Why choose glamping in Wales?

All the fun of camping with no need to go anywhere near a tent – glamping in Wales gets you back to nature but with a liberal sprinkle of indulgences like wood-fired hot tubs, pizza ovens and wood burners. Deliciously comfy beds and warm showers come as standard. We personally inspect every place in our collection, but we do more than just recommend where to stay. With the help of our brilliant owners, we make sure you get the most from your glamping break with advice on the best local pubs, historic sites, outdoor activities, little-known trails and characterful market towns.

About glamping in the Brecon Beacons

Are the Brecon Beacons worth visiting?

Grab the first chance you get to experience the beauty and diversity of the Brecon Beacons. Wales is the castle capital of the world, so your hikes will often feature a picnic stop by a medieval ruin, or one of the national park’s staggeringly high number of waterfalls. There are caves, kayaking, zip lines, quirky independent bookshops in Hay-on-Wye and an abundance of cosy country pubs serving up mouthwatering Sunday lunches.

Can you visit the Brecon Beacons without a car?

In a word, yes! The Brecon Beacons are conveniently located within easy reach of Cardiff and Swansea, two of Wales’s major transport hubs with good National Express and bus connections. We’ve got a luxurious little Shepherd’s Hut that you can walk to in 15 minutes from the bus stop, geodomes near Abergavenny train station and a converted truck on a lavender farm within easy reach of the well-connected town of Builth Wells. Going car-free will put you in the mood for slow, outdoor adventures where taking in the scenery and protecting the environment take top priority.

What is the prettiest village in the Brecon Beacons?

There are plenty to choose from but no list would be complete without mentioning the gorgeous ‘book town’ of Hay-on-Wye. As well as the world-famous literary festival, it has a castle, lively weekly markets and a wealth of art and antiques shops to explore. At the foot of the Black Mountains, picturesque Crickhowell occupies a lovely spot on the River Usk with an 18th century stone bridge crossing it, and an ancient castle perched high above. On the western edge of the Brecon Beacons, Abergavenny has views of Sugarloaf in the distance and is a mecca for foodies who flock to the festival every September.
