Overview
Set in the beautiful and tranquil Dorset countryside, Silent Owl has stunning panoramic views in which to lose yourself for hours. You may see deer ignoring the hedge limits, hares, badgers and the occasional fox, buzzards, red kites and kestrels. Listen carefully and you may hear tawny owls and woodpeckers in the trees.
The owners built Silent Owl, which sits unobtrusively in the field next to their house, with the same consideration for its environment as its sister lodge Red Kite – with orientation such that guests will have their own privacy.
As you stroll across a small bridge to the space, you’ll find large French doors on a covered wrap-around deck, revealing an open-plan living area, and a well-equipped kitchen running the length of the back wall. In the far corner sits a raised sleeping platform with an amazing panoramic window where you can spend lazy mornings in the king-size bed, watching the wind tug trees while you relish your lie in. To your right, you will struggle not to notice the grand copper bath tempting you in at all hours of the day. The one enclosed space at the far end is a stunning walk-in rainfall shower.
Outside you are spoilt for choice - a covered, illuminated deck with wood fired hot tub and pizza oven – complete with lounging chairs to while away day and night. Just in front, a fire pit for toasting marshmallows under the clear nights of Cranborne Chase Dark Skies Reserve.
Should you miraculously wish to venture any further than the lodge’s confines, you can drive 35 minutes to the cobbled streets of Frome, to nearby Wardour Castle or to spot peacocks on the lawn of the magical Larmer Tree Gardens. With shops and pubs also a short drive away, you’re as close and as far as you’d want to be to civilisation.

Meet Andy and Jane
Andy and Jane moved to the site following careers in different commercial sectors establishing a new farming business raising cattle. With no accommodation on site, they applied to live in a temporary home. Planning was granted to site a mobile home for 3 years whilst they sought to build a profitable farming business. With the prospect of living in a 'small space', the owners were keen to live in a structure offering a high quality of living. After a fortunate watching of the first episode of George Clark's Amazing Spaces featuring a pyramid bothy, Andy and Jane contacted Echo Living and became their second commission.
Following the establishment of the farming business, they applied for planning to build their own permanent farmhouse. A great amount of time was spent in looking at location and vernacular to ensure this building would also sit softly in such an amazing landscape which sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Space of Scientific Interest. To help minimise impact, they dug down into the slope so that the lower level of the new house is effectively in the ground with the upper level sitting at a similar height to the original lodge. Continuing the theme of softly sitting buildings the new house is topped with a mono pitch zinc roof with the walls clad in larch which will silver to the same colour as the lodge.
During the construction of the new house with so many people commenting on the amazing location and how well the lodge sat in the landscape Andy and Jane decided to apply for permission which was granted to retain the lodge, now named Red Kite as a holiday house.
They have now received planning for two further lodges with Silent Owl being the first of these two additions and have been equally careful in the siting and use of materials ensuring privacy for guests and for the lodge to sit peacefully in its context.
Wildlife & Environment
Wild Cherry Lodges sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the site is of Special Scientific Interest. The lodge was designed and made by Echo Living with a strong focus on sustainability. There is plenty of wildlife right on your doorstep such as pheasants, deer, owls hooting in the wood behind, red kites, buzzards and plenty more. Please note there may be some noise on occasion from the farm depending on activities, though minimal for the majority of the time.

Jez
My partner and I recently spent 3 nights at Silent Owl. 3 perfect nights in a wonderfully peaceful, beautifully designed cabin. The location speaks for itself, set in the stunning countryside on the Wiltshire / Dorest border, but it was the cabin that really took our breaths away. Every detail had been considered by the lovely hosts Andy and Jane. From the very detailed welcome information to the cookies, eggs and milk kindly left in the fridge. From the well-equipped kitchen to the generous supplies of wood for the fire. The wood burner was a must for a particularly chilly weekend in March but with a gentle fire burning in the evenings we couldn’t have been cosier snuggled in the warm cabin enjoying the peace of being away from the city. We also completed 2 of the walking routes recommended by Andy and Jane. Both really easy to follow and took us on lovely varied routes through farmland, woodland and open countryside. A perfect weekend away that we will definitely repeat at some point in the future. I really can’t recommend this place highly enough.

