Overview
You find Millie, glowing with the warmth of a wood burner and golden lantern light, down a leafy lane, where steam trains once ran, and over an old Victorian bridge. Her private meadow is bordered by the Hindwell Brook, that adds its soothing ripple to the background music of the birds and bees. You can take a dip in the water or just cool your toes if summer has left the level low, on the banks you’ll find a parasol and pair of deck chairs to relax in, and a firepit where you can cook up meals on the tripod. If you’re not confident in your wild cookery skills, then there’s a BBQ and more traditional facilities in Millie’s kitchen, with Millie’s Shack, the wood and tin structure next door, lit for romantic dining on whatever you’ve rustled up. Then you can retire to the riverside fire pit for toasted marshmallows and an after dinner drink, while the stars burst out in some of Britain’s clearest skies.
The stars aren’t the only thing worth watching for while you’re staying with Millie. There’s a host of wildlife in the woods around you, even if you don’t count the flock of Welsh Mule sheep in the field. Keep an eye and an ear out for kites, buzzards and owls while you’re out in the meadow or on long walks down the old railway path or along the Offa’s Dyke trail, which you can join in nearby Kington. If you’re looking for a gentle stroll then head into Presteigne, about 15-20 minutes away on foot, where you’ll find some great places to eat and drink as well as a cinema club and regular live music. The temptation though, and one we really think you should give in to, is just to lie back in the field and let Millie, the meadow and the sound of the river bliss you out for a few days.

Activities
At Wegnalls Mill
Wild swimming in the Hindwell which borders Millie's field (general wild swimming rules must be observed and all swimming is at guests’ own risk).
Places to visit
Presteigne’s award-winning gas-lit Judge’s Lodgings is a large, atmospheric, elegant upstairs-downstairs house, complete with courtroom and cells, and will show you what life was like locally 150 years ago (open July-Oct).
The world-famous book town of Hay-on-Wye, with its artisan shops and places to eat and drink is worth a visit anytime of year, whether or not you’re a bibliophile.
Ludlow, famous for its food, is a gem of Georgian architecture with a romantic ruined castle. The town stages almost daily markets, hosts several festivals a year and has some good vintage and antique shopping.
Leominster (‘lemster’) is chock-a-block with good value vintage and antique shops. Closeby are two fine National Trust properties, Berrington Hall and Croft Castle.
Outdoor & active
The Marches (the Welsh Borders) is a wonderful place for walking and the old railway line footpath leading directly from Millie’s Field, makes it easy to stride straight out without the need for a car.
Offa’s Dyke, a long-distance waymarked footpath which traditionally marks the border between England and Wales, runs close by Presteigne and is easily accessed via the neighbouring small towns of Knighton, where you’ll find the Offa’s Dyke Information Centre, and Kington where several long-distance paths converge to make this a regional walking hub with a major walking festival in September.
A favourite easy (if quite steep) walk ascends Hergest Ridge in Kington, made famous by musician Mike Oldfield, offering wonderful 360-degree views of neighbouring counties.
The River Wye is a wonderful place to either learn to canoe or to hone your paddling skills. The nearest centres are at Hay-on-Wye.
With so little light pollution, stargazing from your hut (clear weather permitting) may well be a highlight of your visit. If you want to learn more, on the edge of Presteigne is the Spaceguard Centre, an observatory that monitors asteroids and comets near the earth, and is open to the public.
The Radnor Ring Cycle Route. This 84-mile circular cycle route follows country lanes, river valleys, traffic-free trails and mountain roads around the old county of Radnorshire, offering spectacular views of some of the most awe-inspiring scenery in mid-Wales. The route is dotted with pubs that provide perfect places to stop for lunch and as an introduction to cycle touring in Wales, is hard to beat. Only very experienced cyclists should tackle it all in one go as there are some very tough sections, but as the route passes a number of railway stations on the scenic Heart of Wales railway line, even cycle softies can take their bikes on the train, hop off, then cycle to the next station, hop back on, travel to the next station, hop off (repeat until tired …) and have a lovely day!

