Overview
Your adventure begins with the farm buggy greeting you to take your bags through the hay field and straight to the door. The cosy eco-hut is powered by a mini solar-power station and almost everything inside is locally made from the wool insulation in the walls to the woolly sheep-print curtains. The private decking is all yours, complete with a shelter to protect you from the elements, a covered kitchen, outdoor shower, a fire-pit and a stunning view. A local breakfast basket can be provided, including delicious home-made butter, jam and compote.
Explore the 20-acre farm - meet the sheep, chickens and turkeys, and perhaps even the odd peregrine falcon or stoat. There are a number of circular footpaths around the farm taking you to local villages and pubs. Very little noise beyond that of nature, fantastically clear skies and lack of light pollution make for a peaceful walk day or night.
Scorlinch Shepherd's Hut is available from the start of April to the end of October. The hut is in a field off the grid on a farm with great eco credentials. Additionally, whatever the weather, guests can access the facilities in the converted Milking Parlour in the farmyard. This is a great space in the colder months including an indoor shower, plumbed toilet and a kitchenette with mains power. For an additional charge you can use the private spa, including sauna, hot tub and spa pool. They aren't included in the price because if you don't use them, you're not paying for them.

Most Sat Navs will get you close but you need the instructions for the last part of the journey in the village otherwise you might not find us!
From M5 Southbound
Sat Nav will probably give you the right route to the village from Junction 28 on the M5 which is about 6 miles away:
- Take J28 and turn right off the junction and follow signs to Cullompton
- You will go towards the town centre, past Tescos on your left,
- You reach a T junction with traffic lights, turn left marked for town centre
- Follow this road through all the shops, past Aldi, and keep going until you get to a roundabout
- At the roundabout take the first exit on the left (probably marked Broadclyst)
- Follow this road for about a mile - you will past over the M5
- After about a mile there is a pub call the Merry Harriers on your left - with a bull statue outside (!) turn left here, marked Clyst Hydon
- The roads start to get narrower. You follow this road for about 2.5 miles - you just keep on it towards Clyst Hydon.
- After about 2.5 miles you will get to a large bend to the left with a turning to the right. The right turning indicates Clyst St Lawrence and the Five Bells Pub - turn right here
- Follow signs to the pub which you will drive past on your right
- Follow that very windy road (with passing places for when you meet vehicles) for about 1.3 miles. Just keep following it for Clyst St Lawrence
- When you reach the T junction at the end of the road turn left down the hill.
- You are now entering Clyst St Lawrence. You go past the church on your right, over the river on the bridge and keep going for about 200 yards
- Just when you think you are nearly out the village you will see a turning on your left, it says Mount Pleasant Farm, No parking and a rather invisible sign saying Scorlinch Farm.
- Turn down there and keep going down the track until you can go no further - we are the green farm house and you drive straight through the gate and park up!
From A303 Westbound
Sat Nav does not always get the route right
(Note the A303 becomes the A30 near Honiton)
- You are aiming to come off the A303/A30 after Honiton
- Take the exit marked Ottery St Mary and with the tourist sign for Escot
- Follow the directions to Ottery St Mary. You have to pass Escot to get to us - so it is a good barometer and follow those signs
- At Fairmile you will turn right to Escot and there will also be signs to Talaton
- Pass Escot on your right and keep going towards to Talaton
- Go through Talaton over railway and keep following the road
- You stay on that road for about another half mile
- When you see a large White House set amongst parkland, the road will bend round to the right
- Soon after there is a turning to the left marked Clyst St Lawrence and Westwood. Take this turning
- Go about 1 mile down this road which is quite windy
- You will see the Clyst St Lawrence sign. We are the first turning on the right as you enter the village. The turning says Mount Pleasant Farm, No parking and a rather invisible sign saying Scorlinch Farm
- Turn down there and keep going down the track until you can go no further - we are the green farm house and you drive straight through the gate and park up!

Meet Hannah & David
Hannah & David bought Scorlinch in 2011 knowing they were taking on a significant project and also a career change: David becoming a full-time farmer and Hannah handling much of the planning and administration. When they arrived, the farmhouse and farm were derelict and two years of rebuilding had to happen before moving into the house. With that completed in 2013, they turned their hands to the land. They are gradually transforming the outbuildings into a liveable space. They now have a pedigree Poll Dorset flock of sheep and a thriving turkey and egg business. In 2018, they launched the amazing converted milking parlour with a swim spa, hot tub and steam room/sauna, which also provided the opportunity for great wet weather plans for guests.
Wildlife & the Environment
David and Hannah are committed to a carbon neutral set up and have tried to ensure the least environmental impact from their farm, creating a place where nature can thrive. They are surrounded by organically farmed land. The house runs off biomass for heating, solar for much of its electricity and its water system is off the water grid. There is very little light pollution at Scorlinch, so the stars are fantastic on a clear night and the wildlife is amazing: at night you see bats and if you are lucky then you might see the owls. There is also very little noise beyond that of nature. There is an abundance of flora and fauna, and also some less common sightings: Peregrine falcons, deer, foxes, badgers and stoats to name a few. The willow they have planted and the tidying up of hedgerows means they are attracting a good number of insects and you can spot some beautiful butterflies at certain times of year.

