Overview
This cool and stylish space at Ekopod is hidden in its own fold of the Cornish hills, and takes the fusion of modern design and outdoor living one step further. The four-poster bed is the standout feature of the minimal white interior with the hanging chair and low divan adding extra layers of class, whilst the thick throws, rugs and wood burner keep things cosy on chillier nights. The BBQ on the deck and the firepit below inspire long afternoons and evenings of slow food and stargazing, while the timber building behind the pod houses a more traditional kitchen and a bathtub, so that even functional chores become little outdoor adventures. The spaces at Ekopod are each set in their own area of the meadow, close enough for groups to create a community vibe if several are booked together. You might see your neighbours from time to time and meet other guests if you head up to the main barn to charge devices or investigate the snacks on offer at the honesty shop.
The craggy Cornish countryside surrounding you is incredibly diverse, beckoning you to explore clifftop walks and secret golden beaches as well as the wilds of Bodmin Moor. You can visit famous sites like The Eden Project or The Lost Gardens of Heligan, or seek out everything from great food in quiet country pubs to roaring waves at hidden surf spots before heading home to sink into Nessa’s stylish curves.

Outdoor & active
You can walk the coastal path as far as you like (it's quite a long loop) but a particularly pretty section is the walk from Boscastle to Tintagel. We recommend you park in Boscastle, get the bus to Tintagel and walk back.
There's also the Camel Trail, a 17 mile traffic-free cycle and walking path based on the route of the old railway.
The surrounding area offers not only some incredible scenery, with miles of Bodmin Moor to explore, but plenty of activities. You could climb Roughtor and Brown Willy, the highest peaks in Cornwall and the whole area is criss-crossed by walking and cycling trails.
Just one of the many sights is Golitha Falls, a long series of cascades located a short walk along the river Fowey through ancient oak and beech woodland. If you start from the carpark on the east side of Sibblyback lake, it's a 7 or 8 mile hike.
If you fancy learning to surf, Widemouth beach is a popular spot with plenty of places to hire gear or get lessons.
Places to visit
Tintagel castle, supposedly (along with a few hundred other places) the legendary birth place of King Arthur, is just north from you.
Padstow is just half an hour up the coast and aside from being a beautiful port town, it's home to Rick Stein's restaurant, fishmonger and cookery school.
Port Isaac, Boscastle and Bude - visit one of these small coastal fishing villages
Of course, if you're in the area and you're staying at Ekopod, you can't miss the chance to visit The Eden Project. Cornwall's iconic complex of biodomes is much more than a botanical garden, with activities and educational things to see and do, making a full day trip almost a necessity rather than a possibility.

Meet your hosts
Ekopod was established with just two glamping pods in 2010, when glamping was just getting started, we believe it was the first site to have a Geodesmic dome in the UK. Matt and Rachael (a brother and sister team) took over Ekopod in June 2017.
Their move into glamping was inspired by backpacking travel that involved wild camping in Russia and staying in yurts in Mongolia. Blown away by the sense of wonder and adventure that being so remote and living so close to nature can create they came back determined to provide that magic for their guests in the UK. With over 30 years of hospitality experience between them, in hotel and restaurant management respectively, taking over a glamping business seemed to be the perfect venture
While looking for sites they found and fell in love with Ekopod. Since taking over at Ekopod they have restored the two pods that were there originally and have now constructed 5 more. In 2021 they won gold in the Cornwall Tourism Awards for Glamping Business of the Year and Bronze for Wildlife Friendly Tourism Business.
Their vision is
• To provide a sense of remoteness; all the glamping units are set in their own space, with private terraces and away from each other.
• To provide a relaxing way for guests to get close to nature, enjoy starry skies and outside adventures but with more luxury and ease than a standard camping trip allows.
• To give back to the land the site is on, by working on habitat restoration for native British species and creating an environmentally friendly business
Environmental policy
The site is designed to try and be as environmentally friendly as possible. The site is off grid so there is no wi-fi or no electricity in the pods. Water is provided by the onsite spring and they have a bio digestor for waste. There is electricity in the main barn for charging items (all the electricity from our energy supplier is from renewable sources). The lighting in the pods is by solar power and candlelight, the heating in the pod is by wood burner
Wildlife
One of the most important things Matt and Rachael want to do at Ekopod is to make the site as wildlife friendly as possible.
They have drawn up a 5 year habitat management plan with a local ecologist to create more biodiversity. So far work has included woodland management, bracken management and creating wildlife ponds.
They have also worked with a local wildlife sanctuary to release rescued hedgehogs back into the wild at Ekopod.
In the spring and summer quite often swallows nest in the kitchens of Eyl and Nessa so if you have some swallow babies keeping you company please don’t worry, the parents seem not to care about humans being around. Matt and Rachael apologise for the mess they make and thank you for helping us look after them!
There are dormice, bird, bat and hedgehog boxes around site, bird feeding stations and they deliberately keep a lot of the site wild to provide habit and shelter for all the insects, amphibians, birds and mammals that live at Ekopod. For your wildlife sightings you’ll have most luck early in the morning (especially with the deer).
They’d love it while you’re there if you would consider downloading the ORKS app (Online Recording Kernow and Scilly) and record any wildlife you spot!
There are some wonderful pockets of wilderness around Ekopod for nature lovers where owls, red kite, peregrine falcon, deer, foxes, otters and even beavers have been sighted. On the North Coast you can take wildlife boating trips where if you are lucky it possible to see anything from seals, to dolphins, whales and basking sharks.

