t do it justice, it was a lot bigger than we thought so we were all very comfortable. And we were pleasantly surprised with a Christmas tree when we got there. It’s honestly was the perfect Christmas!
23/12/2024Erik
It was perfect - we loved it.

Cheeky weekend away and the warren was perfect for this, wasn’t your standard holiday house. The whole family loved it, hopefully back soon!
10/11/2023Antony

We had a fantastic stay at The Warren. It was well laid out and very family friendly as we have 3 children. The hot tub and the swing chair were a great hit with the kids. The decor and styling are fabulous and everything has been thought of. It was so peaceful we only ventured out one of the days. There is a great paddling stream and lots to explore.
29/05/2023Preetal
It was perfect, all the little touches that the owners put in made a huge difference, it felt homely and modern, felt very safe and was the perfect location for relaxing.
22/05/2023Megan
Upon arrival the place was spotless, warm and welcoming. Everything was perfect
24/03/2023Chloe
Absolutely loved it. So beautiful to wake up in the morning and see the hills beyond. We met the goats. Had lovely walks nearby and climbed hills and rolled down them. Everything we needed was there for a wonderful weekend away
17/03/2023Sam
Our stay was incredible! The Warren went above and beyond in all aspects - from the furnishing & appliances to the outdoor shower, hot tub, and lovely windows overlooking the lovely Welsh sheep fields. There was not a detail out of place. We would return to the Warren in a heartbeat!

We booked the warren well in advance as a family weekend away to celebrate my fortieth birthday. When we arrived, it had the wow factor from first sight. Absolutely beautiful lodge!! The interior was gorgeous, the views were stunning, we had some sheep come and visit us at the kitchen window each day, so sweet. The hot tub was great, and the fire pit lovely. The grounds are really well maintained and we were so lucky to have glorious sunshine all weekend so we made the most of the lodge and it’s garden and never left for the whole of our stay. The lodge was very clean. We loved the outdoor shower too! Will definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family. Thank you for a memorable weekend of relaxation, fun and laughter! We loved the Warren in every way. The location was perfect, we all enjoyed the hot tub and the styish interior was real luxury. Although the other lodges are close by we didn't hear or see another person.
27/05/2022Dawn
A lovely, relaxing break in beautiful surroundings & a quite magical cabin.
18/04/2022Andrew
We were completely blown away by The Warren, the website pictures do not do the size of the place justice. The open space living area is huge and the views incredible. Particularly loved the back window where we saw many inquisitive lambs popping by to say hi which the kids loved. The decor and fixtures were all to a very high standard and made for a wonderful combination of luxury and being at one with nature. The surrounding location was beautiful with wonderful doorstep walks further into the Welsh countryside and many little villages and places to visit. We enjoyed the owl sanctuary for the kids and Ludlow castle and village. The owners allowed for complete privacy but were on hand to help with anything we needed and incredibly friendly. It was a perfect peaceful and relaxing family break away and we would love to come back again!
04/04/2022Natalie
The cabin was wonderful, even in the bad weather. Just the right size for our group and the perfect space to socialise. Loved the views, outdoor shower, hot tub and decor.

A lovely, relaxing and comfortable stay at The Warren.

What an amazing place. The house itself was immaculate, decorated and kitted out extremely well. The outdoor shower was fantastic...I didn't use the indoor one the entire time I was there. The hot tub was great...put all this in an extremely private and tranquil setting and you haven't got anything to complain about. A short drive from a few really nice little towns, some great places to eat (a lot of them recommended from the owners). My only gripe was we couldn't bring our dog...but you're on a working farm and you know this before booking so not really a complaint point. Place was very child friendly however with nice enclosed garden and plenty of sheep and rabbits for him to look at! I don't often go to the same place twice, but I'd definitely stay here again.
21/06/2021Matt
Absolutely fabulous! Even better than the photos. Had an amazing time. Such a special home in a very peaceful and relaxing setting.

This was magical from start to finish. Amy and Tom were so INCREDIBLY communicative, kind and helpful which makes the holiday start even before we got there. On arrival the Warren looked, if possible, even more beautiful than the images online. Toby (6) kept running around rolling on the carpets going "Just feel how soft it is! Now try your bed Mummy and Daddy!" The beanbags were so comfortable we ordered 2 of the same while we were there - I never wanted to get out of them ever. The welcome hamper and wildflowers were a lovely touch, of course. Part of the magic was that the design of the place meant all the sheep came right up close whther we were cooking, reading or playing cards and it was just so lovely. The kitchen was good and reliable - thre was a real feeling of space for the four of us and plenty of places to chill out. The hot tub (the childrens first) was a massive hit and was spent at least 45 minutes per day in. The beds were really comfortable too. It was great feeling like we were also very much in our own space, even out of the way of the burrow. It was awesome to go walking on the farm and meet the friendly dogs, cat and chikens. Amy went out to get us scales!!!

We had the most amazing stay in the warren. The property was absolutely gorgeous in a wonderful location. We managed to see the stars for a few hours one night and we have never seen the night sky so vivid and beautiful. It was really amazing and we even managed to see a few shooting stars. The outdoor shower was a treat on a cold morning. As was the huge bath with walk in shower. One of the highlights was waking up to sheep poking their head through the fence to eat the grass beside our bedroom door. My favourite UK escape to date by miles!

A brilliant stay; stunning location, beautiful property and a lovely hot tub to enjoy after a day of walking! Amy and Tom (the owners) were helpful and left a lovely welcome package. Property was clean and stunningly presented. Loved the small touches like wood for the fire and the picnic table by the stream. We are already talking about rebooking! Highly recommended.
