Downward facing dogs and sun salutations feel even more nourishing against a backdrop of rolling green fields. Start your morning with an al fresco yoga session and you’ll feel blissed out for the rest of the day, and set yourself up for a great night’s sleep later. You don’t need to book a retreat to incorporate yoga into your glamping getaway, just create your own DIY wellness break. Many of our spaces provide yoga mats, some offer bookable yoga sessions, and lots simply have the perfect spot to do your practice in front of an epic view. Plus you’ll get to listen to the live version of your sounds of nature playlist. Take a look at our best glamping places for yoga.
Perched among the trees, Willow Igluhut in Suffolk is the perfect blend of comfort, style and beauty. The Blyth Rise site has been transformed by the owners into an oasis of trees and wildflowers with a large lake at its heart, complete with resident otters. In this idyllic setting, you can sign up for outdoor yoga classes (weather dependent), then loosen up those supple muscles even more with a session in the woodland saunas. The cabin has everything you need to unwind including an en suite, kitchen and dreamy king size bed. If you’re running low on supplies, it's a short stroll through the woods to stock up on firewood and home-cooked meals at the shipping container honesty shop. For a day out, paddle down the River Alde, explore the ancient market town of Framlingham or head to Aldeburgh to see a film at one of the UK’s oldest cinemas.
Just a stone’s throw from beautiful Bath, you’ll find magic in the ancient trees at Campbell Woods Village. Waney Cabin is a snug, simple little hideaway with a wood burner and a comfy bed tucked under the sloping roof. Meals are cooked in the communal kitchen where you can swap stories with other guests around the open fire and get great recommendations of places to visit. The pace of life is blissfully slow, but there are plenty of activities on offer including archery, woodworking and campfire cookery. There’s even a secret lake hidden in the woods surrounded by rhododendrons and bamboo where you can canoe, swim and paddleboard. After all that splashing around, book a mindful yoga session followed by a deep, relaxing massage with Zu.
Re-energise mind and body with a zen combination of yoga and wild swimming at Fullerton Farm in Hampshire. You can book a session with Jo during the spring and summer months and it's open to anyone from total beginners to those with more experience. When you’re not stretching and splashing, kick back in the first ever treehouse to be built on a UK vineyard (another good combo). With its minimalist style and huge outdoor copper tub, it's somewhere to relax in leafy, luxury overlooking the unspoilt woodland below. Before you gravitate to Black Chalk Wine for a tour and a tasting make sure you explore the sparkling river and gentle hills of the Test Valley. This beautiful area is known for fly fishing and truffle hunting, as well as an abundance of excellent local pubs and pretty market towns.
The far-reaching views to Exmoor from this two-storey cabin will soothe frazzled nerves before you’ve even done a tree pose. When the surroundings are this peaceful, imagine how mellow you’ll feel after a bespoke yoga session on top of a hill in the fresh air. Instructor Claire provides mats and blankets and will tailor the hour to be as gentle or invigorating as you like. Afterwards, it’s a no-brainer to sink into the hot tub and watch the deer roam across the fields in the distance. The cabin has a king-size bed with amazing views through the big round window, a kitchen and extra bunk beds so you can bring the kids or a couple of mates to share the experience with. There are scenic hikes on the doorstep, the coast is within easy reach and it’s a 3.7 mile walk into Bampton for dinner at The Swan or Spelt.
Floating on a private lake in Essex, The Raft is a shrine to rural relaxation. Accessed by a floating ferry platform, the adventure starts as soon as you arrive and wheelbarrow your gear down from the car park. There’s a rowing boat to splash about it and a wood-fired hot tub on a tethered platform by the bank for soaking under the stars. You can run through your asanas on the large deck overlooking the sparkling waters or book a relaxing yoga and massage session in the room onsite. Chigborough Farm has a shared games room and offers plenty of activities including pottery, SUP, rowing boats and pedalos. The site has become a sanctuary for wildlife including rare migrant birds, so pack your binoculars.
As the Scottish sun rises through the trees and the birds start their morning chorus, pad out onto the deck to do your yoga practice on the mats provided. There’s nothing like it to set you up for a great day exploring the scenery. Perched in the woods, Bracken Treehouse is a stylish sanctuary on stilts where you can soak in the outdoor tub on the deck and linger under the cascading rainfall shower in the wetroom. It feels totally secluded while only being a 15-minute drive from both St Andrews and Dundee. There are miles of nature trails on the doorstep, the Lomond Hills to hike in, quaint seaside villages, sandy beaches and pretty market towns. After a day of adventures, unwind in front of the wood burner ready for a deep sleep undisturbed by light pollution or traffic noise.
Switch off your phone and head to The Linhay to relax in off-grid tranquillity in the heart of the Devon countryside. It has its own hexagonal yoga deck where you can bliss out moving through your favourite poses in the fresh air. Spend the rest of the day swinging in the hammock, lazing by the firepit or dangling your toes in the stream. If you want to venture further afield, browse the farmer’s markets in Braunton, surf at Saunton, clamber up the steep paths at picturesque Clovelly or hike in Exmoor National Park. By night, the dark skies come into their own and transform into a blanket of bright, twinkling stars.
