Overview
This region is well worth exploring if you’ve never been and equally worth returning to if you have. The bike trails are world class, with a 1.2km track on the farm itself and the longest continuous descent (a knee-rattling two miles) in either Wales or England. Glyndwr's Way runs through the farm too and will take you through into mountains, and forests, through moors and along rivers, beaches and Roman roads on various sections of its 135-mile length. End the day with dinner at one of the great local pubs, before coming back to Nyth Y Barcud to slump onto the sofa, or ease those stiff muscles in the bookable sauna and plunge pool.
You’ll find the treehouse tucked into a forested corner of Beudy Banc, about 200m from the nearest of the farm’s scattering of cool cabins. There’s a double bed in the room to the rear and the sofa bed for kids in the main living area. The whole space is kept toasty by a big wood burner and modern facilities in the kitchen and bathroom mean you’ll have some much-needed comfort after a day out exploring. You’ll also have the chance to wildlife watch in a couple of ways – first while lazing out on the deck and second while lazing on the sofa, looking down through the window in the floor.

We had a lovely stay, everything was clean and the views were stunning. Perfect for a short break away! Felt totally off grid which was needed.
27/02/2025Andrea
It was awesome. Lovely setting and some really lovely touches. The fire was on for us when we arrived. They provided some very nice options you don’t normally get such as cooking oil, clothes, salt and pepper, and even the loo roll was nice quality

We had a lovely cosy 2 night stay in the tree house. The kitchen was very small but had all we needed to make breakfast and heat up our dinners. No TV or phone signal so had nothing to do but watch the log burner, drink tea, listen to the river running below, and chat. Feel very refreshed! Really comfy warm bed too.