We had an amazing stay at Silent Owl, the cabin is fantastic, has everything you need and we really enjoyed the hot tub! The location is beautiful, so peaceful and just makes it a real retreat!

We stayed in an amazing lodge in Wiltshire and really loved the experience. The design and location of the build was incredible. We had a great chat with the owners as we left all about the decisions they took to make it, it was great to learn a bit more about them.

We have just returned from the most exquisite stay at Silent Owl. The location is beautiful, rolling hills and huge skies, and the accomodation is absolutely top-notch, like a luxury hotel experience rolled into a rustic country building that could pass as a sheep shelter from the outside. The attention to detail was amazing; the hosts have poured so much love into Silent Owl. We enjoyed the wood-fired hot tub very much on the chilly January nights and had fun cooking our own pizzas in the pizza oven. We had one of the best weekends ever, and we hope to return in the future. The area was wonderful too; we enjoyed some hilly but beautiful running and visited some lovely farm shops. What can I say? Silent Owl is so special, indulgent, and beautiful.

We’ve just had an amazing stay at Silent Owl - the accommodation was luxurious and peaceful, with everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing few days. Really generous thoughtful items put out for our arrival which was a lovely surprise! On the first morning, we woke up to an incredible sunrise, and we loved sitting on the sofa and looking out at the view. Andy and Jane have obviously put a lot of care and attention into all the small details, which was very much appreciated - such as laminating instructions for a selection of local walks. Despite the weather we did 2 of the walks, which were stunning. Thank you Andy and Jane.

