Overview
At the foothills of the Preseli Mountains just ten minutes' drive from the Pembrokeshire coast you'll find Cwt Gwyrdd, a blissfully quiet and secluded spot to unwind. The camp, made up of a shepherd’s hut, matching bathroom cabin and a barn-style pod, hidden in the trees, is perched right above the river, and the perfect spot for nature lovers to de-stress.
Outside, you can sit under the covered porch, lounge on the upcycled benches or gather around the campfire with drinks as the stars come out. Your kitchen’s found just adjacent in a hut, and you can cook there or out on the firepit – using the pizza dome if you fancy a fresh pie.
Meet the friendly ponies in the paddock over the fence and enjoy the company of a couple of adorable cats or head down to the river to ‘the beach’ to spot wildlife or wild swim. Or take it super easy, and just enjoy an hour on the swing, or swaying in the hammock.
There’s a picnic basket for you to carry to a green spot of your choice and more than enough freshly laid eggs to choose from when it comes to filling it up. And Lucie is happy to share her delicious cakes when she’s baking!
Cwt Gwyrdd is for spring/summer bookings only. For autumn/winter bookings, please see Cwt Gwyrdd Shepherd's Hut.

Cwt Gwyrdd is set in the most beautiful meadow, with a little stream, hammock, swing and frequent visits from the local ducks and horses. It was a little slice of heaven. Our girls loved exploring the site and collecting firewood for the BBQ. We've made some wonderful memories and it's set in glorious north Pembrokeshire - what more could you wish for! Thank you Luice for such a warm welcome too xx

This place is absolute paradise! Huge secluded site surrounded by a stream and countryside it’s so quiet, just birds sheep and the stream is all you can hear. My new favourite place in the world is sat in the hammock here listening to the stream and letting the world pass me by. Lucie who owns the site is lovely and nothing is too much trouble. We broke down and felt like we were a massive inconvenience but Lucie didn’t mind, offering us recommendations, help and lifts. My son is 9 and dreams of being a vet, so loved being surrounded by their cat, pet ducks, horses and seeing wildlife like eagles and red kites, and much more. We’re already planning our return journey to explore the area more. I feel like a weight was removed from my shoulders after a few days here, but two nights wasn’t enough!

What an amazing place to stay - an absolute must for anyone who wants a relaxing, peaceful stay and loves animals. We stayed on site for the full 4 days and absolutely loved it! we roasted marshmallows on the fire, swam in the River Bannon, explored the site and many more. Lucie is a fabulous host and her cat and horses are so friendly. We loved that we were the only ones on the site. we will definitely return and would recommend this wonderful place to anyone.

This truly tranquil location really lifted my spirits. The joy of just being able to sit outside, watching a kingfisher puzzling over the bird feeder, listening to the dawn chorus and the evensong. Just being able to stop, take a deep breath and recharge my very worn down batteries.
26/05/2022Tracey
Wonderful stay - just a shame we couldn't stay longer!! Really secluded spot, very private and lots of space. Great facilities and Lucie, the host, is excellent - will definitely be returning at some point in the future.

Cwt Gwyrdd is perfectly positioned for hiking, canoeing and wild swimming on the Pembrokeshire coast. It's a private site and when the sun shines, a lovely place to have a BBQ and relax. If the weather isn't on your side, be prepared to book pubs as there isn't really anywhere to sit inside comfortably if there's a group of you (there were 5 of us) and the fridge and oven are really small. The bed in the shepherds hut is so comfortable and cosy - I had some of the best night's sleep there!
16/08/2021Gabie
A truely magical place. We loved the location, the accomodation and the surrounding area. A perfect combination of outdoors "back to basics" and comfort and tasteful decoration and accessories.
31/07/2021Tanya
Cwt Gwyrdd is a magical place. Having the whole site to ourselves meant we could totally relax during our stay. Lucie provided everything one could possibly need and more. The shepherds hut and cabin were beautifully decorated, really cosy and great to snuggle in when it rained. The site was really peaceful and we loved watching the ducks in the river.