I chose Nyth y Barcud Treehouse because of it's great location in the Welsh hills of Snowdonia. I was particularly drawn to the treehouse because of it's quirky structure being surrounded by trees with great views and because most importantly it was dog friendly. Kodi our dog enjoyed many hours sitting on the balcony watching the birds, leaves and squirrels surrounding the tree house while we also enjoyed the beautiful surroundings in complete peace. The log burner was so cosy at night and it was another of Kodi's favourite things to do, we all enjoyed it's warmth and glow!
04/11/2024Adele
Fantastic off grid get away. The treehouse was spacious and well equipped for a few days away from our busy lives.
16/10/2024Charlotte
A great get-away in a peaceful secluded location. There were some other treehouse / shepherd's hut style units in the same location, but they were far enough away that we could feel completely isolated (in a good way!) We enjoyed the setting and the basic feel of the property, while being able to stay warm and dry inside.
29/09/2024Rich
The place is just wonderful, sound of water flowing, the fire, the glass panel on the floor, so many amazing details on top of the incredible scenery. Very comfy bed also!
18/09/2024Lucy
It exceeded my expectations. The location is amazing. The tranquility and natural surroundings were perfect. The weather became irrelevant due to the natural beauty, rain, sun, wind and cloud all added to the atmosphere. Perfect place to turn off the WiFi and escape the hum drum of every day life.
09/09/2024Val
The treehouse was exactly what we needed as a little mini honeymoon after our wedding. We could spend some quality time together without anyone disturbing us. There isn't much signal but who needs their phones anyway!
02/09/2024Hayley
We stayed here as a family of 4 with our dog for 2 nights. We absolutely loved it. So quiet and peaceful, surrounded by beautiful countryside walks. The children loved playing in the stream that ran under the treehouse. The log burner and Campfire were also highlights!!
31/08/2024Alex
Our treehouse stay was the perfect getaway, surrounded by nature and tranquillity in beautiful Wales. Nyth y Barcud Treehouse was the ideal location for us to either explore the local coastline and mountains, or relax with a cosy fire and enjoy a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
02/08/2024Daniel
Wonderful. We've been before and just love it. We stayed in the treehouse this time and it's just genius, the glass floor, being in the trees. The attention to detail is superb.
07/06/2024Emma
It was the most relaxing experience. Right up there in the trees. Coffee in the morning listening to the river, the sheep, the birds in the trees idyllic. Small perfectly formed space, I loved the glass in the floor where I could watch the river even when inside. The town down the road was lovely and we went to Aberystwyth for the day. We brought our toddler and I was worried about that but the balcony was very safe there was little to worry about. We played in the river below sometimes so he wanted to do that all the time but thankfully couldn't get over the balcony.
19/05/2024Cat
We absolutely loved our stay in the treehouse. The setting is idyllic, so peaceful, and we enjoyed just sitting and listening to the water flowing below us and the leaves of the trees rustling above us. The treehouse is positioned in such a way that it's incredibly private, we felt like the only people for miles. The treehouse has been well thought out and beautifully finished: the layout is perfect and the decor fabulous. The location was great, with shops and pubs nearby, and lots of beautiful places to explore - although we'd have happily spent the whole time relaxing at the treehouse. The whole stay was wonderful and we were very sad to leave.
14/05/2024Emma
Loved the location. Loads of space between the cabins, a beautiful stream and countryside surrounding, and a quirky treehouse set over the stream. The treehouse was spacious for the 3 of us.
26/03/2024Matthew
It was a lovely break in the most beautiful setting. No sounds, no light pollution...just trees, hills and birdsong. Absolute healing for mind and soul! We read books, made great food, celebrated a birthday, walked Cadar Idris, ached the next day, and read more good books. A perfect few nights away.
31/01/2024Tina
We loved it, such a beautiful place and treehouse. Great place to relax and walk and repeat !
12/01/2024Melissa
We stayed with our twin babies for a short break during the week and was blown away at the sheer detail of the treehouse. It was nestled beautifully amongst the Welsh hill and above a stream. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we’re sad to leave.
10/12/2023Maryam
Everything was as informed by Dafydd & Ceris on arrival. We were pleasantly surprised at how inviting & comfortable the treehouse was. It is idyllic & with the fire going, glass of wine in hand & that lovely view through the floor to ceiling window, we were so chilled within half an hour of arrival.
13/10/2023Katherine
We have an absolutely lovely time at Nyth y Barcud Treehouse. It's was beautifully designed while also being very practical. Its position literally right amongst the trees was magical and Dafydd and Ceri were very friendly and helpful and where able to provide great tips on the area.
05/08/2023Nikki
Staying at nyth y barcud was outstanding, the location totally exceeded our expectations on the pure tranquility and peacefulness. The design and layout of the treehouse was stunning. We loved
04/06/2023Kelly
We had the most amazing stay! The treehouse was perfect and my partner enjoyed the nearby moutain bike trails. Our springer spaniel loved his stay too, I think he was just as sad as us to be going home. We went on some lovely walks with the most amazing views we have ever seen. We all really enjoyed this stay so much. Will definitely be back.