The stay was wonderful, the cabin is cosy and clean and located in beautiful surrounds. Sunrise over Win Green was a particular treat.
20/12/2024Charlie
Beautiful cabin in a peaceful setting. Fantastic amenities. A summer stay with a clear sky would be fabulous for star gazing.
29/11/2024Natalie
Beautiful setting for a complete getaway
24/11/2024george
My partner and I spent 2 nights in this beautiful, quaint lodge. Our expectations has been thoroughly met and we enjoyed every minute of it being connected with nature and having slow, quiet retreat. Silent owl is probably our best stay yet. The view during sunrise is just magnificent. I highly recommend this place to anyone who just want to escape the bustling urban areas for a very rewarding experience.
20/11/2024Desiree
We had a lovely two night stay at Silent Owl. It is a nicely secluded location and well appointed. The woodburning stove and facilities suited us very nicely. A well presented, hotel-room style 'cabin' rather than rustic finish. Great views, and nice walking from the door.
11/11/2024Tom
Our stay was perfect from start to finish. Easy self check in process, the cabin was cosy and had everything we needed and more. We felt totally secluded in our tranquil bubble with lovely pubs/restaurants only a short walk away when we wanted to venture out. Generous allowance for firewood so we were able to fully enjoy the stove, wood fired oven and outdoor bath
07/11/2024Nian
Was wonderful staying at silent owl! The views were stunning, the aesthetic of the cabin was beautiful and cosy. It was also well stocked on cooking supplies, games and loved the free fudge! We were glad to have a car as the near by towns and farm shops were very cute (as recommended by the owners). They were also very responsive when we had a question.
01/11/2024Holly
We had a lovely stay at Silent Owl. The easy access to logs and well-stocked kitchen was so convenient and the welcome pack we received from Andy & Jane was very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the walks that they provided too (clear instructions, good maps). Providing eggs, sweet treats, robes etc. was a lovely touch and the toiletries were great too. Would definitely stay here again!
21/10/2024Tabitha
The perfect birthday escape for a couple of days with beautiful views. The area was lovely and the weather was perfect. Loved using the wood fired hot tub! Such a nice feature.
16/10/2024Katie
Tranquility and luxury all wrapped up together in one. Silent Owl is the perfect place to unwind and relax in the most wonderful setting overlooking fields with cows grazing. The wood fired hot tub on the outside decking was super looking out watching the sun set and seeing the starry skies above. There are lots of thoughtful extras including delicious fudge, marshmallows, eggs and tea coffee etc as well as a selection of games, lots of cosy throws and blankets and plenty of logs/kindle for the log burner.
14/10/2024Vanessa
It was without a doubt the best cabin we have ever stayed in. It felt so special, every tiny detail had been thought about. The quality of things like the crockery, utensils and dressing gowns just made it feel so luxurious. A bit of an odd thing to comment on maybe but I really noticed it! Luxury coupled with feeling completely remote and in nature. We loved seeing the cows in the morning. And the outdoor tub is so special. Our hosts were immediately responsive and helpful.
23/09/2024Katie
Silent Owl is unlike any other property you will ever visit. It is beautifully quiet and serene. The place has been finished to such a high quality, it genuinely blew us away. The attention to detail is wonderful, the layout beautiful, the light and picture window totally absorbing amd the space everything you need it to be. I can't remember ever being in a place that made me feel so disconnected and relaxed. It genuinely is the perfect escape. The hot tub, pizza oven, log fire and beautiful bath were brilliant and the touches wonderful (from the games box to books and snacks on arrival). The owners were kind and thoughtful and the surrounding countryside beautiful. We will be back.
26/08/2024Jackie
My partner and I stayed at Silent Owl for 2 nights in July, we had a wonderful stay. The cabin was stunning, it was extremely peaceful and there were lots of boardgames provided to keep us entertained. The wood-fired hot tub was a highlight and we cooked some amazing food outside over fire. The cows came over to graze every now and again, they were curious and friendly. We also brought our telescope and spent some time fireside stargazing in the evening, overall a perfect break.
22/07/2024Angelina
We absolutely loved our stay at Silent Owl. It’s in a stunning location, and the cabin has all you need, and things you didn’t even know you needed! Everything has been carefully thought about, and you immediately feel at home as soon as you park up. We will definitely stay here again.
19/07/2024Gill
The clue is in the name, very silent and very owly! Truly a stunning place. Thoroughly recommend.
01/07/2024Rachael
We celebrated our anniversary in this beautiful spot, loved it as soon as we arrived, everything very high spec and helpful owners made sure we got in safely after we missed the welcome email. Great views from the hot tub. Don't know what else to say other than how perfect it was!
31/05/2024Jack
Our favourite trip to date with Canopy & Stars. It was obvious the attention to detail that the owners, Andy & Jane have given to Silent Owl and it was a perfect place to spend a few days. We never tired of the view and enjoyed exploring the local area. We wouldn't think twice about returning and if you want to get away from it all and spend time in the countryside I can't think of anywhere better.
24/05/2024Mike
Every second was exactly how we dreamed it would be. Beautiful, peaceful, and simply amazing.
10/05/2024Shaun
We stayed at Silent Owl as my birthday retreat. It was idyllic, with just woods and fields as our view (plus the occasional owl swooping past)
03/05/2024Mark
My husband and I stayed at Silent Owl for a little honeymoon and it was perfect! Silent Owl is a truly magical place and exactly what we needed after all the wedding chaos. Everything about silent owl was well thought out and the hosts were wonderful. The views of the surrounding countryside were stunning and the bed was one the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in! We plan to return again and may even make it an annual visit!
25/03/2024Keri
We stayed at Silent Owl for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday. Our stay was perfect! The lodge was beautiful and looked exactly as it does on the website. We had the pleasure of meeting Andy & Jane during our stay and they were so friendly and easily contactable when we ran out of fire starters (our fault because we used to many! Plenty were provided in the first instance.). The lodge was fully equipped with everything we needed during our stay and the complimentary cookies and crisps on the table were a nice touch! We were also sent a welcome pack a week before our stay which covered everything we needed to know about the lodge before we arrived. I would highly recommend Silent Owl.
08/03/2024Krystal
We had a relaxing long weekend in this lovely cabin. We had everything we needed with a fully equipped kitchen. The views were stunning and we felt enormously cosy looking out from the fire.
23/02/2024Rudi
Lovely peaceful great location and view.
12/02/2024Ruth
Fantastic stay. We loved the style of the cabin. The wood burning pizza oven was cool. The wood burning bath tub was brilliant but takes a little longer than expected to get to the heat required. The views in the day are breathtaking and on a clear night the stars sparkle. We found the location a great one, plenty of nice walks to take and good pubs to enjoy. Andy was friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with. The generous amount of wood provided is excellent. Never a worry of running out. The cabin was clean and had everything needed to make it functional. The cabin is very private and the panoramic views are a highlight. We can really soak in nature.
09/02/2024Josh
We has a beautiful few nights at the Silent Owl Cabin in Dorset.

