Overview
Lanzarote’s volcanic soil makes for a distinct landscape, with dark earth fringed by white beaches and the seemingly endless blue of the Atlantic. On the quieter side of the island, near the old fishing village of Arrieta, you find this lovely, sustainable resort, set a few hundred metres from the coast. Finca Arrieta is a great place for family fun or to base yourself for exploration of the islands. There are pools and a boat playground, a sunken trampoline and all sorts of games and activities. Kids can roam free in the shared areas, collect the freshly-laid eggs from the hens and say hello to the donkeys, while couples can sneak off to the beach, just a stroll down the road. Even the parents can take advantage of the babysitting service and head into the village for dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants, or arrange meal deliveries, massages and champagne back at the yurt.
Eco Palm Yurt, as with all the spaces at Finca Arrieta, is set in its own fenced area, with a private loo, shower hut, kitchen, bbq and sun loungers. It’s a cosy, colourful space with a super king-size bed and enough room for a folding bed or travel cot if you need one. The kitchen is an al fresco affair, making for perfect breakfasts in the shade of the palms, or late evenings sitting out under the stars with a glass of the chilled cava you’ll find in your welcome hamper.
While there’s plenty to do around Finca Arrieta itself, ask your hosts Michelle and Tila about all the great ways to explore the island. They’ve created the camp with a twin dedication to sustainability and discovery, inviting you to see a new side of the remote islands off the coast of Africa, taking home great memories and leaving only footprints. There are guided hikes and boat trips to the tiny, road-free island of La Graciosa, surfing and diving all along the shore and the chance to see the local culture thriving on the less-travelled side of a famous destination.

Activities
At Finca de Arrieta
There's so much to do at the retreat that you'll have to remind yourself there's the rest of Lanzarote to explore too! Kids will love meeting other children at the play park, jumping on the trampoline and visiting the animals, where you can collect your own eggs every morning and feed the hens, donkeys and ducks. And that's without mentioning the swimming pool and beach!
There's also a library, and a concierge available 7 days a week to organise trips and provide information on the island.
Places to Visit
The nearest beach, Playa La Garrita, is just 300 meters away. It is a white sand beach, ideal for sunbathing and water activities. It is also a great spot for water sports, and there is a surf school on the beach, along with restaurants and bars.
The Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism - Consisting of seven essential places to visit across the island, these attractions combine natural beauty with innovation, art with eco. Tickets for entry to 4 or 6 centres are available, to be used over a 7 day period. You can purchase these from any tourist information office.
Timanfaya or Fire Mountains - the breath taking beauty of the lunar landscape
Monumento Al Campensino Museum - museum created to celebrate the local crafts people
Cueva De Los Verdes - experience the flow of the lava with the huge lava tube
Jameos Del Agua - natural rock pool and music auditorium created by Manrique
Jardin de Cactus - the stylish and artistic home to millions of cacti
Castillo De San Jose - stylish art gallery and restaurant overlooking the ocean
Mirador Del Rio - stunning lookout over the tiny island of La Graciosa
The Vineyards of La Gería - With their traditional methods of cultivation, the vineyards in the centre of the island are a protected area. Single vines are planted in pits 4-5m wide and 2-3m deep, with small stone walls around each pit. This agricultural technique is designed to harvest rainfall and overnight dew and to protect the plants from the winds. The vineyards are part of the World Heritage Site. A visit to one of the many family owned bodegas in this area is a must do during your stay.
La Graciosa Island Day Trip - La Graciosa is the smallest inhabited island of the Canary Islands and remains unspoilt with no roads, just 500 inhabitants and fantastic white sandy beaches, a perfect place to spend a day of your holiday. With its relaxed and under developed vibe, the island prides itself on resisting the pull of mainstream tourism and its magical charm comes from its simplicity.
Finca de Arrieta offers a package giving you the opportunity of spending a day on La Graciosa, including return boat trip, lunch and a visit to the island's best beach.
Outdoor & Active
Catalanza Catamaran Sailing - Sun, Sea and Sailing! Enjoy a fabulous day on board a luxury catamaran, sailing from the stunning marina of Puerto Calero. Ride the jet ski, snorkel and swim or simply relax on board with the highly experienced crew. Adult only and family sailings available.
Surf and Body Boarding - Just starting out? Michelle and Tila can recommend a highly professional school for lessons in surfing and body boarding at Arrieta, Famara or La Santa. Courses available for children & adults, and beginners or experienced surfers.
Calipso Scuba Diving - become a qualified Scuba diver in just 2 days, "try a dive" for beginners, PADI and BASC courses, snorkelling trips for the whole family.
Guided Walks with Blackstone - The best way to explore the island is by foot, taking in the detail of the terrain and breathing the fresh air. Combined with local area knowledge from a native islander, this is our idea of the perfect day out in Lanzarote.
Further Ideas: Submarine Safari, Rancho Texas Tropical Park, Mountain and Road Biking, these are just a few more ideas of days out to enjoy with family and friends in Lanzarote. Speak to Sally at the Finca de Arrieta on-site office to learn more about recommended activities.

Finca de Arrieta has a very friendly, social vibe to it and the location is ideal: you’re just a few minutes’ walk from the beach and village. I slept like a log in the Beach yurt and enjoyed a morning shower with sunrise view over the sea! There’s no shortage of things to do on site and in the surrounding area, yet also plenty of areas to simply relax! The welcome was warm and I definitely hope to return!