We had a 4 night stay (2 couples) in Cwt Gwyrdd at the end of July and had a lovely time. Lucy was friendly and welcoming and suplied us with a delicious breakfast box. We arrived to a bottle of bubbly, sweets in a jar and a vase of wild flowers. The beds in the shepherd's hut and the pod were both really comfortable. The bedding was particularly soft and luxurious (why does my bedding at home never feel like this?!). We had everything we needed in the camp - pots, pans, plates, glasses, etc. We really enjoyed cooking on the open fire and the massive marshmallows in the jar were yummy! The shower in the bathroom hut was brilliant- lots of piping hot water! The surroundings are beautiful, we loved hearing the sound of the river. The camp is private and secluded. We enjoyed the short drive to the coast and walking various sections of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. The scenery is stunning. We even bumped into Carol Vorderman and had a lovely chat!
24/07/2021Jill
We stayed here for 4 nights. It was sheer bliss. The site is wonderfully private with a stream for dipping. We felt like we were alone in the universe! Lucie is a great host and everything is well kitted out, from hot water bottles to hot drinks in every sleeping area to make the stay comfortable. I can only recommend this place!
02/06/2021Jenni
We stayed at Cwt Gwyrdd and are experienced glampers, but this site has been the best we have stayed at. Special thanks to Lucie for creating such a magical and special place.
07/05/2021Rachel
We had a truly wonderful 2 nights here, A hidden gem in West Wales and full credit to Lucie she really has thought of everything you could ever need for every eventuality, we were blessed with lovely sunshine which was an added bonus. We will be sure to return.
30/04/2021Kath
We had a lovely time, it really could not have been better, location, welcome, facilities, all excellent
18/04/2021Sharon
The situation of Cwt Gwyrdd is idyllic, we were blessed with back to back sunshine and only had 2 nights but spent most of it relaxing by the river, watching the birds, listening to the river and listening & watching the sheep and lambs. A solo Mum with two teenagers who've been locked down together for too long it was the perfect break. We played badminton and swingball, lit the fire pit, foraged for wood and spent the whole time outside together - it was bliss.
12/04/2021Jenny
We stayed at Cwt Gwyrdd, we enjoyed the sunshine and privacy in the meadow, the shepherds hut, shower room hut and cabin/pod had all we needed for a comfortable stay. We toasted marshmallows and ate around the camp fire. The coastal walks and views nearby were amazing and just what I needed after lockdown.
30/08/2020Kirsty
What a beautiful, secluded, heavenly location. Immaculately clean every detail considered including a welcome basket, beautiful bedding and blankets, plenty of logs for the fire pit and log burner (it poured on our first night). Great cooking and washing facilities. Didn’t I mention the perfect location? Lucy was a lovely welcoming host and has a stock of back up stuff if required and a bigger fridge in the stables. It really was the perfect start to the summer.
19/07/2019Georgina
Wonderful secluded spot, kind and helpful host.
30/07/2018Andrew
Cwt Grwydd was the perfect place to stay for my family: perfectly private and peaceful with the sights and sounds of nature all around. The whole family was comfortable and cosy in our respective tents/cabins. It felt magical.
31/05/2018Sally
We stayed at Cwt Gwyrdd for three nights in May and wish we'd booked for longer! We spent the mornings lazing around reading, listening to birdsong and enjoying the peace and quiet and the afternoons exploring the North Pembrokeshire countryside. It's like Cornwall but there's more of it, far fewer people and more dramatic.Great places for adventurous wild swimming too.
28/05/2018Rebecca
Our stay at Cwt Gwrydd was absolutely perfect! Myself and three friends were away for the bank holiday weekend for a reunion, and what a weekend it was! We had booked the shepherd's hut, the pod and the bell tent, and all were lovely and comfortable. The camp is located in a stunning area, with a lovely stream flowing past, nearby enough to any amenities but also far out enough that you feel relaxed and away from it all. The camp is second to none, the attention to detail Lucie has put into it is impeccable, you could want for nothing here. From the lovely decor, to the cute tea trays, and the amazingly comfy beds, it really is very glamorous camping! The camp kitchen is kitted out with everything you could need cooking wise. The weather was perfect during our stay so we lazed away the days reading in the sun, and toasting marshmallows on the fire whilst star gazing at night. We were so sad to have to leave! If you get the chance to stay at Cwt Gwyrdd, do it! You won't regret it. We'll be back.
