Overview
Perched in a peaceful and secluded corner of the English countryside, just around the corner from our historic deer park, you’ll find Withybed Camp. It’s a good ten-minute walk from, well, anything at Stock Gaylard, so you have the entire camp all to yourselves and its other 1800 acres of land to explore.
There is a kitchen for your personal use including a gas hob, oven and fridge/freezer. There is also a BBQ with tools, or you can cook over the campfire. The large safari living tent offers a comfortable inside space to relax, as well as a covered outdoor seating area for al fresco dining. The three sleeping yurts contain cosy rugs and comfy beds, and you can even view the stars through the skylight in the roof. The whole camp faces west so whether you are lying in bed, or toasting marshmallows over the fire, you’ll get the best view of the sun setting below the Dorset horizon.
There are two flushing toilets with two mains water gas showers, and don’t miss the opportunity to have a ‘bath under the stars’, though you’ll need to heat your own bathwater in the wood-fired heater first.
Please note: Withybed Camp normally sleeps 15, but 2 more people may bring an extra tent at the additional cost of £30 per person per stay. Please call 0117 204 7830 to enquire & book.

Stock Gaylard Estate is a small, traditional estate of about 1800 acres, including 300 acres of oak woodland, 80 acres of common land and an 80 acre deer park with a small lake. Owners Andrew and Josie lived for a number of years in East Africa where they first discovered that camping can actually be comfortable! This inspired them to create a place where two families could camp together in comfort, in the beautiful surroundings at Stock Gaylard.
Wildlife & environment
Conservation and preservation are at the heart of everything done at Stock Gaylard, and the unspoilt environment you see today combines modern dairy farming with a number of Sites of Special Scientific Interest. There are a number of conservation projects running on the estate including the habitat restoration of Lydlinch Common in order to promote both the nightingales and marsh fritillary butterfly. The estate has a number of barn and tawny owls and up to 20 species of butterflies can be spotted over the summer months on the many conservation headlands, fields and hedgerows around the farms.

Absolutely wonderful stay at Withy Yurts. Such a gorgeous setting and for kids had a ball. Lovely local pub too!
22/07/2024Louise
Our stay was great, everything was as expected if not more. Greta facilities, amazing location. Great chilled weekend with friends and children. You had the experience of the outdoors with all the qualities of being at home!
18/08/2023Amy
A party of 10 of us, including 4 children stayed for a long weekend at Withy Bed Camp. Historically we meet annually at a "Centerparcs" type place but fancied a change and we were not disappointed. The camp had everything we needed, with some very carefully considered points, such as umbrella's for the inevitable summer rain (which did not stop us exploring the beautiful countryside), boot boxes in the yurts and a very well stocked kitchen. We all loved being off grid, playing board games, hide n seek, toasting marshmallows and playing music. The children had a weekend away from devices and the adults had a chance to decompress in the most beautiful of sites. We all agreed to book With Bed for our annual reunion again next year.
28/07/2023Michelle
Lovely site. Great views and walks.
21/07/2023Rebecca
It was a beautiful location with really thoughtful and comfortable touches. The weather was pretty terrible most of the time but the yurts were completely dry and cosy and we still had a lovely time.
31/03/2023Holly
We absolutely loved our stay at Withybed. The facilities were fantastic, the location was peaceful and beautiful, absolutely everything had been thought of down to the tiny details.
29/08/2022Katie
It was fantastic, the accommodation is great. We all had a brilliant few days.
30/05/2022Helen
Brilliant group space with plenty of room. Lovely indoor living tent with a table, games, books, sofas and nice big tables outside with firepit, tree swing and space to spread out. Small but very practical kitchen and good washing facilities. Big open space with no one else around and can fully switch off from the world.
12/05/2022Chloe
Great venue. Stunning location, very comfortable beds. Very relaxing.
03/09/2021Robin
Everything about our stay was perfect!!! From the very start we were amazed, everything was very well kept and exceeded our expectations. We honestly felt like we had all the benefits of the great outdoors without giving up the luxuries of a hotel. We couldn't recommend Withy Bed Camp more.
19/07/2021Iman
Better than we could have anticipated! An amazing glamping spot for group stay-cations. The pictures don't do it justice
21/06/2021Tia
This was one of the best holidays I have ever had and bear in mind that I am sixty years old! There was enough contact with the owners who were on hand should we have need them. There was a nice mix of rustic and luxury comined to give a special experience.
07/09/2020David
12 of us stayed at the yurt camp for a big end of summer family get away and it was honestly perfect. As a family who all have busy jobs spent on laptops or phones, it was so lovely just to switch off and have some peace and quiet. The yurts were well equipped and had beautiful charm. The surrounding areas were so quiet and had lots of lovely walks which we loved as a family. The kitchen appeared to be fairly basic at first sight, but had everything you needed, along with a welcome cake which was delicious. Honestly couldn't be happier with our stay, thank you so much for a fantastic weekend away.