Our stay was perfect. The cabin, the setting, the amenities and the attention to detail were spot on. We loved everything about Silent Owl and will be rebooking again for the Spring.
24/11/2023Amanda
It was phenomenal. Absolutely the reset button we needed. The space couldn’t have been more idyllic - that view, the baths!! The bed. Fire, pizza oven. Insane
22/11/2023Sophie
we had a lovely, peaceful stay at silent owl. the location was great, felt very secluded and relaxed with lots of countryside walks nearby. the wood-fired tub and pizza oven were great and the bed was very comfortable!
20/11/2023ellie
I could not recommend Silent Owl enough, it exceeded all my expectations, the location is stunning and so peaceful. The owners provide detailed descriptions of how to use everything at the lodge, which was extremely helpful. On arrival they had a little tray with marshmallows to toast on the fire pit and a couple of snacks which was really sweet. The bed was extremely comfortable so I had a great nights sleep! You can fully switch off from the outside world here which this day and age is usually impossible so I would 100% recommend the stay to anyone.
15/11/2023Chantelle
Silent Owl is AMAZING! We had such a peaceful and relaxing break - wish we could have stayed longer. The surrounding countryside is absolutely stunning and the cabin itself is designed beautifully. Lots of care and attention has clearly been put into the place to ensure you have the best stay possible! The wood fired hot tub was an added bonus! Especially at night being able to look up at the stars. Would 100% recommend for a couples weekend away!
13/11/2023Morgan
Thank you Andy & Jane for a perfect stay at Silent Owl! We ended up getting engaged under the stars next to the firepit and couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy a bit of time to ourselves to get used to how it felt! Everything we needed we found, including a lot of peace and quiet. We'll be back!
03/11/2023Tom
Lovely cabin in a nice location, perfect for couples. Not too remote but quiet, the cabin had lots of amenities and was very cosy.
30/10/2023Olivia
Our stay was amazing, very relaxing and just the break we needed. The views were stunning, the log burner and hot tub were wonderful and the cabin was perfect. We have now stayed at 9 different canopy and stars locations and while they have all been wonderful Silent owl is definitely our favourite and the only one we have gone back too!

We have a wonderful stay at Silent Owl. The cabin has been built with no expense spared and it makes for a beautiful space. The hot tub is wonderful and overlooks the rolling fields ahead. It has everything that we could possibly want and we will certainly be booking again.

We had a great time at Silent Owl, It was quiet and remote and such a beautiful setting
09/10/2023Ben
We had a gorgeous relaxing time staying in this beautiful cabin / lodge . The views were amazing and so restful, and inside and out was so cosy comfortable and just lovely The outside bath and the hot weather meant that we didn’t use the beautiful inside bath , I’d love to come back in cooler weather and then use both baths !
06/09/2023Carol
We absolutely loved Silent Owl! It was quiet, cosy, well equipped with activities and very clean. We can’t wait to come back!

We really enjoyed our break and felt like we had a longer holiday than just two nights, it was so relaxing! Surrounded by beautiful countryside it felt so peaceful and the cabin itself was perfect, everything was really well thought out! We loved soaking in the hot tub at sunset. We visited one of the pubs nearby, did one of the walks that start from the doorstep, and made good use of bath, wood burner and pizza oven as well. Had a great sleep and really enjoyed watching the moon rise in the evening and sun rise in the morning. We were excited to hear owls hooting in the woods. Overall it was a very relaxing break with no interruptions or issues. Would definitely stay there again!
28/08/2023Suvi
Fantastic lodge with beautiful views of the countryside and also clear views over the southern sky for stargazing. We also had a great time making pizzas in the wood-fired pizza oven. Peaceful and quiet.
21/08/2023Tony
The lodge was fully equipped with anything and everything we needed, the facilities were amazing and the memory of the view from the lodge we will treasure for life! We loved the wood fired bath, it was so relaxing. Our hosts were helpful and kind

We absolutely loved our stay at your cabin! It was truly an amazing experience. The peaceful surroundings created the perfect atmosphere for relaxation and tranquility. The cabin itself had a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, from the comfortable furnishings to the warm and inviting decor. We had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. From the well-equipped kitchen to the cozy fireplace, every convenience was provided. We had such a fantastic time during our stay that we are already planning our next visit. We had the pleasure of bumping into the host, Andy, during our stay at the cabin. He was absolutely lovely, His warm and welcoming personality added to the overall experience of our stay.

