Overview
From the solar panels to the reclaimed beams and lambswool insulation, this is a place in perfect harmony with its environment. Until you go inside. Here, owner Marco has brought Brazilian flair from his time in South America, filling the cabin with colourful items from Rio, Salvador, Porto de Galinhas and Paraty. Up the spiral staircase, you’ll find the mezzanine bedroom (complete with storage canoe) and downstairs the open plan kitchen and lounge space. There’s an oven with gas hobs, comfy sofa and wood-burner. Along the hall is the en suite bathroom, with flushing loo and hot shower and outside you’ll find a fire pit for late night stargazing or al fresco cookery if you’re feeling wild. The bothy is rustic and off-grid, but lighting is powered by the solar panels and there’s charging for smaller devices. You’re asked to be careful with your hot water usage and to avoid chemical shampoos and soaps. From November to February you might share the spot with grazing sheep, but other than that your nearest neighbours are over 500m away.
You could spend a few days just napping and ambling through the private woods on location or further afield Shropshire Hills AONBs or Attingham, Dudmaston - the majestic National Trust Estates with miles of hiking trails. Fabulous foodie Ludlow is only 30 minutes away if you want a treat, but there are great pubs in Quatford and Bridgnorth too, with The Danery and The King’s Head a couple of local favourites for food, beer and atmosphere. Finish the day back at the bothy, with backgammon and cards or just staring at the fire in companionable silence.

What an amazing property in an amazing setting, everything you could wish for and NO neighbours!

Lovely 3 nights break with fantastic weather. It helps when you can witness lovely sunrises and sunsets, but the Bothy would still work in poor weather as there is a covered outdoor area. Wildlife spotting was great, as well as great surroundings for our dog to enjoy. The facilities were excellent and we really didn't require anything else. Our communication with Fred was limited to pre- and post stay messages, which added to the sense of wild remoteness, even though we were only a few miles from Bridgnorth.

We had a lovely stay at Paraty's Bothy. The place was nice and secluded, meaning we could totally relax. Bridgenorth is not far away at all - handy for needing to pick up a few items and popping in for wander around. The house is kitted out with the essentials.

Me, my fiancée and pet spaniel stayed at the Bothy over the long weekend. We were really impressed with how well stocked and equipped the accommodation was. Gas cooker, plenty of utensils and kitchenware, shower, proper bathroom, comfy snuggler and fire place. It has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking to a romantic trip away for couples that are into the outdoors. It’s super remote and secluded. Just be careful as there is a hill leading into the Bothy. Cars with a high clearance would be recommended.

We needed a break! Life had caused it's usual stresses and Paraty's Bothy provided the perfect cure. Switched off, beautiful surroundings and freedom provided by the owners to explore as we wanted. Thank you so much for this little mini-break, we really benefitted from it!

Perfect stay. We really had such an amazing time. Everything was there what we needed and owners were very helpful if we needed anything, good communication. Very quiet and cute place to stay.

We loved the place and the lovely countryside. We went to lovely villages and interesting museums.

Paraty's Bothy was absolutely incredible. It was really relaxing and in a beautiful location. Our 10 month old puppy loved it and it was a great place to unwind. There loads of walks nearby and the Bothy has incredible views. Would recommend for anyone whose looking for a peaceful escape. One of my best holidays. The Bothy is surrounded by private fields and woodland so it was lovely to be able to go on early morning walks so peaceful.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful! Every inch of detail was utter perfection and ideal for what we needed. We loved how private it felt and yet so close to Bridgenorth which has lots to offer. It was perfect for being able to switch off and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Fantastic break in the peaceful Shropshire countryside. The bothy had all the home comforts, log burner, gas cooker, fir pit for the chilly evenings. Our two German shepherds were in their element. They could run free close to the bothy but we had to keep them on leads for walks in the woods as there were young pheasants around. thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we will be back.

Very very restful. Lovely quiet location in which to escape the madness of the world, yet near enough to lovely towns and countryside. We loved the cosiness of the Bothy, it felt restful the moment we arrived. We could have spent all our time relaxing on the veranda.
18/08/2021Sharon
We received vouchers as a gift and chose the bothy as it was in a peaceful location and allowed dogs. We thought the ‘quirky’ style was different and liked that we would have lots of outdoor space.
16/08/2021Laura
It was a lovely couple of days chilling in the bothy. it is very well set up for indoor and outdoor relaxing what ever the weather.