We wanted somewhere quiet and out of the way which is exactly what we got. The hut and its location are so tranquil and the hosts were great.
26/07/2024Suzanne
Just so peaceful and relaxing, we absolutely loved everything. Our hosts were just so fantastic and helpful and just made the whole experience so much pleasurable. We shall come again.
27/10/2023Michael
I had a brief, two night solo stay here at the end of October. It was exactly what I needed. I left feeling rejuvenated and serene. The setting is idyllic and the shepherds hit and facilities are amazing. There is great attention to detail. I enjoyed sitting out on the deck reading, cooking in the kitchen, and using the outdoor shower. Really enjoyed having access to the hot tub and sauna in the sauna (especially when it was raining). Host David was helpful and welcoming, and really gave me space and privacy too. Loved my stay. I would certainly return.
24/10/2023Michael
Wonderfull retreat. Great hospitality . The venue was the perfect location with enough shelter and opportunity to really view the stars too! We had all we needed and the hut was well equipped with refreshments, extra blankets and games and firewood; though we didnt need a woodburner as it was so warm. Its just a short drive to some stunning coastline and pretty little seaside towns. The spa facilities were really relaxing and very good value for money
12/10/2023Sarah
Fell in love with this place instantly!
29/09/2023Alana
We really enjoyed our weekend break and the accommodation suited us perfectly and plenty of space for our dogs. The indoor facilities in the old milking parlour were really helpful as it turned out to be very wet weather!
15/09/2023Jennie
We had the most fantastic stay at Scorlinch Farm. From the initial check everything was great. David kindly took our bags overvto the shepherd hut and showed us around. The shepherd hut itself was very cosy with a comfortable bed. The outdoor kitchen and facilities 20m or so away provided everything we needed and the outdoor shower was a great addition. To be able to appreciate and enjoy the scenery and peace and quiet from the covered decking area was wonderful. We would definitely consider returning next time we are in the area. Thank you
26/08/2023Robert
A peaceful 4 night break for my birthday. Incredibly relaxing and restful. A perfect introduction to glamping for my husband who hates the idea of camping and compost loos! We had everything we needed plus lots of extra thoughtful touches. We will be returning and recommending to friends and family :) And yes hubby did try the loo and outdoor shower with a view!
08/06/2023Tania
IT was wonderful! I can honestly say that both of us said it was the perfect weekend. Hannah and David made us feel very welcome and the whole experience was so relaxing - exactly what we needed.
02/06/2023Sue
We had such a great time staying on David and Hannah's farm! The shepherd's hut and cooking/dining areas have a lovely view overlooking the surrounding countryside and it is an amazing spot to sit around the fire and watch the sunset. We were very comfortable in the shepherd's hut and the bed is particularly comfortable. The outdoor heated shower is a great addition to the setup and makes it unnecessary to leave, unless you want to use the hot tub (also great) or walk to the local pub.

The Shepard's hut was sat on top of a hill between two oaks with stunning views. The hut itself was clean and cosy and all of the facilities nearby were to a high standard and had everything we could need. The owner was extremely helpful and made sure we had all the information required. We also had exclusive access of the pool, hot tub and sauna which was an added bonus and made it a very luxurious stay - would definitely return ☺️

The shepherds hut is a cosy, place to stay. With its simplicity presenting the magnificent presence of two amazing oaks and lush views of rolling hills. Staying here was easy.

Such a lovely place to stay. Lovely views, the shepherd hut was very comfortable and the spa in the milking parlour was very relaxing. The hosts were brilliant and friendly. Lovely farm dogs aswell.
28/10/2022Sara
Enjoyed the stay in the shepherds hut and the outside covered area for sitting out plus the basic kitchen and toilet nearby; the short walk to the converted milking parlour provide a more luxurious facility with shower, toilet and kitchen plus the bonus of paying extra for use of the wonderful spa and sauna

We had the best time at Scorlinch Farm. David and Hannah have done a fantastic job of the accommodation and facilities. It’s a truly beautiful location. We would absolutely love to go back.
10/06/2022Kate
Wonderful! We had a blissfully relaxed and comfortable stay at Scorlinch in the shepherds hut. It was cosy and clean and very warm even without the wood burner lit! We cooked outside, lounged in the sun, and when the wind picked up or the clouds drew in, we retired into the handy spa and hot tub in the milking parlour.
21/04/2022Glenn
Scolinch was just what we needed, a retreat from life with stunning views and comfort. We love camping but this is luxury and we loved it
16/04/2022Abigail
From start to finish our stay was relaxing, stress free and over and above what we expected. A convenient break away was made even more enjoyable by the small but very significant details. Considerate details like the breakfast basket and the necessary kitchen bits along with lavish spa and pool amenities made it feel like a real holiday retreat despite being so easily accessible for any city connections. Once here there were many available trails to walk and explore while enjoying the shepherds hut tranquil surroundings.

