Overview
Fittingly for its aviation-inspired design, The Fuselage seems to float above the hills, looking out on miles of the Cotswolds from its lofty perch. You wake up in the curved bedroom space with the fields stretched out in front of you, then wander over to the kitchen to get the coffee going. The shower (with plenty of hot water) and loo hut is a few steps away in the other direction, so you’ll breeze around the camp, never taking your eyes off the scenery. The curved space is cleverly fitted with folding furniture, so while you’re cooking you can slide the bed out of the way and prepare the cabin for dining. There’s a wood-burner for warmth, soft and simple decor throughout and board games for when you’ve worn yourselves out exploring. In the evening, you can light the fire bowl and huddle round, or take a dip in the hot tub. The sunsets are spectacular and when it finally gets dark, the night sky takes over.
Owner Kate remembers being struck by the change of soundscape when she moved down from London, swapping traffic and sirens for calling stag, hooting owls and the gentle rustle of foraging muntjac deer. Expect to hear rehearsals and performances from the famous Giffords Circus, who own a nearby field, if you stay in April or September. Kate and husband Piers are just down the track and will welcome you, show you round, then leave you to it unless you need them. They can point you in the direction of great farm shops and local pubs, or send you into that lovely landscape. The Laurie Lee Way and the Cotswold Way run nearby, there’s a local vineyard that makes for a delicious visit, and any one of a number of beautiful houses, gardens and historic sites. When you get home, you can stick the kettle on, sit back and let yourself fly out into that fabulous view one more time.

Meet Piers, Kate, Jack and Pip
Piers and Kate had an eye on the house, The Nodlings, for a number of years before buying it. They then rented it out for a spell before moving in, over 10 years ago. They think its setting is pretty special and still can't believe their luck waking up there every day. Their son, Jack lives with them along with Pip the small, friendly terrier,
The location of The Fuselage at the top of their land gets their vote for the best views (their home is nestled amongst the trees, further down) and so they've always had a soft spot for it. Piers and Kate loved the idea of sharing this spot with others, especially those who may not be able to enjoy the countryside on a daily basis, but who love what it has to offer, even if only for a short break. Having both been city and country dwellers, they really understand the importance of getting back to nature.
With their combined skills - Piers is a landscaper with a background in flying and aerial photography and Kate a writer (content writer and poet) with a background in arts administration – they felt they had lots to bring to this exciting new leg of their journey and, more importantly, to guests’ experience. So they decided to embrace the goal and the challenges of becoming great glamping hosts!
Wildlife & environment
Lypiatt Hill is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and guests can expect to see starry sky, rolling hills, trees, distant groups of horses and cows and, closer to home, ever-present families of deer, muntjac, buzzards and owls. They might catch the diving swifts or visiting African swallows, too. Squirrels, rabbits and foxes are never far away either and, for some of the year, either friends’ sheep or a neighbour’s cows graze in the field just below the cabin. It’s a great place for animal lovers.
Foragers will find crab apples, blackberries, sloes, rosehips and elderberries. Also chestnuts and various mushrooms - though, sadly, they aren’t experts on which ones to eat. Sorry!
They have their own spring and so, their own water which they think is delicious. Piers and Kate hope guests will think so too.

We had an excellent stay at The Fuselage. We loved all the little details and how homely the cabin felt, waking up to the lovely views, the well thought-out kitchen, relaxing in the hot tub. It was the perfect place to escape for a few nights and enjoy the outdoors, but with a good deal of comfort. The brownies were also delicious!

Absolutely delightful experience! The Fuselage couldn’t be more comfortable and we loved its quirkiness. Feeling nestled in nature, the views through the round window were stunning - spotting deer just a few metres away was a highlight! Relaxing in the hot tub at sunset after a glorious walk over Swifts Hill to Slad & back was just perfect. Kate couldn’t have been a more thoughtful host - thank you!

Me and my sisters stayed at the fuselage for my birthday and we had the most incredible time. Kate, the owner, was lovely and extremely helpful and the place was great. The location was beautiful, the fuselage was really clean and had everything we needed. The wildlife was very pretty we saw many butterflies and deer. We would definitely stay here again, it was the perfect glamping experience and we miss it so much!

