Overview
The Withywindle, hidden in a wild Devonshire meadow,15-minutes walk away from the nearest building, is designed to blend into its rural surroundings and help you do the same. Spend your afternoons lazily constructing pizzas for the Ooni oven outside on the deck, or rustle up meals on the fire pit nearby, should the well-equipped kitchen not cater to your every foodie whim. There are books to peruse and a massive outdoor bath to lie back and pretend to read them in. You can finish the day with a little quiet stargazing wrapped in blankets.
Tina and her partner Adam fled the bustle of the city and have set about living their rural dream with admirable enthusiasm. They’ll leave you a welcome hamper full of local delicacies and some tips on the area, then leave you altogether, to enjoy the peace of land unbroken by nothing more than nearby mooing and a local shoot that occasionally echoes through the hills from November to February. When the hamper runs out, the village of Cheriton Fitzpaine, a couple of miles away, has a great farm shop for stocking up, as well as The Ring of Bells, locally renowned for its delicious food, available for takeaway or eating in their beautiful beer garden. If you fancy venturing further afield, take your pick of coastal paths, Dartmoor’s tangle of trails, the beaches at Croyde and Woolacombe, or the Granite Way, an 11-mile cycle route which you can hop onto at Okehampton Station after hiring bikes there for the day. You don’t even have to argue about who has the bath first when you get there, because it’s big enough for two.

Meet Tina and Adam
Tina and Adam moved to Devon two years ago from Brighton, where they ran their own catering business. Adam was originally trained at Fortnum & Mason in London and has continued to be a chef/hotel manager all his adult life. Adam loves to cook, the more the merrier! Tina is a woven textile designer and enjoys anything creative. She loves gardening and tending the veggie patch, but hates weeding! She also loves to add to the menagerie of animals living at South Yeo farmhouse, this currently stands at 3 geese, 6 chickens, 1 cat, and 2 rabbits- alpacas maybe on the cards soon! They have 3 grown-up children, Talia, Darcy and Connor and 2 beagles called Peter and Poppy, who you will sometimes see wandering the country lanes. They moved to their 16th century listed farmhouse originally because they wanted to get out of the city, they craved space and fresh air. They quickly fell in love with all Devon has to offer: stunning countryside, beautiful coastlines, the wild moors and their friendly local community. As you can imagine, their very old house needs constant care and attention, so between their house, caring for their animals, tending their vegetable patch and welcoming guests at their beautiful cabin, they are kept very busy!!
Wildlife & the environment
The Withywindle is situated in a peaceful wild meadow of approx one and a half acres. A stream, part of the River Holly, runs around the perimeter of the meadow. It is surrounded by woodland and farmland which mostly houses sheep and dairy cattle. They have an interesting mixture of wildlife including buzzards, red kites, owls, hawks and kingfishers.
The cabin is totally off-grid, they have a biodigester, bore hole and solar panels.

Such a wonderful staycation and honestly was so refreshing not to have loads of technology on and enjoy the peacefulness! The hamper packs was amazing and really thoughtful and would 100% stay again with my dog Toby and partner Joshua!
23/09/2024Jessica
We had a wonderful stay at The Withywindle. It superceded our expectations. The hamper was amazing - you don't need to pack breakfast for the first morning!! It's totally off grid but you able to charge your gadgets with the USB ports. There are some bits to keep you entertained like cards. The cabin is stocked with the best quality of everything e.g. bathrobes, bedding, kitchen equipment etc. The outdoor bbq and pizza oven are fab - we had pizza ready made dough in hamper. The outdoor bath is amazing (make sure the drainage is shut when filling it!). Highly recommend this stay!!
18/09/2024Natalie
Perfect setting - Tina and Adam were very attentive and resupplied us whenever requested. Lovely welcome hamper and great facilities. Would recommend the place.

A 2 night return visit for the utter tranquillity of this beautiful little cabin. Perfect peace. No tech. But comfortable, hot shower, and with everything you might need, including an incredibly thoughtful welcome hamper of local foods.