Met by our host David on arrival and he showed us around so we could get settled very quickly . Our Breakfast basket was eating for us with the chilled items already in the fridge. The shepherds hut is fantastic , warm and comfortable. The milking parlour with hot tub , training pool and sauna is an amazing space that also contains your kitchen , shower and toilet at the far end . Amazing scenery and veiws from the farm , nice pubs an easy walk with good food and drink. Hannah and David also gladly welcome your dog's too . Plenty of information provided by our hosts on things to do , places to visit ,where to eat and where to by produce to cook for yourself . I found this a most relaxing location as you have exclusive use of all facilities . Hannah and David are just across the farm yard and make themselves available to answer any questions and are there if you have any problems . The quality of food in the breakfast basket was second to none , delicious bacon eggs from the farm , local dairy products a fantastic yoghurt with fruit compot and the home baked bread could not have fresher , it was still warm from the oven. Amazing places and Hannah and David Brilliant friendly hosts

Everything was absolutely perfect and as described the posting. David and Hannah were so very accommodating and gave us great tips for local walks and pubs.
17/12/2021Chris
A really magical two night stay. Felt secluded and romantic, and a great away from the kids. At one with nature but also with the added bonus of the Milking Parlour, which felt very decedent and lavish. The hosts were also extremely accommodating, as our car broke down on the way. They went out of their way to make sure we got there and had our holiday still. We were then without a car but this made it all the better that we couldn't go anywhere!
31/10/2021Erika
Absolutely super spot for the lovey cosy Shepherds Hut. David, the host met us on arrival and explained everything very clearly, before taking our luggage up to the hut for us. Everything has been thought of to make your stay as comfortable as possible and the bed is just the most comfortable we have ever slept in. In addition, you can access a fabulous converted milking parlour for a hot shower. In this building, there is also a sauna/exercise pool/hot tub if you chose to take this option out. All very well done. Super peaceful area and you are a very short drive to a couple of nearby pubs, (you could walk to one) which offer great food. The Thirsty Farmer is also dog friendly. Exmouth, Exeter and all manner of places are close by and the area is a must for walkers. Just the best place to recharge your batteries.

We had a lovely stay at Scorlinch Shepard’s hut. It is set in a beautiful, peaceful location, you are surrounded by glorious views, fields and sheep - and the hut is wonderful. A really comfortable bed and every little detail is thought about. David gave us a warm welcome and he was around on the farm during our week, he really was a pleasure to talk to and he went out of his way to make sure we knew everything we needed to on arrival. Hannah assisted us before we arrived via email and she was lovely too. The Milking Parlour spa is brilliant and so relaxing, and the breakfast baskets you can order is full of good quality products and some homemade treats. We loved our stay and would highly recommend staying to others.