Wildlife & the environment
The Marches are full of wildlife and the owners' fields are no exception with owls, woodpeckers, red kites, buzzards, pheasants, swifts and foxes all present. Depending on the time of year you’ll hear majestic red kites and buzzards 'mewing' high overhead, the staccato tones of a male pheasant staking out his patch (cock fights are common!), the eerie towhit-towhoo of tawny owls, and (if you’re lucky) the chattering of baby owls in the sycamore used as a nursery for the past two years on the edge of Millie’s field. Early morning brings out the rabbits, while the eagle-eyed may see brown trout leaping out the Hindwell in summer.

We booked our stay at Millie the Hut looking for two things: romance and seclusion and found both in spades. Paul and Glenys welcomed us upon our arrival, helping us ferry our stuff down a track to the private field the hut resides in. It really is a stunning location, the river wending a mere 10ft from the hut. They showed us around and although of course it's a hut, we never felt cramped or short on space. A large comfortable double bed makes for cosy nights, ample kitchen space if you want to cook indoors, and a separate toilet and shower - it's amazing it has all been squeezed in! We felt extremely welcomed, especially with the addition of a generous welcome pack, fresh butter and eggs in the kitchen. The outdoor cooking area is wonderful at night, with an ample supply of wood for the fire pit, we sat out for hours. We were never cold in the hut at night as the small wood burning stove floods it with warmth. Providing maps, and recommendations for food and walks (Daphne's is a must) we both had just a wonderful time and couldn't fault anything about the experience. The area is beautiful and Paul & Glenys warm hosts, we'll be back, can't recommend them highly enough!

Absolutely brilliant. We stayed in August 24 and found the hut to be beautiful and the outdoor area extremely charming. We had everything we needed and more. It’s a beautiful location just down by the little brook and the perfect distance to work into Presteigne. We really liked the outdoor cooking shelter full of quirk and interest. Loved the decor and style. The hosts were simply lovely and directed us to lots of good ideas for places to eat etc. we can recommend canoeing with wye valley canoes - that was brill. We also enjoyed cycling and walking. We didn’t want to leave.

We had a fantastic stay at Millie the Hut. The location was beautiful and the hut was very cosy. The hosts were incredibly friendly and very helpful, going above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay - possibly the nicest hosts we've ever had! The hut itself was lovely, stocked with everything we could need and the wonderful welcome package was a very thoughtful bonus.

Great stay - loved the outdoor space and the opportunity to cook open air. The stream was lovely to briefly swim in and town an easy walk. Cozy but with easily enough room for two and everything we needed - the welcome pack was awesome. Thanks!

Would we stay here again? Most Definitely! Millie the hut has so much character and charm, tastefully decorated and in the most idyllic setting in it's own private field right next to the brook. The hosts Paul and Glenys were very accommodating and respected our privacy but were also on hand should we needed anything. We stretched our legs with an easy walk into Presteigne for a coffee and a bite to eat but to be honest we couldn't wait to get back to the site and soak up more of it's relaxing natural ambience. The outdoor shack is a wonderful addition and was a magical place to sit in the evening with the solar and tea lights on, watching the flames from the fire bowl. We really did enjoy a lovely 'special' few days here made even better with glorious weather.

It was a beautiful day when I arrived at “ Millie the Hut” You know when you see pictures of a place and think it’s magical… Well it’s magical in real life too.It took a moment to realise I wasn’t dreaming to be honest. Paul and Glenys had organised everything from a wonderful welcome basket of essentials , to logs and tea lights and well basically everything you need for a break in this beautiful place. I paddled in the river which was glorious, and at nighttime well….with the beautiful lighting in the separate dining area and the night sky which was full of stars you really were in heaven. Thankyou Paul and Glenys for a dream come true.
29/07/2024Nicola
It was perfect from the start - meeting the hosts, enjoying the peace and tranquility, lighting the firepit to eat at of an evening, radio playing and fully relaxing to visiting the nearby village, sampling the ciders at the local pubs, and taking walks around the Radnor Forest seeing a waterfall.
22/07/2024Tracey
It was a much needed break as I work 7 days a week so was looking forward to relaxing
21/06/2024Beverley
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Millie The Hut. The hut itself was very well equipped and furnished - Paul and Glenys had thought of everything! The outdoor dining space was a great addition. Paul and Glenys were also very generous both with their time and with recommendations for things to do in the local area. It was good to know they were there if we needed anything - but also far enough away (and behind a line of trees) that Millie and the surrounding space felt nice and private.