We had an amazing stay at The Fuselage, it was an amazing little get away. The hosts were absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble. They even arranged a little surprise for one of my friends as it was her birthday. It was clean, tidy and had the most amazing view! Although the hot tub took a while to heat up as it's a wood fired one, it was totally worth it! Can't recommend this place enough and am looking to return again in the near future!
08/03/2024Stephanie
My sister and I had a fabulously chilled weekend in a gorgeous site. There were some issues with the water supply that were totally outside the owners' control - we had the option of cancelling or rearranging but decided to go ahead anyway, and the owners made sure we had plenty of bottled water and everything else we needed. They were on hand if we needed them, but totally unobtrusive. So we had a cosy weekend, in a beautiful location.
19/01/2024Fran
We really enjoyed the privacy offered by location of the fuselage . Great experience.
08/11/2023Zsolt
The Fuselage certainly provides the views! You can look out for miles across to Wales, whilst sitting out in front of the fire with a cup of tea or in the hot tub surrounded by trees. The property is such an interesting design and is cleverly designed to make use of all space available! The wood burner and under floor heating provides all the warmth you will need, and the beautiful windows bring the outside in. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you would need to cook up a feast, and the shutter-style windows means you can cook whilst overlooking the valley.
19/10/2023Katie, Canopy & Stars
2 day stay and probably the nicest set up I’ve had the pleasure of staying in, all as described with some fantastic views across the countryside Just me and the dog staying and was perfect the feild the fuselage is located in is big enough for a energetic spaniel to run around with lots of routes leading off to go and explore
11/09/2023Jake
We had a fabulous time. Kate was lovely, met us on arrival and was ever so friendly. I had a few questions for her during the week and she always gave swift responses. A perfect holiday.
21/08/2023Lee
A truly great experience. We spent three nights at the Fuselage and we wish we could have stayed longer. The place is very well taken care of and a great escape regardless of the weather conditions (weirdly we came to experience all sorts of weather during our stay). Whether sittng outside or inside Lypiatt Hill offers a breathtaking view. The Fuselage is also super proximate to the little town of Stroud, which we visited on Saturday, when the Farmers' market is on. We would totally recommend.
09/06/2023Viktor
Lovely little quirky cabin privately located in family grounds with beautiful views. All amenities that you could need. Warm and cosy. Good local area with lots of walks and good pubs.
02/06/2023Lisa
We all had a great weekend, we really enjoyed our stay. Weather was great so we really made the most of relaxing outside.
26/05/2023Sarah
We had an amazing stay at the Fuselage. The location and setting are great and we loved the accommodation!
05/05/2023Tom
We stayed at the Fuselage for my birthday and having been looking forward to it all month! We were already excited by the photos and very handy digital guidebook we were able to read through before our stay, but it was even better in person! The views are incredible and nothing beats sleeping under the stars. Despite it being January, the wood burber and underfloor heating kept it super cosy and the Dutch tub, was a real treat with a glass of wine or two! Everything is finished to an incredibly high standard and everything is thought of. We couldn't have improved it at all! We onlyet Kate, but she was super warm and friendly, leaving us with lots of treats for our stay. We took Kate and Pier's advice and did the Laurie Lee Circular walk and had a fantastic time taking in the views and buzzard spotting. We'd recommend the Fuselage to anyone looking for a real getaway. I'm sure it would be brilliant with kids too, but we were very happy us two and the dog. Thank you a million!
30/01/2023Amy
This was a surprise birthday weekend and was magical. Waking up to those views, the hot tub under the stars and all the thoughtful touches make it a wonderful space. The local area is delightful with plenty of walks and pubs to keep you entertained.
19/11/2022Rin
Stayed in the last week of October and had a wonderful week relaxing as a family. Our girls (6&7) were able to run around the field and use the trampoline to their heart’s content. Lovely walks locally to friendly pubs and plenty to do further afield such as the Forest of Dean. Fantastic hosts, very friendly and welcoming.
24/10/2022Mark
We loved our stay at the Fuselage. The owners were really accommodating and the rental was well laid out and clean. There was plenty of field space for dog roaming (on a lead). The view was great especially when taking in the sun sets. The kitchen was well laid out and the provisions were a delight. Simply lovely!
07/10/2022Pete
Gorgeous location overlooking the valley which meant a cool breeze on hot days. The nearby farmers’ market provided delicious BBQ food and Kate could not have been more welcoming. Total relaxation.
15/07/2022Lorna
Amazing location and facilities - especially the hot tub! Even though it was raining some of the time - the patio with the hot tub is under a huge oak tree so hardly any rain got through. Would definitely stay again and recommend.
03/06/2022andrew
This place was a little piece of paradise not too far from home. We had such a restful weekend with magnificent views from the hot tub and a cute and quirky place to stay. The bedding was really luxurious! Kate was very helpful and also left us to ourselves, which we appreciated.
27/05/2022Samantha
It was a wonderful experience staying in a Cabin over the Christmas. Our lovely host, Kate, was friendly, nice and thoughtful. We love the homemade brownies and apple juice she prepared. The scenery outside the window was picturesque. There is a new hot tub just beside the cabin! A tranquil place to stay with friends or family.