Had a lovely stay at the Scorlinch Farm… everything exceeded the expectation. Beautiful view, lots of things to do, great food! The hosts are very nice and friendly and thought of in detail every bit of our stay. Just don’t forget to bring your wellies and you’ll be fine
01/10/2021Bianca
We stayed at scorlinch farm for 3 days .. it was beautiful setting .. well thought out .. all we needed was there .. the milking parlour was a absolute joy .. we enjoyed this every eve .. our dog loved it too! And made friends with the owners dogs .. we love animals.. and really enjoyed the sheep birds and turkeys .. it's out there in the middle of no where but we loved that .. we're planning next year already!
12/09/2021Flo
We honestly had the best time! It was the perfect little escape from reality for a while and we only wish we stayed longer. Although you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere with gorgeous views, you still have all the amenities and Hannah and David have honestly thought of everything. They were so welcoming and friendly. Our black Lab puppy Wilf had the time of his life. Lots of walks, and places to visit only a short drive away.
09/09/2021Lizzie
Really perfect in every way, the hut had everything we needed for a 3 night stay and surpassed expectations.
26/08/2021Annabel
We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the eco and cosy Shepherd Hut. The hosts were friendly and polite and really made us feel welcome. It was very peaceful and there were some amazing views.
09/08/2021Jessica
We were looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday away from the crowds, and that's exactly what we got.
04/08/2021Oli
A beautiful place to stay overlooking the rolling countryside. We wanted a place to relax and this was perfect!
24/07/2021Elizabeth
We absolutely loved the whole experience which has filled us with lasting happiness from whole stay, we had the perfect hosts and excellent facilities. Just amazed by the whole peaceful and relaxing experience. Lovely and clean and with everything you need. All of the food was locally sourced, milk from the diary farm down the road that tasted amazing, eggs from their own chickens that were incredible and everything else, Apricot Jam and Bread made by our hosts that was so beautiful. Not sure what made the stay so beautiful, fantastic weather, excellent food, long and relaxing evenings just taking in the views, using the Spa facilities and the comfortable night in the Shephard Hut, we are not sure but we loved it and will come again. We tried the local "Five Bells Inn" as recommended, well worth going to. If I had to be negative it would be having to share this review with everyone, its just so nice.
16/07/2021Michael
The minute I saw this location I knew it was the one for us in the quiet Devon hills with just the sheep as company a beautiful converted milking parlor into a spa and a beautiful shepherds hut
12/07/2021Seona
It was my first stay in a Shepard’s Hut and my partner was more of a veteran. But what was apparent was that Scorlinch Farm pulled out all the stops and we were blown away at how amazing it was. From arrival with a fantastic tour by David our host to, the serenity, views and the coziness but spacious feel of the Shepard’s Hut. It truly was such a fantastic experience. We loved every minute. The attention to detail was amazing, and the well kept milking parlour is something not to be missed. Every single thing you may think you might need is already been thought of. Soft towels, homemade butter, bread, jams and the most amazing comfortable bed! A fantastic decking to enjoy your morning coffee whilst looking over the beautiful hills of Devon. It was truly an experience I have recommended to all my family and friends.
24/06/2021Sarah
We had a very relaxing stay at Scorlinch, enjoying the wonderful countryside of Devon and the sites lovely walks around the farm. Great for dog walking, but relaxing at the shepherds hut was so nice too to get away from everything. Despite weather not being full wall to wall sunshine access to the milking parlour with jacuzzi, pool and sauna was perfect.
21/06/2021Kathryn
We had the most amazing stay this place is like a little piece of heaven. We were met on arrival our bags were taken upto the shepherd hut it had literally everything you need. The View is amazing We decided to walk to a oval pub in the evening along the public footpath with an ace laminated map provided by David. We visited the Blacksmith Arms and for anyone who is vegetarian or even enjoys vegetarian food this is the place to go amazing food and everyone in the pub made us so welcome. We ordered a breakfast basket with eggs from the farm local bacon homemade bread, butter and jam totally recommend this. We used the milking parlour with the hot tub and had a fantastic afternoon just chilling out I there. In the evening with lit the fire and cooked on the bbq which had everything provided that we needed. We can't wait to return.
18/06/2021Jennifer
We stayed for 3 nights in June. The bed is really comfortable with quality bedding. We were fortunate with the weather being hot and sunny so really chilled out in the outdoors. Views across the hills are beautiful, some good walks right on the door step and hot tub/spa facilities were excellent. We chose this property because of the additional facilities just in case the weather hadn’t been kind but as it was we didn’t use them as much as we anticipated. There were loungers outside the hut, a firepit/bbq and outdoor kitchen which we utilised. Overall had a great stay and would highly recommend.
11/06/2021Rachael
The most wonderful stay. Came away feeling completely stress free and so relaxed. Perfect location, stunning views. The Only noise you could hear were the wonderful sheep and birds. David and Hannah were so welcoming. Facilitates were 10/10, with the added bonus of the sauna, pool and hot tub. Not to mention the most delicious breakfast hamper!! We would come back here every month, if we could!!
07/06/2021Louise
Just what we needed, great hosts and a lovely location. Local area is also great for walks with the dog.
20/05/2021Peter
We had a great stay at Scorlinch Farm, although it was very rainy having the use of the milking parlor was a brilliant addition. We were lucky to have darts farm so close that had a brilliant covered outdoor area so even though the weather was bad we was still able to get out and enjoy lunch and afternoon tea in the dry despite covid restrictions. We deffiantly came away well rested in the amazing comfy bed !
12/05/2021Sophie
Absolutely stunning so clever and comfortable with the beautiful lambs ready and waiting when you rise and shine. The milking parlour was superb such a treat and welcoming host who goes above and beyond.
09/05/2021Sarah
Had a wonderful stay at the Scorlinch Shepherd's Hut, it has everything you could possibly need or want. The Hut was beautifully furnished and very cosy. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. It was a perfect mix of living close to nature whilst also having modern amneties to keep you comfortable.
30/04/2021Venetia
Second time returning and there will be a third!
26/04/2021Leah
We had a wonderful two night stay in the shepherds hut. It was a lovely location, with great facilities. It is a quiet, relaxing farm with some enjoyable walking and pubs nearby. The shepherds hut was cosy, and the milking parlour a great added extra.
24/10/2020Thomas
The Shepherds hut at Scorlinch farm, was everything as amazing as I hoped it would be. Very beautiful secluded setting. Super friendly and helpful owners who were there for anything you needed, though left you to enjoy the isolation. The pool, hot tub and sauna were a big bonus too. All in all, it was a very special few nights in away in Devon.
22/10/2020Danny
Excellent. David and Hannah have great attention to detail and every little aspect was such high quality. The low footprint ethic feels genuine and thorough but there is no compromise on comfort and luxury. Really inspiring place.
15/10/2020Nick
We spent two nights here and everything was absolutely fantastic and made for the perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy the views and beauty of the area. The massive 'training' spa pool, hydro hot tub and sauna were the icing on the cake and great to unwind in. Facilities for showering and cooking either at the hut in the field or in the milking parlour were great and the Shepherds hut itself was cosy and the bedding was lovely and soft. Would also recommend getting the breakfast basket with fresh local produce which lasted us for two mornings. Not much electricity at the hut but that didn't bother us - that's why we chose a place like this to disconnect and enjoy. For those who do like to be connected, suggest taking a charged battery pack for your phone if you need. Completely left to ourselves with just the lambs behind the hut for company and having a fire pit/BBQ to watch from the decking area was just lovely. Will definitely be looking to book again as was just such a great place to stay and Hannah and David had thought of everything to make our stay exactly what we wanted.
