Glamping places with swimming pools

You might not immediately associate glamping with swimming pools. Hot tubs? Yes. Glorious countryside? Tick. Sheep meandering past? Naturally. But a swimming pool? Well, yes actually. Some of our glamping spaces are on larger sites with communal pools for guests to enjoy. You’ll still be staying in blissful tranquillity surrounded by nature but if you fancy a relaxing dip, just don your flip flops, grab a towel and wander across the fields. Some are indoor pools, some are outdoor and there’s even a private infinity pool in one of our more luxurious cabins.

The Pennard Hide, Somerset

Immersed in the forest overlooking the Mendip Hills, The Pennard Hide treehouse offers two sleeping options — the sumptuous king size bed in the wood cabin and twin beds in a suspended, spherical tree pod. If you bring the kids, there’s no doubt they’ll bagsie the otherworldly tree tent. The spaces are linked by a large deck where you can gather to enjoy leisurely meals cooked in the wood-fired pizza oven. It's especially magical at night when the whole elevated space is lit by fairy lights. There are wonderful walks in the Somerset countryside nearby where you can stop off to meet the cows, visit vineyards or sample delicious local cheeses. The indoor pool in a beautiful converted barn is the icing on the cake — the water is heated to 29/30 degrees and the air in the room is temperature controlled so you won’t be shivering in the changing room.

Loveland Farm, Devon

Loveland Farm is a beautiful smallholding on the Hartland Peninsula in North Devon with nine stylish geodomes. As if a stunning hillside with sea views wasn’t enough, the owners have added a luxurious 11-metre eco-swimming pool open daily from 9.30am - 7pm. Set in a light, airy barn conversion with serious design credentials, it’s something truly special — the pool contains no chemicals and is heated by a woodchip-fired biomass. As well as swimming, the owners offer food hampers and run courses on site including mushroom growing, silversmithing and pottery. Nearby you can visit Lundy Island, cycle the Tarka Trail, visit picturesque Clovelly or scamper on the beach at Sandymouth. Each pod comes complete with its own private shower, award-winning compost toilet facilities and a kitchen so you can be as self-contained or sociable as you like.

Kushti Camp, Berkshire

Round up a group of mates and go camping Berkshire-style in cosy cabins connected by strings of fairy lights, set around a gorgeous outdoor pool. Kushti Camp has been designed to bring people together with its large, well-equipped outdoor kitchen shelter and plenty of fun to be had on site. When you’re not racing inflatables across the pool, you’ll be competing in table tennis tournaments, playing board games, chatting on the sun loungers and toasting marshmallows over the fire. There’s even a storage cabin if you want to bring your bikes. There’s no need to leave Kushti Camp but if you want to explore further afield, Pangbourne is on the doorstep for swimming and boating and there are scenic walks including The Ridgeway and the Thames footpath. The pretty riverside village of Goring-on-Thames is only six miles away and the famous regatta town of Henley is about half an hour’s drive.

Uppergate Farm, Yorkshire

By ‘eck Uppergate Farm in West Yorkshire is a glorious spot. Two cosy yurts and a spacious shepherd’s hut are perched among the trees at the edge of the farm with easy access to The Pennines. When you’re not soaking in your private hot tub or barbequing delicious produce from the farm shop, there’s a sauna and spacious indoor pool for guest use – typically heated to a snuggly 31/32 degrees. There’s also an indoor games room with table tennis, table football and mini snooker. With so much to do it’s tempting to stay put but the beautiful Holme Valley is too beautiful not to explore. Go walking and cycling in the Peak District National Park, wander the streets of pretty Hepworth and visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Within 45 minutes by car or rail, you can get to Chatsworth House, York and Hardwick Hall.
