Overview
Cefncoed isn’t overlooked by anything, and with its 1000ft elevation, the views are stunning and private (other than a happy visit from the owner’s labrador). So when you whip out the cast iron pan for the firepit, and get cooking up the local fare – you’ll be eating out on the deck with nothing but the wild around you, and if a post lunch sway on the swing doesn’t entice you, you can get started on prepping the wood burner for an evening reading by the fire.
If you’ve got time to explore whilst you’re here, the owner’s got a list of strava routes to follow to discover the local area, and you can head to Llangollen, Chirk or Froncysyllte for white water rafting, bistros and shops respectively. Hardier adventurers might well be tempted to take on the Berwyn Mountains, just under an hour away – for their lofty heights and incredible views.

Meet your hosts
Meet Bethan and the Roberts Family
They are family of four who live on Bethan's family farm! Bethan grew up here helping out on the farm and has always had a passion for the outdoors. The whole family are often out doing farm jobs together, moving sheep, checking the livestock on horseback with the sheepdog and labrador coming along for the walk too!
They love an adventure and after spending a month in New Zealand as a family in 2019 and enjoying the wide-open space with no traffic or queues, they realised they had something similar in their little corner of North Wales. They built the cabin with the idea of letting their guests escape the business of everyday life and to relax in the privacy of the space they've built.
Wildlife and Environment
The farm has been in the family for just over 30 years, they farm in the most environmentally friendly way possible – having been organic for a long time, the fields and meadows on the farm have reverted back to wildflower meadows, rich with a diversity of plants and insects.
There are red kites, buzzards, foxes and hares, mice and newts, you'll hear the calls of barn owls, tawny owls and a long-eared owl has been spotted nearby.
They are always looking for ways to enhance and preserve the wonderful habitats that exist here – they've just finished laying and planting over 200m of hedges this spring!
