Overview
The traditional shepherd's hut is given a Peruvian feel in Lima, one of two homely spaces at The Bluebell Wood. Lima is situated in beautiful ancient woodland, carpeted with Bluebells in the Spring and swathes of ferns throughout the summer months. The woods and surrounding area are totally private and a 'real getaway' for your stay. Magical fairy lights, tea lights and solar lighting make your feel as though you are sitting in an enchanted woodland setting around the camp fire along with beautiful birdsong and the hooting of owls at night. Near the hut is the kitchen, with a two ring gas hob and picnic table seating. There’s also a fire pit with a tripod cooking pot for the more adventurous outdoor chef. Lima and Posey, share two composting loos, next to a shared outdoor safari shower - lovely and hot! - a minute or so away through the woods, and a fridge in the barn next to the house.
There is much to do and visit in this surrounding area of outstanding beauty. Beautiful walks available over the family farm (200 acres) with another large wood nearby to explore, with streams and glades, and lots of wildlife including some deer. Many pubs and fine dining to choose from including the iconic Daylesford Farm Shop a five minute drive, with locally sourced organic produce to buy, two restaurants and a spa and yoga classes also set in a beautiful location. Further afield you can find the famous cultural events at Cheltenham throughout the year and the historic Stratford upon Avon.

Our guests say...
Rachel
We had a lovely 3 night stay in Lima. The woodland and surrounding area is beautiful, looking out onto fields. Lima hot the sun later in the day which meant we saw the sunsets. We had everything we needed for our stay and the ice pack lasted over 2 days which meant we didn't need to use the fridge or venture out if we didn't want to. The beds were comfy and the little fire made it super toasties, even too hot! So no worries about getting cold. We saw pheasants, squirrels and deer during our stay. The place would be ideal if renting both huts as you would get the whole forest to yourself.
25/10/2024Kirsty
Simple yet beautiful place. Great to be in contact with nature. Very well located within the cotswolds.
19/07/2024Mariano
My stay at Lima was absolutely sublime. I was a woman on my own in the middle of the woods, but felt very safe and secure (might've been helped by the fact the nearby cabin was empty while I was there). It was glorious to be in the sun, in the woods, listening to the birds, reading and relaxing and just generally being zen. The cabin itself was comfortable and functional, and the little kitchen hut had everything needed. As it was warm, I didn't use any of the gas or bbq facilities, but appreciated the ice for the cool box to keep my fruit and veg ready to eat. The only thing I would say was missing was some form of box or place to keep food that didn't need to be kept cool; I had some bread that I hid as best I could, but a little friend still got into it and took it away mid-way through my stay! I had little contact with the owners - just when I arrived and the ice was delivered - but that was fine as I didn't need them, and knew they were a phone call away or, at worst, a few minutes' walk. I definitely want to go back, and for longer this time.
18/06/2024Lauren
We loved the shepherds hut. The bed was so comfy and cosy and it felt nicely secluded. The woodburner was great, as was the outdoor shower. We would love to return for bluebell season as I imagine it would look incredible.
22/03/2024Kata
We had a wonderful stay in Lima. Beautiful location and a very comfortable and cosy cabin which was very well equipped. The kids especially enjoyed the hammock
31/07/2023Tara
Fantastic time in the middle of the woods. Despite the rain the hut was perfect for our needs.
15/08/2022Paul
We had a very relaxing stay at Lima, the area was just so beautiful. Just what we needed.
05/08/2022Elaine
Our stay at lima was so needed. The place is just lovely/peaceful and has everything you need to sit back and relax. Our 3 year old enjoyed exploring the place. It’s just such a perfect place to get away from your Normal day to day goings on and unwind. The outside shower was so warm and nice. Highly recommend you visit lima you will not be disappointed.
27/05/2022Sharron
We had a lovely, last minute short stay in the wood with the bluebells in full bloom and were lucky with the weather. Sunny days but chilly nights. We're hoping to return to the site with a bigger group in future for a stay at Munday's Meadow.
19/04/2022Kate