We had beautiful autumnal weather and the accommodation was perfect for what we required. Kate, the owner was extremely helpful and she left lots of thoughtful touches like butter, marshmallows, fresh milk and spices, and a stock cupboard with all the basics. View from the Fuselage was perfect, it was secluded and perfect for some private time. Kate had thought of all the little things to ensure that we felt comfortable. Sunset was spectacular and fire bowl was cherry on the top.
24/11/2021DEEPNA
Myself and my daughters always get together for my late husbands birthday, each year we try to do something fun and different and enjoy each other. The fuselage was perfect we’d never stayed in a remote location and it seemed perfect for good memory sharing and family time.
05/11/2021Cara
It was different to anything I’ve seen before and we were the only people their so a lot a privacy,
27/10/2021Bella
Amazing weekend - we arrived on the Friday afternoon and the view was incredible over the valley. We had a stunning sunset on day one and cozied up in the cabin to watch it. Waking up to see deer in the field was an absolute treat. You feel very secluded here which was just perfect. We came here with our dog and she loved all the local walks (we did the Laurie Lee wildlife walk and stopped at the Woolpack - so good). Afternoons were spent in the hammock enjoying the autumn sun and evenings were by the firepit. A perfect weekend getaway.
15/10/2021Ellen
A perfect long weekend in the countryside. I think our dog enjoyed it more than us!
09/10/2021James
Wonderful peaceful stay in a unique quirky place. Kate and Piers were lovely hosts and the extra touches they included were much appreciated. The whole experience of staying in a beautiful self made fuselage/campsite was magical and to wake up to pure nature on your doorstep is a truly memorable experience
06/10/2021Trevor
We stayed 2 nights at the fuselage- 2 adults and 2 children. We had beautiful autumnal weather and the accomodation was perfect for what we required. Kate, the owner was extremely helpful and she left lots of thoughtful touches like homemade brownies, fresh milk and flowers, and a stock cupboard with all the basics. The children loved hunting for minibeasts and we all explored the local footpaths to the pub! We will definitely be visiting again!
17/09/2021Emily
A 4 night stay at the fuselage with my wife and our 2 children, we could relax and enjoy the views of the countryside, look out for the wildlife, enjoy woodland walks and use the superb facilities of our fuselage camping site. We also wondered into nearby Stroud and enjoyed lunch at the brilliant woolpack pub! An excellent break all round!
09/08/2021Aaron
What a totally magic place! Up on a hill with a divine view of the rolling countryside, The Fuselage was a very special place to stay. It had everything we needed for a long weekend and was really beautifully designed. The August weather was typically British so we spent the first day looking out of the window, playing games and reading the papers. The camp kitchen was fantastic and the loo and shower block was very convenient. We had a couple of lovely walks from The Fuselage and felt safe enough to let the kids wander off on their own. Could not recommend it enough for either a couple of a family like ours - 2 kids (6 & 8). Thank you Kate!
06/08/2021Kate
A totally different place to stay, and well equipped for whatever the weather threw our way!
25/06/2021Laura
We had a lovely 2 night break. It was so quiet and peaceful there and the views were amazing. We sat out both nights and watched the sun go down. Would highly recommend.
11/06/2021Karen
Amazing unique place. Fuselage great glamping stay with luxuries, including the bedding and log burner to keep you warm all year round and make your tea/coffee in the morning without venturing outside. Owners have thought of everything all you need are your wellies, coat and food to enjoy in the outside kitchen area. The views are amazing. Children loved it, however great for any age/group type. Can’t wait to revisit when the hot tub has been installed and the indoor kitchen built to enjoy on rainy days.
24/05/2021Liane
Stunning venue with spectacular views and total escape, without being too far from the shops etc. Accommodation was well thought out and extremely comfortable. I loved the bbq, and totally lives up to the 'glam' in glamping. Definitely the way to do it.
10/07/2020C
We had such a lovely weekend! The Fusalage is a lovely place to stay. It is so so unique, with amazing views, hot shower and lovely little touches from the family. The hosts are so amazing and helpful- Kate gave Laura a birthday card and bubbles which was so thoughtful! We really enjoyed our stay. It was so comfortable. We were able to hide from Storm Dennis!! The woolpack pub was a lovely meal we highly recommend going there. We couldn’t cook as much as we hoped because of the weather! But overall amazing time! We hope to return in the sunshine to experience walking and eating outside! The log fire inside kept us warm :) thank you so much xxxx
14/02/2020Andy
We chose the fuselage because of the scenery. The fact that there’s only one fuselage on site which other sites didn’t offer and the log burner was a big hit.
13/11/2019Ben
We had a wonderful stay at The Fuselage. Kate and Piers were great hosts and we appreciated the carefully chosen local products and supplies. The structure was more Alvar Aalto than rustic shepherds hut and all the better for it. The weather was not kind to us but we still had a very enjoyable stay. The rain held off long enough to toast the complimentary marshmallows on the fire, so the children were happy and the trip to The Woolpack through the woods, the impromptu sing along with the locals and game of Scrabble was infinitely more memorable than most weekends watching Netflix and texting friends.