We had a short stay in the middle of the week. The weather was very cold for the time of the year. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and felt that we were not there no enough to enjoy all the benefits of going slightly off grid for a few days

Had an amazing stay at Millie the hut in the beautiful countryside for 3 days for our honeymoon lovely quite location great places to visit near by and nice places to eat.
12/04/2024Tina
Prior to our arrival Paul and Glenys were extremely helpful, suggesting florists (Valentines Day), places to eat and local hostelries. Millie was superb, extremely well fitted and more than generous welcome pack. A pleasure start to finish.

Our stay at Millie’s Hut was perfect! A truly beautiful, quaint getaway from the hustle and bustle. My partner and I visited the hut for 2 nights in a chilly October so we used the log fire to our advantage which made the whole hut toasty. I made myself a tea, sat on the bed and didn’t move for the rest of the evening because I was too relaxed. There are some great walks for the daytime that were recommended to us, such as Hergest Ridge, which has Offa’s Dyke running through it; the views here are really something. Paul and Glenys were such welcoming hosts and we truly appreciated the effort they had put into making the hut what it is.
16/10/2023Harri
Paul and Glenys gave such a wonderful welcome when we arrived. The small touches were wonderful, especially the birthday banner they put up for my other half. It was such a relaxing experience sitting round the fire pit, watching the sheep across the fence with the river in the background. Cooking over the fire pit was great fun! The local highstreet is great for essentials, but we especially recommend a trip to Ludlow, make sure to stop at the cheese shop and butchers in the town. Thank you for having us!
25/09/2023Lillie
It was a lovely and relaxing break in a very peaceful spot. Hosts were extremely thoughtful and attentive.
20/09/2023Chris
Had an absolutely magical stay at Millie’s. Paul and Glenys are very accommodating and we had everything we needed.. and more! We were greeted with a personalized message and hamper in the hut, the fire was very easy to use, the shower was good and hot! The hut was very clean and secure. We even had a paddle in the brook behind the hut which felt safe, and was very clean. Nearby we visited ludlow, hay on wye and shrewsbury. An excellent place to eat was the cider mill 20 minutes away. And Paul kept in touch through the break with updates and suggestions which was really kind, very helpful. I really hope we get to come back again, even the rain made the stay all the more cosy..
18/09/2023Sumaya
It was wonderful. As good if not better than we were expecting. Suited us perfectly.
28/08/2023Fi
Stunning little hut, perfect down to the simplest of things, definitely returning!
21/08/2023Millie
We had a wonderful four days at Millie the Hut. Paul and Glenys were so friendly and gave us a lovely welcome (and a yummy welcome hamper) Millie is in a great spot by a river with lots of red kites and buzzards flying overhead. It’s private and peaceful and yet within easy walking distance of Presteigne. I highly recommend a visit to The Judges Lodgings museum in the town. We slept really well at Millie the Hut. The bed is very comfy and it was nice to listen to the sound of the river at night.
03/07/2023Ruth
A beautiful cosy place to be at, loved and enjoyed every bit of our stay. A place where one can relax, rewind and revive at the place with river flowing around.
05/06/2023Mamata
We had a lovely time here! It's the perfect place for some isolation and a break from city life. The stream next to the hut really gives something special that other places lack, and it was perfect in May when the weather was hot, but the stream was not shallow yet. Presteigne was very close by, with enough to see to make a nice afternoon out of it. Even so, there is so much to do at the hut that you do not need to go anywhere far. From the stream, to the fire pit, to the wide selection of board games. Best of all, Paul and Glenys were friendly hosts with a great attention to detail and lots of consideration. Paul gave us a lift to the train station since we did not have a car, and even provided us with 2 free tickets to some shows at the Hay festival. That sort of generosity is rare and it made us feel so welcome at Millie the Hut. We would definitely come stay again!