05/05/2018Amy
The perfect setting for a family gathering, my 22,20 and 17 year old loved it there as did we. We used it as a base to visit Newport Beach, Mwnt, Cardigan and the local area and to chill and enjoy each other’s company at the camp.
12/04/2018Alison
Everything about the camp was perfect. Lucie has thought of everything, from the essentials in the kitchen to the homely touches. The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in, something you would never expect when camping! The setting is beautiful and exactly as the pictures show. Our only regret is only staying for two nights!
11/08/2017Jessica
It was lovely and relaxing. The shepherd's hut felt like a little home from home, and it felt very private. Would definitely stay there again.
09/09/2016Amanda
Amazing, it was full of special touches which really made the surprise all the better. The spot was really quiet and secluded and the Hut was well stocked and the welcome basket was full of far more than we needed. Louise even offered us a lift intoff town which was out of her way and very generous.
02/09/2016Rob
We had such a lovely time at Cwt Gwyrdd. It was so peaceful and tranquil, we could not have asked for a more relaxing break. Our host Lucie had thought of everything to go in this cosy Shepherds Hut in the beautiful surroundings of Pembrokeshire. We will definitely have to return for a longer stay.
30/08/2016Sophie
Wow! it was amazing! The most perfect honeymoon we could ever have wished for. Comfortable, peaceful, tasteful and extremely romantic!
14/08/2016Joanne
My partner and I came to a compromise to glamp as I feel I've done all the camping I want to which is how he discovered Canopy and Stars. The photos of Cwt Gwyrdd looked lovely and I'm a big fan of peace and quiet plus all of the positive reviews made us choose this one. I was so excited once we got there because it was even better than the photos. Lucie was lovely and the hamper we received for breakfast with 'proper' coffee and marshmallows was such a nice touch. Everything from the decor to woodburner and firepit was perfect. The bathroom was really nice and spacious and had bathrobes. I loved the birdfeeders and enjoyed eating breakfast watching all the birds and we were visitied everyday by the chickens. This place is completely 5 star.
07/08/2016Nicola
We had a blissful weekend the Sheppard's hut was wonderful and in such tranquil surroundings with only the occasional visit from range chicken's or resident cats. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud! An ideal getaway.
16/07/2016Christine
Amazing little hideaway where we had such a nice relaxing weekend. The cabin is beautifully finished and the location is a tranquil piece of seclusion. Everything we needed to relax and unwind. Would definitely come back!
09/07/2016Steve
It was amazing! Lucie was lovely; the hut was fabulous - lots of privacy and in a super beautiful spot.... We were greeted by cheeky suirels, fab horses, cosy cats and very chatty jay birds. The fire pit was a joy to sit around til late into the night and the bed was dreamy. Was all perfect - we can't wait to go back :)
10/06/2016Nadia
Incredible 4 days of bliss, sometimes you just have to stop and Cwt Gwyrdd is the place to do it, get back to what really matters!
30/05/2016Paul
Our stay was amazing, so cosy and relaxing. I booked this holiday for my partners birthday as a surprise. Lucie, the host, made my partner a lovely chocolate birthday cake which was lush! The Shepherds hut was so relaxing, cosy and warm with the log burner. The big bed was so comfy.... We loved the sound of the stream, very soothing..... being surrounded by animals helped make the stay magical....oh and the swing on the tree! We got to see lots of the lovely coast line and towns. We were so lucky to have fab sunshine which enabled us to enjoy a barbecue outside the hut! We enjoyed ourselves so much we did not want to leave. Well done to Lucie for creating the perfect haven....
03/05/2016Shirley