Looking for a place to really switch off and relax I’m so glad I found The Withywindle. It was perfect. Off grid, calm, quiet, set in a pretty meadow, with so many thoughtful touches from the owners. I loved every minute and would highly recommend it.
01/07/2024Caroline
Loved it, beautiful, peaceful, tranquil spot just what we needed to de-stress. Great facilities, pizza oven, outdoor bath and hammock - three perfect features. Generous hamper on arrival, including home made pizza dough and artisan cider. A perfect, superbly well presented and maintained cabin in a very relaxing and beautiful corner of the world where you can truly unwind and relax.
21/06/2024Pav
We had a wonderful stay at The Withywindle. Peaceful and a perfect place to unwind and disconnect from the world for a few days.
17/06/2024Glenn
It was easy to find with the instructions given to us by Tina and Adam. The hamper left was amazing. It was rural enough to get back to nature but closest enough to towns to get anything you needed. The hut was clean and tidy, slot of effort and thought gone into it. Recommend it to friends and family as well as strangers.
01/05/2024Naomi
We had the most blissfully peaceful stay at the Withywindle. It had everything we needed to be comfortable while experiencing a little off-grid time. Comfy, cosy cabin, beautiful surroundings and dog friendly. We didn't find ourselves wanting for anything, especially with hot water, a full bathroom and kitchen as well. They even provided fresh food and pizza making supplies, as well as having things like yoga equipment, games, books, and charger cables for all things. It was perfect.
12/04/2024Samantha
We had a wonderful stay at the Withywindle, it has been created perfectly for the getaway where you want to feel disconnected from all the stressful parts of everyday life.
08/11/2023Erin
Beautiful location, relaxing to be off-grid. The cabin was cosy & very well equipped, the owners had thought of everything for a wonderful stay.
30/10/2023Sally
Beautifully designed hut, in a very peaceful location, perfect for some off-grid R&R. We had a fabulous weekend staying in The Withywindle, the location was very quiet, and we loved the woodfired hot tub in the evening, looking at the stars. Tina had thought of everything and was on-hand for questions - nothing was too much trouble for her, and she left a wonderful welcome pack which was much appreciated. Would definitely recommend the Ring of Bells pub locally for a cracking Sunday roast.
20/10/2023Lotte
Our stay at Tina & Adam’s place was absolutely gorgeous, we didn’t want to leave. The hut is in a beautiful field without WiFi or phone signal so you feel totally secluded/at peace and can switch off. We loved the outdoor bath and being able to stargaze, there was also a very thoughtful hamper on our arrival and a lovely pub within walking distance for Sunday lunch (The Ring of Bells). Would highly recommend! Warning for other guests: As it is down country lanes that are full of potholes and are very narrow I’d just recommend having a suitable car to get there
13/10/2023Joanna
Lovely peaceful relaxing place to fully unwind and disconnect from the world
06/10/2023Victoria
The most relaxing calmest stay I needed.
13/09/2023Kiara
We loved the secluded and peaceful location, starry skies and falling asleep to hooting owls. The cabin had everything we needed & it was perfect off grid time away. Comfy bed, fab hamper and we loved the book selection. It was just what we needed & we will definitely be back.
08/09/2023Sarah
It was amazing
26/07/2023Kent
A wonderful little cabin. in its own meadow with a lovely stream and lots of wildlife. Perfect for me as I needed to retreat for a little rest and recovery in nature. Loved it, despite the bad weather. Pizza oven and outdoor bath were fantastic additions to the offer. Very cosy, thoughtfully presented, clean and well equipped. An off grid experience in a peaceful location. Welcome hamper was wonderful. Loved the nature books (Read three due to bad weather). Dog made very welcome with biscuits and bowls. I only wish I could have stayed longer.
14/07/2023Amanda
Idilic location surrounded by nothing but nature. We felt very relaxed from the outdoor bath and ate delicious pizza from a wood fired pizza oven. Local produce was provided and was yummy! We loved it.
07/07/2023Alice
We had a truly incredible stay at the Withywindle, we spent our time relaxing in nature going for walks, cooking homemade pizza in the wood-fired oven and watching stars from the outdoor bathtub. My personal highlight was enjoying my morning tea on the patio and simply listening to the birds. It was the perfect opportunity to slow down, appreciate nature and be present.
05/06/2023Beth
Fantastic location tucked away in Devon, away from the world and a brilliant little cabin amongst the woods by a stream. We all had a fantastic time and our dog absolutely loved running around the field.
05/05/2023Niall
Absolutely incredible, pure perfection
21/04/2023Ashleigh
We had the most perfect stay at The Withywindle and loved how every little thing had been considered. The outdoor bath, pizza oven, fire pit and rainfall shower were all such a great addition. We were blown away by the generous hamper of goodies left by the hosts too.
12/04/2023Polly
We had a magical stay at The Withywindle. The cabin itself was brilliantly kitted out - the bed was so comfy - and we loved all the special features like the log burner, pizza oven and wood-fired bath. The hamper left for us on arrival was full of amazing, local produce which kept us going for the whole stay. The setting was incredibly peaceful (made even better when the sun came out for us), our dog loved exploring the field and it was just the perfect opportunity to properly switch off. Could not recommend it enough.
13/03/2023Fiona
We had an amazing time, as did our Husky! The first evening we chilled under the stars cooking and eating pizza in the outdoor oven, then the next day we had a 2 hour ramble down country lanes and across fields, before relaxing in the outdoor bath! We saw barely anybody and very few cars drove past, which was lovely. A total disconnect from society and felt very close to nature!