22/05/2023Theo
Millie the Hut proved to be a wonderful and relaxing break. The hut is very comfortable and well designed for two guests. With the wood burning stove on at night it is incredibly cosy. Paul and Glenys are considerate hosts and left a well stocked hamper based on our dietary requirements. The covered 'shed' area allowed us to have barbecues even when raining and there is also a fire pit by the river. We particularly enjoyed discovering walks in the area recommended by the hosts, and there is a wide choice for all abilities. The hut is very close to the river with a couple of places for wild swimming.
21/04/2023Tim
Amazing!!! The only cons: we wish we could stay longer!!!!! Paul and Glenys are lovely hosts! They are very friendly and helpful, and very informative. We have not been around the area before, but they gave us fantastic recommendations for places to visit. The hut itself is very wonderful, they did it very well. The bbq firepit is so fun, especially for roasting marshmallows that Paul and Glenys gave us in the welcome basket! Paul and Glenys are so thoughtful too! They even gave me non-dairy butter and milk and biscuits during our stay because I'm lactose intolerant. The site is amazing, you can sit outside with a fire and look up to have 360 views of the stars. The bed is very comfy, my husband is quite tall, he has no problem at all. Even if you are living in the middle of nowhere, you still have the luxury of a modern toilet and kitchen in the hut! Can't wait to come and stay again in the summer and try on dipping myself in the little stream behind the hut! At the end of our stay, my husband left something in the hut, and Paul and Glenys gladly sent the item to us! Thank you for the wonderful experience!!!
26/02/2023Nadia
Lovely place to spend a weekend away from it all. Paul and Glenys were welcoming and friendly, showing us around the hut and how everything works, and all about the local area. We spend a very relaxing weekend spent in and around the shepherds hut for my husbands birthday treat. The hut had everything we needed for a cosy winter weekend, and the log burner inside was brilliant at keeping us warm in the evenings. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and had loads of extras for us to eat and use. Tried wild swimming in the stream that runs past the hut that has a deeper natural pool, but the water was a bit too cold for me. I can imagine it would be lovely to swim in in the summer. The outside area was great to spend the evening, wrapped up in the blankets provided with the fire pit burning next to us, enjoying a drink and looking at the stars.
24/02/2023Michelle
From the moment we arrived we knew our stay would be peaceful and relaxing. The owners were very welcoming and showed us around and how to use things. There is so much attention to detail and everything you need to feel home from home. The log burner provides enough heat for a cozy night inside where you can enjoy numerous games that have been left. Outside we sat and enjoyed the fire pit and a glass of wine whilst sitting in the candle lit area just listening to nature at its best. A great location and just what we needed.
15/02/2023Kim
We were met on arrival by Paul and Glenys who were extremely welcoming hosts. They showed us to the cabin; explaining how to use the wood burning stove etc.. Millie’s hut had everything we could possibly have wished for, including a thoughtful, personalised welcome hamper. The location was idyllic; we had the whole field to ourselves and weee right next to a relaxing, babbling stream. Even though it was very cold at night, (-3), it was still possible to sit outside and enjoy the stars thanks to the outdoor fire pit. The cabin stayed toasty-warm with the wood burning stove. Millie’s Hut had all the facilities you could need to enjoy a break away: fully-equipped kitchen, tea and coffee provided, comfy bed, toilet and hot shower (with toiletries) alongside an outdoor cooking shelter. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone wishing to get away from the busy hustle and bustle of everyday life! Thank you Paul and Glenys for your hospitality.

