Overview
Enveloped in 250 acres of farmland, Tom’s Hut is on the edge of a hundred-year-old apple orchard, with ample space for two to luxuriate in its beautiful scenery. Morning will find you boiling the kettle on the log burner and settling on the doorstep to admire the vast open space in front of you or taking in the bedside view of the patchwork fields that knit together the landscape. With a spacious private area to yourselves, you may be unsure what to take advantage of first. Equipped with all the necessary elements to cook for yourselves, Tom’s Hut also has a pizza oven and firepit to BBQ, with a private al fresco dining area – complete with a wine cooler. You may find it dangerously easy to stroll from wine cooler to hot tub in the evening, and spend sunset spotting the fallow deer that hop from field to field or just enjoying the amazing views.
With a lineage that’s spanned one hundred years, the Hughes family has warded the land carefully, considering best practises to improve the local soil and water and reduce their carbon footprint. There’s a couple of other spaces onsite, but the spot itself is very secluded, and you’re unlikely to see another soul unless you want to!
You might hear the distant pop of shooting on neighbouring farms when in season, but nothing that isn’t the usual background of the countryside. A mere 20-minute drive to the English-Welsh border, or 15-minutes to one of the many local pubs or restaurants including a 450-year-old cider barn, you can sample the local fare with ease. That is, if you can bear to part with your own little private space…

Meet Jacqui and Glyn
British farming is Jacqui and Glyn's passion. For over a hundred years their family has farmed here. Bringing food to the UK table, caring for our environment, changing and improving their practices, to improve soil and watercourses. Glyn was born on the farm, being the youngest of 7 siblings, who continue to farm in Herefordshire today. He is devoted to his cows, something that he takes pride in. He has won many shows in the past, and still enjoys going to the markets, and chatting to his friends. Jacqui trained as a nurse and has always enjoyed being creative. Now a lot of the time is spent helping on the farm and the holiday cottages. They decided to start their holiday business to diversify the farm and share what they love with others. Sustainability is important to them as they are working hard to reduce their carbon footprint as well as helping to create a thriving local rural economy.
Wildlife & the environment
The farm is over 200 acres and is full of wildlife and the fields are no exception with owls in oak trees and barns, red kites, buzzards, sparrows, pheasants, foxes all present. Farrow deer can be seen from the hut, roaming around, and running back into the woodland. You can hear the chattering of baby owls in the oak trees that scatter the land and line the hedgerows.
They also have their own spring water and are able to reuse this and put it back onto the land. Water is never wasted by recycled. Large contains collect rain waiter to feel the thirsty cattle.
They also have two Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

24/11/2023Hayley
We had a lovely time in the hut. It was super cosy and we loved being able to sit outside, wrapped in blankets, with a cup of tea. The hot tub was fantastic, although it took a while to heat up it was worth the wait! Communication before our stay as brilliant and we would definitely go back.
30/10/2023Rachel
We had a very relaxing and peaceful stay at Tom's Hut. Very secluded with the exception of wildlife. Lovely scenery on a working farm. Ideal for recharging the batteries from everyday life.
28/08/2023Samantha
A very enjoyable stay for three nights.Very quiet and peaceful and helpful hosts. Ideally placed for the black and white village trail. We enjoyed the wood burner as the weather was not at its best
20/07/2023Keith
The perfect private getaway from work and to enjoy some pre-wedding quality time together. We spent a wonderful, but all too short weekend in Tom’s Hut in July and enjoyed wonderful rest in our insanely comfy bed and great conversations and life planning under the stars! The rustic hot tub was the icing on the cake - stargazing together at midnight! Bliss!
30/06/2023Rebecca
We stayed Friday to Sunday for a birthday weekend away. The whole stay exceeded our expectations , the hut is clean and cosy. The parking is right by the accommodation so we didn’t have to carry our bags far. The view from the accommodation is beautiful, looking out across fields and with cows just next door! It was really relaxing and the outdoor bath was wonderful.
12/05/2023Olivia
A beautiful place to stay!!! The little cabin, the outdoor space, hot tub and the views were all incredible and allowed for super relaxing couple of days. Would highly recommend!
02/04/2023Sara
Fantastic stay, Tom's Hut was in the middle of beautiful countryside and very private. Very much enjoyed the wood fired bath tub, where we sat with a glass of wine in the evening, could hear the owls! The hut itself had everything we needed and the log burner kept it very cosy. Cooking and eating in the separate kitchen area was great, looking out over the fields and taking in the view. Sad to leave!
28/03/2023Samantha
We had an absolutely wonderful time. Jacqui and Glen are diamonds. They greeted us on arrival and even ran over to help on a Saturday night when we couldn’t get the hot tub going. No fault of theirs, we were just rubbish! The hut is beautiful, the scenery is amazing - a truly fantastic spot for a little get away. We would love to come back again. Couldn’t recommend Tom’s Hut enough. 10/10!!
27/01/2023Kane
Wonderful. Truly wonderful! Absolutely delightful, I'm not sure how many more amazing words I can use but I loved it!
20/01/2023Jessica
Most peaceful stay I’ve been on. Perfect location, in the middle of the owners farm but you feel as if you are by yourself. The cosiest place to stay. The wood fire tub was perfect in the cold evenings. We met Jacqui briefly and she was absolutely lovely. Will definitely be returning
02/12/2022Charlotte
Our stay at Tom's hut was amazing... Great location.. It had everything you need for a great stay... Would deffinatley recommend..
25/11/2022Simon
It was fantastic! Our first child free weekend in 4 years. Calm, peaceful and relaxing. Couldn't have asked for more
04/11/2022Rosie
Hands down, the best weekend break ever. Tom's hut is absolutely breathtaking. I took my partner here for his birthday and we were absolutely blown away. The hut itself is stunning with everything you could possibly need. The views are absolutely beautiful, especially from the hot tub. We loved sitting in the little wooden 'room' outside in the mornings while we drank our tea, with the panoramic window. Jacqui is the most perfect hostess - she provided everything we could have needed and was always at the other end of the phone should we need anything (not that we did, we had it all!). She left us prosecco, chocolates and balloons as part of his birthday package which really was the cherry on top! Apples from the orchard were delicious. The food at the cider barn is phenomenal too! We didn't want to come home, and will most certainly be back. Thank you for making Chris's birthday so special x
14/10/2022Hannah
Such an incredible place to stay. So idyllic and peaceful and just what you need to escape everyday life and just relax. Facilities are fantastic whether you fancy cooking on the bbq or want to use the electric stove provided to cook instead. The view from the hot tub at sunset is breathtaking.
01/07/2022Becky
I rented this cabin for my partners 30th birthday. (he wanted a break from the boys weekends) we arrived mid afternoon by the owner who gave us the key and explained to us what was in close proximity to us. We could not believe how secluded the spot was. Anything we needed was sorted promptly with the hosts living close by they could pop over if I needed help. There were calves in the field next to us and they were so friendly coming right up to the fence. Oddly/gladly - they didn't moo so it was noisy and we stayed for 2 evenings. We brought bacon and snacks but ate out in two local restaurants each evening. The cabin was really cosy and clean.
10/06/2022Amy
Incredible mini-break. Tom’s hut was absolutely perfect, with everything you could possibly need! Jacqui was a lovely host, who came to greet us and left us a basket of treats. We will definitely return
