Overview
Well-established, beautifully kitted-out and in a corner of dreamy Cornwall, you're welcomed to Tree of Life with produce from the organic smallholding next door - Marie and Sylvia run a veg box business, so know their stuff. You sleep on a double bed above the cab of the lorry itself, accessed by steps that double as the (very sturdy!) cupboards. Lighting is provided by solar panels, and romance by lanterns. Cook here, in the small fitted kitchen with gas cooker and oven; in the cupboards there are all the pots, pans and utensils you could need. A short distance away (15 metres) from the horsebox is a hut with your own private compost loo and shower room. The hut also has a large sink to wash-up in, a small fridge, and a place to store coats and boots after a walk, or sandy things after a day on the beach at quaint St Agnes. If you have a ploughman's or a good Sunday roast in mind, head to the Miner's Arms in Mithian, a 10-minute walk, and enjoy Cornish real ales while you wait.
The horsebox can either be a cosy place to cuddle up by the wood burner, or an airy, sunny space: let the side door down on fine days and bring the outdoors in. Across the traditional hay meadow, there's a lovely view to the horizon - a lovely place to watch the sunrise, if you're up and about early!

Meet your hosts
Marie and Sylvia bought their traditional wooden Horsebox in 1991, turned it into a living space and travelled around in it for a couple of years before settling in the midst of nature: their wooded valley in Cornwall. The small holding is located in a beautiful area of Cornish countryside, on the edge of a wooded valley, 2 miles from the North Cornwall coast, 10 miles from the South Cornwall coast. They formed Tree of Life Organics here in 1996, of which growing their own organic vegetables was an integral and inspiring part. This grew naturally into a veg box business, supplying local homes with fresh, organically-grown local fruit and vegetables. Joining the Soil Association confirmed their commitment to organic growing, and they’ve recently added blueberries, gooseberries and apples, as well as organic meadow hay, to their produce.
Wildlife & environment
Unusually, both the horsebox and the house are off-grid, using solar electricity and reed bed filtration of waste water. It’s a wildlife paradise: trees, ponds and meadows provide natural habitats for all sorts of native flora and fauna.

Our guests say...

We had a wonderful time in the horse box! We have a very reactive doggie so the calm private garden was loverly to use. Our host was amazing and made sure we have everything we needed when we arrived. Our stay was loverly to sit in front of the fireplace and chillax. She recommended brilliant places to visit in the local area in which we really appreciated. The local area was easy to drive to from the horse box making exploring really easy.

Total tranquility. What a gorgeous little bolt hole to hide away surrounded in nature. Marie and Silvie are such lovely hosts and made our holiday just perfect.
23/06/2023Sam
Marie was so welcoming, the horse box was spotlessly clean, the site is so well thought out. The welcome cakes are such a generous gift too. Even though we started to get cooler weather the wood burning stove kept us really warm. A brilliant place to stay.

We had a very warm welcome from Marie who showed us around Agnes - the horsebox. Agnes was incredibly well equipped and very cosy with the comfiest bed and a woodburner. We loved being able to switch off and relax.
19/08/2022Abby
It was unusual, in Cornwall where I wanted to be. Just sounded perfect.
23/08/2021Alison
The location was perfect. Close enough to shops, the beach and restaurants but also far enough to feel completely out of the way and experience the nature of this amazing place. The whole family had a great time. The weather was beautiful.

The most beautiful & peaceful location, The horse box is really cozy and with its own private garden & showers was very relaxing. Easy to get anywhere on the north Cornish coast from this location + easy links to the south. Great local pubs and village very close by. Marie is the most amazing host and will make you feel very welcome.

We had a lovely weekend nestled away from the hustle and bustle of Cornwall in the summertime. We throughly enjoyed our stay in the horsebox, the wood burner gives it a real home away from home feel, despite the rainy weather. Marie made us and our doggy feel very welcome and even went out of her way to organise a surprise for my girlfriend. Perfect place if you want to visit the beautiful beaches of Cornwall in summer but still be able to take yourself away from the flocks of tourists. We will definitely be back again.

The horsebox is a fantastic place to stay. Marie was welcoming right from the start making us feel very relaxed. The accommodation was impeccably clean, with a great amount of resources for cooking, cleaning etc., and the Cornish cider was a really nice touch! Washing facilities were great, with a lovely warm shower. The location is fantastic, as others have mentioned it is close enough to find shops, restaurants and beaches but when you pull in for the evening it feels as if you are totally secluded, it is very peaceful.