We stayed for two nights at the silent owl lodge to celebrate my partner's 30th birthday before we headed down to explore more of the south coast. It was very easy to find using the instructions Andy and Jane had to sent to us and very well signposted. When arriving, the lodge was immaculate and we were blown away by the view. Andy and Jane had thought about every little detail from the spices in the kitchen to the outdoor throws and cushions. We didn't have excellent weather but it didn't matter and actually forced us to relax and enjoy the scenery and hot tub. We played many board games on the patio, watched the cows in the fields and occasionally saw a few deers. We did venture out to visit gold hill and have breakfast on the morning which wasn't far and definitely worth a visit. My partner, now fiance, proposed on the first night so silent owl will always have a special place in our hearts and a memory we will never forget. We can only thank Andy and Jane for their help in making the lodge so special and for our stay! I'm sure we will be back in the future.

A really peaceful, secluded and relaxing cabin, with everything we could possibly need to enjoy the good weather and endure the bad - despite a day of solid rain it was the perfect place to chill, play some board games and read. The owners Andy and Jane were very attentive and welcoming, and the cabin was lovely. There are some great pubs and a deli only a couple of miles' walk away. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking proper meals and we had a lovely relaxing evening in the hot tub, even spotting the eponymous owl as dusk fell.
21/07/2023Oliver
Very peaceful, the most beautiful location & had everything we needed. Instructions for the lodge were really useful & lovely surrounding walls & pubs.

We spent 3 nights over a long weekend in June at Silent Owl for our honeymoon and enjoyed every minute. The owners sent a lot of information in advance, including detailed directions to the parking. Silent Owl is in a rural location, and it is a long walk to the nearest town of Semley, uphill on the way back. The ownersther property is next door, but it is cleverly designed to maximise the privacy of guests and apart from the farmer mowing the grass on Monday morning, we did not see anyone else during our stay. On the first evening we tried out the wood fired hot tub which was amazing! Very warm and with detailed instructions on how to light it provided. We also tried to cook pizza in the wood fired oven, slightly less successfully, although we did manage better on other nights! In any case, there is a full kitchen and oven/hob in case wood fired cooking is not your thing. On the Saturday we drove down to the famed Jurassic coast, and admired the lovely Dorset towns and villages we passed through. On Sunday we visited Semley village shop, which is lovely ( if a little pricey). We took one of the walks described by the owners (there are 4) which was a little challenging (hilly!).