22/02/2023Mitch
Loved being off the grid no phone signal or wii, it was great to get away from technology for a couple of nights. We throughly enjoyed the hamper that was left, everything was delicious. We visited The Beer Engine, beer was delicious and we came away with 4 pints of beer, which he enjoyed at the cabin. We also went to Belluno for an Italian, food was amazing and delicious, would highly recommend visiting both places. The cabin was peaceful, tranquil, hot shower was lovely. We enjoyed chilling in the hot bath, we took champagne and strawberries to enjoy the experience. Would recommend this lovely tranquil cabin.
15/02/2023Kerry
We had a brilliant time. The hut was so lovely with lots of thoughtful extras such as a hamper, eye masks etc. The bath was so nice. The most romantic valentines ever.
13/02/2023Amanda
We stayed here for my partner's surprise birthday weekend getaway and everything was simply perfect! The cabin is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated throughout to the last little detail. We loved our special hamper of treats and made the most of the outdoor bath and making pizzas in the Ooni. The location is remote and the cabin sits in its own field with noone overlooking but it is next to the quiet country track. The hosts have been fantastic at communication and answering our numerous questions. We would love to come back and stay for longer next time!
03/02/2023Anya
We had a great stay at Withywindle! We were really lucky with the weather, so enjoyed some nice local walks to pubs nearby. The hamper from Tina and Adam including all the gluten free goodies was lovely! Enjoyed using the pizza oven and loved the outside bath staring at the stars! Lovely
18/11/2022Minna
We had such a lovely stay at the Withywindle! It was everything we were hoping for and we loved spending our first anniversary there. The location is amazing, the cabin was so comfortable and the thoughtful little touches all combine to make it a really special place. Our dog thought it was heaven! We loved cooking on the fire pit, stargazing round the fire and cosy Autumnal evenings eating pizza and drinking the delicious local cider.
14/10/2022Julia
The location is very remote and just perfect for a proper get away. The cabin is clean, comfortable, warm and has everything you need for you yo relax. The owners are lovely and will go the extra mile to make your stay perfect!
07/10/2022William
It was brilliant! Everything was exactly as we hoped or better. A prefect balance of luxury and adventure. A kerf romantic getaway.
23/09/2022Gary
blissful weekend relaxing in the stunning folly
02/09/2022Jonathon
We stayed at Withywindle for a very quick 2 night break on our return from Devon to Manchester, with our dog Jean. Withywindle is a wonder. Tucked down a secluded lane in the very depths of the countryside, in its own beautiful meadow it has everything one could wish for: peace, quiet, beauty, an outdoor bath, pizza oven, hammock, beautiful kitchen and bathroom, amazing food left by the hosts. The attention to detail means that everything has been thought about: from the eyemasks in case you don't want to wake up with the sun to the Withywindle Ordnance Survey map that allows you to see exactly where you are! We loved it!
15/08/2022Samantha
It was a wonderful retreat. Completely tranquil and ‘off grid’. The attention to detail was amazing. All the products, food, linen etc was to very high standard, it was a slice of luxury but with the added bonus of being totally secluded in nature. We loved every minute.
12/08/2022Charlotte
We had a wonderful time at the Withywindle. It was such a magical setting. The outdoor bath was perfect. Pizza oven was amazing. Inside the decor was so beautiful and relaxing. It felt like a very luxurious small space and everything you needed was there. Being so remote was great as you felt like no matter what you do you weren’t disturbing anyone. The location in the hillside was stunning. Tina and Adam left the most amazing welcome pack we’ve ever had, and they really went the extra mile and made sure everything was gluten free as I suffer with an allergy. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we felt like we had the best little holiday because of their thoughtfulness and the design of the hut.
08/08/2022Daniel
We had an amazing stay at The Withywindle. The hut was in the most beautiful location with not a soul in sight other than the odd sheep or cow. We were super impressed with the high quality and thought that had gone into making our stay as relaxing as possible and really appreciated the farm shop goods in the fridge on arrival. Having our own field to look out over was magical.
15/07/2022JoJo
Our stay was perfect. It is absolutely beautiful and a perfect place to relax and unwind. We are currently travelling the U.K. in a Motorhome and I booked this as a treat for my husbands 30th birthday and he had the most wonderful time. The cabin is to a very high spec, everything you need is there that you need including lanterns, pizza oven, outside bath, waterfall shower and the coziest bedding. The owners provided lovely local produce accommodating to our dietary needs (veggie), a welcome hamper with yummy goodies and even dog treats for our doggie. Honestly I would recommend Withywindle to anyone needing a switch off from the world.
22/06/2022Charlotte
I booked two nights in mid-June to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was perfect! We relaxed in the meadow and watched the birds - there's an owl in the field, which was an absolute treat to see! Tina and Adam provided everything we could need, and their welcome hamper was so appreciated. We cooked a cassoulet over the campfire using the lovely local produce provided, and used the Ooni pizza oven to make garlic flatbreads - delicious! There was a heatwave when we stayed, so we used the outdoor bath as a paddling pool during the day and heated it up in the evening so we could soak and watch the stars. I can't wait to return!