A really lovely escape for me and my two boys (age 6 and 7). We've been needing some quality time together and our magical stay in the woods at Lima was perfect. It was a beautiful spot, with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. A wonderful woodland, a very comfortable cabin, little well-equipped outdoor kitchen, and compost toilet/outdoor warm shower a few minutes walk through the woods. We enjoyed seeing lots of wildlife, cooking round the campfire, chilling in the hammock as the evening sun poured through the trees and generally having a lovely time.
17/09/2021Stephanie
We chose Lima for a real break away from everything after a difficult 8 months getting over cancer. The location is incredible. It feels so magical walking through the woodland to find your accommodation. We were there on the hottest day (26•) but the woodland gave such a wonderful, natural air conditioned feel it was perfect! We did t leave all weekend except to pick up more supplies. Lima was comfortable and comfortable we found everything we needed for cooking in the kitchen area.
11/06/2021Jo
We had a great stay. We were a family group staying on the camping ground and using Lima for the youngest member of the family to sleep and not wake the others!
01/06/2021Clare
The little hut is situated in a beautiful setting, nestled in the midst of a wood and when we stayed the canopy of trees were resplendent in their autumn glory. The cosy hut, with its tiny wood burning stove is snug and warm. The outdoor kitchen is rustic, with a two burner calor gas stove and plenty of utensils to enable you to cook. For the more adventurous there is also a Dutch oven to suspend over the campfire. The night sky is ablaze with stars and the deepening night a perfect backdrop for the fire and the candlelight. It is so peaceful. The simplicity and the calm invite you to relax and connect with nature. The hosts are welcoming, helpful and on hand if they are needed. If you want to escape and reconnect with nature - this is an idyllic spot.
20/10/2020Linda
An absolutely beautiful setting. A magical bluebell filled wood with rabbits and a pheasant or two. I have never heard such a range of bird song! We enjoyed the fire pit and a walk to the Fox Inn.
17/04/2019Rachael
Stunning, relaxing, quiet, clean and just what the doctor ordered. Beautiful place to go and get some me time.
13/08/2018Alison
A group of 24 friends (including 4 in the shepherd huts Lima and Posey) stayed for a birthday celebration weekend in mid May and we all had the most amazing and memorable time. Our particular highlight was the hobbit hut which was larger than it looked and the stunning bluebell wood where the huts are located a short walk from the meadow. The site had everything we could need for the weekend and it was perfect to have a meadow to ourselves in the beautiful Cotswolds. Georgie was a great host and answered any questions that we had. Thanks for having us!!
24/05/2018Sonya
We stayed over a weekend and got very lucky with very warm weather bar one thunderstorm that was torrential but fun. We cooked on the open fire every night, watched the wildlife and stargazed in silence. It was everything we hoped for.
20/04/2018Elen
A shepherds hut in autumn woods - no one else about other than curious badgers, birds and rabbits. We loved waking up to silence and going to bed smelling of campfires. The hut itself was cosy and well equipped for a weekend stay.
13/10/2017Shona
We had a fantastic time at Lima. It was so relaxing being in the woods and we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and fun. We even got to practice our fire lighting skills which needed some work to begin with but we got there in the end! Georgie gave us a tour of the site and we got to know the woods very well by the end of our stay. The toilets were very clean and pleasant to use and the outdoor shower was very novel!
29/09/2017Amy
This was a total reset for me and my husband. So peaceful to sit under the trees whatever time of the day or night. The hut was super cosy and the bottle of red was a nice touch. Would definitely stay again!

Fantastic, almost private remote spot (at least it felt so to a city dweller), perfect glamping. Met by owner who showed us the fridge then sent us on our way. The compost loo and open-air shower all added to the feel of proper glamping. Beds warm and comfy. Cooking made easy by having it all there: crockery, pans, gas stove, fire pit, tea towels... Rabbits and voles ran past us as we ate.

Could not have been better. Beautiful location, English countryside at its best.. The bluebells surrounding the location emphasised just what an unspoilt location this truly was. An ideal place to get away, relax and enjoy the company of those you travelled with. Fantastic rural walks to suit everyoneclose by. Take a map.... discover the wolds and yourself.