This was our second stay at Agnes in less than a year. As before, it was perfect! Marie & Sylvia have created an oasis, in which you leave your life behind and embrace peace & tranquility. Their kindness and generosity make this a very special place. Book it; you’ll thank me for it!

The stay was excellent. The glamping site is designed and is in a nice location. It felt so calm and relaxing listening to the birds and the nature.

This was our first time using canopy and stars and I'm not sure any other experience could really top this. Marie greeted us from the beginning to instantly make us feel at home - whilst leaving us to enjoy the horsebox and surrounding nature in complete privacy and trust. The horsebox and surrounding areas were immaculately clean and facilities perfect for what we needed. We loved using the eco stove for dinners in the evening and her tip for the bridle path walk to the local pub was a delight to walk! I cant recommend this place enough - so much so we've tried to book again in August however this place seems to be fully booked for the rest of the year!

Agnes is perfect in every way! The tranquility and comfort is testament to the owners’ hard work over many years and the space they’ve created is utterly magical. We were very lucky with the weather and it was perfect all weekend, but even in the rain, I imagine Agnes would be a little oasis of warmth and comfort. Thank you, for letting us enjoy a little slice of heaven!
10/07/2020Claire
We had a lovely 4 night stay here. Everything was lovely, Marie was an excellent host and we had everything we needed. The veg on site was delicious! Oh and the jams! 10/10 stay. We would definitely go back.

We had a wonderful relaxing time. We really loved the peace and quiet, hearing the owls calling to each other at night, and being outside in the stillness of the morning as the world woke around us. We were able to get to the coast really easily, it was possible to walk there but we drove so we could walk further along the coast path, but we did walk to the local pub which was really welcoming. Marie mad us feel really welcome, introduced us to her dogs, showed us around their site answering all our gardening questions and helped us get some of the lovely cakes she provided to take home for our friends. We are already wondering when we can return!

Idylic, quiet, private, cosy, immaculatley clean, owners lovely and helpful but gave us our desperately needed solitude.

The Tree of Life Horsebox is packaged transcendence. Nature literally audibly and visually speaks volumes here....The peace is deafening. A great place to stay to de-frag, re-synch, and recharge away from the rat-race. If you are intentionally looking to sever / detach / disconnect from modern day living you will get an authentic taster at the horse box. Don't be put off by the idea of an earth/composting toilet - there is no smell at all - and you will never get such a great view when you're back at home. The shower room is fabulous too. The horse box is an experience of living with nature outside in, without sacrificing modern conveniences such as; clean towels, hot running water, fridge unit, gas stove and oven, wood burner (with as many logs as you need free of charge), pots, pans, tea and coffee, cutlery, crockery, comfy bed etc. And the hosts are second to none. The location was perfect for us....On your doorstep are plentiful walks, beaches, cafes, pubs, and even the city of Truro (with a generous amount of shops). The delights of St. Ives only 30 mins away too. Dear Agnes (the horse box) - we love you !

Really lovely. Great hosts. Very clean and organised. High end glamping. Hot water! Fantastic location for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer.

Tree of life horsebox is a very special place - created with so much love and care and filled with wonder and nature. It’s a space which allows you the time to just pause for a while, which inspires you to kick your shoes off and go barefoot and just be in and observe nature. We made new discoveries & new friends there: Bob (the robin) who likes to take a dawn and dusk bath (& join us at meals), the red admiral butterfly who comes and sits in the pages of our books as we read in the evening, the bat who arrives precisely at dusk does a quick erratic ski dance overhead before he's off again, the leaf cutter bees meticulously working away, the magnificent bullfinch with his subtle, single note call but unmistakable striking colours, the tawny owl with the husky voice....it's all there! From the kindest of welcomes from owners Marie and Sylvia and the surprise box of handmade cakes, to the silence, tranquility and privacy that’s been so thoughtfully designed for a cosy rewilding experience. We chose to stay here partly to use as a base and then visit some of the Cornwall coastline unknown to us but found we didn’t want to go anywhere and just wanted to be in this little paradise.
09/07/2018Natasha
To say it was amazing would be doing this place a huge injustice. The location is excellent, and if you want to just 'get away from it all', this is your place! No wifi, no noise, and no other campers - perfect!