Our stay at Millie's Hut was wonderfully relaxing. Paul and Glenys were very welcoming hosts. They showed us around the property, gave us useful tips of local towns/restaurants/sights to see and when would be best to see them. They also very kindly gave us some milk, eggs, butter, bread, cider and welsh cakes - all of which were very much appreciated! Millie's Hut is beautiful. We used the barbecue on the first night and ate under the stars whilst being warmed by the fire and listening to the stream. The log burner kept things cosy inside and everything you could want was in the hut. It has all been thought through (I have a sneaky suspicion Paul and Glenys must stay on occasion because it's all so well thought through). Cannot recommend it enough to anyone who wants a few days of quiet time away from emails and the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. Thanks Paul and Glenys, we have been telling of our friends and family to stay! Tom and Matthew

The perfect, peaceful retreat in a beautiful spot. Everything you need provided and more for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the shack outside and cooking on the fire pit. Highly recommend for a relaxing escape. Paul and Glenys couldn’t have done more to welcome us and make us feel at home.

We had a fabulous stay at Millie, she’s equipped with everything you need and Paul and Glenys were really lovely and helpful showing us around her when we arrived. It’s a lovely quiet area the stream bubbling behind her and sheep in the field were the only sounds we heard. The woodburner kept us toasty warm inside along with the feather pillows and duvet for bed. Nice touch with the fresh eggs, bread, tea, butter, milk etc and even marshmallows for the fire Next time will be a longer stay for sure.

Totally relaxing stay. Hosts were lovely, and everything was catered for and more. So good, we would return.

We had the most relaxing couple of nights at Millie the Hut - just what we needed. Paul and Glenys have given so much thought and attention to detail to their beautiful shepherds hut. We were extremely comfortable and cosy. We chose to visit in the middle of a heatwave but the temperature dropped such that sleeping was very comfortable in the hut. The ‘welcome’ food basket and items in the fridge were a lovely touch. The surroundings were so peaceful with the gentle sound of running water from the brook. Presteigne is a lovely little town an easy walk away with a great Deli, fruit and veg shop plus a hidden gem of a coffee shop - The Workhouse Gallery. We would highly recommend and would return.

We stayed for four nights at Millie the Hut and enjoyed every moment.Although pretty familiar with nearby counties we hadn't explored Herefordshire and the location of Millie was excellent for striking out to see many of the lovely places nearby. Hereford and its majestic cathedral and the famous town of Hay on Wye are easy to access. Some of the best moments were had just accidentally happening upon beautiful little sleepy villages. The memories that will stay with us most are of the evenings spent at the hut in front of the fire pit with a glass of wine watching as the sun set and the sky began to fill with stars. The hut is incredibly cosy, the bed very comfortable and the attention to detail from our hosts Paul and Glenys was wonderful. They really wanted to ensure we had a great stay and though never intrusive, they were always responsive any questions we had and were a mine of information about the area.

It was a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the hut and the surrounding area. The hut is secluded and we had total privacy even though the host, Paul is only next door and always at hand for any questions. We enjoyed the outdoor facilities especially the river stream and bbq and covered outdoor seating area. Overall it exceeded our expectations and made a good romantic getaway for couples.

I chose millie the hut because the photos looked beautiful, and the name...my dog is also called millie so it was meant to be. I wanted to get away from everything and this place gave me everything and more. I went on my own, so it was actually a big deal to me, somewhere I would feel safe, but far enough away from other people (excluding the owners- they were both wonderful) The river was a huge draw for me, the noise of running water, deckchair on the beach and paddling. The outside eating area was incredible, the fire and cooking jacket potatoes in the fire, the lights the candles, the Marsh mallows were a lovely treat from the owners along with the other wonderful things they left for me.

A wonderful getaway. Millie the hut is a very comfortable and charming shepherds hut. The covered separate dining area is a huge bonus. The brook running alongside provided a cool shaded area perfect for paddling or a deeper dip! We enjoyed the surrounding beautiful countryside snd a walk into Presteigne for provisions. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful but not intrusive. A complimentary hamper of thoughtful treats set the holiday mood. This holiday was a retirement gift voucher, lucky me!

Absolutely loved this little hideaway. Just what us city girls needed for a quiet little relaxing escape. Shepherds hut was furnished beautifully & had everything you need. Outdoor space was super cute and cosy for relaxing in the evening by the fire pit.

Wow! What a stunning place in gorgeous surroundings. The cabin is top spec and super comfy. All the little touches that have been added add to the cabins charm. I loved the wild swimming too! Ours hosts Paul & Glenys were so welcoming and our hamper was a beautiful touch! Highly recommend, 2 very happy people that had the perfect anniversary break!

We booked Millie the hut for a mini moon after getting married a couple of weeks ago.We arrived Friday afternoon and the owners Paul & Glenys came out to welcome us. They kindly showed us around and answered all our questions. We had a beautiful welcome basket and Glenys even baked us a lovely cake. They gave us lots of good recommendations for things to do and places to eat if we wanted to go out. We went to a local restaurant (Daphnes) which was amazing and walking distance from the hut. We spent the rest of the weekend visiting Hereford and a few more local markets and quirky shops. We cooked on the fire pit on two evenings and it was great. Everything we needed was there and plenty of utensils etc in the kitchen. The whole set up is lovely and just what we needed after a very busy few months leading up to the wedding. Thank you for a brilliant stay.

