Overview
You can’t turn your head in A Frame without either seeing a shoulder loosening, calm-inspiring wild view, or a jaw-dropping element of design. Sitting in 18 acres of wildlife reserve, A Frame is found on the same site as her stunning sister spaces, each discreetly positioned to provide space from each other.
Morning will be serving moka coffee and croissant in bed to a deserving other half, as the morning light pours into the mezzanine bedroom from the Velux windows. If you’re in the mood to kick back and relax, you could easily lose days cooking one decadent meal after the next in the modern kitchen, dining under the mezzanine to the aspect view of the valley, as easily as you could be clinking glasses on the loungers on the decking outside.
Be warned, the space is off-grid, and whilst it has the electricity – it's USB only, so don’t pack the hairdryer! If you’ve risen early with the birdsong, and taken a dew-drop laden morning walk around the meandering rivers of the grounds, come back to an outdoor deluge shower to start the day in the fresh valley air. If you’re a lie-in fanatic, don’t fret, sundown offers a twilight dip in the wood-fired hot tub, watching amber and purple turn to blue and black, and finally give way to starshine.

Meet The Pritchard Family
The family have farmed in St Margaret's for four generations (so far!) and The Fold has been built on the family farm. With all the banks, trees, and streams the land is better suited for childish adventures and walks with the dogs. Matthew used to love playing on the land as a child, and the family have many happy memories playing the brooks and rolling down the hill.
For the last 20 years Matthew has been a builder and has worked on a variety of challenging projects including ancient churches and modern buildings. Through the Covid-19 lockdown, the 18 acres of land became his solace. He began rediscovering these hidden nooks and dingles dotted along the streams that crisscross the site, and appreciating just how lucky he was to have this beautiful place. Feeling inspired, he came up with the plan to create secluded and unique cabins which provide comfort and space for a luxurious get away –while also being as environmentally-friendly as possible. Matthew has built on his experience in the construction industry to create the exceptional spaces at The Fold.
Wildlife and The Environment
The land is a registered Local Wildlife Reserve and is full of wildlife. There are a wide range of birds including owls, woodpeckers, and a regular visiting heron. In the surrounding fields the family keep lambs in the spring. Matthew has four bee hives in the corner of the site too!
The water on-site is supplied from a borehole, and the site is powered by solar panels. The family have planted over 400 trees onsite so far, and planted over 2,000 bulbs for traditional bluebells, snow drops and daffodils. The family have made plans to plant an area of the farm with wildflowers.

Wonderful and relaxing break in a beautiful location. The property is extremely well equipped with every possible need having been thought about. The outdoor shower was a particular favourite of ours, as was stargazing from the hot tub.
23/10/2024David
Amazing stay! The A Frame was beautifully stunning in such a fabulous location. Great off-grid experience with little luxuries along the way. Had everything needed for a fun and enjoyable trip.
11/09/2024Bethany
Was absolutely amazing! We went for a long weekend to switch off and relax and we did just that! Everything about it was just perfect - the fires, the hot tub, the basics of a kitchen and the pizza oven! Was just a dream

We had 3 nights in the A-Frame in Hereford. It was an utterly magical spot. We were charmed by all the local wildlife - the swifts and swallows circling, the moths in the grasses, the grand old oak trees... we did local walks in the spectacular countryside and had an afternoon in the local town. it was exactly what we needed.
09/08/2024Tomasin
We had a wonderful stay at the A-Frame. We were greeted by a lovely welcome tray and the space was incredible. It felt very secluded although there were other accommodations around and in-use. The space has been designed incredibly well. We loved it.
10/06/2024Emily
We had a wonderful long bank holiday stay at the A Frame. The landscape was beautiful and our favourite part was the decking area. It was a large space and we really loved using the BBQ and pizza oven.
24/05/2024Lewis
We are couple from Taiwan and based in London. We both don't like camping but willing to give gramping a try. The experience in A Frame cabin was fantastic, sleep nicely under stars and wake up peacefully in the great nature. The owner of the cabin provided everything we need, to light up the fire by ourselves was not a problem at all and so much fun. The highlight to me was grilled my own marshmallow beside the campfire light by my own. I definitely recommend it to the people who like us (drown in the city life and need rescue) to enjoy the happiness of simple.
17/05/2024Charlie
The A frame was everything and more! The perfect place to switch off reset and relax. Gazing under the stars at night from the bed or hot tub and relaxing in front of the log burner at night. Hikes to the black mountains and wondering around nearby villages and towns