Had a wonderful stay at Cwt Gwyrdd. It is a great place to relax and take in the world around you to a soundtrack of bird song and the babbling of the brook. There are so many birds, including jays and woodpeckers, making themselves busy at the feeders - all of which can be viewed whilst you're snug in the hut. I even heard otters in the river one evening. The resident cats (and goose) were regular visitors and all lovey characters. The hut itself is very snug and has everything you could possibly need. Imagine falling asleep to the sound of the babbling brook and waking to the dawn chorus - it doesn't get much better than that. The hut is very comfortable and nicely decorated, Lucie obviously has a flair for interior design. The break served as a reminder to stop and spend some time watching nature and I'm very thankful for that.
29/04/2016Jane
Our stay was amazing! So much so we actually stayed two more nights as we loved it so much. Perfect location with a peaceful babbling stream and beautiful scenery. The breakfast hamper was perfect and the shepherds hut had everything you could wish for, even the bathroom was wonderful clean and compact. We had to drag ourselves away from the place on our last day. Lucie was a kind and attentive host always on hand if something was needed but also great to have a little chat with. We felt very welcome and this stay was the perfect little break we needed. We have planned our next trip to wales so we can go back to Cwt Gwyrdd
19/04/2016Billy
It was magical. Cwt Gwyrdd is a piece of paradise! The setting is beautiful, shepherds hut cosy and the extra touches of hamper and fire pit to toast marshmallows made it the perfect getaway. Lucie and Tim were fantastic hosts and helped us to make the most of our stay and explore beautiful Pembrokeshire. We can't wait to book again and come back!
18/03/2016Kelly
It was our first adventure together as a couple and it was beyond perfect. The hit was lovely and had everything we needed for out few days stay. We explored the local areas of Pembrokeshire national park which were beautiful. Every morning we had breakfast out in the sun with the sound of the stream next to us and the horses nearby. Lucie the owner was very helpful and friendly and she provided us with a lovely breakfast basket and marshmallows to toast over the fire.
20/10/2015Chloe
Our stay was short and sweet. We arrived on a Friday evening and were welcomed by Lucie who showed us to the hut. She had made up a hamper of eggs from her chickens, coffee, muesli and marshmallows for toasting on the fire. The fridge was stocked with bacon, milk, butter and jams. Lucie had even made me some birthday cupcakes! The hut was so cosy and we had a comfortable bed for rest and relaxation. We had plenty of privacy and were able to be completely independent. The surrounding area is so beautiful and we filled our days with visits to castles and abbeys, beaches and pretty Welsh villages. Cwt Gwyrdd is perfect for explorers, but equally magical if you just want to lay back and read a good book, watching the birds out of the window. We were lucky enough to have Lucie's cats pay us a visit too. Would recommend to others and look forward to our next visit.
16/10/2015Joanne
We had an absolute superb stay at Cwt Gwyrdd. The shepherd's hut has been decorated with authenticity and care. We were able to enjoy three nights here and although the weather was not kind for us there were places to eat in Newport and nice walks along the beach in easy access. We loved the breakfast basket that you get on arrival, which we were able to enjoy over our three mornings. I loved the log burner and welsh blankets which meant you could tuck up warm. The bird feeder was filled which meant every morning we could enjoy the wild birds. The location on the river was perfect and listening to the trickle of water was relaxing and enjoyable. The cats and the curious horse in the field were great company. We are both big animal lovers and that added to our stay. I have to congratulate Lucie for developing such a little haven of peacefulness. It was perfect for a mini retreat. I was impressed that the showers were hot and compast toilet was easy to use. It is a very well thought out enterprise.
21/09/2015Corrie
The location is incredibly beautiful, and really does look exactly like the photos. Lucie was a very welcoming host, without being intrusive, and made us feel we could always ask if we needed anything. The breakfast hamper is great, with very tasty eggs. The cabin itself is so charming, it is really comfy, and everything one could need is provided, including a log burner for those chilly evenings. Can't wait to go back!