My four year old son wanted to go camping but as a fair weather camper I persuaded him that a stay at the Fuselage would be better. We had a great time ... Kate was very welcoming and the accommodation was a good mix of outdoorsy novelty for my son (fire pit, den building, trampoline) and lots of little luxury treats to make the experience great for me too (local foodie treats, hot shower and fancy toiletries). We’d definitely recommend the Fuselage to friends and family. We hope to be back again next year.

We had an amazing stay at the fuselage, Lypiatt Hill. Wonderful location with our own personal view across fields, wood and valley to the Severn estuary and beyond to the black hills. Three beautiful sunsets by our fire pit watching deer and rabbits, listening to owls and relaxing in the autumn evenings. We were made incredibly welcome by Kate with delicious local goodies and fresh flowers. Perfect break, couldn’t have wished for more from our glorious glamp!

From the moment we parked up, we felt at home and relaxed, surrounded by beautiful views and silence, nothing but the sound of the tractor in a nearby field harvesting his crops. The host Kate had already been in touch asking if we had any questions etc., and upon arriving she was extremely welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Kate showed us up to the Fuselage and went through where everything was and had already stocked the fridge and outdoor hamper with some local produce for us. Once we'd been shown everything, Kate left us to enjoy our weekend with them, but was always on hand if we needed a basic question answered, like was the tap water drinkable - it is, and from their local spring. A quick run down the local Supermarket and we were done, that was it, a glass of wine in hand, the outdoor stove cooking up a chilli, the little man was playing games and running around exploring, like most kids do. He was in his element, for a child (& us) this experience was epic and he didn't stop smiling from start to finish and neither did we. A walk through the woods to the local pub is well worth it and without a doubt we will be going back. Thank you for a wonderful break with you.

Wonderful stay at the Fuselage. Kate was utterly charming and greeted us in person to show us this very cleverly designed space. It is a brilliantly conceived area with every possible comfort. We were there in the rain and in the glorious sun and it was perfect in both. Our hosts were also incredibly generous, providing fresh farm eggs, milk, bread, butter, honey, chocolate brownies - in short, we were spoilt. They have also provided lots of really helpful advice and recommendations in the area. The walk to the Woolpack Inn is a must. But the wildlife also will come to you without ever going anywhere - inquisitive deer, the sound of the owls, dancing hares. But the view from the platform as the sun goes down, that is what we will remember most. Thank you for sharing this space with us, for you thoughtfulness and your generosity.

We had a great stay, best glamping experience we’ve ever had
19/08/2019Claire
We had a couple of nights at the Fuselage and loved it straight away. Our ten year old wants to live there forever. Kate was a superb host throughout. There are some useful and lovely local shops within five minutes when we needed supplies, and great walks straight from the bottom of the field.
12/08/2019Tim
Absolutely loved it, Kate was so welcoming & made everything so easy for us. Really well thought out little touches, back to nature but luxurious too.
26/07/2019Karen
Exceptional. The pre-trip info from Kate and Piers was friendly, informative and well timed and the welcome and location itself is absolutely lovely. I stayed two night with my 9 and 7 year old sons who loved the woods, loved the trampoline, loved the outdoor cooking and LOVED the fuselage itself. We were welcomed with local cider (cold!), local butter, milk, juices and excellent equipment from firewood to gas stoves to knife and cutlery kits to frying pans. Very impressive and very welcome. We've stayed in a few similar places and the Fuselage was absolutely wonderful and the Dents are perfect hosts.

