Overview
At the foothills of the Preseli Mountains just ten minutes' drive from the Pembrokeshire coast you'll find Cwt Gwyrdd, a blissfully quiet and secluded spot to unwind. The camp, made up of a shepherd’s hut, matching bathroom cabin and a barn-style pod, hidden in the trees, is perched right above the river, and the perfect spot for nature lovers to de-stress.
Outside, you can dine on the deck, lounge on the upcycled benches or gather around the campfire with drinks as the stars come out. Your kitchen’s found just adjacent in a hut, and you can cook there or out on the firepit – using the pizza dome if you fancy a fresh pie.
Meet the friendly ponies in the paddock over the fence and enjoy the company of a couple of adorable cats or head down to the river to ‘the beach’ to spot wildlife or wild swim. Or take it super easy, and just enjoy an hour on the swing, or swaying in the hammock.
There’s a picnic basket for you to carry to a green spot of your choice and more than enough freshly laid eggs to choose from when it comes to filling it up. And Lucie is happy to share her delicious cakes when she’s baking!
Cwt Gwrydd Shepherd's Hut is for autumn/winter bookings only. For spring/summer bookings, please see Cwt Gwyrdd.

Perfect little get away hut. Everything we needed all in one place and we was lucky enough that the rain held off so we could watch the stars in such a dark remote part of the country. Was an amazing experiance, thank you!

Complete heaven.

Everything about the camp was perfect. Lucie has thought of everything, from the essentials in the kitchen to the homely touches. The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in, something you would never expect when camping! The setting is beautiful and exactly as the pictures show. Our only regret is only staying for two nights!
11/08/2017Jessica
It was lovely and relaxing. The shepherd's hut felt like a little home from home, and it felt very private. Would definitely stay there again.
09/09/2016Amanda
Amazing, it was full of special touches which really made the surprise all the better. The spot was really quiet and secluded and the Hut was well stocked and the welcome basket was full of far more than we needed. Louise even offered us a lift intoff town which was out of her way and very generous.
02/09/2016Rob
We had such a lovely time at Cwt Gwyrdd. It was so peaceful and tranquil, we could not have asked for a more relaxing break. Our host Lucie had thought of everything to go in this cosy Shepherds Hut in the beautiful surroundings of Pembrokeshire. We will definitely have to return for a longer stay.
30/08/2016Sophie
Wow! it was amazing! The most perfect honeymoon we could ever have wished for. Comfortable, peaceful, tasteful and extremely romantic!
14/08/2016Joanne
My partner and I came to a compromise to glamp as I feel I've done all the camping I want to which is how he discovered Canopy and Stars. The photos of Cwt Gwyrdd looked lovely and I'm a big fan of peace and quiet plus all of the positive reviews made us choose this one. I was so excited once we got there because it was even better than the photos. Lucie was lovely and the hamper we received for breakfast with 'proper' coffee and marshmallows was such a nice touch. Everything from the decor to woodburner and firepit was perfect. The bathroom was really nice and spacious and had bathrobes. I loved the birdfeeders and enjoyed eating breakfast watching all the birds and we were visitied everyday by the chickens. This place is completely 5 star.
07/08/2016Nicola
We had a blissful weekend the Sheppard's hut was wonderful and in such tranquil surroundings with only the occasional visit from range chicken's or resident cats. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud! An ideal getaway.
16/07/2016Christine
Amazing little hideaway where we had such a nice relaxing weekend. The cabin is beautifully finished and the location is a tranquil piece of seclusion. Everything we needed to relax and unwind. Would definitely come back!
09/07/2016Steve
It was amazing! Lucie was lovely; the hut was fabulous - lots of privacy and in a super beautiful spot.... We were greeted by cheeky suirels, fab horses, cosy cats and very chatty jay birds. The fire pit was a joy to sit around til late into the night and the bed was dreamy. Was all perfect - we can't wait to go back :)
10/06/2016Nadia
Incredible 4 days of bliss, sometimes you just have to stop and Cwt Gwyrdd is the place to do it, get back to what really matters!
30/05/2016Paul
Our stay was amazing, so cosy and relaxing. I booked this holiday for my partners birthday as a surprise. Lucie, the host, made my partner a lovely chocolate birthday cake which was lush! The Shepherds hut was so relaxing, cosy and warm with the log burner. The big bed was so comfy.... We loved the sound of the stream, very soothing..... being surrounded by animals helped make the stay magical....oh and the swing on the tree! We got to see lots of the lovely coast line and towns. We were so lucky to have fab sunshine which enabled us to enjoy a barbecue outside the hut! We enjoyed ourselves so much we did not want to leave. Well done to Lucie for creating the perfect haven....

