Overview
Resting on the peak of rolling hills that frame the river Lynher in the Lower Tamar Valley AONB, you’ll spot what’s special about this place as you stroll up from your parking space – turning the corner, the view of the viaduct pulling the hills together will take your breath away, and it’ll be just as easy to spot from the floor to ceiling window that sits directly in view when snuggling in bed. You might even spot trains chugging past! Above that, you’ll see the roof window that lets you spy the heavens, either pouring light in from sunset or watching the stars poke out at night. The cabin is custom built, and you’ll notice its generous size when manoeuvring about, or climbing out of the spacious king size bed.
Sat in the middle of its own field, 700m away from any other buildings, this space feels secluded and peaceful and the only sounds you’re likely to hear are the distant sounds of the boatyard at the bottom of the valley. Wake up and use the electric hob to cook something hearty for breakfast, and stroll down to the river through the butterfly laden field, and stroll the banks of the river, or head a little further afield to Tideford, Plymouth or Looe for a day out – and come back to barbecuing with sensational views.

Beautiful place with gorgeous view even though it was the most blustery weekend, had everything you could need
06/12/2024Emma
Overall it was a wonderful place to stay. The place was beautifully designed and thoughtfully presented, the views were stunning and it had a very serene feeling. I would love to go back one day.
29/10/2024Alice
We loved staying here. It was beautifully secluded, very quiet, wonderful views of the valley and bridge. The owners have gone to great lengths to ensure all your comforts have been met. We particularly loved the fire pit with the extendable marshmallow stick - best toasted marshmallows under the stars ever :) we would love to come and stay here again. Thank you very much
04/09/2024Mike
We stayed here for my birthday. Beautiful location and a beautiful cabin. Absolutely stunning views. Comfy bed.
31/08/2024Debbie
Lynher lookout was the perfect spot for my little idyllic reading retreat. The hut was well equipped and was really comfortable. I could enjoy the view inside and out. The cows in the field were a pleasant surprise to keep me company.

We had an absolutely wonderful summer holiday at Lynher Lookout. Everything was beautifully finished inside the cabin, and it felt like it had been done to a high quality. The mattress and pillows were Simba branded, and very comfortable. All of the towels were White Company. Very nicely decorated. There are some footpaths around the cabin for exploring the nearby landscape, and the owner popped down the day we arrived (with their two very cute dogs in tow!) to cut back the foliage around the pathways to make sure we could go for an explore if we wanted! And then also popped back down a day or 2 later to check we had settled in okay and didn't need anything. Attentive without being intrusive, and available by mobile if we needed them. The cabin is lovely and warm, but also has many windows which can be opened for ventilation if needed. Nothing negative to say about our stay whatsoever, we would happily return. We particularly enjoyed sitting outside of an evening in front of the fire, watching the trains pass and looking at the beautiful view.
12/07/2024Alice
Absolutely loved our stay at this gorgeous cabin. It's very comfortable, cosy and well appointed. Every little detail is beautifully done. The location is stunning. Falling asleep with moonlight coming through the big picture windows was amazing. Highly recommend this place. Guy and Samantha are great hosts - definitely follow their suggestion of walking down to the river, it's a beautiful spot.
07/07/2024Amy
Fantastic, it was perfect. It's just what we were looking for. A great cabin, with everything you require.
21/06/2024Mark
We had such a wonderful stay at this beautiful location. The Shepherds hut is very well thought out and spotlessly clean. The large glass doors allows you to look out at the spectacular view from the sofa/dining table area inside (if it rains) or there's chairs and a bench outside too (if you're lucky like we were and get glorious sunshine). It's so private too, it feels like you're miles from anyone. I don't think the photos even do it justice, if you want a romantic secluded stay in a beautiful peaceful location go ahead and book, you won't be disappointed! Thanks Guy and Samantha for a wonderful break away!
17/06/2024Claire
The location was absolutely breathtaking and the cabin was very cosy & cute
15/06/2024Lizzie

