Overview
It’s green on all sides from Cowslip, a beautifully styled shepherd’s hut between a copse and a meadow on a 750-acre conservation site close to Norfolk’s glorious Brecks. There’s a spring-fed lake for paddleboarding and bracing dips, a wood-fired hot tub and footpaths all around, but with a bed this big and comfortable you might find it hard to drag yourself out. Open the shutters and the soft light of crisp country mornings fills the space – all muted greens and hedgerow blooms, a wood pellet burner that kicks out heat on colder days and a plush hotel-worthy shower room. The hut’s bigger than most – there’s even space for a cushy sofa, angled to capture the view out of the French windows. Thoughtful additions include essential cooking ingredients, a stash of books and games plus eco-friendly cleaning products and toiletries.
It’s remote, but there’s a space for your car just a few steps away and a (clean) wheelbarrow for hauling your kit to the hut. Embrace the campfire with dinner cooked on the firepit or light the pizza oven – found just outside your ‘Sundowner cabin’ just next door. Instead, stay put and watch the wildlife through the provided binoculars, count the stars from the hot tub and enjoy the silence.

I booked to stay at Cowslip Hut for my boyfriend’s birthday, and safe to say it did not disappoint! We stayed for 2 night but wished we booked for me! The hut itself was modern and came with everything you could need! We was very lucky with the weather that we went for a nice long walk to the local pub and had some lunch in the beer garden! The location of the hut was perfect, so peaceful and tranquil, really felt like we could switch off and relax! We enjoyed the use of the hot tub and the pizza oven too! We would have stayed outside for longer but due to the time of year it was getting dark and colder! Would be perfect during summer!

Me and my partner had the most relaxing stay at the Cowslip Hut. We absolutely loved being surrounded by such beautiful countryside and wild life. It was perfect for recharging the batteries and escaping busy day to day life.
21/10/2024Lily
Cowslip hut is set in a peaceful location with amazing views, the orchid hut is far enough away that it does not invade your privacy. The hut is fully equipped with everything you need and the sundowner is an added treasure for cooking and just sitting and chilling.

Absolutely stunning place! We had amazing stay at Cowslip hut - thoroughly enjoy the hot tub, pizza oven and the paddle boat. The walks around the area was really nice & the sunrise view with the mist across the field and lake was breathtaking! 10 out of 10 definitely! There’s no doubt at all that we will be back :)

The most magical weekend thank you so much Rebecca! Everything was beautiful and the highest quality including the delicious pizza and BBQ hampers! So spacious and the hot tub was an absolute delight! Watching the stars and hearing the wildlife was just one in a million sat in the hot tub!
15/10/2021Sophie
We had the most wonderful 3 days Glamping in the Cowslip Hut at Wild with Nature in Shropham. Fantastic facilities (the hot tub was amazing, the hampers perfect!) and waking up to the dawn chorus amidst a wildflower meadow every day was really special. On our first evening we were even treated to a barn own flypast. Words can't describe how beautiful the setting is with a lake for wild swimming, footpaths and lanes for walking and cycling and space just to relax and chill. Lots of happy memories made. It is a great location to explore South Norfolk (particularly the quiet lanes a bike ride away) and Thetford, where there is mountain biking, trail running etc. We went a bit further afield to Blakeney and Norwich which was also perfectly do-able for the day.
13/07/2021Florence
One of the best places I have ever stayed
11/06/2021Christina

2 night staff in cowslip hut in Norfolk, was so peaceful, we spent time in the wood fired hot tub. Rowing in the lake, on lovely walks, cooking on the bbq, and dinner at the local pub.
18/05/2021Honor
Very relaxing in this beautiful spot. Accomodation was absolutely top notch and arrangements for arrival were good. We were given an extremely warm welcome by the owner Andrew. The farm and countryside were lovely and there were good walks to enjoy.

Beautiful location and accommodation
13/04/2021Rebecca
We had a lovely time. The location was just what we were looking for: quite remote and tranquil.
09/10/2020Sue
What an amazing place!!! Complete escapism at its best. Everything you could ever want with all the extra treats added on (panoramic views, the hot tub, the wood burners, the comfy bed, the wildlife). The communication both prior and during our stay (when required - more logs) was fantastic. We cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful place and set up. Thank you!!!
05/10/2020Paul
After two cancelled holidays this year we were in need of a break away. It was our 30th anniversary in April and we had not been able to celebrate because of lockdown. We drove into the clearing and parked up and unpacked our stuff. The key was already in the lock. Cowslip Hut is even better in real life. Gorgeous little kitchen with toaster and kettle. Wonderful diddy log burner and hotel worthy ensuite. You literally step up to the bed which has lovely crisp white bed linen (that sealed the deal for me!). The Sundowner is where you do your main cooking and eating. Which means you keep Cowslip food odour free. The fire pit is close by and the pizza oven is on deck. I recommend getting a pizza hamper to make your own pizzas. Rebecca was incredibly accommodating and dropped off our pizza dough early evening Saturday. It was too cold to go swimming in the lake but we went for a fabulous walk. We took some beautiful photos of the sunset and wildlife. If you are looking to recharge, reset and reconnect this is the place. Back to basics but still with a touch of luxury.
30/09/2020Julie
Cowslip Hut is in such an idyllic and extremely peaceful location. We had 2 days of relaxation and beautiful walks away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The accommodation itself was fantastic. I know photos can sometimes look better than when you arrive but at Cowslip, the hut has been so tastefully done it really is as good as the photos. The hot tub (and a glass of bubbly) at sunset was just an added bonus. We will definitely visit again.
22/03/2020Julie
We had such a lovely stay where we felt very calm and relaxed during an uncertain time for the country.
18/03/2020Laura
Wonderful winter getaway - superb accommodation, helpful and friendly hosts, very secluded and relaxing
28/02/2020Chris
The lakeside setting is spectacular and provides the ideal backdrop for a restorative break deep in nature. We relaxed in the hot tub after a swim in the lake and were treated to the company of a barn owl flying close by. With plenty of luxurious touches and wonderful views, you will not want to leave!

We had the most wonderful stay at Cowslip Hut! The cabin and sundowner were perfect for relaxing in nature and escaping our screens and the stress of everyday life. Our highlight was sitting in the hot tub as the sun went down as barn owls flew overhead. Truly magical.

2 night staff in cowslip hut in Norfolk, was so peaceful, we spent time in the wood fired hot tub. Rowing in the lake, on lovely walks, cooking on the bbq, and dinner at the local pub.

Very relaxing in this beautiful spot. Accomodation was absolutely top notch and arrangements for arrival were good. We were given an extremely warm welcome by the owner Andrew. The farm and countryside were lovely and there were good walks to enjoy.

The lakeside setting is spectacular and provides the ideal backdrop for a restorative break deep in nature. We relaxed in the hot tub after a swim in the lake and were treated to the company of a barn owl flying close by. With plenty of luxurious touches and wonderful views, you will not want to leave!