A quiet and secluded bluebell carpet, set in an oak woodland. Birdsong, woodsmoke and a shepherds hut into which to retreat for a deep and restful sleep.

everything we needed for a magical stay in woodlands: seclusion, comfort, good facilities to hand and our own firepit

Our stay at Bluebell Wood, was everything we hoped it would be and more. lovely hut and great facilities in a beautiful location

Lovely 2 night stay in the Lima Shepards hut in the bluebell wood. Really peaceful private location, there is another hut in the woods but it's very much out of sight, out of mind. Arrived to find everything we needed and a complementary bottle of wine (if we are being pedantic red would probably be better with no way of properly chilling the White). Looked around Cotswolds villages in the daytime and relaxed by the fire in the evening.

We loved every minute of pure bliss it was our first experience in a Shepard's hut and absolutely loved the whole experience of much required taste of peace and tranquillity. The hosts I think Charlie very welcoming showing us where to find our way and where to find the necessities. Our little journey to find our hut was truly magical and felt so at home from start to end was sad to leave. I particulary enjoy the setting and the beauty it held. The hammock went down a storm we loved all the lovely little touches which made the kitchen area so nice and the hut was stunning inside and out. So all in all we came away rested and cannot wait to come again to this gorgeous beauty spot hope the hosts liked our comments in book i could have wrote so much.

Our visit was a treat for our nephew, his first camping trip and holiday away from his parents. It was absolutely perfect. The set up had everything we needed, the hut was very cosy, the location was private and we felt incredibly safe (we knew from previous C&S holidays that we would, but it was one of my sister's biggest anxieties as a parent waving their child off for the first time!). We had space to make plenty of our own fun and we were able to immerse ourselves fully into camping life, and we were also close to several attractions and enjoyed days out. We all had a wonderful time and made many memories that we'll treasure!

we recently had two nights in lima at the bluebell woods our daughter brought it as a gift for us for christmas. not being a massive camper or doing without electric we were a little intrepid but we have to say it was a lovely experience and was nice to get away free from the normal hassles of life !! we would definitely recommend it thanks liz and rich

Our stay at Lima was magical! It was a surprise for my boyfriends birthday who had never been 'glamping' before and he absolutely loved it!! The hut is so well kept, clean, smelt beautiful and theirs lots of lovely candles to light all over. The BBQ and fire pit were fantastic and we were able to cook fresh sausages and burgers on the open fire. The view from the hut is amazing, we watched the sunrise and sunset every day from the hammock and it is just so peaceful and quiet. The shower was wonderful and warm, it was such a novelty to shower outside [there is a lock on the door so you have your privacy]. The toilets were also very well kept. Even though there is another hut in the woods we didn't bump into them once so you have you privacy and seclusion. Georgie was an absolute delight and was super helpful in getting two novices on their way to a fantastic glamping weekend in the countryside - thank you so much! We absolutely LOVED it :) :) :)

We had a brilliant stay at Lima. Our host was kind enough to show us to the hut at 11:30pm in the pouring rain which we found very welcoming. The location was nicely secluded in a peaceful wood, although a very short drive from Stow. It was great to be able to have a campfire and a barbecue dinner, but still be able to sleep in a comfortable bed as well. Thoroughly enjoyable stay!
12/06/2015Andrew
We had a lovely time at Lima and couldn't believe how relaxed we felt, being only an hour from home. We made a fire on each night, which was really fun and the hammock was a great touch.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! We had the most wonderful stay at The Bluebell wood in both Lima and Posey for my husbands 40th birthday, meeting up with our old friends. The site is beautifully kept and all the facilities have been well thought out and maintained to the very highest standard. The owner obviously has a superb eye for detail so the shepherds huts are just a delight to stay in. The beds were really comfy and the linen is beautiful vintage fabric with the odd touch of lace, an oasis in the woodland! We lit the woodburning stoves before bed time so after an afternoon and evening of cooking out on the open fire, we had a warm and cosy room to retire to. We honestly had the very best stay here and plan to come again with our children - who will LOVE it. A perfect blend of creature comforts and the great outdoors, I would definitely recommend this place and we can't wait to go back. Also thank you Canopy and Stars for the parcel for Jim for his birthday which was waiting for us when we got home. A really nice touch!