We had an amazing couple of nights here, the hut was very cosy and waking up to that view was incredible. The farm itself is beautiful with a nice walk through the huge meadow and down to the river. Was so relaxing sitting and chatting by the fire and watching the stars come out. Would definitely recommend for a romantic getaway! Thank you so much to the owners of this beautiful place for sharing it with us!
23/05/2024Owen
Our stay at Lynher Lookout was absolutely fantastic. The hut has been made and decorated to such a high standard! We loved the location and the views and feeling very cosy as the rain came down.
16/02/2024Anna
We stayed for 2 nights for a little weekend getaway and we were not disappointed. The walk down to the cabin lets you start to take in the views whilst leaving the cabin as a secret for when you look around the hedge at the bottom. We loved the remoteness of the cabin, you really feel like you are all alone.. with the exception of the cows that come to visit and graze nearby which was lovely. The cabin was perfect, amazing use of space and had everything we needed for our little stay. My husband had been concerned about not having ice cubes for his drink.. but there were some in the little freezer so disaster avoided! Everything worked well, lovely shower, electric radiator was needed one morning just to take the chill off and was very effective. Did get a little confused by the combined oven/grill/microwave for a minute but figured it out. We had such a lovely time and would definitely recommend.
29/09/2023Amy
Picked this as the ideal off-grid retreat away from everyone to enjoy nature. We stayed for 2 nights and I could have stayed there much longer! Super peaceful and gorgeous! Will also add that it was the cleanest place I have ever stayed in and the bed was so comfy!
20/09/2023Verity
We had the loveliest stay, all the details were so perfect – exactly as described on the website, but even better in real life. The perfect place to properly switch off and enjoy the amazing surroundings.
25/08/2023Chloe
Quite simply, it was perfect! The pre-arrival advice was concise and useful, as we were unfamiliar with the area. The setting was wonderful - lovely as the photos are, they don't quite do justice to the views - and the accommodation was everything we hoped it would be. It felt as though plenty of thought had gone into equipping the space; and lots of love and care into its furnishings to create a relaxing retreat. We only stayed for a couple of nights, but left rejuvenated and rested after our stay in such a beautiful and peaceful place. We found it impossible not to spend ages just staring at the views and wildlife spotting and have no hesitation in recommending Lynher Lookout to anyone interested in enjoying such tranquility.
16/07/2023Lesley
The Lynher lookout was perfect for a couple of days away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Sitting with our morning coffee just staring out at the incredible view was the perfect way to start the day while enjoying a BBQ followed by a game of scrabble by the firepit was an even better way to end it. I loved that you are truly secluded at the cabin with only the working farm going on around you.
26/06/2023Pippa
We loved Lynher Lookout. Although we'd seen the pictures on the website, it was still amazing to see it - particularly the view - in the flesh. The cabin was very comfortable - fitted out very well with everything you could need. A bit more toilet roll and some sugar would have been useful but we picked that up while we were out and about. It was the perfect base for a relaxed break within easy reach of places like Looe and Polperro. Great for seeing the stars at night, bats and owl-watching.
22/06/2023Val
We stayed at Lynher lookout in June, we had the most amazing weather which really highlighted the breathtaking views! If I could, I’d love to wake up every morning looking out the window which perfectly frames the viaduct. We really enjoyed having a cup of tea whilst relaxing on the sofa with the door open and listening to the birds. One evening we even had a group of deer stroll past! The cooking facilities were very good and you had all the utensils and essentials you could ask for. Thank you Guy & Samantha for a lovely stay, we look forward to returning one winter to use the lovely log burner - Hannah & James
10/06/2023Hannah
Absolutely perfect! As I came through the gate with my wheelbarrow after a short walk from my car and saw the cabin and the view I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Such a perfect location, a perfect cabin. I only wished I could have stayed longer.
06/06/2023Dawn
We had the most lovely time at Lynher Lookout. Incredibly peaceful and the cabin itself was impeccably designed and furnished down to the smallest detail. Well located for beach and local activities and a lovely walk round the grounds too, but the view was so wonderful that you could just sit an enjoy it. Loved it. The best view we’ve had through Canopy and Stars
12/05/2023Kimberley
What a little gem! Comfortable and well equipped with spectacular views from every angle. Great location with lots of options for things to do nearby, although was hard to drag myself away.... Had a fabulous stay and left feeling very relaxed / rested. Will be back
06/05/2023emily
3 days of rest and relaxation in this lovely cabin
19/03/2023Ella
We spent a lovely long weekend enjoying the peace, the view and the gorgeous cabin. The whole place is so well equipped and well thought out. The bed is comfy and you don’t need to get out of it to enjoy that view. Will definitely be returning with hope of clearer skies to stargaze.