I have no negative comments to make. It was a wonderful, relaxing stay. There was everything we needed. The cooker and 4hobs were more than sufficient, the cooler box was plenty large enough, we didn't run out of electricity, gas or hot water. The bed and sofa were very comfortable. The Bothy is cosy and quirky and the walks around the ancient woodland were great. We used the fire pit one evening and sat out under the canopy the other nights. Close to amenities such as Aldi (5 minute drive away), Sainsbury's, and the town of Bridgnorth. A decent pub and quality farmshop a few minutes drive. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely visit again. Good, friendly communication with the owners. Loved it!

Paraty's Bothy was a perfect rural idil. We were happy and relaxed the whole time with a variety of walks from the door and all the comforts we needed in the bothy to relax and recuperate from our adventures. We liked the sustainability of the project and enjoyed the feeling of conserving energy and water supplies.
18/06/2021Maria
We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely stay again. The Bothy was beautifully decorated but also really cosy and comfortable, hosts were great and checked in to make sure we were ok and were really helpful if we needed anything. Location was beautiful, we would highly recommend Paraty's Bothy.

We booked to have a peaceful break in the countryside. We were not disappointed. Paraty's Bothy was excellent and just want we needed. The location is wonderful, being private and feeling remote yet it's very close to Bridgnorth to get food and supplies. The Bothy's facilities provided a nice level of 'off-grid' comfort with hot water and flushing toilet. You can really see that Marco has gone to great efforts to build this sustainable accommodation and the décor provides a lovely personal touch. We cooked food on the BBQ and also used to gas cooker - both worked well. We also lit a fire in the log burner on our first night - just to add to the atmosphere. It really is a beautiful place to rest and relax. Marco was also very helpful as a host. He guided us into the property when we arrived and visited mid week to fill the water. We were very impressed overall and wold love to return.
07/06/2021Sarah
We had a great stay. Loved the privacy and ability to walk around the property. Great combination of being outside in the countryside but with some home comforts.
31/05/2021Laura
Such an amazing bothy, truly in the middle of rolling fields and a private woodland nearby. The bothy had everything we needed and a little more with some tea bags, sugar, milk and butter...those vitals that you always just forget! Perfect sized kitchen, amazingly warm log burner and a comfy bed. Idyllic and perfect for some needed 'us' time.
21/05/2021Samantha
A wonderful quiet idyll, tucked away with only fields and birdsong for company. The Bothy was beautifully set up with an eclectic mix of treasures and momentos from Brazil which only added to its charm. Living “off grid” for the weekend was a balm for the soul and we both read and ate and drank and cooked marshmallows on the fire pit. If you want peace and quiet and a lovely place to stay, we would highly recommend it! Fred and Marco were welcoming and helpful and the “welcome pack” was much appreciated. Seeing the stars through the sky lights on the second night of our stay only added to a very special and wonderful few days.
14/05/2021Clare
Great communication with the owners prior to arrival and was greeted and given the grand tour. The place had everything we needed. The view was fantastic either sitting out front when it wasnt raining, or from the snug sofa enjoying the woodstove whilst watching the rain clouds roll by. We made use of the fire pit for enjoying the outdoors in the cool evenings, and were even met by some local deer passing through. Its only a short walk to a nearby woods for exploring if you feel the need to venture further from the property. The place itself had all the cooking/cleaning/washing facilities that we needed for our stay.
07/05/2021Laura
Such a tranquil spot away from everything but close to Bridgnorth, Ironbridge, gorgeous Shrewsbury and Ludlow. We absolutely loved our stay. Marco and Fred had thought of everything including a lovely hamper on our arrival. The bothy was great and we really enjoyed eating our breakfast on the sunny terrace and watching the sun go down over the hill. The sustainable credentials of the bothy were a breath of fresh air and we would definitely stay here again!
14/04/2021Lucy
My busy city mind was instantly eased as I approached the bothy, surrounded by fields and beautiful ancient trees, not another building or road in sight. I took a walk straight from the door, kicking up the autumn leaves and then came back to watch the sun set in front of the cabin casting a beautiful golden light inside. Settling in for the evening, I stoked the wood-burning stove, it took a little while to warm up, but when it did I felt very cosy and smug sat on the sofa listening to the wind and rain outside and exploring the cabin full of Brazilian trinkets which make it so colourful and full of character. This thoughtful little bothy had everything I could need for a cosy stay!