Spent a long weekend at the A Frame for my 30th Birthday and couldn't have wished for a better place to start the next chapter. The A Frame sits amongst beautiful countryside and is the perfect setting for a peaceful getaway. The Frame itself has everything you could need for the weekend including extras such as a speaker, games, books and fully equipped kitchen making staying away even easier.

We stayed at the gorgeous A frame for a few nights in January. It was such a perfect time. The cabin was so beautifully put together, we had absolutely everything we needed to be cosy, to rest, to go for walks and to cook big meals in the evening.
02/01/2024Madeleine
We had an absolutely lovely and relaxing time at the A frame , you feel completely at home. Everything you need is there, even down to the small details like torches , dog treats , airers. Owning a glamping site myself with my family it was really good to see how other people are approaching it. Highly recommended for anyone to go and stay.

Our stay was memorable, we really enjoyed sitting in the hot tub taking in the views and our dog Syd loved cosying up by the fire. The a frame was beautiful clean and tidy and we appreciated the cake, processco and dog treats on arrival. It was very secluded and private and was the perfect way to spend our nine year anniversary.
23/10/2023Tash
Our stay at the A frame was absolutely amazing. It's like a secret hideaway where you can really switch off and take in nature. I haven't felt so peaceful and relaxed in a long time

28/08/2023Joss
We had the most wonderful weekend stay at the A-Frame. A beautiful place to stay, watching the sunset from the deck, stargazing from the hot tub and chilling by the fire pit! The A-frame has everything you need for a relaxing weekend away. Matt was a great host and had heated the hot tub for us on arrival which was a lovely touch. Thank you for a great stay!
25/08/2023Katie
Had an absolutely wonderful time at the A Frame. Loved the outside shower, massive windows and beautiful views. We explored the surrounding countryside, and really liked Croft Castle, the Black Mountains, and local cider.
14/07/2023Rosie
We couldn't have asked for a better stay, the cabin and space itself was fantastic, the setting and surrounding countryside was beautiful! We made full use of everything on offer; long soaks in the hot tub, BBQ, walking/hiking locally and most of all the distance from urban life.
07/07/2023Adam
We had a very relaxing time at the A frame and enjoyed the firepits and BBQ on the terrace in the great weather we had. Great location for walks in the Black Mountains and exploring Hay on Wye with some lovely pubs nearby.
09/06/2023Oliver
We had an absolutely fabulous time at Matt's A Frame. Such a unique and idyllic setting. I could've spent the entire stay just on site, but was spoilt for things to do, with Hay on Wye nearby and plentiful walks on our doorstep. The A frame was welcoming, comfortable and clean. We were also delighted to receive Welsh cakes and prosecco on our arrival. You can really tell how much care has been taken with the place in order to make sure guests have an enjoyable comfortable stay. We also really loved how the building was designed to be powered mainly by solar and how everything had been thought out with sustainability in mind. We already want to come back!
15/05/2023Laura
We had an amazing time - the a-frame is well built and set out and had everything we needed. The host, Matt, was really nice and super helpful.
07/04/2023Laura
A very relaxing stay, lovely little mid week getaway to recharge our batteries.
15/02/2023Ruth
We stayed for two nights in January, one of the coldest weeks of the year! The cabin is absolutely gorgeous and so well thought out! We were provided with fresh Welsh cakes, apple juice, tea/coffee/hot chocolate and plenty of firewood! The hot tub had already been lit for us too! We were extremely grateful for all of this considering the snowy weather! The space was clean, comfortable and had absolutely amazing views! Our Labrador Winston loved it too with plenty of space outside to run around in! There is a little walk up a steep field to get to the accommodation which wasn’t an issue for us but should be considered. It did take a while to warm the place with the small wood burner, bring lots of layers! The hot tub warms up quite quick though in a couple of hours and the outside shower is lovely and hot! The local bridge inn pub provided us with an amazing pub meal, I would recommend! We would also recommend the circular walk along ‘cats back’ and black hill it had the most amazing views! Would love to come and stay again in summer when it’s a bit warmer!! Thank you for a gorgeous few days.