08/05/2023Tara
Absolutely fantastic. The treehouse suited our needs perfectly and such a beautiful setting too.
05/05/2023Gabs
Nyth y Barcud is incredibly peaceful. The cabin itself is really homely and quick to heat up with the wood burner. The area around it is stunning. Beautiful walking straight from the cabin.
12/04/2023Guy
This was our first ever treehouse experience, upon arriving we were amazed with the sceneries - we were situated in a valley with sites over the mountains one side and high trees the other. Our tree house was built over a small brook which could be heard constantly, the space big enough for two adults, two children and a dog. Another benefit was the local walks which we took advantage of early in the morning to watch the sunrise or the foggy mornings. We will be looking to return.
06/04/2023Cameron
Fantastic stay, absolutely loved the cabin, it was perfect and helped by beautiful weather I have to say
02/04/2023Danielle
My husband, Labrador, Cocker Spaniel and I had the most amazing time in Nyth y Barcud Treehouse. It overlooks a beautiful stream surrounded by ancient oak trees with a view of a Forest out of the main entrance. We loved the little log burner which warmed the whole treehouse within minutes. Wales truly is beautiful and we would highly recommend walking parts of Glynwr’s Way.
27/03/2023Jessie
It was our first Canopy & Stars trip, and it didn't disappoint! It was a true escape from reality, just what we needed. A detox from technology, time together as a family, and surrounded by beautiful nature. Nyth y Barcud treehouse exceeded our expectations, in a stunning setting, I don't think it will be our last visit!
24/03/2023Ella
A quiet remote treehouse, most notably having wonderful views out of every window, the soundtrack of the stay is the wonderful stream flowing below. The accommodation is perfectly apportioned, with a very efficient log burner, everything you need for a kitchenette and shower room, and a comfortable bed. The local areas is truly Beautiful and there is plenty to see and do.
13/03/2023Aaron
The treehouse was lovely, well presented and a cosy living space for the weekend. It is positioned next to a wonderful walk up the hills where we took some great photos. Really easy to find!
10/03/2023Andrew
We had an excellent stay myself, husband, 2 year old and dog. The treehouse had everything we needed and was kept toasty warm by the log burner (of which plenty of logs were provided). The location was stunning and the walking/running route was perfect.
01/03/2023Kate
Fantastic family and dog-friendly break. The Treehouse was amazing. It had everything we needed for a few days 'off the grid' in mid-Wales. Perfect location for exploring with beach or mountain walks just 20 mins away. The Treehouse was peaceful and had great views over a babbling brook, a toasty log burner, a hot shower, an outdoor firepit and a handy USB charger. The sky at night was just incredible!
23/02/2023Nicola
We had a super time in the treehouse with our young daughter a 'first' for all of us! It was cosy and kept us warm and dry in the storm. We would have liked to see a heatproof glove for use when adjusting the fire as the handle got hot to touch. Also a bin in the kitchen area would be good and we both banged various parts of us on the corner of the work surface above the coolbox - don't know if something could be put on the corner without spoiling the lovely style? We enjoyed the local trails, perhaps a laminated copy of the map would have been good to take out with us as we had to rely on a screenshot on our phone to get us round. All in all, a superb stay and we would be interested in some of the other accomodation if we come that way for a holiday again.
17/10/2022Sarah
My family and I absolutely loved the treehouse. No tv, no phone, perfect stay, kids were absolutely fine on the sofa bed, and the weather was perfect as well! Ideal location to travel around Wales, and not far to beautiful walks with Red Kites
04/08/2022CJ
Fantastic peaceful location, great accommodation with fantastic views.
08/07/2022Jamie
Lovely place. Completely self sufficient. Didn't need to contact anyone. Lovely easy to get to the treehouse. Clean, with so much space and not one place overlooked the treehouse.
12/06/2022Lydia
The treehouse was a perfect escape from the world for the weekend. Super cosy cabin with beautiful walks right in the doorstep! The two stove tops and provided cool box allowed us to stay in in the evenings and enjoy the peacefulness. The hosts were fab in providing ice packs for the cool box and additional guidance on how to light the fire. A glorious off grid weekend filled with being cosy playing board games and lots of local walks.
13/05/2022Rachael
We had a brilliant stay at the treehouse - it is in a beautiful spot and we loved looking at & listening to the stream bubbling away underneath & the scenery through the huge windows. Our children loved the window in the floor! The treehouse has everything we needed & warmed up very quickly with the wood burner. There was lots to do in the local area too - great trips to the beach & walks in the hills. We’d definitely come back.
11/04/2022Rachael
We booked a treehouse as part of our 7 week UK road trip with 2 children. The tree house was very well equipped. In a lovely location and there was a glass panel in the floor!
08/03/2022Melanie
Absolutely stunning location. Really peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle, and the perfect location to switch off from it all. We went on a hike each day as there is so much beautiful scenery around and then we really enjoyed curling up in front of the log burner each night with a glass of wine and just chilling out.