Amazing location, clean and lots of extras provided which made us most welcome. Kate and Piers are lovely people and our family had an amazing stay.

We had a very enjoyable time in The Fuselage. Our hosts, Kate & Piers we’re very welcoming. A unique camping experience with lots of thoughtful touches ranging from comfy duvets, Cowshed products and a fully equipped kitchen area finished off with a beautiful view. Toasting marshmallows around the fire pit at sunset is a must!

From the first moment we turned off Bisley road we were faced with a stunning view. The Fuselage sits atop a valley with a quintessential view of the countryside that stretches all the way to the Black Mountains. In the daytime the sun dances between the clouds creating an ever-changing pallet of colour and as the sun sets the light intensifies creating an ethereal glow punctuating the clouds above…and that’s the view we enjoy for the entire stay from the south-facing window thanks to the beautiful design of Fuselage. Despite being outdoors, the kitchen comes equipped with everything you need to make a five-star meal. The washing facilities are all located in a gorgeous wooden cabin that has clearly been designed and decorated with a lot of love. The local area is full of interesting places to visit. I would recommend a visit to Slimbridge wildlife centre and for those with a penchant for walking, a trip to Swifts hill and on to the Woolpack pub in Slad is a brilliant way to spend an afternoon.
All in all, we had an amazing time, Thank you!

It was the best birthday getaway I could have asked for! The weather wasn't great one of the days but we still got out for a walk and got sunshine the other day which was lovely! The surrounding area was great full of cute pubs and a wonderful community. Easy to get around on just your feet!

We really enjoyed the privacy offered by location of the fuselage . Great experience.

2 day stay and probably the nicest set up I’ve had the pleasure of staying in, all as described with some fantastic views across the countryside Just me and the dog staying and was perfect the feild the fuselage is located in is big enough for a energetic spaniel to run around with lots of routes leading off to go and explore

We had a fabulous time. Kate was lovely, met us on arrival and was ever so friendly. I had a few questions for her during the week and she always gave swift responses. A perfect holiday.

Lovely little quirky cabin privately located in family grounds with beautiful views. All amenities that you could need. Warm and cosy. Good local area with lots of walks and good pubs.

This was a surprise birthday weekend and was magical. Waking up to those views, the hot tub under the stars and all the thoughtful touches make it a wonderful space. The local area is delightful with plenty of walks and pubs to keep you entertained.

We loved our stay at the Fuselage. The owners were really accommodating and the rental was well laid out and clean. There was plenty of field space for dog roaming (on a lead). The view was great especially when taking in the sun sets. The kitchen was well laid out and the provisions were a delight. Simply lovely!

Gorgeous location overlooking the valley which meant a cool breeze on hot days. The nearby farmers’ market provided delicious BBQ food and Kate could not have been more welcoming. Total relaxation.

Amazing location and facilities - especially the hot tub! Even though it was raining some of the time - the patio with the hot tub is under a huge oak tree so hardly any rain got through. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

This place was a little piece of paradise not too far from home. We had such a restful weekend with magnificent views from the hot tub and a cute and quirky place to stay. The bedding was really luxurious! Kate was very helpful and also left us to ourselves, which we appreciated.

Myself and my daughters always get together for my late husbands birthday, each year we try to do something fun and different and enjoy each other. The fuselage was perfect we’d never stayed in a remote location and it seemed perfect for good memory sharing and family time.

It was different to anything I’ve seen before and we were the only people their so a lot a privacy,

A totally different place to stay, and well equipped for whatever the weather threw our way!
25/06/2021Laura
We had a lovely 2 night break. It was so quiet and peaceful there and the views were amazing. We sat out both nights and watched the sun go down. Would highly recommend.

Stunning venue with spectacular views and total escape, without being too far from the shops etc. Accommodation was well thought out and extremely comfortable. I loved the bbq, and totally lives up to the 'glam' in glamping. Definitely the way to do it.

We chose the fuselage because of the scenery. The fact that there’s only one fuselage on site which other sites didn’t offer and the log burner was a big hit.
