Overview
In a clearing in a 65 acre forest sits Paradise Pines – sometimes nicknamed The Den – a beacon of stylish design in the woods. It’s been crafted not just to look great, but to allow you to unwind however you prefer. Lounge in the deep, freestanding bath tub, in the rocking chairs staring at the unspoilt night sky, or on the family-sized sofa with the wood-burner glowing in front of you. Trails lead all through the woods and you might meet wild boar, deer or the famous white stag, but the seclusion means that just sitting quietly in the comfort of the cabin can be a wildlife experience all its own. The dining room windows frame the forest but also fold back to let the cool night breezes and the sounds of nature in too.
The cabin’s design considers comfort and the environment equally. The sedum moss roof, photovoltaic cells and pure water straight from the borehole keep its impact low. A downstairs bedroom and bathroom as well as the ramp up to the door make the whole place accessible, the balcony and the patio area invite the forest in, while waterfall showers add a touch of luxury to washing off the day’s wilderness adventure. The open plan living space and well-equipped kitchen mean keen chefs can chip in to family games or the chat round the table as they work. If you leave your haven in the woods, a short drive will take you to the cobbled streets of the seaside village of Clovelly, or you can go further afield to Dartmoor, Tintagel Castle or the huge beach at Widemouth Bay.

Our guests say...
Rosie
Paradise pines was the most perfect, peaceful setting for us to get away with a young child and grandparents. Being able to use the angler facilities near by was a bonus. Though its self catering they had all the basic needs covered (sugar, coffee, salt, toilet paper etc...) and tons of guides on where to go and what to do in the neighbouring villages. We spent a lot of time leaving the doors wide open, listening to the birds and running around the grass and tracks.

We had a lovely relaxing weekend at Paradise Pines, the surrounding woodland was beautifully illuminated by an exceptionally sunny weekend.

We had a great weekend & couldn’t have been happier with our choice of accommodation. All our needs were meet & the place was high quality.
21/05/2021Heather
Deer in the morning, bird song throughout the day and owls at night while enjoying dark sky’s and stars. Love it!
30/04/2021Maria
Paradise Pines is a fantastic place in a really beautiful location. The living/kitchen area is very spacious and sociable, and really nice outdoor space for relaxing and watching the stars. We didn't use any of the near by facilities as just out of lock down, but if you are looking for somewhere to get off grid, get some peace and quiet and relax, while still feeling quite spoilt this is the place.

The house was perfect, stunning setting, incredibly peaceful and relaxing. Beautifully designed with everything we needed and more. The kids loved roaming the forest and all the toys, cutlery etc were really helpful.

The Den is very comfortable and quiet. We had a wonderful stay. Communication with Anna was very nice and easy. We liked the space inside, the bath tub in the master bedroom, the fully equipped kitchen to mention a few things. We had a great stay there! Our children (8 and 10) and we loved it. On our last day we saw deers and squirrels just passing by - how wonderful to watch!

Excellent accomodation, very well presented. Clean and tidy. Modern and well furnished.

We had a fabulous time at paradise Pines in February 2019. The house is spectacular, clean, modern, and in a gorgeous setting. The owners were very nice and welcoming and the homemade wine was delicious.

The house is in a lovely location, peaceful and private. The rooms are spacious and light with simple but quirky decorations. Kitchen all works well to cook at home, or you can eat at the fishing complex nearby some nights. Anna was very prompt in communications and Rose and the staff at Anglers Paradise were very helpful.

"We had a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend at Paradise Pines with our children. The setting is beautiful and secluded and The Den itself was a joy to behold. The children thought it was magical and there was the chance to really relax and feel at peace. We really enjoyed the homemade organic wine that Anna left for us as a welcome surprise! The bedrooms were especially fantastic - the bath in the main bedroom was the grown ups' added bonus. We hired bikes from the YHA in Oakhampton and cycled along the Granite Way on the first morning and visited Bude in the afternoon. Sunday morning was spent at the super indoor pool at the Angler's Paradise about 100m away. We also noted that RHS Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal were not too far away so definitely more to enjoy when we are able to do a return visit. It was an incredible place to stay."

Anna and her family have created something very special here. A truly beautiful place to stay. The Den is a well equipped, stylishly modern and very comfortable house in the middle of a peaceful, untouched woodland setting. It feels like you are miles from anywhere, but the main road is easily accessible and the house is a good base, situated halfway between Dartmoor and the beaches of the north coast. A short walk along a woodland track takes you to Angler's Paradise which has a lovely swimming pool, which our children enjoyed and a quirky bar which hosted a fun quiz night while we were there. Everyone we met on site was so friendly and helpful. We would love to return and would recommend this property very highly.
23/07/2018Rosie
It was brilliant! The eco den is amazing, beautiful, peaceful, modern, comfortable, clean, decorated beautifully and lovely amnesties. Beds are comfortable. It is so private that one really can download. The woods and lakes are gorgeous. The hosts are just amazing! So friendly and helpful! Rose and Zyg and their daughters are just glorious hosts. Their home made food (a tenner for adults and a fiver for kids) is such a delight! The bar is like a museum. While we did not go fishing, we definitely want to return and do some fishing. Highly highly recommend to visit Paradise Pines.

Restful haven in the woods - picture perfect setting with just the birdsong to wake us up. We loved everything about the house - super comfy beds, lush showers and well equipped kitchen.
13/07/2018Emma
The setting is incredible. The woods are so beautiful and Paradise Pines is as striking as the mythical white deer (which alas we didn’t see, but had a good go!)… Definitely take some time to explore the woodland, which has a wonderful calm feel. But also definitely have a soak in the bath too! Listen out for owls… We went to the RHS garden at Rosemoor for lunch on the Sunday, but on another (less rainy) day a trip to nearby Bude which is only 20 minutes would be a great little trip, year round. This is another level in terms of comfort. What an amazing place.