We had a wonderful stay at The Tree of Life Horsebox. Kind & thoughtful hosts and amazing accommodation. It was fab.
14/08/2017lisa
Idyllic. Amongst a tranquil and very private garden nestles Agnes. She was perfect, everything I had hoped for and more. Everything supplied for a relaxing holiday away from day to day stresses. Very welcoming hosts who are on hand if you need them but out of sight so you don't feel overlooked. My favourite holiday to date. So close to all that Cornwall has to offer, quaint Cornish villages, beautiful beaches and breathtaking coastal walks.

Absolutely beautiful location and accommodation. Really well laid out with everything we needed. Perfect, friendly, helpful hosts. We had a fantastic time.
17/04/2017Stefanie
An anniversary break which was truly relaxing and as 'get away from it all' as we had hoped for. Couldn't fault the horse box, the setting, the quality of the accommodation nor the welcome we received. It was all perfect and the generosity of the owners was brilliant and kind.
23/09/2016Melanie
Absolutely loved our stay, the Horsebox is just as it is described. Even the weather could not dampen our stay, we simply lit the log burner, dozed and read and recharged our batteries. We loved everything the hosts had done with this little bit of Heaven. You are in your own lovely sun (when it did come out) dappled garden among the trees, with not another person or building in sight. We loved the compost loo and kitchen areas. Every little detail is so well designed and built with love. I couldnt stop touching the wooden door handles and clothes hangers, drving my husband potty with my oohs and ahhs! The whole place is so clean and fresh and we loved cooking outdoors, showering in the cosy wash house, and using a flash light to scare each other at night on the final meander to the loo. We were given a fantastic trug of fresh vegetables, eggs and fruit from our hosts. They clearly have a love for their home and have made this a fantastic welcoming place. Got back home so rested.
02/09/2016Margaret
The tree of life horse box was just what we were looking for, tranquility, private, intimacy and such shabby chic. We went for our anniversary after a lovely C&S experience for our first anniversary. The horse box was beautifully decorated and had all the bits and pieces you need for a short break. The ladies who own the horse box were very welcoming and generous with their organic fresh fruit and vegetables.

The Tree of Life Horsebox was a truly wondrous escape. It's beautifully nestled amongst trees & foliage on the edge of a hay field, creating a sense of space whilst also maintaining peaceful, intimate surrounds. Everything has been thoughtfully pieced together, and Marie & Sylvia's attention to detail coupled with their enthusiasm & love of what they do shines through. They were friendly, welcoming hosts, very respectful of giving you privacy & space but who were on hand should you need. We thought they'd struck that balance really well. It's a place to enjoy nature, to unwind & be, to sit by candlelight & log fire and quietly contemplate..... We slept with the door open with view of the stars listening to the gentle breeze, and awoke to birdsong and sunlight filtering through the trees. Padded out barefoot, felt the cool morning dew beneath our toes and sat outside to eat a truly scrumptious breakfast made from the complimentary organic fruit & veggie box - if ever there was a zipperdee doo dah moment, this was it! It's an idyllic, romantic retreat. We highly recommend.
15/07/2016Nikki
Hosts very welcoming and friendly. Horsebox very clean and tidy with everything we needed (and things I didn't even know I would need - hot water bottle!). Very peaceful and relaxing environment. Highly recommend.
04/07/2016Clare
What a wonderful place. A slice of heaven. Peaceful, beautiful, a sanctuary away from the busy world. The horse box is so cosy and charming. I was impressed with how beautifully it is maintained and felt at home as soon as we arrived. Cant wait to visit again.
28/03/2016Tereza
We had an absolutely fantastic time away from it all in Agnes. Marie was a brilliant host, very helpful and welcoming, the basket of organic veg she gave us was lovely and very good quality. We will definitely be coming back again in future, I can't praise this place enough!
28/08/2015Nadine
We had a lovely time at the Tree of Life horsebox and organic farm. The horsebox was extremely comfortable and was wonderful for both rainy nights in by the fire, and sunny evenings cooking outside. The location was just perfect. The village of Mithian was so cute and we felt we were off the tourist track and could really truly relax. The beaches are very close by though. The icing on the cake for this holiday was the beautiful fruit and veg that Marie presented us with on our first day, straight from the farm. We made sure we ate all of the delicious fresh produce. We highly recommend this to couples looking for a romantic and relaxing escape in the country.
24/08/2015Jessica
It was the perfect escape and honeymoon after a busy few months planning our wedding. We felt very welcomed, the blueberries were like no other! I would recommend anyone going here if looking for a quiet trip to get away from it all, it puts you back to nature and the silence and space is just perfect! Thankyou For letting us share this special place with you both.
17/08/2015Alice
It was just wonderful! The horsebox has everything you need: it is full of elaborate details, the bed is nice and comfy, the logburner works very efficient, the kitchenette is well equiped to do your camping cooking. You even have your own garden. The owners welcomed us with warmth and hospitality- and we got a basket full of delicious organic veg and fruits! The owners really care that we had everything we needed. The bath is very clean and nice, full of lovely details. It was our first compost toilet experience- and it was good. It's not at all smelly. The surrounding is very beautiful, the farm itself is really quiet.
27/07/2015Sandra
We had a wonderful stay at the Tree of Life Horsebox. Marie and Sylvie were incredibly welcoming and the site was exactly what we were looking for: secluded but with good access to local amenities. The basket of fruit, vegetables and eggs was a lovely touch and extremely generous in size! We were very impressed with the cooking facilities, as we were not expecting an oven when we arrived. The showering facilities were excellent with consistent hot water available.
17/07/2015Georgie
We had a fantastic holiday in the Tree of Life horsebox which surpassed our expectations and made us feel like we'd found our own little bit of Cornish heaven! The location was perfect for exploring the north coast with St Agnes and Perranporth beaches just 10 minutes away. We took a short drive to visit St Ives and Marazion to see St Michael's Mount. When we weren't exploring the horsebox was the perfect hideaway to relax in. We loved having our own space knowing if we needed anything the very friendly hosts Maria and Sylvia were just down the lane. It was a perfect romantic getaway!
03/07/2015Carly
This was our first Glamping experience and we couldn't have asked for more, we had such a fantastic time and Marie was a wonderful host by giving us ultimate privacy yet available to answer the phone for any questions. Our attempts at keeping the wood burner alight failed until our last night, which made the experience even better!
26/06/2015Sophie
It was a very relaxing stay at the horsebox, Agnes. Every little detail was thought of. Was nice to come back to our own little piece of tranquillity after the hustle and bustle of London and Ascot. Great beaches and villages not that far away