13/09/2020Kathryn
The hut itself was incredibly comfortable and in a beautiful location. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and provided everything we needed for a wonderful trip. It was the perfect balance between comfort and wilderness for us. The walk to the Five Bells pub was lovely and the pub itself was fantastic with some of the best food I've ever eaten. The Milking Parlour was very clean and having exclusive use of the facilities felt both very Covid secure and very luxurious!
11/09/2020Sophie
My partner and I came to Scorlinch farm for a little break and birthday treat. It was perfect, Hannah and David were both friendly and professional throughout our stay which made our trip extremely enjoyable and stress-free!
06/09/2020Olivia
We booked Scorlinch Shepherd’s hut to have a mini honeymoon after our lockdown wedding. We were able to enjoy the peace and quiet due to the remote area. The hosts were able to recommend places to eat and visit which we managed to do! This was helpful as we didn’t know the area. The hosts were also very friendly and laid back. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, especially if we’re in the area. Although it’s not that close to a beach, we still managed to goto the beach twice during our short stay as it was a short drive away. We thoroughly enjoyed time in the milking parlour, making food on the fire pit, and getting cosy in the comfiest bed we’ve ever slept in! The stars were also out in full view on one night so it really was a canopy of stars!
14/08/2020Claire
We absolutely loved our stay at Scorlinch Farm. We were taken aback by the gorgeous views and peaceful surroundings. David and Hannah were great hosts, very welcoming and always there if needed. We had a couple of breakfast baskets during our stay, they were full of handmade or locally sourced organic products- they were delicious, would definitely recommend! The hut itself was fantastic, the bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and we thoroughly enjoyed cooking our dinner on the outside barbecue each night. The view whilst cooking and having dinner is so lovely. We also had the luxury of the spa which included a hot tub, pool and sauna, having this to ourselves was complete luxury. We’re already working out when we are available to book another stay!
10/08/2020Eva
We loved every minute of our stay at Scorlinch Shepherd's Hut from the luxury of The Milking Parlour, to the beautifully planned out hut and kitchen area and the amazing views form the field. The hosts were most welcoming too. We spent our days exploring the Devon coast, enjoying the Parlour, reading in the hut and relaxing out on the decking enjoying the fresh air. We'd happily return any time of the year.
02/08/2020Alison
We had a lovely stay at the Shepherd’s Hut, the views were amazing, it was so peaceful and David, Hannah and family (including the dogs) were very hospitable.
27/07/2020Ellie
Was extremely relaxing and welcoming after the events of the past few months. Hosts were very friendly including the two adorable dogs. The hut and field were really secluded and quiet with an amazing view of the countryside and at night the stars were amazing. The converted Milk Parlour was of top notch quality with a squeaky clean pool and hot tub and sauna which were the best I’ve used. The surrounding area was beautiful with an amazing pub nearby taking bookings for food orders. The breakfast and bbq packs offered by the hosts were delicious and best cooked on the provided fire pit / bbq. 10/10 would visit again
20/07/2020Luke
It was amazing could not fault the host's or location
17/07/2020Ian
Our stay at Scorlinch Farm was amazing - just the kind of isolation holiday we needed after lockdown! The shepherds hut itself is beautiful, the owners have thought of everything, and the view across the fields is beautiful. We loved using the firepit for BBQs in the evening whilst enjoying the view. The facilities in the milking parlour were also amazing - we genuinely felt like we had our own private spa, highly recommend using these if you visit! It was also really nice to speak to David, the owner, about the farm - we really enjoyed joining him to collect fresh eggs for breakfast! The breakfast basket they provided was also very high quality and delicious. Overall, a fantastic place to visit - we'll definitely be back! (It's even better than it looks in the photos!)
12/07/2020Sam
Our couple night stay at scorlinch farm always so cosey and quiet considering the winter weather. Absolutely amazing facilities anyway and we paid the extra to use the spa jacuzzi, hydropool and sauna. I wish we'd booked for longer! Even though it drizzled the hut was on the hard standing right next to the milking parlour facilities so only a few steps away from toilet and shower. There was also a kitchenette which we used to cook on the gas hobs. The hut had electric and heating and the comftiest bed ever! Absolute pure bliss and I'd love to book to go back during the summer. Thankyou for a lovely break! I'd definitely recommend for a winter glamping experience!
19/02/2020Sian
We absolutely loved our stay at Scorlinch Shepherd’s hut.
30/01/2020Georgie
I surprised my husband for a two night stay at Scorlinch Shepherd’s Hut for his birthday this October. Wow what an amazing place! Both my husband and I were taken aback by the sheer beauty and tranquility of this place. The highlights have got to be ...sitting round an open fire toasting marchmellows and gazing at the starry sky, sitting in the jacuzzi with a glass of bubbly in the milking parlour (pure bliss), the coziness of the shepherds hut and eating breakfast (all delicious local produce) out on the private decking watching the sunrise. We cannot thank Hannah and David enough for a fantastic stay. We will definitely be returning in the future!
27/10/2019Laura
FIVE STARS. A phenomenal location, perched upon a hill with sheep for company. All the creature comforts for a proper Glamping occasion! We had an absolutely amazing stay and left totally chilled. The hut is amazing, the view superb and the milking parlour was the cherry on top. Definitely check out the Five Bells for Sunday Lunch!
27/09/2019Thomas
It was great. Just what we needed.
20/09/2019Cliff
We had a lovely weekend in this beautiful location, with everything we needed for our stay. Lots of attention to detail and love has gone into this place, it's really comfortable and well designed. David and Hannah are great hosts and the optional breakfast basket is delicious and full of local and sustainable goodies. There are great walks across the fields, pubs for more lovely food and interesting places to visit. The spa facilities at the farm are impressive and to have them to yourselves is a proper treat!
13/09/2019Jane
A truly wonderful place to stay! Hannah and David were fantastic hosts, always available if required but gave us space to enjoy a peaceful weekend away. The hut was amazing and very well kitted out. The bed was seriously comfy! The nearby pub was a nice walk away through the countryside and the food was excellent. And the firepit was perfect for a bbq whilst the sun was setting. The converted milking parlour with its sauna/hydropool and jacuzzi was an ideal way to relax and unwind. The breakfast hamper was great also! All in all, couldn’t recommend a stay at scorlinch more! I’m sure we’ll be back!
30/08/2019Jack
A wonderful stay in a unique setting. Recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful, relaxing time. The breakfast basket, milking parkour and firepit/BBQ were great. Thank you.
17/08/2019Rachel
We had lovely stay at Scorlinch Shepherd's Hut, the location has beautiful views and is completely private. Upon arrival David was very helpful takung our bags to the shepherds hut showing us around and how everything worked. The milking parlour facilities were a real treat, just like having a private spa day. We thoughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
12/08/2019Melissa
We went for two nights , it was lovely it’s so peaceful with amazing views and great owners , will definitely go back there again.