Had a wonderful stay at Cwt Gwyrdd. It is a great place to relax and take in the world around you to a soundtrack of bird song and the babbling of the brook. There are so many birds, including jays and woodpeckers, making themselves busy at the feeders - all of which can be viewed whilst you're snug in the hut. I even heard otters in the river one evening. The resident cats (and goose) were regular visitors and all lovey characters. The hut itself is very snug and has everything you could possibly need. Imagine falling asleep to the sound of the babbling brook and waking to the dawn chorus - it doesn't get much better than that. The hut is very comfortable and nicely decorated, Lucie obviously has a flair for interior design. The break served as a reminder to stop and spend some time watching nature and I'm very thankful for that.
29/04/2016Jane
Our stay was amazing! So much so we actually stayed two more nights as we loved it so much. Perfect location with a peaceful babbling stream and beautiful scenery. The breakfast hamper was perfect and the shepherds hut had everything you could wish for, even the bathroom was wonderful clean and compact. We had to drag ourselves away from the place on our last day. Lucie was a kind and attentive host always on hand if something was needed but also great to have a little chat with. We felt very welcome and this stay was the perfect little break we needed. We have planned our next trip to wales so we can go back to Cwt Gwyrdd
19/04/2016Billy
It was magical. Cwt Gwyrdd is a piece of paradise! The setting is beautiful, shepherds hut cosy and the extra touches of hamper and fire pit to toast marshmallows made it the perfect getaway. Lucie and Tim were fantastic hosts and helped us to make the most of our stay and explore beautiful Pembrokeshire. We can't wait to book again and come back!
18/03/2016Kelly
It was our first adventure together as a couple and it was beyond perfect. The hit was lovely and had everything we needed for out few days stay. We explored the local areas of Pembrokeshire national park which were beautiful. Every morning we had breakfast out in the sun with the sound of the stream next to us and the horses nearby. Lucie the owner was very helpful and friendly and she provided us with a lovely breakfast basket and marshmallows to toast over the fire.
20/10/2015Chloe
Our stay was short and sweet. We arrived on a Friday evening and were welcomed by Lucie who showed us to the hut. She had made up a hamper of eggs from her chickens, coffee, muesli and marshmallows for toasting on the fire. The fridge was stocked with bacon, milk, butter and jams. Lucie had even made me some birthday cupcakes! The hut was so cosy and we had a comfortable bed for rest and relaxation. We had plenty of privacy and were able to be completely independent. The surrounding area is so beautiful and we filled our days with visits to castles and abbeys, beaches and pretty Welsh villages. Cwt Gwyrdd is perfect for explorers, but equally magical if you just want to lay back and read a good book, watching the birds out of the window. We were lucky enough to have Lucie's cats pay us a visit too. Would recommend to others and look forward to our next visit.
16/10/2015Joanne
We had an absolute superb stay at Cwt Gwyrdd. The shepherd's hut has been decorated with authenticity and care. We were able to enjoy three nights here and although the weather was not kind for us there were places to eat in Newport and nice walks along the beach in easy access. We loved the breakfast basket that you get on arrival, which we were able to enjoy over our three mornings. I loved the log burner and welsh blankets which meant you could tuck up warm. The bird feeder was filled which meant every morning we could enjoy the wild birds. The location on the river was perfect and listening to the trickle of water was relaxing and enjoyable. The cats and the curious horse in the field were great company. We are both big animal lovers and that added to our stay. I have to congratulate Lucie for developing such a little haven of peacefulness. It was perfect for a mini retreat. I was impressed that the showers were hot and compast toilet was easy to use. It is a very well thought out enterprise.
21/09/2015Corrie
The location is incredibly beautiful, and really does look exactly like the photos. Lucie was a very welcoming host, without being intrusive, and made us feel we could always ask if we needed anything. The breakfast hamper is great, with very tasty eggs. The cabin itself is so charming, it is really comfy, and everything one could need is provided, including a log burner for those chilly evenings. Can't wait to go back!
01/09/2015Katie
We had a fantastic stay. Lucie had provided a lovely welcome hamper and a birthday cake for my husband. There were lots of lovely cosy features and everything was thought of that we could want. The setting by the stream was magical, we had a great time relaxing here.
27/08/2015Joanne
Our first anniversary was spent at Cwt Gwyrdd. We couldn't have asked for anything more than what we received. The shepherds hut was in an idyllic location and was stunningly renovated with such beautiful thought and consideration. Every little aspect was brilliantly put together and we were so welcomed by the owner.
23/07/2015Rose
We went away for our first wedding anniversary and cwt Gwyrdd was the perfect romantic gateway. New to anything like this we loved how the hut had all the home comforts we would need including a lovely hot shower. The location of the hut was perfect, set in its own private space right next to a stream. I loved sleeping with the window open and listening to the peaceful stream bubble past. Lucie was such a friendly and welcoming host, she let us discover the hut alone but I felt if we had of needed anything we could of easily approached her. There was a lovely breakfast basket complete with fresh egg from her chickens. We felt so special with the extra effort she put in leaving us wine and a card as she knew we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. There was lots to do I the area and we only wished we had stayed longer. We explored the lovely seaside town of Newport which had great pubs and a lovely beach. Honestly the best experience I could of hoped for Cwt Gwyrdd was perfect. I want to head back in the autumn and cozy up in front of the log burner with a book.

We arrived after dark and Lucie, the host, had already put the lights and heater on and showed us the way to the hut. We spent 3 lovely nights at Cwt Gwyrdd. Lucie had thought of everything and had made the hut such a lovely space to be in. It was beautifully and thoughtfully furnished, with places to relax, books to read, a table to eat at and look out at the view. We did most of our nightly meals in the hut and didn't use the camp kitchen, which would have been great in warmer months. The fridge and little kitchen space in the hut were perfect for breakfast and dinner. The bed was comfortable, and with the cushions was the perfect place to read. There were plenty of books as well. The finishing touches were lovely. You could watch the birds at the bird feeder and use the RSPB book to identify them. The meadow with a stream was a lovely setting to wake up in. The location was perfect. We went to St Davids, to Tenby and Stackpole, and even to Teifi Marshes for the Park Run in Cardigan. That was a lovely nature reserve to visit as well. The hut was so nice to come back to at the end of a long day. A beautiful place. :)

We had a fantastic stay. Lucie had provided a lovely welcome hamper and a birthday cake for my husband. There were lots of lovely cosy features and everything was thought of that we could want. The setting by the stream was magical, we had a great time relaxing here.
