Overview
Just imagine taking a stroll through 250 acres of working farm, idling at fences to watch the calves graze by the orchard. Or rather, don’t imagine – just do it. Big Sky Cabin’s perfectly at the midpoint between The Shropshire Hills, The Malvern Hills and The Wye Valley AONB, as well as The Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, making it perfect for those looking to explore the area or simply settle into peace and quiet in the rolling hills and fresh air. Whether you’re heading back or just heading out, you’ll mull over the same hard choices – do you start the day in the rainfall shower, or go even slower, and soak in the spring water-fed Hikki hot tub? Do you wander the quiet country lanes in search of dinner by a roaring fire in an idyllic Welsh pub, or do you create your own masterpiece on the Nordic BBQ grill? You won’t be short of options when it comes to Big Sky Cabin, even where the day will end – round the firepit as the moon arcs the sky, or indoors with the soles of your feet pointed at the wood burner.

Meet Jacqui and Glyn
British farming is Jacqui and Glyn's passion. For over a hundred years their family has farmed here. Bringing food to the UK table, caring for our environment, changing and improving their practices, to improve soil and watercourses. Glyn was born on the farm, being the youngest of 7 siblings, who continue to farm in Herefordshire today. He is devoted to his cows, something that he takes pride in. He has won many shows in the past, and still enjoys going to the markets, and chatting to his friends. Jacqui trained as a nurse and has always enjoyed being creative. Now a lot of the time is spent helping on the farm and the holiday cottages. They decided to start their holiday business to diversify the farm and share what they love with others. Sustainability is important to them as they are working hard to reduce their carbon footprint as well as helping to create a thriving local rural economy.
Wildlife & the environment
The farm is over 200 acres and is full of wildlife and the fields are no exception with owls in oak trees and barns, red kites, buzzards, sparrows, pheasants, foxes all present. Farrow deer can be seen from the hut, roaming around, and running back into the woodland. You can hear the chattering of baby owls in the oak trees that scatter the land and line the hedgerows.
They also have their own spring water and are able to reuse this and put it back onto the land. Water is never wasted by recycled. Large contains collect rain waiter to feel the thirsty cattle.
They also have two Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

We had a magical time at the cabin. It was perfectly secluded and private - so peaceful. We loved being in the middle of a field in rolling hills, with lots of wildlife around. The cabin had everything we needed for 5 nights, with a great shower and instant hot water. The hot tub was lovely.

We had a fantastic and very relaxing stay at Big Sky. The cabin and facilities were perfect for a cosy get away. The attention to detail and rustic feel made it for us.
03/01/2025Lindsay
My stay was perfect, I came for a change of scenery on my own and Jacqui and her partner were the best, super helpful and lovely! I didn’t venture out but felt more than comfortable and content staying inside with great views, the log burner and hot tub!
15/11/2024Aimee
We had the best weekend at Big Sky! The hut is in such a secluded location with lovely views and we loved the hot tub and fire pit. The indoor wood burner kept us nice and warm on a cold November weekend and we enjoyed a good meal at the local pub.
09/11/2024Saskia
The postcode took us directly to the Farm, so no issues getting there.Easy access as once we realised the field was off to left due to sign had fallen off in high einds.Beautiful place clean and very tidy. On arrival we were gifted some beautiful pastries and flapjacks. Log burner was quick to take the chill off the hut. Bed was very comfortable and nice clean sheets with robes and towels left for the hot tub. The shower was amazing after my partner was more interested where the hot water was coming from, big kid

We had a peaceful two day trip to Big Sky. Gorgeous location, in the middle of nowhere. Perfect for a private get away.
14/08/2024Clementine
This was a piece of heaven, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Fabulous stay throughout, we could not fault anything from the property or location. Everything was catered for and the views from the property were stunning. Communication throughout the stay was also brilliant.
03/06/2024Amelia
It was lovely! It was peaceful and quiet. We loved the private set up and the hot tub was lovely!
01/06/2024Emily
We had a lovely stay at Big Sky cabin. The location is perfect - quiet, secluded and no light pollution. We were treated to a beautiful view of the (almost) full moon from the picture window in the bedroom on our first evening! The woodfired hot tub was a great addition and we enjoyed the lovely soft spring water. The hut was really cosy (we only had to light the woodburner once despite the chilly May evenings). Great communication and a warm welcome from our hosts too.
24/05/2024Sarah
Everything was wonderful even the weather
08/05/2024Jane
Big Sky was everything we had hoped for and more. Jacqui got in touch with me before my stay and again the day off to make sure we had everything we need. She was incredibly helpful. The location was fantastic, once we had reached the cabin we felt completely off the grid. All that could be seen was trees and fields which was exactly what we had hoped for. The cabin was beautiful from the fully fitted bathroom, to the cosy kitchen and seating area to the very comfortable bedroom that offered the most stunning views. There were additional blankets should we have needed them and all the kitchen essentials needed for our stay. The decking area offered a fab place to eat or just enjoy the views and nature. Our favourite part by far was the woodfired hot tub. We enjoyed it both of the nights we stayed. It was truly luxurious and what better way to enjoy the evening with a little glass of bubbles while sitting outside in the hot tub, listening to the blackbirds singing and the woodpecker in the background. On the second evening we even heard the owl. The hares roaming around the cabin in the morning were a real treat. National trusts and Hay-on-Wye were close by as were food shops.
12/04/2024Megan
We had a great stay in big sky cabin, was very cosy and had everything we needed for a little escape from reality. Loved the out Door hot tub on the cold evening and the fire but was an added bonus to.
24/03/2024Lucy
Our stay was relaxing from start to finish. We were kept up to date from the hosts at all points with an easy check in process. The cabin had everything we needed and more, it was relaxing, comfortable and cosy. The hot tub was a great touch and really made you feel emerged in the beautiful nature around the cabin. The hosts were on hand at all points if needed but everything was well explained and easy to use. We had an amazing time and would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat away from the stresses of every day.
16/03/2024Beth
We had a wonderful stay in the Big Sky Shepards hut, we were a bit unlucky with the weather, but that didn’t matter at all in the cosy log fire heated cabin! It was a brilliant weekend and would definitely recommend!

Enjoy dining alfresco, soaking in the outdoor wood-fired bath and cosying up in front of the fire if the weather turns. Keep an eye out for the friendly hare and deer too.