22/06/2019Duncan
We had a wonderful time staying in the beautiful Scorlinch Shepherd's Hut. The views are spectacular and the hut stands all by itself on top of a hill. We went for beautiful walks and the Spa facilities in the milking parlour were such a treat - we never had a whole Spa to ourselves before! The breakfast baskets were full of handmade or locally sourced organic products and everything around the hut was very well thought through. We had our dog with us and I think he loved the time there as much as we did.
16/05/2019Eva
We arrived at Scorlinch on the Wednesday where we were given a fun ride in an ATV to the shepherd's hut. Everything was really lovely, they had clearly gone to a lot of effort to make us feel welcome. The first night we used the excellent facilities in the milking parlour. On the second day we had a thoroughly enjoyable nature walk to the local pub. The country side was very beautiful and the pub was very welcoming. That evening we had a BBQ and enjoyed the fantastic views from atop the hill. On our checkout day we were collected promptly and taken back to the car. We took home with us several boxes of their eggs which are extremely delicious. We will definitely return to the future.
01/05/2019Matthew
It was a beautiful place, very quiet, peaceful and has the best bed in the world. Hannah and David were very welcoming people, would definitely love to stay again.
22/04/2019Harriet
Absolutely beautiful place ! Hot tub , sauna and hydro pool amazing ! Owners were lovely and very helpful! We order the basket of food , fresh bread , fresh butter ,fresh and etc , it was perfect ! Will definitely be going back
15/02/2019ginny
Beautiful shepherds hit with every need thought of! Cosy warm and relaxing. The milking parlour next door with the hot tub and sauna was just magical!
17/01/2019Donna
Our hosts David and Hannah were wonderfully accommodating on arrival and a detailed email beforehand laid out all optional extras and ideas for our stay. The hut is cosy, full of thoughtful additions and the bed astonishingly comfortable. Again, the kitchen had everything we needed and more, although it was a shame we got caught in a northerly storm and so weren't able to fully exploit the wonderful outdoor setup with it's firepit and recliners.
05/10/2018Alastair
My partner and I had the most wonderful stay at Scorlinch. It was his birthday and we just wanted a quiet time surrounded by the beauty of nature, which is exactly what we got! The hut is warm and cosy and the kitchen area well equipped. We really enjoyed the luxury of the pool, hot tub and sauna but the peace and beauty was what really hit the spot. David was a great host and couldnt do enough for us. Our lunch in the Five Bells pub was also spot on with great staff and fabulous food. We can't wait to visit Scorlinch again.
18/09/2018Rachel
The Shepherds hut was so so perfect! Hannah and David had thought about the little touches to make you feel at home. The views were so beautiful, just rolling hills and a few sheep. You are totally out in the county and have so much space to relax. The breakfast Hamper is a must and full of yummy treats from their farm! The bed is AMAZING! The fire pit was fabulous and Louie our bed could not have had a better time. Was so wonderful - we will be back!
08/09/2018Francesca
This shepherds hut is amazing. Perfect location in the beautiful Devon countryside. The owners are so pleasant and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The setting of this hut is great and on a working farm. The milking parlour building is brand new this year and is a very nice addition to the shepherds hut - we spent the day in there lounging in the hydropool and the sauna. Also the fantastic five bells pub is a short walk away. We will be back again soon. I would recommend this experience to everyone. We will be visiting again
31/08/2018henry
We had a fantastic three day couples retreat at Scorlinch Farm. We had a lovely walk north of the property, which is situated on a small hill with 360 degree views of a picturesque countryside. It's nicley sheltered under the two giant Oak trees. The hut was very comfortable and really nicely decorated. The hosts were very accomodating, leaving maps and local advice in the hut for us. Cooking of the fire pit and watching the stars come out was a particular highlight!
16/08/2018David
What we wished for was to be left alone, secluded, outdoors with beautiful views in nature... and Scorlinch Shepherd's hut certainly delivered. A romantic spot where everything has been carefully designed and considered to allow you to live an alfresco existence. Whether rain or shine you can be preparing, cooking and using toilet facilities outside. They really have thought of everything to ensure there is comfort whilst maximizing the time you get to spend outdoors.
30/07/2018Shankari
It was exactly what we expected, the pictures were what they seemed from the hut to the view. Wonderful.
13/07/2018Rebecca
What an amazing 2 nights! The shepherds hut was so relaxing and calming, we left fully recharged. We were told the mattress would be the best we'd ever slept on and it was. David was a brilliant host and made sure we had everything we needed and more (including marshmallows for the fire pit). The milking parlour is a must to totally unwind and escape real life- the hydropool is the best. The location was stunning and the hut placed under the trees was handy considering the heat wave but, the hut stayed really cool. Highly recommend this stay for anyone wanting to escape and live off grid! Finally, who wouldn't want sheep as their neighbours :)
28/06/2018Hannah
We had a brilliant, one-night stay at the lovely Shepherd's Hut at Scorlinch Farm. The owners have been really helpful and communicative before we arrived and we were picked up upon arrival and shown our accommodation and facilities in a friendly and comprehensive manner - as well as getting to meet Ernie the dog! The Shepherd's Hut itself was beautiful and cosy, with one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in. The outside space was also great with a decked seating area and firepit, as well as a useful kitchen area and compost toilet. The real highlight was the fantastic views across the Devon countryside, aided further by brilliantly sunny weather. The Milking Parlour was a short walk away and we made use of the luxurious hot tub, endurance pool and sauna. A really great romantic break.
24/06/2018Tom
Our smiles grew wide as we were shown around the farm and hut and wider still as we glanced at each other and pictured our weekend there. Scorlinch Farm met those expectations and surpassed them. The hut and facilities reflect the love and hard work that has gone into them. We both enjoyed reaping the rewards.
15/06/2018Guy
We had a very relaxing and special stay at the shepherd's hut.
10/06/2018Andrew
We had a great time - really nice place in a very peaceful location in the country side. Perfect for relaxation and/or romance. Great facilities, very cosy and amazing hosts Hannah and David.
25/05/2018Lauren
I spent three perfect nights in this cosy, well equipped but secluded shepherds hut. With panoramic views of the beautiful Devon landscape, nestled under two majestic oak trees . A walk to a thatched pub with an excellent restaurant, fabulous hosts, the run of the farm and a milking parlour transformed into a spacious and light spa! Heaven!
22/05/2018Sue
It was wonderful! Gorgeous site and lovely, helpful hosts. We had the most relaxing break either of us can remember - as well as just being such good fun!
18/05/2018Fiona
We had a wonderful time at Scorlinch Farm, it was everything we had expected and more. An incredible view, privacy, wildlife, walks, pubs, marshmallows on the fire etc.. and the shepherds hut was very comfortable and cosy! We stayed for 5 days and we had a mix of weather. In our time we visited the Coast, Dartmoor, walked in the local wood and went to 2 incredible farm shops. We left very relaxed not wanted to come back to London!
14/09/2017Philippa
Wonderful, relaxing and romantic!! It was just idyllic to be with my partner and have no interruptions for the time we had there!
09/09/2017Elle
We had an amazing stay in this beautiful, peaceful shepherd's hut. David was very friendly and informative about the site and how everything worked. It was a lovely touch to be driven to and from the hut, then to be left alone in such a beautiful setting. The hut was cosy and warm. We enjoyed outdoor cooking and the experience of a composting loo. There are fantastic walks around the farm and the whole experience was one of pure relaxation.
01/09/2017katrina
Had a lovely relaxing August weekend at the shepherd's hut. The weather was lovely and had a nice walk to the Five Bells pub, and we could see the hut over the fields on the hill. The hut was very luxurious and had everything you needed. All quality and locally sourced products. If you were booking a stay here, all you really needed was clean clothes and toiletries.....plus your food and beveridge of choice

