Overview
One of six gorgeous safari tents at the incredible Secret Meadows Nature Reserve (alongside a converted horsebox, a Gypsy caravan with shepherd’s hut and a two storey safari tent), Traveller’s Joy is overlooking a broad meadow on a site so precious to the local wildlife that the Sinfield Nature Conservation Trust has set up this wonderful camping experience to help maintain it. These safari tents are no spartan experience, with a fully equipped kitchen, dining and sitting area, a spacious bedroom complete with four poster bed, a quirky cupboard bed and a bunkroom.
It's too easy to imagine a holiday spent here, especially given how much there is on site. You could meet the animals, build dens, explore the labyrinth or take on nature trails – even take part in a bow and arrow making workshop! Or you could try a luxury, locally sourced food hamper or be tempted by the onsite pantry shop, which is stocked full of the best local food products by the farm shop. If you’re looking for a slower pace of life, then just kick back, take on a yoga class or two or even lie back and take it easy, with a massage or beauty treatment.
When you’re not running wild, enjoy the slower pace of life, read a book by the toasty wood-burning range, breakfast out on the porch, or just amble about the site as the wildlife flits to and from.

Meet your hosts
By choosing to stay at this special wildlife site you are supporting a registered charity, The Sinfield Nature Conservation Trust, and helping it to continue caring for wildlife and the natural environment.
The Sinfield Nature Conservation Trust has owned 115 acre White House Farm since 2005 and is working to restore the buildings, maintain the farm as organic land and protect the wildlife and flora. At night, you can enjoy the delights of a camp fire, admire the beautiful displays of stars on clear evenings and by day experience a slow pace of life in inspiring surroundings, following nature trails around the farm and exploring different habitats as you walk.
White House Farm is a County Wildlife Site. As this land has not had chemical sprays or artificial fertilisers used on it in the past and is now registered as organic land it is species rich so you can see an abundance of wildflowers including orchids in June, butterflies and deer as well as a wide variety of birds and insects. In season you will be able to hear nightingales sing or owls flying and calling through the woods. This farm is a haven for wildlife, supporting over 50 bird species including nightingales, finches, snipe, lesser and greater spotted woodpeckers, kingfishers, barn, tawny and little owls. The farm supports large numbers of dragonflies and butterflies and protects Biodiversity Action Plan species such as the bullfinch and great crested newts.

Ricardo
Lovely, these tents are set back into the wood and so private and cosy. Smaller than others we have stayed in but a great location

Very warm welcome on arrival, everything explained clearly and shown around the luxury tent which was absolutely fabulous! Loved every minute of our holiday, would love to go back soon.
04/09/2015Louise
"We had an amazing holiday at this wonderful location. The tents are hardly that at all - luxury and convenience all rolled into one. The beautiful meadows, views, and wildlife all made this a memorable stay. Our daughter didn't want to leave, and nor did we! Just a brilliant concept, really we'll done, friendly and helpful staff - I can't praise this place highly enough. We are looking at when we can go back - it's a certainty that we will visit again."
02/06/2014Rob
"Yes! It was wonderful. Such a beautiful place and the lodges were wonderful. Really cosy and beautifully kitted out. We especially loved the opportunity to have our own chickens for the weekend. The equipment in the lodge was very-well thought out for the needs of 'glampers,' and it was all of a very high quality. The beds were ridiculously comfortable and to be honest, we didn't want to come home."
23/10/2013Ruth
"Had a fantastic time in such a unique and calming setting. Beautiful place, and lovely and helpful owners. The best thing for me was the serenity of the site. The absolute quiet when waking up in the morning punctuated by the call of a rooster or the cluck of a hen.Very calm and relaxing. The worst thing was the length of the stay. Far too short!"
17/10/2013Jamie
"We really enjoyed our stay - the site is primarily a nature reserve and wildlife haven and everything is centred around that ethos which appealed. We had a lovely walk through the reserve along well signposted trails through woodland and meadows - it must be an absolute picture in Spring. The Safari style tent had everything you could possibly need for a luxurious stay, even a "proper" shower and flushing loo!"
13/09/2013Gillian
"Yes - we enjoyed the visit hugely. The site was beautiful, people friendly and we loved having our own chickens!"
05/07/2013Sarah
"SO MUCH. They are genius. I can't believe there weren't a hundred things we wanted to suggest or change. It was truly perfect. Everything was lit by candles. The decor of the tent was so perfect. The location and the whole space was perfect."