18/01/2023Nichole
I had the most fabulous stay at the A Frame. It’s been so romantic and the highlight is definitely the hot tub. The design of the building makes it feel so spacious. The kitchen is well equipped - there is not an oven but this did not matter. Close to near by walks. Thanks for a relaxing stay.
19/12/2022Isobel
We had a wonderful honeymoon at the A Frame! It was like a winter wonderland with the snowy fields, wood fired hot tub and beautiful cosy building. We couldn't have asked for anything more.
09/12/2022Berwick
A gooooorgeous location, beautifully built and such an attentive lovely owner!
18/11/2022Isobela
It was great! The A Frame was a wonderful cosy building with a real focus on being environmentally friendly! The fields where the A Frame is located are a great walk and buzzing with sheep!
04/11/2022Calum
We had a great time at the A Frame. Spent our evenings in the hot tub staring at the stars and could even see a galaxy and one shooting star!! Bed is massive which meant we slept really well. Owls can be heard and seen too
23/10/2022Deb, Canopy & Stars
Such a beautiful, well-thought-out stay, the actual building itself and the surrounding area cannot be beaten. The accommodation is very well-equipped and has all the cooking essentials; coffee/tea, sugar, cooking oil etc. As well as the log burner, there's also a small radiator, which is really useful whilst you're waiting for the fire to start and heat up the place. The outside shower was the real highlight; lovely and warm, with great pressure, and very private. The A Frame is just dreamy, and I couldn't recommend it enough!
29/09/2022David, Canopy & Stars
We spent two nights at the A-Frame in a gorgeous part of rural Herefordshire, about 10 miles from Hay and a similar distance from Hereford and the black mountains themselves. The A Frame was delighful, perfectly sized with all the mod-cons.
12/09/2022Simon
Lovely location and it was clear that Matt had put a lot of care, attention and effort into our stay. The wood fired hot tub was a real treat and the A frame was well equipped. The fold is in an ideal location in Herefordshire with plenty of walks and nearby places to visit.
24/08/2022Jack
What an incredible place! We felt very privileged to be the first to stay and loved every minute of it.
19/08/2022Ben
Wow! What a lovely and relaxing stay I had here. The accommodation was beautifully designed (inside and out) and filled with lots of little touches. An evening spent on the decking, watching the sunset is bliss! Hosts are very friendly and helpful too.

We had a very relaxing time at the A frame and enjoyed the firepits and BBQ on the terrace in the great weather we had. Great location for walks in the Black Mountains and exploring Hay on Wye with some lovely pubs nearby.

We had an amazing time - the a-frame is well built and set out and had everything we needed. The host, Matt, was really nice and super helpful.

We had a wonderful honeymoon at the A Frame! It was like a winter wonderland with the snowy fields, wood fired hot tub and beautiful cosy building. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

It was great! The A Frame was a wonderful cosy building with a real focus on being environmentally friendly! The fields where the A Frame is located are a great walk and buzzing with sheep!

We had a great time at the A Frame. Spent our evenings in the hot tub staring at the stars and could even see a galaxy and one shooting star!! Bed is massive which meant we slept really well. Owls can be heard and seen too

We spent two nights at the A-Frame in a gorgeous part of rural Herefordshire, about 10 miles from Hay and a similar distance from Hereford and the black mountains themselves. The A Frame was delighful, perfectly sized with all the mod-cons.

Lovely location and it was clear that Matt had put a lot of care, attention and effort into our stay. The wood fired hot tub was a real treat and the A frame was well equipped. The fold is in an ideal location in Herefordshire with plenty of walks and nearby places to visit.

Wow! What a lovely and relaxing stay I had here. The accommodation was beautifully designed (inside and out) and filled with lots of little touches. An evening spent on the decking, watching the sunset is bliss! Hosts are very friendly and helpful too.
