About glamping in the Cairngorms

Are the Cairngorms worth visiting?

You won’t be stuck for things to do in the majestic Cairngorms, it’s more a case of fitting it all in. Walkers can tackle some of the 55 towering Munroes (mountains over 3,000 ft) while history buffs will love the ancient ruins, castles and Highland culture. When night falls, the magic continues in the most Northerly dark sky park in the world where you can see hundreds of stars, constellations and even the Aurora Borealis.

Do you need a car in the Cairngorms?

It feels blissfully remote, but the Cairngorms are surprisingly accessible via public transport. Our glamping places are in the heart of the Highlands with great rail and bus links, as well as Inverness airports within easy reach. Secluded sanctuaries, like The Bothy at Inshriach are conveniently near train stations, in this case a five-minute taxi or bike ride from Aviemore station. Once you’re settled in, you’ll find so many incredible walking trails from the front door that it’s easy to spend your break without a car, exploring the woods, lochs and mountains.

What are the Cairngorms known for?

As well as being home to five of the six highest mountains in the UK, the Cairngorms National Park contains 25% of all of the UK’s endangered species. If you’re lucky enough, you might spot Scottish wildcats, golden eagles, red squirrels, ospreys, snow bunting, lapwing and black grouse. It’s also renowned for fishing, skiing and winter sports with three of Scotland’s five ski resorts in the area, perfect for adrenaline seekers who aren’t afraid to venture out all year round.