10/03/2023Deborah
Awesome find! The most amazing cabin that has everything you need for a perfect get-away. Light the firepit, crack open a beer & take in the spectacular view. Super friendly & helpful hosts. Can't reccomend enough!
03/03/2023George
Lovely, relaxing break in a cosy cabin with amazing views
16/11/2022Susan
We enjoyed our honeymoon at the lookout for two nights over the bank holiday! We had the most amazing time and were blown away by the beauty of the setting and how well the lookout was equipped! Also some very nice small touches by the hosts that made it very inviting and us well looked after!
16/09/2022Adam
We thought this was a fabulous rural retreat, away from it all, so secluded in the most beautiful part of south, east Cornwall. The view was absolutely stunning, I could wake up there everyday and never get bored of it. What a fabulous location! Lynher Lookout would be the perfect place for birdwatchers, writers, artists or just a quiet holiday away from it all. The bed was super comfy, the shower was great and outside has a fire pit, armchairs, picnic bench, bbq, everything you need. Guy and Sam gave great instructions of how to get there and we’re available by phone if we needed anything. We met them briefly when we left and they were super friendly and helpful! I would highly recommend without any hesitation! Thank you for letting us stay in your magical retreat! I have re-booked already!
06/09/2022Ella
We stayed at Lynher Lookout over the August Bank Holiday weekend and we were treated to incredible sunsets over the estuary, beautiful walks and an amazing stay in this lovely space. Everything inside and out is top quality, we made full use of the Webber BBQ and lovely firepit - but the real star of the show was the amazing view! We loved sitting outside and taking it all in, we even saw shooting stars come nightfall. We will remember our stay here for a very long time; thank you!
25/08/2022Alice. Canopy & Stars
After a long drive from London I was pleased to finally arrive at my destination. I parked up and a wheelbarrow was waiting overturned for use to transport belongings to the then still concealed cabin and final place of rest. After a short walk and through a gate you are met with a truly astounding picture. A charmingly constructed cabin set in a private valley with views of the Lynher river and bridge all yours to personally enjoy. It felt secret and serene and just what I was looking for for a quiet getaway. The cabin itself was as charming on the inside as it was on the outside, comfortable, with all the little things you may need, and with care taken to ensure that the views outside could be enjoyed inside with glass sliding doors into the main living area, and a large picture frame like window in the bedroom making a for a truly beautiful scene to wake up to of a morning. There is a lovely trail that leads down to the river itself, with benches along the way to enjoy the view and area up close. It's a truly gorgeous place and I felt priveleged to be able to witness and enjoy it.
20/08/2022Phillip
This was a last minute get away to take advantage of the lovely sunshine. It completely surpassed our expectations. The accommodation is immaculate, well thought out and spotlessly clean but the star of the show is the stunning view. We loved sitting outside, watching the bees flitting about in the pretty flowers and taking in the beautiful scenery. It was so peaceful and calming. We had a wonderful time and really appreciated being able to get away from it all.
07/08/2022Hannah
When you arrive and park your car, you're blissfully unaware of what welcomes you when you reach your cabin after a 3 minute walk through the field. When you turn around that corner, the view of the viaduct is guaranteed to take your breath away. Sit by the fire, sip wine and watch the trains and birds go by. The view isn't disrupted when it's time for bed, the moon will light up the hills through your floor to ceiling bedroom window.

The cooking facilities were very good and you had all the utensils and essentials you could ask for. Thank you Guy & Samantha for a lovely stay, we look forward to returning one winter to use the lovely log burner - Hannah & James

Absolutely perfect! As I came through the gate with my wheelbarrow after a short walk from my car and saw the cabin and the view I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Such a perfect location, a perfect cabin. I only wished I could have stayed longer.

What a little gem! Comfortable and well equipped with spectacular views from every angle. Great location with lots of options for things to do nearby, although was hard to drag myself away.... Had a fabulous stay and left feeling very relaxed / rested. Will be back

We spent a lovely long weekend enjoying the peace, the view and the gorgeous cabin. The whole place is so well equipped and well thought out. The bed is comfy and you don’t need to get out of it to enjoy that view. Will definitely be returning with hope of clearer skies to stargaze.

Awesome find! The most amazing cabin that has everything you need for a perfect get-away. Light the firepit, crack open a beer & take in the spectacular view. Super friendly & helpful hosts. Can't reccomend enough!

We enjoyed our honeymoon at the lookout for two nights over the bank holiday! We had the most amazing time and were blown away by the beauty of the setting and how well the lookout was equipped! Also some very nice small touches by the hosts that made it very inviting and us well looked after!