"It was a perfect get away from it all, in a beautiful setting. I can't think of anything that would have improved it. It looked just as I imagined it. (I thought the toilet was a little closer, but it wasn't a problem. I braved the woods at midnight with just a lantern and a nightdress!)"

"Absolutely wonderful couple of days. The hut was basic but cosy with the woodstove, romantic as it comes with the woods surrounding us, and a fire and basic kitchen was all we needed. In glorious surroundings as well, so can easily recommend it any time of year - though it might get that bit too chilly in Winter!"
23/05/2013Will
"We really really enjoyed our stay- the hut was lovely and cosy and the little outdoor kitchen area had everything we could need. Really comfortable beds as well."

"We loved our trip! The owners Georgie and Francis were so welcoming and the shepherds hut, idyllic. We had rather an interesting stay because it snowed (!), however the hut was surprisingly toastie once we got the wood burner going! We will certainly be returning to experience the wood with the bluebells in bloom or with the sun streaming through the leafy canopy!!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lima. The bed was amazingly comfortable and waking up in the morning to make coffee and drink it in the covered outdoor kitchen was a real treat, especially in the rain. The outdoor shower was also fantastic, although I suspect it's best when the weather is not too cold and I would bring flip-flops next time. The bottle of bubbly was a lovely and appreciated touch."

"Had a lovely stay. Shepherd's hut was cosy and warm with comfortable bedding and my 3 year old son had a great time collecting firewood, climbing trees and making a den. Hut so cosy and warm and son so worn out that he slept until 11:30AM! Worst thing... we were a little too early to see the bluebells in full bloom!"
13/04/2012Melanie
"We all loved it... Particularly the 2 and 5 year olds who played from dawn until dusk making camps and gathering wood for the fire... Unforgettable!"

"We had a fantastic time. We really felt that so much thought had gone into the facilities at Lima. It was amazing to have such quietness and tranquility but also be really comfortable and have everything we needed. My stay at Lima was wonderful. The welcome was warm from the hosts and the site was beautiful and peaceful but only 5 mins drive from Moreton-in-Marsh so the best of both worlds. I loved the Peruvian inspired colourful decor and the woodburner inside the shepherd's hut. It was also a very good size and the double bed was very comfy with lovely soft sheets, warm blankets and the hot water bottle was a nice touch too. The nearby outdoor kitchen was very well stocked and all the candles and fairy lights made it all look so pretty after dark. I was able to cook a meal over the fire which felt very special thanks to the pot and tripod provided. I spent several hours sat in the deckchairs looking peacefully out over the fields and really enjoyed being able to walk freely around the site. I spotted several deer and enjoyed seeing the pheasants pottering around. I enjoyed the thunderbox toilets and the outdoor shower. This could have been improved by some lighting as at night it was a little tricky finding the way, but I also liked the secluded-ness and off grid feel to the place. I had a completely wonderful time there and found it very restorative, body, mind and soul

Simple yet beautiful place. Great to be in contact with nature. Very well located within the cotswolds.

We loved the shepherds hut. The bed was so comfy and cosy and it felt nicely secluded. The woodburner was great, as was the outdoor shower. We would love to return for bluebell season as I imagine it would look incredible.

We had a lovely, last minute short stay in the wood with the bluebells in full bloom and were lucky with the weather. Sunny days but chilly nights. We're hoping to return to the site with a bigger group in future for a stay at Munday's Meadow.

We had a great stay. We were a family group staying on the camping ground and using Lima for the youngest member of the family to sleep and not wake the others!

An absolutely beautiful setting. A magical bluebell filled wood with rabbits and a pheasant or two. I have never heard such a range of bird song! We enjoyed the fire pit and a walk to the Fox Inn.