Silent owl is a beautiful place in a beautiful location. Andy and Jane were perfect hosts, leaving lots of useful information, ideas to enjoy the area and even some treats to enjoy during our stay. The cabin is furnished perfectly and felt very cosey, with all the essentials so we could cook anything we wanted. Andy and Jane are very generous with the required wood and materials so we could enjoy all the cabin had to offer and it felt very private and safe for us to relax.
26/05/2023Oliver
We had the perfect stay. Complete peace and privacy. Beautiful area and fantastic place everything was done so well.
16/05/2023Louise
Wonderful stay in the peaceful countryside. Lodge was so well designed. Smell of oiled oak when you first enter the house, the radio on the kitchen windowsill, soft robes next to the bathtub, a jar of marshmallows to cook on the fire are only a few details that come to mind that delighted us.
02/05/2023Rich
A fabulous peaceful stay at this lodge. The weather wasn’t the best but the views from the lodge and the wood burner are more than enough to totally unwind in this peaceful haven.
28/04/2023Paul
What a place!! The most beautiful, peaceful location. Fantastic accommodation with the most incredible views. Some wonderful places to visit around the local area too. Highly recommended.
21/04/2023Matthew
We had a peaceful two night stay in this gorgeous location - the lodge was well thought out, stylish and yet practical too - we feel as though we've been away for a week!
17/04/2023Tracey
We had to most relaxing stay at the Silent Owl for my husband’s birthday. The Silent Owl has everything you need for a quite uninterrupted break. So quiet and and dark at night! Think I’ve just had the best nights sleep in a long time. We will definitely be returning.
12/04/2023Hayley
Silent Owl was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. It was really comfy and luxurious with everything you need to relax and unwind.
07/04/2023Jessica
Fantastic location, the view changed throughout the day and as the weather changed. Both the hot tub and roll top bath add an extra layer of luxury to a wonderfully open yet cosy space. Highly recommended
05/04/2023Rosie
We absolutely loved the cabin - it was so beautifully and thoughtfully designed to make the most of the amazing views. We loved using the wood fired hot tub and making pizzas in the pizza oven, and then eating them wrapped up in blankets looking at the stars! Lovely walks recommended by owners too - we did a loop around Wardour Castle and to the pub at Donhead St Andrew. Thank you!
03/04/2023Georgina
Lovely relaxing time at silent owl. Fab views , great log burner , amazing bath .
27/03/2023Claire
We had a wonderful stay at Silent Owl - it was just the downtime we needed. The cabin is decorated beautifully with thoughtful details. We particularly enjoyed the selection of games and of course the hot tub! Such a lovely peaceful spot and would 100% return.
24/03/2023Claire
What an absolutely beautiful place, I cannot recommend it enough. The building is spacious and cosy at the same time, the facilities are brilliant and well maintained, and it is the best-equipped place I've ever stayed in. Plus a great view!
17/03/2023Andy
We such a lovely, relaxing, stay at Silent Owl. The lodge was beautifully set up with some lovely touches, such as the well chosen furnishings, warm blankets and games. An attractive location, quiet with nice views and a very cosy feel to the whole place. The hosts were very welcoming but were careful to provide privacy. So lovely and relaxing!
08/03/2023Keren
I booked Silent Owl for my partner's birthday. We wanted a relaxing getaway and it was exactly the right place. I would happily recommend to others. The accommodation was excellent and the hosts, Andy and Jane, were very helpful in the run up to, and during our stay. An ideal place if you want to relax and rewind.
10/02/2023Siobhan
Our stay was so beautiful and relaxing. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The level of attention given to creature comforts within the owl was beautiful . Not to mention the lovely snacks and guides put out by the hosts . Overall a beautiful stay.
01/02/2023Victoria
We had a great time relaxing in the bath next to the log fire and letting our troubles melt away. The surrounding views were amazing with regular visits from Red Kites, Kestrels and the local cows. The nearby walks were scenic and fulfilling whilst having the option to choose a shorter route if required.
27/01/2023Louise
We had a wonderful Christmas at Silent Owl. We were looking for a rural retreat away from the city and this ticked all our boxes. We were able to stargaze at night - not only outside but also from the sleeping platform with the lovely big window to the sky - so clear! The outdoor pizza oven was really fun (and good for marshmallow toasting too). We spent hours watching the wildlife - particularly the birds in the fields just in front of the deck.
23/12/2022Donna
We chose silent owl for the beautiful location, digital detox (no wifi), hot tub, wood burner and general cosy looking cabin. We had an amazing/relaxing time, we wish we could've stayed longer!
21/11/2022Annie
Silent Owl was the perfect hideaway. Beautifully set into the landscape and equipped with all the needed essentials as well as the luxuries. The outdoor woodfired tub under the stars was epic!
24/10/2022Hannah
The Silent Owl is a must-visit for anyone looking for a digital detox and a chance to reconnect with nature. The cabin is easy to get to from London, Andy and Jane's attention to detail is evident in the beautifully decorated and clean space. The wood-fired hot tub under the stars was an amazing experience and the cabin is located by a field with very curious and friendly cows. The owners were very friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend the Silent Owl to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.
17/10/2022Martin
We had a wonderful stay at Silent Owl, from the moment we arrived to the minute we (didn't want to) leave! Set in a beautiful spot with absolutely stunning views, we were surrounded by peace and quiet, apart from bird song and the sound of owls calling to each other at night (really!). Silent Owl itself is incredibly comfortable. We loved the big bath in the lodge and the warmth of the woodburner. We took the wherewithal to make pizzas in the pizza oven, great success, and sitting in the outdoor hot tub/bath while the moon rose was very special. The suggested walks in the area were a treat also. Many thanks to Andy and Jane for making this such a gorgeous retreat, we hope to be back soon!
