Overview
It’s hard to tell what you’ll get up to at Fauna Safari Tent, because there’s almost too many options. If you’re staying in on cooler days spend your hours padding around the luxurious interior, reading on the leather chesterfields by a crackling log burner. If the sun’s shining, then you might spend an afternoon in the hot tub, or by the firepit cooking dinner on the BBQ.
The entire site has been created utilising fully accessible design principles. With just two luxuriously furnished and spacious safari tents, creating a special retreat to relax and unwind and the perfect place for families and friends to reconnect. Larger groups who hire both Flora and Fauna lodges together will benefit from exclusive use of the site plus the free use of a beautiful separate dining space for 12 which has been set side within the nearby gathering barn. You’ll also find an onsite honesty shop stocked with staple provisions, so you’ll want for nothing throughout your stay.
Fauna’s on a small working farm just outside the Exmoor National Park, so adventure’s only ever a short drive away. Take a quick trip out to the seaside to discover a world of coastal towns and fishing villages, or even just head west to find the ancient woodlands and moorland of the national park. With so much nearby, your hardest choice will be where to start!
If you're travelling with friends or Fauna isn't available for your dates, try Flora, Daniel & Rachel’s other lovely space.

Meet Daniel and Rachel
The farm was bought in a run down and neglected state but presented itself as the perfect opportunity to create a lifelong home.
From the start they had a clear and practical vision of how the farm should develop in an ecologically and sustainable way, and as such have carried out a sensitive restoration to their main farmhouse using traditional methods and materials and utilising the skills of local tradesmen. Minimising visual impact to the farm and its locality has remained a key priority, taking extra care to sustain and where possible enhance the distinctive qualities of the surrounding landscape.
Having developed the main farmstead, they then moved on to creating a small intimate high end safari tent glamping site with a clear focus on inclusivity. As such they have now been awarded gold star standard from Visit England with an M3 accessibility rating and believe that they are the first safari tent site in the UK to achieve this dual accolade.
Wildlife and Environment
Wildlife interests remain central to the development of the farm and Daniel and Rachel have worked closely with the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group who have helped them understand and identify the environmental value of their land. As a result they have now planted Little Haddon Wood consisting of 1700 native broadleaved trees. This will not only provide them with a sustainable source of wood fuel, but also supports the maintenance of an established wetland which is noted to have a role in local flood defence and is of high ecological value in supporting 'flora and fauna' that could not thrive in other conditions - hence the name of the safari tents.
They are a working farm with cows sheep pigs goats geese dogs and a tortoise. Horses are kept in the opposite field and there is an abundance of wildlife such as owls, pheasant, badgers, foxes, birds of prey, roe deer, red deer and squirrels.

We had a lovely time at Fauna, it truly was luxury. Lovely hosts who had helpful suggestions about things to do nearby. Hot tub was a dream as was the woodburner. The electric blankets took the chill away from the early mornings.

Wonderful stay in a beautiful part of the world. Lovely honesty shop, and the tents are packed with thoughtul touches that made our stay magical. Meeting the animals with Dan was the icing on the cake.

The fauna accomodation was immaculate, every detail really well thought out and we couldn't fault anything. Dan was super friendly and everything felt very relaxed. We weren't expecting such high spek interiors in a tent!
29/07/2024Rebecca
We booked the entire site for our family stay, 5 adults and 2 young children. Flora and Fauna were pretty identical, plenty of space, comfy beds and lots of utensils for cooking. The barn was great to use for a big family meal which we cooked and ate in situ. Lots of safe space for the kiddies to run about in and Dan was super friendly. The kids loved it when he brought Pablo the pig and the goats to see them!

Absolutely incredible birthday weekend! The accommodation was truly unique and the attention to detail was unmatched. The owners were extremely helpful, always on hand for advice.

We had a holiday, a real one. Only booked three days and fully expected to have to come home early, but it was great. This place was a game changer for us. It was my 60th and the best birthday ever. It was luxury and adapted without reminding you of disability at every turn. So many hidden aids that made a 3 night stay absolutely brilliant and we took our dog. The bed was huge and electric so Daves legs being raised at night meant the swelling went down. The work top is hydraulic so he could wash up YaY !!! wet room, two toilets, access was great Dave even walked our dog round the field with no lead, so good to watch them both ..... from the hot tub , back home but still buzzing, the couple who run this are so helpful and its so much more than a holiday place, its was a life and dream restorer. Even our dog Loki was treated wonderfully, with treats and blanket etc. Would absolutely recommend this accommodation.

WOW!!! What an incredible place! The tent was beautiful, perfectly equipped with everything that you could need. Located in a lovely quiet spot. The on-site honesty farm shop was a great touch and really well stocked. Dan was a great host! Beds were amazingly comfy - slept sooo well!

We had a lovely weekend in accommodation that lets you appreciate nature whilst living in luxury. The hosts are on hand for anything but needn’t be as everything is set up so well, and Dan took the time to introduce us to some of their animals which was great. The tents have amazing, even more so when we found out how sustainable the whole site is. Hot tub is another bonus! We will be back next year
