Overview
For anyone who’s had enough of the arduous task of climbing in and out of a hot tub, Chris and Vic at Herefordshire Hideaways have sunk this one into the deck to save you the trouble. The floor-level outdoor tub, the angular lounge with the wide glass front doors and the huge bed under the equally huge skylight, all compete to be the place from which you gaze at Herefordshire’s hillsides and clear night skies after raiding the honesty fridge for some local cider.
The cabin is off-grid, with solar lights, USB charging points and a compost loo just outside the back door. There is a gas-powered cool box and five hob oven so you can still get creative in the kitchen. For a special occasion, why not order up a hamper of great local produce, champagne and flowers, or order one of Vic's home-made meals?
If you’re not done with getting in the water, then trail to one of the many rivers which offer great spots for wild swimming. For longer day trips, there are forts, castles and ruins all through the hills that make for great hiking destinations, with country pubs in the villages to break up the route. Nearby are the towns of Ludlow and Leominster, the first fast becoming the foodie capital of the UK and the second a great place to rummage in antique shops for a souvenir of your stay in the peaceful countryside of Herefordshire and the unique space of the Corner House.
If you're travelling with friends or the Corner House isn't available for your dates, you could try the Stargazers Wagon which is about 60m away across the hilltop or the Mosaic Cabin.
Every July the five acre wild flower meadow has its annual hair cut, so the neighbouring cattle can get a taste of what it has to offer. This means that there will be some disturbance at some points of the day, and this can go on for two or three days. The owners cannot say when this will occur as it is purely weather dependent, but they endeavour to keep any noise to a minimum.

Your next left, (not Lower Ledicot Farm), you will see a red arrow with "Pencombestone" painted on it. Meet your hosts
Meet Vic & Chris
Victoria, Chris and their young son Cassius hail from Sheffield and started their search for a rural business in 2013. They hoped to find something within an hour or two from Sheffield, but after 2 years of fruitless searching they stumbled across Herefordshire Hideaways, nestled down a remote lane in North Herefordshire. They fell totally in love with both the beauty and tranquillity of the surroundings, and the two unique holiday properties that the previous owners had created. They immediately put in an offer and completed the purchase of Herefordshire Hideaways in January 2016. They have since designed and built The Corner House which shares the fabulous view with The Stargazers Wagon from the ridge on their five acre meadow.
Wildlife and Environment
The Mosaic Cabin is located at the end of the long, apple tree lined driveway in the corner of what used to be an ancient orchard. You have your own, private, south-facing deck with a fire-bowl and hot tub. The Stargazers Wagon and The Corner House are set on the top of the ridge, at the far end of the five acre wild-flower meadow, which in winter plays host to a flock of sheep who help nibble it to the nub after it has been hayed in July to feed our local Herefordshire cattle, and help fertilise it for the next year’s growth. The panoramic views take in five counties, which can be enjoyed from their raised decks or private hot tubs. All spaces manage to achieve a wonderful balance, combining ecological and local materials without compromising on luxurious details.
All the properties are off-grid and generate their own electricity through solar panels. Water comes fresh and clean from the private bore-hole.
Apart from the chickens, sheep, wild rabbits and cat, you will enjoy the lambs in early Spring, birds such as kites and buzzards riding the thermals, hear the hooting of owls and glimpse deer and hares in the surrounding orchards.
What you won’t get are crowds of tourists and traffic jams, at any time of the year, in this hidden gem of an undiscovered county.

Charlotte
We had a fantastic weekend staying in the Corner House. It is a truly beautiful and idyllic location - perfect for relaxation, with gorgeous views over the fields for watching the wildfire or the gliders from the nearby airfield soaring overhead. The cabin is spacious, comfortable and has everything you need. Despite being in such a peaceful location it is easy to find. The owners are incredibly helpful and friendly. It's an ideal base for exploring a wonderful part of the country with so much to do nearby, and we look forward to returning.

Incredible. Our host Chris was great, friendly and nothing was ever any trouble. The house itself is amazing, you get to really and fully disconnect from technology. Surrounded by fields and the views go for miles. This place is a real gem

Nicely decorated and cosy cottage in a beautiful setting. Very peaceful. There was quite a lot of rain and wind during our stay in September, but the cottage was always lovely and warm inside, even without lighting the log fire. We appreciated the outside seating on the porch, which meant we could sit out and enjoy the view. The hosts provided very comprehensive information both before we arrived, and in the cottage, which was great for planning and knowing what to expect. The huge skylight above the bed was great for watching the night sky before we went to sleep.

A welcome break after a busy summer and not too far from home. We wanted to walk in the countryside and chill with a glass of wine in the evenings!

A brilliant off grid long weekend! The Corner House is spacious and homely with all of the essentials you could need. We thoroughly enjoyed just sitting out and looking out at the view from the VERY comfortable deck chairs with the radio on. There is a Cedar wood fired hot tub sunken into the decking, and it is incredibly peaceful. We really enjoyed our last little get away as a 2, Chris and Vic are so helpful and responsive to any questions you have.

The Corner House was glamorous to say the least. The setting incredible and the hosts friendly and informative. Vic and Chris made us feel right at home. We were looking for a place to take us away from the craziness of COVID and recharge. It gave us all that and more. It allowed us to escape from the world for few days. We could not recommend it enough. Was the perfect setting for a romantic and relaxed week away for my wife and I.