Wonderful stay at Withy Bed Camp!
28/06/2019Peggy
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. Really can't fault it. Everything was great. The privacy of the camp was wonderful, we felt completely away from it all and never left the camp the entire time we were there. No contact from the outside world was bliss. Particularly enjoyed relaxing in the outdoor bath under the stars. We will definitely be back for more simple (yet luxury) living!
19/04/2019Nicola
Came here from Monday-Friday for my 21st with a group of friends and we had the most incredible time. The camp site is beautiful, really well decorated and surprisingly luxurious - the beds are to die for! Our hosts were so friendly and helpful. Honestly can't emphasise enough how much you need to visit this site. Looking forward to coming back soon!

We went with two other couples and loved every minute ! Josie and Andrew made us very welcome and talked us through everything in camp .The yurts are fab ,really comfy beds and lovely decor . The outdoor kitchen was a great bonus as well as the BBQ . The outdoor bath was a special experience too , gazing at the stars while drinking some bubbly . Overall a really lovely time was had by everyone and we would definitely recommend to our friends and family .

We had a fab time! Really well situated, well equip, lovely chocolate Welcome Cake, and THE most comfortable beds!!
22/06/2018Catherine
We had a wonderful week with 5 adults, 9 kids and 2 dogs. Completely and utterly relaxing and the site is so well set up. We all slept well, loved the outdoor wood-fired bath (and convenience of the gas-heated shower), made lots of fires and generally enjoyed ourselves.
28/05/2018Florence
Had a fabulous time. Our hosts were really helpful and the lovely cake on arrival settled us in.
11/08/2017Stacey
A group of 9 of us were down in Dorset for a friend's wedding. We had such a lovely time at Withy Bed Yurts and the location was great - we were only 15minutes drive from the wedding venue and close to a few small supermarkets for BBQ supplies! We also drove down to the coast one day and that was brilliant. The yurts are really cosy, nicely decorated, comfy beds, great little fire pit area and easy to use BBQ. No one used the bath but we all agreed the shower was great. Outdoor toilet was fine for a few days! Wendy was really helpful and very sweet, the shower broke at one point and she has someone down within literally 5 minutes and it was fixed straight away. We would absolutely come back! Thank you!
14/07/2017Hannah
family get-together in three well equipped, beautifully constructed yurts.Solar powered 'fridge and lights ,which added a touch of magic,Gas cooker and shower and fun of heating our own water with wood supplied to bathe under the stars.Comfy beds, bird song, songs around the camp fire, lovely walks.
03/07/2017angela
What a wondeful site! Having two yurts for sleeping in and one for socialising made it very restful for everyone - those who wanted to sleep half the day in the exceedingly comfortable beds and those who wanted to play board games and charades around the fire into the night (there was a lot of both!) were all accommodated. There are gorgeous views all around as the Sun is setting, and walks to local pubs which are very worth doing. Everyone had a peaceful, sociable time (and the most wonderful baths in the open air) and would really love to come back. Thank you!
14/04/2017Pippa
We had the most wonderful time. Granted, the weather was definitely on our side but the situation and accommodation were equally satisfying. Great attention to detail, total seclusion and a very warm welcome.
07/04/2017Jemima
All we can say is WOW! The place is amazing and then some!!! We cannot fault one thing at all and would highly recommend anyone to go there! The whole camp was built with love and nothing was too much trouble for the owners Josie and Andrew. Josie even baked us the most delicious cake for us to have with tea on our arrival! Who does that???? Josie does! I cannot list the great points about this place as there are too many! Everything you could possibly need is thought of and is there! My kids were so excited about making fires that they used all the wood. Andrew kindly brought us some straight up for a very small charge and when they used it all again he brought them some more! It's very private but you know they are there to look after you. The yurts are beautiful and very comfortable. We will definitely be back!!!!! The photos look great but it's so more lovely when you se there. Thank you so much xxx
03/04/2017Lisa
It was a magical weekend. Andy couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The yurts had been improved since our last stay and the extra touches were thoughtful and much appreciated it. The set-up is amazing – the warm, cosy beds, the outdoor shower and the bath beneath the stars.
16/09/2016Amanda
The stay was absolutely perfect! It had everything we needed and it was in the best location! It had a lovely shower which was nice and hot, the beds were super comfortable and we had all we needed to make lovely dinners for everyone. The fire pit was lovely and we loved sitting out there untill the late hours of the evening. The weather turned out perfect which made it even better. I would definately go back there again!
22/07/2016Gabriela
It was just amazing! Great facilities, isolated spot, wonderful view and fab outdoor bath. Perfect.

