Overview
Sat in its very own field, Little Doe Bank Cabin is a world of its own. Off grid, it uses solar power to run the cabin, and the festoon lights strung across the outside area, which add an atmospheric glow to your late-night dips in the copper bath on the deck or a way to guide you back after a go in the sauna. Your partner can keep you company on the sheep-fur deckchairs, chat to you from a perch round the firepit nearby.
Or if you take the walk down to the wild swimming pond, and they can give you wave from the sauna – just remember to book both of them before you go! When you get back inside, dry off in front of the wood burner in the comfy armchair that looks out the French doors, which is also the perfect spot to sit in during the day, overlooking the far-reaching views past your field.
There’s plenty to do nearby and onsite, like a farm tour with Hugh, or a walk to the local pub. There’s a Big Green Egg BBQ waiting for you back at your space if you find ingredients out on your travels, but if you’re the prepared kind, you might’ve already preordered lamb from the owners themselves!

Meet your hosts
Meet Emily & Hugh
The Darbishire family has been farming at Hill Farm for many generations. It is a popular area with something to see or do in all directions. Hugh farms the 450-acre family sheep and arable farm on a daily basis, having taken over from his father, Simon. A glamping Shepherds Hut, Jesters Hut, was added to the farm back in 2015, and later adding a camp of lotus belle tents to the farm as well as a tipi and a cabin.
Wildlife & Environment
Emily and Hugh have a strong focus on conservation at Hill Farm, with a large environmental higher level stewardship scheme which takes up 25% of the farm and includes wild bird covers, pollen and nectar crops, wildflower margins, and traditional hay meadows. They've also planted around 1500 new trees on the farm across 2020 and early 2021. This encourages an abundance of wildlife – hares, pheasants, deer, foxes and more. It's also wonderful for bird spotting, especially skylarks and lapwings.
They are beginning to incorporate regenerative farming practices into a more conventional system, and integrating all of their different enterprises on the farm so they work together to improve soil fertility and in turn build sustainability and resilience.

I took a solo trip to get away for a couple of nights. The owners were very responsive to my questions and the cabin was well presented on arrival. A couple of cookies had been left out for me which was a lovely touch. The owners messaged to ask if I'd like them to light the sauna so that it was up to temperature after my walk which I really appreciated. The bed was very comfortable and the outside bath was lovely even with a strong breeze.

We had a lovely stay at Little Doe Bank Cabin. The bed was soooo comfy and the cabin super cosy with the log fire, lots of great games and a good radio. Emma was good at keeping us informed & let us know if we should expect anyone in the field around the cabin. Wellies 100% necessary as are slippers, we had to leave our car 3 fields away to prevent being stuck in the mud which is worth knowing.
21/01/2024Kay
My partner and I had a beautiful stay at Little Doe Bank Cabin. Placed in the middle of a large field it was exactly what we needed to switch off and reconnect. Emily provided everything and went above and beyond with all our requests. This is a really special place which is made extra special with Emily and her husbands attentiveness and attention to detail. We stayed during the winter and the cabin was very warm when using the wood burner. We even used the bath tub outside which felt like using a hot tub, it was perfect. Bring slippers for inside and wellies/ snow boots for the muddy field!
12/12/2023Nemide
Despite the rainy evening, we had a wonderful stay. The owners left us some delicious local martini which we ended up sipping in the bath tub looking out onto the hills. We sat by the wood burner all night and went on a lovely walk around the neighbouring fields coming back with a bag full of blackberries. You can have nothing less than a cosy and wholesome experience here!

Such a scenic spot, a real getaway from everything. The cabin was so pretty and we loved staying there.