We absolutely LOVED staying at the Corner House and our hosts were brilliant, making sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing week away. The Corner House is in a beautiful rural location with a stunning view and the hosts have made the best of this with the design of the Corner House - being able to see the stars at night and relax outside with the hot tub and fire pit were some of our highlights. We love how eco friendly the Corner House is and also how close it is to so many local farm shops, dairies and delis it is. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, even lighting fires for us and preparing meals, these extra touches made for a very special holiday. The Corner House is a MUST visit place, one of the best places we have found so far to holiday in the UK.

We had a wonderful long weekend at the corner house, everything was well thought out and communicated to make both the run up to our stay and the stay itself very relaxing and hassle free. It’s idillic location makes you feel far away from home and day to day life. A real escape. No TV and WiFi further enforced relaxation. We loved it.

Wow! We had an amazing time at the Corner House. Beautiful views and a lovely cozy feel to the house.

The accommodation was roomy and airy - just the venue to be watching the glorious views from. It was well decorated with good quality items, the bed was great. The extras of the hot tub and the glass ceiling which we could view the stars from our bed were great touches. The views were great too. The owners were welcoming and made themselves available if/when we needed them.

Absolutely fantastic from start to finish! Hosts were fantastic, helpful and friendly. Little touches like decorating the place for my belated birthday, fresh eggs from their chickens and the honesty box of local ciders! Got lost in a wood and the hosts even offered to come and rescue us

Absolutely idyllic stay in Corner House for my fiance's 30th birthday, loved how eco-friendly the house was, amazing wood fired hot tub and loved the compost loo with a view. Everything about the house has been thought out perfectly and can't wait to visit again.
14/06/2019Sarah
The corner house met all of our expectations and more. Beautiful location, scenery and design. Hot tub was a lovely addition with a stunning view of The countryside. The corner house also has a glass roof so you can stargaze at night, this was the icing on top of the cake.
07/06/2019Mali
Beautiful views rural location, a great experience to live with only a log burner for 3 days in the cold and it even snowed.
08/03/2019Gareth
My other half and I stayed at Corner House to celebrate our 4 year anniversary and it could not have been a more perfect weekend. We both work full time in London so this tranquil country escape was exactly what we needed. Everything from the warm welcome, to the house itself was warm and wonderful.
15/02/2019Julie
What a fantastic find! The Corner house was everything and more. The perfect relaxing setting for a romantic birthday treat away. The extra like being able to order hampers and meals, having the hot tub set up for the arrival and the homely touches all made the stay so pleasurable we did not want to leave.

Absolutely superb. We could not have been more lucky with the weather as well! Chris and Victoria were so helpful, even decorating the house with some just married bunting to make it that bit extra special! The food we had ordered was exceptional, particularly the soup that was there on our arrival! The location is brilliant as well for a country retreat, as you are quite literally in the middle of nowhere.

Wonderful stay at the corner house. All the little touches in place make for a relaxing and beautiful place to spend a long weekend.
05/10/2018Lauren
Corner House was exactly as advertised. Our trip was relaxing, peaceful and allowed for us to have time together, which is something modern life gets in the way of. The surroundings were beautiful and the house was perfect, even the compost loo!! The glass ceiling full of night sky and stars and the wood burning hot tub made the stay that extra bit special.

My girlfriend and I had a long weekend in Corner House for her birthday, and it was lovely. The house itself is beautiful, so much so that we abandoned some of our pre-laid plans in order to spend more time there! Chris and Victoria were incredibly helpful during the booking process, and made every effort to ensure our stay was as perfect as possible.
22/06/2018Conor
We had an amazing stay at the Corner House, Chris was really helpful throughout our stay. The house was beautiful, especially the outside area with the hot tub and fire pit looking out over the beautiful view

Lovely stay at the corner house, beautiful location the view is amazing. Although out of the way it’s still close driving distance to places of interest. Hot tub was great able to sit out for a long time watching the sun set.
30/04/2018Victoria
During our stay we experienced Storm Emma and the 'beast from the east', but this only added to the magic of Corner House! The wood burn fire kept us wonderfully warm whilst it snowed, and it still didn't stop us making use of the hot tub ;) Chris and Victoria were so welcoming and made sure we had enough supplies when the water had to be turned off in sub-zero temperatures. It was an utterly fantastic stay.
26/02/2018Zoe
Our stay at the Corner House was absolutely unforgettable! The cabin was beautifully decorated and felt so homely. The log burner and hot tub were already heated for our arrival so we didn’t need to do anything at all, apart from grab the champagne and get our swimsuits on! The fire pit was perfect for keeping us warm whilst we gazed at the stars (and for roasting marshmallows). The bed was the comfiest we’ve ever slept in; and the outdoor toilet had tremendous views of the fields (albeit a bit cold). We will definitely be returning. The owners were very helpful and friendly.

It was absolutely wonderful. The Corner house is incredibly awesome spacious but very cosy with great facilities really thought through accommodation and the hosts couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome special and at home. We didn't want to leave and we will certainly be back soon. From the pictures I was expecting it to be amazing but in life it is even better and truly magical

We stayed here for our mini moon after our wedding. It was very peaceful, and relaxing. The owners even arranged some chilled prosecco and heated the hot tub for our arrival.

The weather held well despite the awful weather forecast. We could see a thunder storm travel across the distant hills whilst enjoying the hot tub. We made the most of the wonderful home cooked food by Vic which was delicious. We enjoyed the peace and quiet too