Beautiful location, fab accommodation and great weather - perfect!
03/06/2016Julia
Fantastic! They thought of everything and the outside bath is magical!
13/05/2016Emma
We had a lovely time! The yurts are very comfortable with proper beds, the hot shower was a welcome addition and it was great being able to cook inside the living yurt on the gas hob. Also having a camping fridge was wonderful, so no worries about food poisoning! We didn't see another person pass by between Andy coming to settle us in, and coming to say good bye! Beautifully isolated, loads of space for the kids to run about and very well equipped. Andy and Josie have put a lot of thought into furnishing and stocking the yurts.
20/07/2015Jenny
Great fun! Very comfortable in a camping sort of way; the shower was good; the lavatory was 'fresh'; we used the open air bath with it's log-heated water; between log fire, BBQ, and small gas hob there was no problem with cooking and hot drinks. The location is very private and there's plenty of wildlife. The owners were very obliging and helpful. All in all an excellent stay.
05/06/2015ross
"Enjoyed the isolation, the peace and quiet and spending time with my family. Also the deer park."
30/08/2014Rachel
"We had a lovely time in the three yurts, despite having the prospect of the tail end of a hurricane hitting us! The outdoor bath was amazing, and the peace and quiet wonderful. There was a real effort to make each camp feel very secluded."
08/08/2014Michael
"Absolutely beautiful! Very comfortable, peaceful and lots of fun. I will be going again!"
09/06/2014Deborah
"Fantastic holiday - even though it rained all week, we all really enjoyed the stay. The owners were extremely friendly, and the camp has everything it could need - a great experience. We had four young children, who all had a fantastic time exploring the camp, they were never bored."

Thank you!

Thank you!

We had the most wonderful time. Granted, the weather was definitely on our side but the situation and accommodation were equally satisfying. Great attention to detail, total seclusion and a very warm welcome.

It was a magical weekend. Andy couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The yurts had been improved since our last stay and the extra touches were thoughtful and much appreciated it. The set-up is amazing – the warm, cosy beds, the outdoor shower and the bath beneath the stars.

"Enjoyed the isolation, the peace and quiet and spending time with my family. Also the deer park."

"We had a lovely time in the three yurts, despite having the prospect of the tail end of a hurricane hitting us! The outdoor bath was amazing, and the peace and quiet wonderful. There was a real effort to make each camp feel very secluded."

"Fantastic holiday - even though it rained all week, we all really enjoyed the stay. The owners were extremely friendly, and the camp has everything it could need - a great experience. We had four young children, who all had a fantastic time exploring the camp, they were never bored."

We had such a fantastic time at Withy Bed Camp. We were there to celebrate my 40th birthday with a few friends. Everything was so well organised and comfortable. We were unlucky with the weather with quite a lot of rain, but still had such a good weekend.