Me and my partner went to Ekopod for 4 days. Communication from hosts was spot on and our stay was perfect. We got a welcome pack and everything was in good order to allow us to have the most relaxing long weekend together! Some may be scared off in winter due to the temp but made the pod all the cosier in the evening with fire roaring. Just be sure to bring blankets! Hot water was fast heating and perfect so showers and baths were easy. Great site and would 100% visit again.
30/11/2024Bradley
It was a very good place, a good location to visit a lot of places in cornwall
31/10/2024Jami
We had a lovely time staying in Nessa! Though it was cold due to the time of year, the log burner was fantastic and well stocked and we were equipped with a lovely blanket, hot water bottles and a super cosy duvet!

What a wonderful stay at the Ekopod site, it felt like we were the only ones there it was so quite. THe pod was so homey withe lots of scape to make ourselves at home, we had the fire lit each evening and enjoyed cooking outside, the bath was wonderful after a day of exploring bodmin. the roads around the site are very narrow
27/10/2023rebecca
A beautiful setting with everything we needed in the pod, kitchen and bathroom. Lovely walks around the area. Great bed with lovely log burner and fire pit that we also cooked on. Perfect lying in bed and looking at the stars!!
14/08/2023Tamzin
Unbelievable stay, we have 2 young kids (4 & 7) and the time at EKOPOD was one of our best holidays, such a great location for trips around north cornwall, beautiful at night especially and all the benefits of outdoor camping, but with great beds, a long burner and a bathroom. Highly recommended.
22/07/2022Tom
It was simply awesome - the pods are fantastic and I felt the stresses melt away over the course of our stay! Thankyou!
15/10/2021Chris
Beautiful, peaceful, unique, utterly fabulous!

A wonderful experience

This was one of our favourite stays ever. Absolutely everything about Nessa and Ekopod was just ideal. The guidebook, which we studied before we even got there, was filled with excellent ideas and clearly delineated which places were dog friendly. We did two of the walks, went to several of the stores, and had a wonderful time. The geodome itself was unbelievable--and we had high expectations. Gorgeous decor, comfy bed, clean bathroom, well-stocked kitchen. There were also so many little touches we appreciated, from a long lead hookup outside for our dog and a bag of treats for him on arrival to large, fluffy bath towels and plenty of wood for the amazing wood-burning stove. The setting was an oasis. Quiet, relaxing, stunning. We loved listening to the rain fall at night, hearing the birds in the morning, and just being unplugged. It was a magical getaway!
07/05/2021Emily
Absolutely beautiful location. Surrounded by wildlife and fields full of animals. Perfect short getaway with pretty much everything you need (the only thing we needed and didn’t have was a sharp knife, and I assume this was for safety reasons).
23/04/2021Victoria
It was so relaxing- really able to get away from it all. We stayed for 2 nights and visited Tintagel whicu is 20 minutes away. There is no electricity (although plenty of solar lights and a locker in the barn to charge your phone etc) so you are able to disconnect from the world a little so peaceful and lovely to be in an Ekopod with a wood burner too.
19/04/2021faye
It was amazing and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an experience
03/11/2020Roz
The Geodome at Ekopod is amazing, it is your own little haven from the world. There was everything you could need to have a fab get away. The Geodome was quiet, clean and really comfy. We had both wet and dry weather so took advantage of the cosiness of the Geodome snuggled up in front of the fire as well as the amazing BBQ set into the outdoor table looking at some outstanding scenery. We loved the private double bath where you could throw open the doors and enjoy the scenery. The little touches of St Kitts Herbary lotions and potions in the bathroom, coffee, tea, cheese and biscuits in the kitchen and firewood in the Geodome just made it such an easy and welcoming experience. We are normally campers so we really felt like we were living in luxury, you really can just rock up with some clothes and have the best holiday here. We will be back for sure!
13/07/2020Rachel
Me and my boyfriend found the Ekopod’s for our anniversary and we both agree that it was outstanding absolutely perfect for our 1 year anniversary we definitely will be back it was beautiful waking up early with the views and the fire feeling so grounded and collected it was just what we needed.

We had a lovely time at Nessa Ekopod. The weather wasn’t wonderful but the experience was! Something different to the norm but so much more luxurious and special! Being able to be in touch with nature and have all life’s luxuries was a perfect balance, the log burner and the bath were definitely highlights. But the most impressive part was the view every morning and the stillness of being in the countryside.
23/09/2019Frances
Ekopod Experience - we did not want to leave! We both felt rejuvenated after our visit. The whole concept of getting back to nature and still have all life's little luxuries was superb! We loved our Nessa escape pod! A huge thank you to our host for creating such an wonderful place!
19/07/2019samantha
Our stay was brilliant. Nessa has everything we would need/want. All the little extra touches were the icing on the cake.
14/06/2019Emma
We really enjoyed our stay at Nessa and it was the perfect location for an amazing surprise for my partners birthday. We loved how quiet the area was and also the luxury of the Geodome and outdoor space we had. There was plenty of room on the decking area for cooking and eating. We would love to return and recommended Nessa to family and friends.