What a beautiful, peaceful location. Perfect for our anniversary celebrations.
24/07/2017Lauren
Just what I was hoping for! Lift from station from David, shown around and left in peace. Gorgeous breakfast hamper and some Pipers Farm sausages. Enjoyed the amazing sound of silence and the sheep and the birds and the insects and the rain and the wind! (Nature!) Ate simply lived simply Had to leave too soon!

My daughter and I wanted some peace and quiet with total isolation from other people and this is exactly what we got , perfect
10/07/2017Wendy
Such a beautiful peaceful spot with the warmest of welcomes from David and Hannah. The hut was immaculate and given the high temperatures we had it was lovely and cool. The facilities on offer would rival those in many three star establishments and the bed was extremely comfortable. Lots of little touches made this such a comfortable stay and the secluded location was perfect for us and our dog who enjoyed having a whole field to himself. The location is perfect, you feel really isolated with just the tractors, foxes and a few houses in the distance, but in reality it is close enough to visit the cost and many places of interest.

We had a wonderful weekend at Scorlinch. After a tricky start (bouts of flu, courses of antibiotics and a possible need to cancel), a re-jig of who went on the weekend meant we were able to take the break. I went with my 2 children and it couldn't have gone better. Hannah & David were wonderful hosts and looked after us really well. They made sure we knew how everything worked, where everything was and gave us tips on places to visit for days out. The accommodation itself was really beautiful, the facilities offered a perfect balance of feeling like you were getting back to nature without the full graft of roughing it. The setting was, of course, idyllic. I don't think you could have asked for more in terms of setting, facilities, comfort and welcome and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to my friends and family. We needed a break and a weekend at Scorlinch was just what the doctor ordered (well, that and the 2 weeks of little green pills!)

A much needed serene and peaceful escape to the country in this beautiful shepherds hut! David and Hannah have really created the best type of 'glamping'. Me and a friend loved our two night stay - highlights included sitting out admiring the spectacular view with a glass of wine and a roaring fire, the local pub which is fantastic, and meeting some of David and Hannah's newly born lambs on the farm, we'll definitely be back.
21/04/2017Sophie
The location was fantastic and the Shepherd's Hut was absolutely perfect. Not only the hut itself but the gazebo, kitchen and toilet block - just everything we could have needed and more. Sitting under the stars with the fire pit blazing having cooked a BBQ dinner was perfection!
15/04/2017Natasha
It was stunning! Such a remote beautiful setting! Even it being towards the end of Octobers didn't ruin our stay.... lively little touches! Such a peaceful stay!