We had a fantastic stay. Lucie had provided a lovely welcome hamper and a birthday cake for my husband. There were lots of lovely cosy features and everything was thought of that we could want. The setting by the stream was magical, we had a great time relaxing here.

Our first anniversary was spent at Cwt Gwyrdd. We couldn't have asked for anything more than what we received. The shepherds hut was in an idyllic location and was stunningly renovated with such beautiful thought and consideration. Every little aspect was brilliantly put together and we were so welcomed by the owner.

We went away for our first wedding anniversary and cwt Gwyrdd was the perfect romantic gateway. New to anything like this we loved how the hut had all the home comforts we would need including a lovely hot shower. The location of the hut was perfect, set in its own private space right next to a stream. I loved sleeping with the window open and listening to the peaceful stream bubble past. Lucie was such a friendly and welcoming host, she let us discover the hut alone but I felt if we had of needed anything we could of easily approached her. There was a lovely breakfast basket complete with fresh egg from her chickens. We felt so special with the extra effort she put in leaving us wine and a card as she knew we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. There was lots to do I the area and we only wished we had stayed longer. We explored the lovely seaside town of Newport which had great pubs and a lovely beach. Honestly the best experience I could of hoped for Cwt Gwyrdd was perfect. I want to head back in the autumn and cozy up in front of the log burner with a book.

I completely fell in love with Cwt Gwyrd. Lucie and Tim have created such a peaceful, comfortable relaxing space I didn’t want to leave! We ate fresh eggs and toast for breakfast (treats left for us in a welcome hamper) out on the decking, in the sunshine, enjoying the company of two adorable cats and watching the horses playing just metres away in the next field. The fire burner kept us so toasty all night, and the luxury of having electricity meant I could have a late night cup of tea and even use a hairdryer in the morning. When the sun went down we cosied up in the heavenly comfortable king sized bed, reading books and listening to the babbling stream outside. The whole interior is so pretty and well thought out, from the gorgeous antique wash basin in the bathroom cabin to the retro radio in the shepherd's hut, everything is designed to look beautiful whilst provide home comforts. I can’t wait to go back and take a trip to the coast and try Tim’s fresh lobster!

We had a wonderful stay at Cwt Gwyrdd. It promised so much and delivered more. The setting was beautiful; a tranquil haven for the soul where batteries were recharged while watching the birds and butterflies and enjoying the surroundings. Everything was thought of and our stay was very comfortable. It was hard to pull ourselves away at the end of the stay. Lucie made us very welcome and her hospitality was much appreciated.

A truely magical place. We loved the location, the accomodation and the surrounding area. A perfect combination of outdoors "back to basics" and comfort and tasteful decoration and accessories.

We stayed at Cwt Gwyrdd and are experienced glampers, but this site has been the best we have stayed at. Special thanks to Lucie for creating such a magical and special place.

We had a truly wonderful 2 nights here, A hidden gem in West Wales and full credit to Lucie she really has thought of everything you could ever need for every eventuality, we were blessed with lovely sunshine which was an added bonus. We will be sure to return.

We had a lovely time, it really could not have been better, location, welcome, facilities, all excellent

Cwt Grwydd was the perfect place to stay for my family: perfectly private and peaceful with the sights and sounds of nature all around. The whole family was comfortable and cosy in our respective tents/cabins. It felt magical.

It was lovely and relaxing. The shepherd's hut felt like a little home from home, and it felt very private. Would definitely stay there again.

Amazing, it was full of special touches which really made the surprise all the better. The spot was really quiet and secluded and the Hut was well stocked and the welcome basket was full of far more than we needed. Louise even offered us a lift intoff town which was out of her way and very generous.

Wow! it was amazing! The most perfect honeymoon we could ever have wished for. Comfortable, peaceful, tasteful and extremely romantic!

We had a blissful weekend the Sheppard's hut was wonderful and in such tranquil surroundings with only the occasional visit from range chicken's or resident cats. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud! An ideal getaway.

Amazing little hideaway where we had such a nice relaxing weekend. The cabin is beautifully finished and the location is a tranquil piece of seclusion. Everything we needed to relax and unwind. Would definitely come back!

Incredible 4 days of bliss, sometimes you just have to stop and Cwt Gwyrdd is the place to do it, get back to what really matters!