They stay was AMAZING. The place was completely stunning and everything was perfect. Hot water bottles were provided incase we got cold, everything was spotless when we arrived and we were cared for SO well. The suggestions for places to eat/things to do whilst staying was SO helpful. We would book again in a heartbeat

Fantastic cosy peaceful getaway off the grid. Really nice touch with complimentary tea coffee, local milk and cheese, crackers shortbread and chutney. So nice the running water came from the spring. Nice to have a private fully fitted bathroom and kitchen area. Four poster bed very comfy too. Very romantic if just a couple with fairy lights and candles. Nice to have hot water bottles too and enough wood for length of stay.

The perfect relaxing retreat away from noise and stress. Everything you need and no need to worry about a single thing. This was an escape from a stressful few months of work and it was exactly what we needed, 3 nights of complete bliss. The duvet was incredible, like you were sleeping in a cloud! We stayed over NYE and it was quite cold, I would be mindful of this in the winter months as we were luckily prepared with thermals etc. but if not then be aware that it does take a couple of hours for the pod to heat up when you get the fire going. Also, there are very limited lights so I'd recommend taking a torch/solar lights etc. which we unfortunately didn't do (reading my candle light was very hyggeligt however which I love!) Overall though none of this impacted our stay! The location is perfect for walks around Bodmin Moor and the North Coast of Cornwall too, there is a great farmshop called "Hilltop Farm" just a short drive away which does great breakfasts (and veggie ones!) but if you want to have the best Cornish Pasty then you have to go to Malcom Barnecutts in Launceston!

It was wonderful, beautiful setting, great design and practically everything was well thought out

Fabulous holiday. Peaceful locstion, felt like we were in the middle of no where, but within easy driving distance of local interests and plenty of things to do. Just wish we'd had more time! The pod was perfect, exactly as pictured. Very cosy and had everything we needed. Hosts were very helpful in the run up to the stay. Would definitely return.

The geo dome and facilities were lovely, well built and beautifully designed. Unfortunately we had snow and we’re not aware the geo dome was not insulated, so this affected our stay. I would definitely go back in warmer weather

We chose nessa for a little autumn adventure with our 4 year old son and we absolutely loved it. Every detail, the site is so thoughtfully laid out, the views, the luxury of the wood burner and the comfortable bed, the sunrises, it was incredible and we'll be back for sure. Can't believe we saw the Milky Way from the door! We're now dreaming about selling our home and living in a geodome forever! They really are beautiful structures.

Matt has created a super sanctuary of a space, very scandi in style inside and feels really warm and cosy. The highlight - a fairy lit bath (of hot running water!) looking out onto the night sky.

Really enjoyed our ekopod, so cosy and warm, and then setting the log fire in the evenings was lovely and cosy even if we didn't need the heat. The cabin area with the kitchen and bathroom were brilliant, hot and cold running water on a camping trip is amazing. And the wooden decking brought it all together for our little place. Our dog had his stake with a line so that he could always reach us around the area and explore a bit on his own.

I booked a weekend stay for myself and my partner and wasn’t expecting massives however we were absolutely astonished by our experience and our stay in Nessa at Ekopod. The pod itself was far better than what the images portrayed and we got lucky with the weather which allowed us an incredible late night star gazing opportunity from our own bed. The facilities were brilliant and truly represented ‘glamping’. The hosts had organised the pod, kitchen and bathroom perfectly with everything you need along with a couple extra treats which we didn’t expect which was great! Before we even left, we started looking at our next stay!

It was a very good place, a good location to visit a lot of places in cornwall

We had a lovely time staying in Nessa! Though it was cold due to the time of year, the log burner was fantastic and well stocked and we were equipped with a lovely blanket, hot water bottles and a super cosy duvet!

What a wonderful stay at the Ekopod site, it felt like we were the only ones there it was so quite. THe pod was so homey withe lots of scape to make ourselves at home, we had the fire lit each evening and enjoyed cooking outside, the bath was wonderful after a day of exploring bodmin. the roads around the site are very narrow

A beautiful setting with everything we needed in the pod, kitchen and bathroom. Lovely walks around the area. Great bed with lovely log burner and fire pit that we also cooked on. Perfect lying in bed and looking at the stars!!

Absolutely beautiful location. Surrounded by wildlife and fields full of animals. Perfect short getaway with pretty much everything you need (the only thing we needed and didn’t have was a sharp knife, and I assume this was for safety reasons).

Ekopod Experience - we did not want to leave! We both felt rejuvenated after our visit. The whole concept of getting back to nature and still have all life's little luxuries was superb! We loved our Nessa escape pod! A huge thank you to our host for creating such an wonderful place!
