There’s no need to choose between creature comforts and being fully immersed in nature when you’ve got an indoor shower with an epic view. You’ll be warm and cosy, with toiletries and fluffy towels to hand, but the bathroom seems to magically melt away as you stare out at the view. Choose from skylights with tantalising glimpses of leaves and clouds, or opt for a full length window overlooking trees and fields. The birds and squirrels might peek in but they’re the only ones and they’ve seen it all before. Take a look at seven of our finest indoor showers where you can immerse yourself in nature as well as soap suds.
Huge picture windows are a recurring theme at Bracken Treehouse in Fife and the one in the luxurious wet room doesn’t disappoint. The rainfall shower is somewhere to linger (long after you’re squeaky clean) and daydream as you gaze out of the full-length window at the woods. The outdoor tub is an equally addictive spot for a romantic soak while watching the sunset and listening to the wildlife. It’s easy to nurture mind, body and soul in this tranquil cliffside spot.
Walk the nature trails from the front door, use the yoga mats on the deck at sunrise and if you’re feeling a bit tense, ask the owners to book a massage or treatment with a local beautician. Quaint seaside villages, local market towns, and St Andrews are all a short drive away.
Shower under the trees, except with underfloor heating and no chilly breeze, at Oakdown Treehouse in Wiltshire. It has a huge skylight built into the ceiling of the wetroom. Every inch of this space is designed for relaxation, from the king-size bed, cosy wood burner and coffee machine, to the outdoor kitchen and hot tub. All this leafy splendour is surrounded by rolling West Country hills dotted with grazing farm animals and the odd passing tractor.
As a result, you can order extremely local home-reared meat, delivered directly to the treehouse to grill on the BBQ. Alternatively it’s a 25 minute walk to the local pub or a short drive to the restaurants, cafes and general Georgian gorgeousness of Bath.
Close to Snowdonia National Park, Ty’r Onnen Treehouse is so spectacular you might forget to explore the wild Welsh surroundings. Standing under the shower in the wetroom, you can peek through the full-length window across the deck to a mosaic of meadows, woodland and hills beyond. Blow a kiss to your partner if they happen to be out there enjoying the views (all the views). There’s no internet, so you can give your undivided attention to long soaks in the hot tub, toasting marshmallows over the firepit and sipping sundowners on the wraparound deck.
Keep an eye out for hares, skylarks, badgers, owls and kites while you’re there. Potter around the site dipping your toes in the stream and swinging on the rope swing and if you can feel like venturing further, the peaks of Snowdonia and gorgeous sands of Morfa Borth are yours to explore.
Take the most atmospheric shower of your life, ten metres off the ground overlooking snowy pines and – if you’re really lucky – glimpses of the Northern Lights. For an even better view of the aurora borealis, gaze up through the bedroom skylights or lie back on the huge, suspended outdoor net and take in the celestial displays. This is glamping at its most surreal and breathtaking. The treehouse is clad in charred-timber with staggering views over Swedish Lapland and the Lule River Valley. Inside is sleek and luxurious decorated in pared back Scandi style with pale woods, hygge textiles and cosy underfloor heating.
There’s even a life-size photo on the underside of the cabin showing the pine tops as they appeared before 7th Room landed. When you’re not staring in slack-jawed wonder at the scenery, explore it by hiking in the forest, snowmobiling, husky sledding or ziplining.
One of our accessible spaces, the wetroom at Wonham Oak has a drench shower with a fold down chair and handles, next to a full height window with views through the trees. The whole space is on one level with no steps, has lowered sills on entry points and a chairlift for the outdoor bath. The balcony is a huge space that overlooks the peaceful sea of green in the old quarry below with bifold doors that open four metres wide bringing the outside in to the whole space.
On a warm day, pull the doors open first thing and gaze out from the super king size bed with a cuppa. There’s plenty to do on the doorstep like visit the local Donkey Sanctuary, explore the stunning gardens at RHS Rosemoor or head to the Pentire Headland.

Dragon Cruck feels like it grew out of the woods that surround it, which, given the very local sourcing of the timber, it pretty much did. The outdoor shower here is truly one to behold. Found 100m away, it’s a world of its own, finding a balance of indoors and out, with great privacy, whilst still offering the fresh air and sunshine to enjoy in warm water.
Also outdoors is the pizza oven, found just outside the cabin, where in the evening, candles, solar lighting and lanterns will make for a calm and beautiful spot to craft some foodie delights. The Vyrnwy valley isn’t just great to look at (or take a shower in), it’s also great for other water-based fun. Wild swimming, canoeing and picnic spots can all be found in the hills. Owner Mike is a mountain guide as well as a craftsman and can set you off on hiking routes as challenging or gentle as you like.
Say bonjour to the beautiful French countryside in a spectacular Dordogne treehouse overlooking a wild swimming lake and forests. Every inch of the space is connected to nature with a skylight in the roof above the shower and a terrace off the upstairs bedroom for semi-alfresco snoozing. There’s a hot tub, wood burner and a second deck downstairs with outdoor seating and a hanging chair.
The owner has built three secluded cabins on the site using sustainable and organic materials reflecting the beauty of the woodland. You’re 15 minutes from kayaking and canoeing trips on the Dordogne river, and there’s horse riding, hiking and geocaching close by. This is wine country and Bordeaux, St Emilion and Bergerac are all within easy reach.