07/10/2022Lalu
Silent Owl was in a truly unique and picturesque location, overlooking beautiful country side and a short drive away from amenities. Andy and Jane our hosts were extremely helpful with recommendations and assistance when we needed it. Our stay was relaxing and exactly what was needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living.
19/09/2022Sam
Our stay was wonderful. Our hosts were lovely and accommodating, and the location was easy to find.
09/09/2022Maxwell Miles
The silent owl is incredible! From the beautiful decor to the stunning views of the countryside! We enjoyed the technology detox and making use of all the facilties- the hot tub, pizza oven, indoor fire to the copper bath. It was clean, super cozy and bed was very comfy. The welcome pack from Jane and Andy was very helpful prior to our stay and had all the info we needed for our stay. Cannot reccomend the Silent Owl enough. We will deffo be returning.
07/09/2022Laurel
Wonderful stay. It was so needed after an exciting and busy wedding. We loved just enjoying the lovely scenery and nature in just each other's company.
02/09/2022Charlotte
Silent owl was amazing - a really beautifully designed place, very peaceful and cosy. It's a really lovely spot too, with lots of wildlife nearby. The owners were extremely helpful and arranged a hamper for us on request, and checked in by text to make sure we were ok. We had a brilliant time!
22/08/2022Grace
Absolutely beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting. Very well equipped lodge & we had a great time using the pizza oven & lovely copper bath! Added bonus was how clear the skies were & being in a dark skies area for stargazing - breathtaking views. Only wish we’d stayed longer, and will definitely have to return to make use of the wood fired hot tub!
15/08/2022Karen
We had an amazing relaxing stay, enjoying the great weather and beautiful scenery and the quiet, which is something we don't experience very often with such busy lives
10/08/2022Lisa
Absolutely stunning! Beautiful lodge, amazing scenery and so peaceful. We didn't want to leave!
29/07/2022Ian
We spent four wonderful nights at Silent Owl, enjoying the beautiful cabin and peaceful surroundings. It has everything you need but also feels worlds away from day-to-day life. We particularly enjoyed cooking outdoors, the big copper bath, watching the wildlife (deer, hares, rabbits, kestrels...) and just generally unwinding. There are pretty villages to explore nearby but the cabin is so beautiful you may not want to leave. Thank you Andy and Jane for being great hosts and letting us stay in Silent Owl!
25/07/2022Kate
Wow - we had an amazing time at Silent Owl. The cabin itself is gorgeous and has everything you need, from comfortable bed and seating, well-equipped kitchen, warm shower and lovely toiletries. We made the most of the outdoor space, especially enjoying cooking on the outdoor oven and relaxing in the hot tub. The hosts provided marshmallows and toasting forks which were great! The location is brilliant, quiet and isolated, with lovely views but not too far from the main roads. Lots to see in the local area and would definitely recommend a lunch at Pythouse Kitchen Garden! (As recommended by the hosts in their comprehensive information pack which we received in advance via email).
18/07/2022Alex
Stayed here for 4 nights, location was great for us as we like a relaxed peaceful environment. View from the lodge is breathtaking. The lodge has been well thought out, they really have thought of everything. You are not overlooked by anyone. Especially loved the freestanding copper bath. Bed was very comfortable and kitchen well equipped. We saw plenty of birds from the decking area and the moonrise was magnificent, luckily it was a full moon too. The owners are very helpful and friendly. I would definitely return as we quiet often book this type of quirky accommodation whilst having holiday trips in the U.K and have to admit that this is one of the best we have stayed in. You won’t be disappointed in booking this place, you really won’t.
11/07/2022Kelvin
We booked our stay at the last minute and knew we wanted peace and quiet amongst nature. We got that and more. Set in rural Wiltshire away from major roads, meant that in the evenings we could watch the moon rise over Donhead St Mary while enjoying the wood-fired hot tub with hardly a sound except birds. We heard song thrushes, buzzards, pheasants and owls. The quality of the accommodation felt less glamping and more luxury apartment. Andy was very helpful when we had any problem and offered suggestions for where to eat. It is a good base for travelling up to Bath and also to the South Coast, however, on reflection we should have done more walks closer to Silent Owl.
13/06/2022David
We absolutely loved our stay in Silent Owl. It was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Andy and Jane were the perfect hosts, so friendly and kind. We would come back in a heart beat!
07/06/2022Emma
Booked for a couples birthday weekend away. Absolutely perfect in every way. Such a beautiful lodge with stunning attention to detail, gorgeous views and truly lovely hosts. Stayed for 3 nights and made great use of the beautiful copper bath, wood-fired pizza oven, wood-burning stove and the wood-fired outside bath. Extremely clean and well-presented, supplied with everything you would need and potentially forgotten (towels, bath robes, blankets etc).
03/06/2022Stephanie
Absolutely unbelievable.. there are no real words to describe our stay at the Silent Owl. In the middle of a beautiful field with peace all around you apart from the birds signing, it was the perfect setting for the most relaxing few days. The interior of the lodge was beautiful and the small features the lodge has (log fire/pizza oven and log fire hot tub) kept us busy throughout the day. Owners are absolutely amazing and so helpful with instructions on the log fires. I’ll definitely be back and this time see the animals around the farm!
01/06/2022Adam
If you visit, you won't be disappointed! The carefully considered space showcases true craftmanship with no detail gone amiss. The panoramic views of the scenic countryside and quaint village beyond can be enjoyed from the wood-fired hot tub or blissful copper bath which sits just inside the spacious cabin. With lots to do nearby, come and do as much or as little as you wish.