The tree house was exactly what we imagined from the pictures. It was actually better than our expectation in lots of ways. The surrounding nature and animals were excellent addition. Eco friendly house was also a bonus. I mean, who would have thought you could get gas stove and hot showers on a frickin tree house?!!! Dafydd and Ceri was very personable and friendly too. Really appreciated all their help and accommodating us.

It was so so peaceful and in a stunning part of the world. We loved the fact that although there are other cabins/ treehouses, we didn't notice or hear anyone else. It was private, relaxing and the scenery was amazing.

My husband and I along with our two children (aged 12 and 9 yrs) and dog, stayed for 3 nights at Nyth y Barcud Treehouse. We all thoroughly enjoyed the treehouse and the surrounding farmland.

We're super excited to be adding Dafydd's latest space. A wonderful addition to the collection. The feedback for Beudy Banc Treehouse should give you a good feel for what it will be like. Book a stay and be the first to write a review!

This was a long weekend away with my sister and dog, using a voucher and present chipped in for my 30th and Christmas. With work being very busy at the moment, it was really important to have a trip away with a total switch off, back to nature, but with also an element of it feeling like more of a treat. This place was absolutely wonderful. Everything flowed with ease, the environment felt super accommodating, clear instructions, but left to our own devices. When we first arrived we walked around the whole site on a 5km walk and we were met with spectacular views and sunsets and it only got better. The sauna was a wonderful extra touch, which we enjoyed twice, once after a very long day hiking up Cader Idris. We were excited to explore the surrounding area, but also just enjoy the peace and quiet of the treehouse. Overall, it was exactly what we both needed (and the dog) for a wonderful trip away and we were both very grateful for that, and didn't actually want to leave at the end of it. We will definitely hope to come again and stay, maybe with our parents too. It felt like somewhere too special to not visit again. Thanks again to the hosts for sharing their special place x

Fantastic off grid get away. The treehouse was spacious and well equipped for a few days away from our busy lives.

A great get-away in a peaceful secluded location. There were some other treehouse / shepherd's hut style units in the same location, but they were far enough away that we could feel completely isolated (in a good way!) We enjoyed the setting and the basic feel of the property, while being able to stay warm and dry inside.

The place is just wonderful, sound of water flowing, the fire, the glass panel on the floor, so many amazing details on top of the incredible scenery. Very comfy bed also!

The treehouse was exactly what we needed as a little mini honeymoon after our wedding. We could spend some quality time together without anyone disturbing us. There isn't much signal but who needs their phones anyway!

We stayed here as a family of 4 with our dog for 2 nights. We absolutely loved it. So quiet and peaceful, surrounded by beautiful countryside walks. The children loved playing in the stream that ran under the treehouse. The log burner and Campfire were also highlights!!

Wonderful. We've been before and just love it. We stayed in the treehouse this time and it's just genius, the glass floor, being in the trees. The attention to detail is superb.

Loved the location. Loads of space between the cabins, a beautiful stream and countryside surrounding, and a quirky treehouse set over the stream. The treehouse was spacious for the 3 of us.

We stayed with our twin babies for a short break during the week and was blown away at the sheer detail of the treehouse. It was nestled beautifully amongst the Welsh hill and above a stream. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we’re sad to leave.

We have an absolutely lovely time at Nyth y Barcud Treehouse. It's was beautifully designed while also being very practical. Its position literally right amongst the trees was magical and Dafydd and Ceri were very friendly and helpful and where able to provide great tips on the area.

Nyth y Barcud is incredibly peaceful. The cabin itself is really homely and quick to heat up with the wood burner. The area around it is stunning. Beautiful walking straight from the cabin.

Fantastic stay, absolutely loved the cabin, it was perfect and helped by beautiful weather I have to say

The treehouse was lovely, well presented and a cosy living space for the weekend. It is positioned next to a wonderful walk up the hills where we took some great photos. Really easy to find!

We had an excellent stay myself, husband, 2 year old and dog. The treehouse had everything we needed and was kept toasty warm by the log burner (of which plenty of logs were provided). The location was stunning and the walking/running route was perfect.

My family and I absolutely loved the treehouse. No tv, no phone, perfect stay, kids were absolutely fine on the sofa bed, and the weather was perfect as well! Ideal location to travel around Wales, and not far to beautiful walks with Red Kites

Lovely place. Completely self sufficient. Didn't need to contact anyone. Lovely easy to get to the treehouse. Clean, with so much space and not one place overlooked the treehouse.

We booked a treehouse as part of our 7 week UK road trip with 2 children. The tree house was very well equipped. In a lovely location and there was a glass panel in the floor!

Absolutely stunning location. Really peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle, and the perfect location to switch off from it all. We went on a hike each day as there is so much beautiful scenery around and then we really enjoyed curling up in front of the log burner each night with a glass of wine and just chilling out.
