Overview
GoGreen Roulotte is a colourful dash of red and white among the greenery of its peaceful, private spot in the French countryside. With nobody else around, you can wander undisturbed from the sofa or the double bed, out to lie in the hammock or relax next to the little lake. At night you’ll see the stars come out in the Dordogne’s unspoilt sky as you light the fire bowl or the BBQ and soak up the peace of the lapping water and gentle frog chorus. The roulotte has an en suite loo and a quirky outdoor shower that puts a little adventure into the everyday.
Once you’re settled into GoGreen Roulotte, you might just never leave. Around their land you’ll find rope swings and relaxation spots, perhaps meeting guests from the cabin, although you share no facilities or access. If you do decide to explore the Dordogne or just pick up some supplies, then the local village of Jumilhac le Grand has a bakery and a mini market. Jumilhac Le Grand, has a small artisan market outside the striking chateau every Sunday, as well a few restaurants and ghostly evening tours of the historic buildings. At Miallet there is the Barrage - a huge reservoir where you can picnic then bike and hike around its 8km circumference, and at Bussiere Galant and Corgnac Sur Isle are fun velo rails, little carriages that you pedal along on a disused railway line. If all the adventure tires you out, you can be sure that an evening back in the calm surrounds of GoGreen Roulotte will completely restore you.

Hotel De Fance, Saint Pardoux (25 km) - A great place to go for either lunch or an evening meal. Set menu options are normally on offer. Local produce used. You can eat either inside or there is a large terrace out the back.
Rumeurs Bistro - The owner's English friends, Sam and Richard run this restaurant. It is only open in the evenings. Wednesday to Saturday and the occasional Sunday. The menu offers everything from snails, scallops, steaks, burgers and salads with homemade desserts.
Ferm Auberge - des Bradoux, Lieu dit Gatinelie, Miallet - If you want to sample an authentic French meal where the local French workers eat then you must go here. The lovely old couple who own and run this place are just fantastic. You must book at least 24 hours before you would like to go. There is a set meal each lunchtime. They are not open in the evenings. The food is homemade and sometimes home reared.
Hostellerie St Jacques (18 km) - This is a great place to go for a special treat whilst on holiday. Offers a 7 course taster menu or modern inventive French dishes. You can eat either inside or outside on their beautiful terrace.
A baguette vending machine (yes this is for real!) - located in Saint Priest Les Fougeres next to the Maire - baguettes are 1.10 euros and are freshly made each day by a local baker

Places to visit
Jumilhac Le Grand - every Tuesday evening there is a small artisan market outside the fairy tale chateaux. You can eat in the local restaurant and then just as it gets dark you can go for an evening ghostly tour around the chateaux or you can try the regional market on a Sunday morning.
Brantome is known as French Venice - it is an absolutely beautiful town with lots of restaurants and cafes. On a Friday morning there is a large market. Otherwise you can canoe around the town or take day trips canoeing around the area also. There is a large park you can picnic in or kick a football around in. There is a small play area and crazy golf.
Saint Saud, Ruffec, Nantheuil and Saint Estephe all have swimming lakes and little beaches with cafes, changing rooms, toilets, play areas and paths to walk around. All are free to access and to park at. Over the summer months sometimes you can hire canoes, pedalos and even have a go at jet skiing.
Saint Jean de Cole is a beautiful village which is definitely worth visiting - one of the prettiest villages in France.
There are weekly french markets at Piegut Pluviers on a Wednesday, Brantome on a Friday and a small one at La Coquille on a Thursday.
Horse riding at Saint Yrieix La Perche.
Outdoor & Active
GoGreen Holidays are located in the Regional National Park - there are some fantastic walks and trails.
At Miallet there is the Barrage which is a huge reservoir where you can picnic at, and either bike or walk around. It is approximately 8km all the way round. There are bird watching areas and great fishing spots.
As well as the Velo rail at Bussiere Galant there is one at Corgnac Sur Isle. These are great fun. They are little carriages that you pedal along on a disused railway line. You go up and down under the trees and at the one at Corgnac Sur Isle you can get an ice cream when you are half way! You can get 5 people on a carriage / bike.
There are normal bike trails that you can use again on disused railway lines. We like the one from Chalus to Champagnac La Riveria as you can stop at La Gare for an ice cream and a drink and you can hire bikes at Chalus.

Meet your hosts
Meet Sophie & Simon
Sophie and Simon purchased the lakes and created GoGreen Holidays in March 2017. Back then they were a family of four, which has now turned into five, with a love for the outdoors, fishing, walking, camping, BBQ-ing and generally spending time together outside in the fresh air and sunshine.
The lakes hadn’t been used much for the previous 15 years or so but they knew they were stocked with lots of fish – Carp, Black Bass, Perch, little pumkin seeds, the odd Pike and Tench. Sophie and Simon fell in love with the lakes as soon as they set eyes on them. They were in need of lots of work with lots of lake and tree maintenance. There was an existing cabin which Sophie and Simon have renovated and extended. The cabin is clad in wood from their own forest and they have made various compost bins, fish food bins, a compostable toilet and a shed, all from their own wood. They also created the parking area, dug a well and made a water tower.
Wildlife & Environment
GoGreen Holidays is in a beautiful part of rural France within the Regional National Park within the Perigord Vert. There is an abundance of wildlife around the lakes - fish, frogs, crayfish, deers, kingfishers, cuckoos, coypu, wild boar, ducks, buzzards, foxes, badgers, otters, pine martins, the list goes on!
The site is totally off-grid with a solar panel for lighting and a gas powered fridge and a gas powered boiler for hot water. Where possible Sophie and Simon have reused materials and sourced items locally in renovating the cabin and putting in facilities around the lake. The pair have purposely left areas natural to encourage wildlife. From all the branches that had fallen over the years and branches from any trees that they have had to clear, they have made “dead hedges” by lying the branches and twigs on top of each other to look like a hedge. These have worked perfectly in defining areas and to provide extra shelter and protection for wildlife.

A place of exceptional beauty and tranquillity, a cabin in the woods, by a lakeside with nothing to do but totally relax , sit on the deck and listen to the frog song.