We had a very relaxing long weekend and have already recommended the venue to other people.

"We had a fantastic time! Sylvie and Marie have made a beautiful place to stay! They were very friendly and welcoming, but gave us our own space. The horsebox, with separate compost loo and separate shower room are all in a gated, tree line area that you have all to yourself. The horsebox (called Agnes) is really nicely decorated and is very cosy and clean, there is a little patio area where you can sit outside if the weather is good and a wood burning stove for if its chilly. There is a BBQ, and a stove for cooking outside, or a little hob for cooking inside. The loo and shower room are clean and well maintained. The box of free veggies were lovely. The pub being a short walk away is great and the coast is not far. All in all just a fab holiday!"

We had the most wonderful time at the Tree of Life Horsebox! We have a 10 month old puppy and the enclosed garden was perfect for her to roam freely without any worries. The space itself was cosy and inviting, instantly making us feel at home. We enjoyed reading by the fire and dining alfresco amidst the gorgeous garden scenery. Plus, the coast was just a short drive away, making it easy to explore the area. Marie is an outstanding host—so welcoming and attentive. The welcome hamper was a delicious and thoughtful touch. Would highly recommend as the perfect place to relax.

We had a very warm welcome from Marie who showed us around Agnes - the horsebox. Agnes was incredibly well equipped and very cosy with the comfiest bed and a woodburner. We loved being able to switch off and relax.

It was unusual, in Cornwall where I wanted to be. Just sounded perfect.

It was fab.

An anniversary break which was truly relaxing and as 'get away from it all' as we had hoped for. Couldn't fault the horse box, the setting, the quality of the accommodation nor the welcome we received. It was all perfect and the generosity of the owners was brilliant and kind.

Hosts very welcoming and friendly. Horsebox very clean and tidy with everything we needed (and things I didn't even know I would need - hot water bottle!). Very peaceful and relaxing environment. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful place. A slice of heaven. Peaceful, beautiful, a sanctuary away from the busy world. The horse box is so cosy and charming. I was impressed with how beautifully it is maintained and felt at home as soon as we arrived. Cant wait to visit again.

We had an absolutely fantastic time away from it all in Agnes. Marie was a brilliant host, very helpful and welcoming, the basket of organic veg she gave us was lovely and very good quality. We will definitely be coming back again in future, I can't praise this place enough!