We're super excited to be adding Andy and Jane's latest space. A wonderful addition to the collection. The feedback for Red Kite should give you a good feel for what it will be like. Book a stay and be the first to write a review!

It was phenomenal. Absolutely the reset button we needed. The space couldn’t have been more idyllic - that view, the baths!! The bed. Fire, pizza oven. Insane

Lovely cabin in a nice location, perfect for couples. Not too remote but quiet, the cabin had lots of amenities and was very cosy.

27/10/2023Michelle
We have a wonderful stay at Silent Owl. The cabin has been built with no expense spared and it makes for a beautiful space. The hot tub is wonderful and overlooks the rolling fields ahead. It has everything that we could possibly want and we will certainly be booking again.

Fantastic lodge with beautiful views of the countryside and also clear views over the southern sky for stargazing. We also had a great time making pizzas in the wood-fired pizza oven. Peaceful and quiet.

We had the perfect stay. Complete peace and privacy. Beautiful area and fantastic place everything was done so well.

A fabulous peaceful stay at this lodge. The weather wasn’t the best but the views from the lodge and the wood burner are more than enough to totally unwind in this peaceful haven.

What a place!! The most beautiful, peaceful location. Fantastic accommodation with the most incredible views. Some wonderful places to visit around the local area too. Highly recommended.

We had a peaceful two night stay in this gorgeous location - the lodge was well thought out, stylish and yet practical too - we feel as though we've been away for a week!

We had to most relaxing stay at the Silent Owl for my husband’s birthday. The Silent Owl has everything you need for a quite uninterrupted break. So quiet and and dark at night! Think I’ve just had the best nights sleep in a long time. We will definitely be returning.

Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay at Silent Owl - it was just the downtime we needed. The cabin is decorated beautifully with thoughtful details. We particularly enjoyed the selection of games and of course the hot tub! Such a lovely peaceful spot and would 100% return.

What an absolutely beautiful place, I cannot recommend it enough. The building is spacious and cosy at the same time, the facilities are brilliant and well maintained, and it is the best-equipped place I've ever stayed in. Plus a great view!

We absolutely loved our stay in Silent Owl. It was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. Andy and Jane were the perfect hosts, so friendly and kind. We would come back in a heart beat!