Our honeymoon at Millie the Hut was a truely magical experience. We had the warmest welcome from Paul and Glenys who were the perfect hosts throughout our stay. We were blown away by the attention to detail and the personal touches, such as a welcome basket with champagne, freshly baked bread, the most delicious honeymoon cake which Glenys had baked and much more. There wasn’t anything they hadn’t thought of. We spent most of our time in the outdoor seating area which was fully equipped with everything you could need for outdoor cooking and enjoying the romantic ambiance this perfect little area creates. Inside the hut was spotless and again, Paul and Glenys had thought of everything. It was lovely and warm in there with the log burner and the bed was so comfortable. The perfect little escape. We will definitely be visiting Millie the Hut again and will be recommending to friends and family. It was fabulous.

We had a wonderful stay at Millie the Hut with our own private space - really enjoyed cooking outdoors and having a little swim in the private “beach” stream of water. Hosts were v helpful and made the experience great!

We had a wonderful stay in Millie The Hut. The attention to detail was fantastic. Every time we came back to the Hut it seemed that we noticed something else in the decor that we hadn’t noticed before. The Hut is well stocked with all cooking equipment you need and the kitchen has been fitted to a high standard. We were a little worried in the run up to our trip as we had experienced some snow and the temperature had dropped however, we needn’t have worried as Millie was toasty for our a stay. The log burner makes the space so cozy and lovely. The bed was big enough for both me and my 6ft 5 partner and it was so comfy. The village of Presteigne is very pretty and we found it to be friendly. The Hut is situated perfectly and we took day trips to Hay on Wye, Ludlow, Prembridge Our hosts were very knowledgeable about the area and were friendly and approachable.

We had a great couple of days at Millie the Hut despite freezing temperatures and snow at the beginning of April. The shepherds hut was very cosy with a log burner and plenty of firewood. The area around Presteigne was stunning and the town itself had plenty of restaurants, cafes, independent shops and also an amazing museum - the Judges Lodging. We took a short trip to Hay on Wye as well - a must for book lovers.
30/03/2022Anne
We had a lovely time in Millie the Hut. Paul and Glenys were so friendly and generous. It was clear that a lot of care had gone into the setup of the hut and that they enjoy hosting. They had thought of everything. The hut was so well equipped - eggs, oil, coffee, tea, the list went on! And a surprise hamper with extra goodies. We really enjoyed cooking our dinner on the bbq one night and on the fire pit the next night. We enjoyed the local town of Ludlow and enjoyed spending time round the fire and reading books in the hut. A lovely restful place to stay. Oh and the sheep were very welcoming neighbours too!
28/03/2022Hannah
We had an absolutely incredible stay. From getting to know the sheep, to some bracing swimming in the stream and plenty of wonderful outdoor cooking, our two nights at Millie the Hut were nothing short of idyllic. Paul and Glenys couldn't do enough to make the stay comfortable and special. They're lovely characters and we never had want for anything.
21/03/2022Joe
Wonderful stay at Millie the Hut! The warmest of welcomes on arrival from Paul and Glenys with the fire lit and a lovely welcome hamper. The hut has everything you could need with a really comfy bed aswell. The outside shack was perfect to relax in for the evenings, whatever the weather. With a fire pit, bbq, blankets and lots of tea lights and lanterns for when its gets dark. Lovely area with lots of recommend walks nearby, although we loved it so much we didn't venture very far! And a (very quick) dip in the Brook to top the stay off. Would highly recommend and would love to return.

Millie The Hut is a one of a kind getaway location. From the sweeping landscapes to the gentle streams. There is no shortage of breathtaking scenery surrounding this qwerky accommodation. No stone is left unturned at Wegnalls Mill. Guests are well accommodated; the hosts ensure all creature comforts are available on arrival. From homemade bread to freshly ground coffee, you can ensure they've got it covered. If you're looking for a short getaway Millie's Hut will not disappoint.

