Overview
Less than a mile to the sea, The Glade Treehouse is a two-story wonder, swaddled in trees. A simple, uncluttered space – its design is a mid-century Scandi style, where you’ll wake up to a picture-perfect aesthetic, and views all the way over the fields to the Firth of Forth.
This part of the world is filled with adventures, whether it’s the easy 40-minute walk down to Anstruther Beach, or drives to Tentsmuir Forest and beach – where a huge stretch of woodland meets the sand on the coast. You can even head over to Lomond Hills Regional Park for hikes, or hit the Fife Coastal Path for windswept walks.
Refuelling from a day’s exploration might be your favourite part however, with the award-winning Ardross Farm Shop nearby, and a large selection of choices to cook on: a charcoal BBQ, firepit BBQ, pizza oven, air fryer, wood-burner oven and a more conventional gas hob.
Happily satiated from dinner, you’ll likely want to move onto drinks on the deck, and even better, to hop into the bathtub there – and enjoy a tipple in the starshine. You may notice the other few spaces on the site, but your treehouse is spaced and sheltered to give you privacy, and you won’t hear from the owners unless you need something. This is the perfect place to breathe contented sighs and forget the world for a few nights.

Meet Tara
Tara lived in Edinburgh but really wanted to get her four kids out of the city and live a rural life like she had. Tara was in the corporate world and had started a holiday cottage business in Edinburgh, so when she saw Madeira was for sale, she jumped at the chance. Tara built the business up and had a vision to build tree houses in 2020. Covid briefly got in the way, but she finally opened Tree Houses in August of 2024. Tara loves hosting and building spaces where guests can make lasting memories and she’s excited to share the East Neuk, as it’s a truly special place to live and explore.
Wildlife and The Environment
You can frequently see deer, squirrels, birds, and badgers. They don't use chemicals on the land, so nature rules the roost. There are loads of snow drops, blue bells and a wild garden for nature to have its way.
They are organic and wild, they up source everything they can, using fallen branches etc to make walls, and using stone and things they find on the land to build.
They are constantly planting for bees, building for frogs, hedgehogs and pheasants. They are part of the Scottish Gardens scheme, so sometimes show people round by appointment.

The temptation to run the bath after walking up the stairs to the front door was immediate, but I waited to bring my luggage in. The moment that I walked in I felt at ease and wanted to get into comfy clothes with a cup of tea, I wanted to read in the corner nook with the door open listening to the birds, there were too many opportunities to relax and I couldn't pick which one to start with! I'd love to come back for a longer stay.