Loved it! We were slightly worried about being in the middle of nowhere with no reception but it turned out to feel like a real adventure and it was lovely being off grid for a couple of days. Tina and Adam did a great job of helping us settle in straight away by leaving lots of local tasty produce so we didn’t even have to go out! The cabin is really modern and so charming. It’s really well thought out so that you can have everything you need, despite it being a small space. It was just perfect. The surroundings are amazing, just fields and so quiet. We really got to relax and take a break from the crazy lives we lead in London. Thank you to Tina and Adam. We will be recommending this place.

We have had the most relaxing and chilled few days. The welcome basket was very generous and delicious. Eating out suggestions were very good as well. We loved everything about this place: peaceful meadow, relaxing outdoor bath, pizza oven, great shower and the fact that you can read in bed, drink coffee and look outside through the small windows! I would gladly stay there forever! Just a warning to anyone who will stay there: you'll have such an amazing time, that you would like to bring some of this feeling home :) We already bought the same bedding for our house, the same pizza oven and now looking for outdoor chairs :D It's a beautiful, luxurious place, with everything you may need to have a relaxing time.

My partner and I went to the Withywindle for our anniversary, and we had the most amazing time. Unfortunately, we just missed meeting our hosts, Tina and Adam, as we arrived a bit later than expected, but we could not have wished for a more beautiful place to stay. They provided a fabulous welcome basket with locally sources goodies, including dog treats for our Shiz-tzu. Lots of local infortmation was provided and the hut had all the amenities you need for the perfect get away.

Our stay was amazing, the accommodation was even better than expected! The owners were so generous with food that we didn’t need to leave to eat out. A lovely touch was the Easter biscuits and the tag wishing us a happy anniversary. The space was clean and the attention to detail meant that we had everything we needed and more. Would love to stay again!

It was perfect in every way, in nature with a beautiful cabin and hot tub

Turning off the track to reach Withywindle, you only hear the sound of the birds and the nearby stream. Stepping into Withywindle it blew me away; everything is decorated to such a high standard. The sliding door opens out onto a deck with an outdoor bath tub; the perfect way to spend an evening alfresco and stargaze. The secluded meadow makes you feel like you have your own slice of the Devon countryside all to yourself. Come rain or shine you will have a great time revelling in the peace and quiet at Withywindle.

Such a wonderful staycation and honestly was so refreshing not to have loads of technology on and enjoy the peacefulness! The hamper packs was amazing and really thoughtful and would 100% stay again with my dog Toby and partner Joshua!

We had a wonderful stay at The Withywindle. Peaceful and a perfect place to unwind and disconnect from the world for a few days.

We loved the secluded and peaceful location, starry skies and falling asleep to hooting owls. The cabin had everything we needed & it was perfect off grid time away. Comfy bed, fab hamper and we loved the book selection. It was just what we needed & we will definitely be back.

Idilic location surrounded by nothing but nature. We felt very relaxed from the outdoor bath and ate delicious pizza from a wood fired pizza oven. Local produce was provided and was yummy! We loved it.

Fantastic location tucked away in Devon, away from the world and a brilliant little cabin amongst the woods by a stream. We all had a fantastic time and our dog absolutely loved running around the field.

We had the most perfect stay at The Withywindle and loved how every little thing had been considered. The outdoor bath, pizza oven, fire pit and rainfall shower were all such a great addition. We were blown away by the generous hamper of goodies left by the hosts too.

We had a brilliant time. The hut was so lovely with lots of thoughtful extras such as a hamper, eye masks etc. The bath was so nice. The most romantic valentines ever.

Lovely

The location is very remote and just perfect for a proper get away. The cabin is clean, comfortable, warm and has everything you need for you yo relax. The owners are lovely and will go the extra mile to make your stay perfect!

It was a wonderful retreat. Completely tranquil and ‘off grid’. The attention to detail was amazing. All the products, food, linen etc was to very high standard, it was a slice of luxury but with the added bonus of being totally secluded in nature. We loved every minute.