Wonderful stay, Beautiful paddock. Wonderful hosts who were very helpful. The shepherds hut had been designed with such thought and care with lovely little old Railway touches.

WOW. Is all we can say from start to finish we were made to feel so welcome. Millie is wonderful so well equipped, cosy and peaceful. When we arrived the fire was lit and the welcome pack was a delight. So well rested and relaxed. Wild swimming in the naturally formed pond was a huge bonus. As well as wonderful owners. We will be back, highly recommend the harp inn at old Radnor wonderful food. And Presteigne is lovely for a wonder. Water break its neck falls also a wonderfully enchanting walk. Millie also has the comfiest bed we have ever slept in. Thank you for letting us share your little slice of heaven. Sarah and Becky

We arrived at Millie the hut with a very warm welcoming from Paul and Glenys, they had already started the fire so when we got there it was lovely and warm. They had also left a welcoming basket with fresh bread, cupcakes, biscuits as well as cider and more! It was so peaceful staying at the hut being surrounded by nature, with beautiful walks on your doorstep. We took Paul’s and Glenys recommendation on one of the walks which was only a 5 minute walk up the road, which had stunning views! And then took a walk into town for lunch. Our favourite part about the hut was the outside sitting area where when it got dark you could light all the candles and lanterns and cook over the fire, which we did both nights! We would definitely stay again and have shared it with all our friends and family as we know they’ll enjoy it just as much as we did!

We really enjoyed our visit to Millie the hut - location was perfect as we are avid walkers All of the facilities provided were spotless and so clean Especially all of the added extras such as bathroom products, milk, eggs, bread, teas and coffees! The hut was lovely and warm - there is a fire and fan heater if needed but it was quite toasty without it. The outside area is brilliant for the evenings- a fire pit to make the evening more magical and access to a BBQ if you need it. Paul and Glenys were perfect hosts, very knowledgeable of the local area and level of attentiveness was spot on! Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone

We had a fantastic time staying in Millie the Hut. Paul and Glenys have thought of everything and the hut is both super comfortable and practical with everything you could want or need! Eggs and home baked bread with coffee for breakfast in front of the wood burner and at night we sat around the fire pit and looked at the stars in an incredibly clear sky. It's an easy walk into Presteigne where you can get great pizza and fish and chips or go for a stroll around the woods. Or just a short drive away are more lovely towns and walks with Paul and Glenys full of information and suggestions. Our weekend away was absolutely perfect and I couldn't recommend a stay in Millie the Hut highly enough. We'll definitely be back again!

We discovered this place when we looked for somewhere to stay for a few days on a last minute booking. It turned out to be one of the best places we’ve ever stayed at. The owners, Paul & Glenys are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet. They greeted us on arrival and showed us around and made sure we had everything we needed. They even had some eggs, muffins, fresh orange and Prosecco for us in the fridge, as it turned out we were the first couple to stay there since it’s only just been put on Canopy under Stars website. The shepherd hut is luxury, it’s very warm and cosy with a great little wood burner in the corner and a super comfy bed! There’s also en-suite shower & toilet, as well as an outdoor sheltered space adjacent for a barbecue, with extra blankets stored in the cupboards for when it gets cold. It’s set in wonderful surroundings, just next to a little brook that runs behind the hut which you can paddle in, there’s a trail path that was formerly a railway line that’s about a mile long. Overall we can’t thank Paul & Glenys enough for their hospitality and it really was an excellent few days that we had there. We’ll definitely be back!

Really pleasant and very well thought out space on the edge of the wilds of Herefordshire. So many beautiful areas to explore locally and further afield and Presteigne has some great shops and great places to eat just up the road.

We had a lovely weekend at Millie the Hut. Paul and Glenys were wonderful hosts. They were very helpful with suggestions of activities around the area and the welcome details were all very much appreciated. The location itself is exquisite as its very quiet and with wonderful natural views all around. The firepit and blankets provided were a lovely touch as we spent both outside enjoying the fire and looking at the sky.

It was a much needed break as I work 7 days a week so was looking forward to relaxing

It was wonderful. As good if not better than we were expecting. Suited us perfectly.

Stunning little hut, perfect down to the simplest of things, definitely returning!
