Meet the Lewis Family
The Lewis family, John, Jo, Alex, Ollie (and Wispa the dog), welcome you to Alexander House. The house itself was built in 2009 on the ruins of an old farmhouse that they couldn’t save. Working hard to meet their own green ethos and constructed using eco-friendly building materials, they hold a Green Gold from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Alexander House sleeps up to 28 in 11 bedrooms in the main house for holidays and glamorous Orangery weddings, but something was missing. In 2017 they added their first yurt, and the rest is history!
Alexander House is truly a family run business and their housekeepers live just down the road in Auchterarder, if you need anything, whether it be extra firewood or just some advice on where to pop out for a long walk or the best food.
Wildlife & Environment
Situated in the grounds of Alexander House, tucked away in a cosy, sheltered corner, with stunning views over Gleneagles and across to Ben Vorlich in the West with sheep and cattle in the surrounding fields.
There is a huge amount of wildlife on the doorstep, from the red squirrels to the buzzards wheeling above your head. You may also spot deer, hill hare, pine marten, birds of all sorts, masses of house martins in summer that nest in the windows of the main house, skylarks on the back hill, and wagtail babies nesting in the trees and wood piles.

22/03/2019Michael
We had a lovely stay at Heather Yurt for 2 nights - it was so cosy and lots of nice touches made the stay really enjoyable. The wood fired hot tub was amazing and the location was also good - felt away from it all but within a few miles of nice towns.
28/12/2018Flora
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. Everything had been thought of and there were lots of lovely little touches. We enjoyed celebrating our engagement here and wish to come back in the future. They were great hosts!
06/08/2018Megan
If I had to sum it up in one word - Amazing!! It had snowed heavily on the day of our arrival and nothing was too much trouble for Fiona and Jimmy. They had started the wood burner in the yurt going and collected us from the bottom of the long hilly driveway with all our bags and helped us carry everything to the yurt. They advised us not to hesitate contacting them for anything further, including a lift to the shops if we had forgotten anything. The yurt was well equipped with everything you would ever need including a blue tooth speaker! Watching the gorgeous views and stunning sunset in the hot tub with a glass of bubbly (provided) was speechless. Sitting back looking up at the stars in the clear night's sky - priceless. Going for walks or just staying cosy in the yurt was an ideal romantic break away for my partners birthday. I would highly recommend this luxury yurt and can't commend Fiona and Jimmy enough for their hospitality. From Emails before we arrived to being there.

Sitting in a hot tub, a glass of Prosecco to hand, the whole of Perthshire at your feet and all the stars in the firmament overhead... it doesn’t get much better than this.