Idyllic, peaceful location. Lovely hut which was welcoming and warm. Very comfy bed and great breakfast. Walking distance to a cracking pub.
21/10/2016Nicola
We had a blissful 2 days in a beautiful location. The hut was very pretty and all the other amenities were really well thought out and had all we needed, the info before the trip meant we knew all we needed before we arrived. Our hosts were lovely, the perfect balance of being helpful and available yet leaving us alone to enjoy our stay. We would definitely recommend (and have already) to others but be mindful that the bed is up just a few steps so may be harder to enter and exit for those with limited mobility, otherwise the hut and amenities are all easy to access for most. If you want a beautiful view, to sit and light a fire in total seclusion and enjoy the wildlife and countryside from a comfy chair then I thoroughly recommend this site. And what's more we slept really well due to the comfort of the bed and all that fresh air! Thank you to our hosts Hannah and David X
24/09/2016Kathrin
it was a fantastic place to stay so secluded and relaxing. the bed was probabl the most comfy thing i have ever slept on.
13/09/2016Aaron
We had the best time at Scorlinch Farm. The shepherds hut and facilities have everything you need for an utterly peaceful stay, and nothing more! The surrounding area is lovely, and the hut is beautiful and thoughtful inside.
26/08/2016Jessica
We had a 2 night stay mid August for a couple of days away following getting married in May this year. We chose this place after whittling it down from about 10 other options, because it looked so peacful and welcoming, as well as stunningly picturesque. It not only lived up to, but exceeded, all of these expectations and we had the best holiday we've ever had.
15/08/2016Emma Victoria
5*luxury accommodation in the most romantic, idyllic setting. A tranquil haven to rejuvenate and unwind. Loved the lambs, our friendly neighbours, and the hut was everything and more than we expected. Helpful, happy hosts ensured a most excellent stay. Scrumptious breakfast basket and all mod cons, should one need it, for us the stunning simplicity of it all was all we needed to appreciate a perfect long weekend.
04/08/2016Timothy
Lovely location and view. Hannah and David very helpful, Hut in first class condition, clean and comfortable. Highly recommended
22/07/2016lizzie
We had a wonderful stay in perfect peace and quiet - just what we needed! The breakfast box is a lovely touch and the jams were the nicest we have ever had. Greeted by the sheep every morning as we ate under the gazebo it is truly beautiful... Hannah and David were incredibly hospitable and helpful..Can't wait to come back!
01/07/2016Maddie
It was one of the most relaxing weekend breaks we've had. The peaceful scenery was all we needed .
24/06/2016Georgiana
We LOVED our stay here! Hannah and David were really accommodating and had thought of everything, even excusing us the hike up to the hut by ferrying us in their Kubota! The hut was so cosy with the wool insulation and we didn't even need to light the burner despite it being a chilly evening. The breakfast hamper was fantastic and would have easily fed us for three breakfasts and our trip to the local Sawday's pub, The Five Bells' was great - their food was delicious!

Our stay at the Sheppards hut was amazing David and Hannah could not do enough to help us they have a great set up there whoever picked that spot is a genius it’s perfect we can’t thank them enough local produce they use is amazing and there own produce in the breakfast basket was spot on we have quite a nervous dog but wasn’t a problem with work dogs or nearby animals

We wanted somewhere quiet and out of the way which is exactly what we got. The hut and its location are so tranquil and the hosts were great.

Just so peaceful and relaxing, we absolutely loved everything. Our hosts were just so fantastic and helpful and just made the whole experience so much pleasurable. We shall come again.

06/05/2023Matthew
The Shepard's hut was sat on top of a hill between two oaks with stunning views. The hut itself was clean and cosy and all of the facilities nearby were to a high standard and had everything we could need. The owner was extremely helpful and made sure we had all the information required. We also had exclusive access of the pool, hot tub and sauna which was an added bonus and made it a very luxurious stay - would definitely return ☺️
29/04/2023Jo
The shepherds hut is a cosy, place to stay. With its simplicity presenting the magnificent presence of two amazing oaks and lush views of rolling hills. Staying here was easy.
21/04/2023Colin
Such a lovely place to stay. Lovely views, the shepherd hut was very comfortable and the spa in the milking parlour was very relaxing. The hosts were brilliant and friendly. Lovely farm dogs aswell.
28/10/2022Sara
Enjoyed the stay in the shepherds hut and the outside covered area for sitting out plus the basic kitchen and toilet nearby; the short walk to the converted milking parlour provide a more luxurious facility with shower, toilet and kitchen plus the bonus of paying extra for use of the wonderful spa and sauna
03/09/2022Graham

A wonderful stay in a unique setting. Recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful, relaxing time. The breakfast basket, milking parkour and firepit/BBQ were great. Thank you.

It was a beautiful place, very quiet, peaceful and has the best bed in the world. Hannah and David were very welcoming people, would definitely love to stay again.

Beautiful shepherds hit with every need thought of! Cosy warm and relaxing. The milking parlour next door with the hot tub and sauna was just magical!

It was exactly what we expected, the pictures were what they seemed from the hut to the view. Wonderful.

We had a great time - really nice place in a very peaceful location in the country side. Perfect for relaxation and/or romance. Great facilities, very cosy and amazing hosts Hannah and David.

Wonderful, relaxing and romantic!! It was just idyllic to be with my partner and have no interruptions for the time we had there!

We had the best time at Scorlinch Farm. The shepherds hut and facilities have everything you need for an utterly peaceful stay, and nothing more! The surrounding area is lovely, and the hut is beautiful and thoughtful inside.

Lovely location and view. Hannah and David very helpful, Hut in first class condition, clean and comfortable. Highly recommended
