Our favourite cabins with saunas

The added luxury of a sauna ups the wellbeing credentials of your cabin holiday. We’re adding more and more places with saunas to bring you glamping getaways that nourish mind, body and soul. The practice of using saunas for health and enjoyment has been around for centuries, with the dry heat said to help cleanse toxins from the body, reduce pain and inflammation, and even benefit heart health when used safely. The warm, dark cocoon of the sauna is the yin to the fresh air yang of a cabin holiday. Combine their restorative powers and you’ll come away reinvigorated with a hearty Finnish spring in your step. Take a look at our favourite cabins with saunas.

Camelot

Camelot isn’t just a place to stay; it’s a destination to explore. With two full-size bedrooms and a cosy loft bedroom, the spacious layout invites that first-hour dash to claim your favourite corner. But what truly sets Camelot apart is that it's a place to reset and relax. Step into your own private indoor spa, where you'll find a sauna, a sunken whirlpool bath, a smart TV, and big glass windows for admiring the view. The space is also equipped with yoga mats for a mindful morning stretch, or you can book a private massage session. Lastly, you can't leave without immersing yourself in the bespoke, six-person William Holland copper bath - crafted as a statement piece and the largest of its kind.

Edens Vale Lodge

While several of our cabins have shared saunas, there aren’t many with their own private sauna off the bathroom to slope off to whenever you want to warm up. It’s one of many romantic ways to get cosy at Edens Vale Lodge after bracing walks in the Cumbrian hills – there’s also an outdoor wood fired bath, a wood burning stove and a fire pit. This is glamping in style, with a bed handmade from windblown oak, a sleek kitchen and a spacious deck overlooking the trees. There are fabulous walks on the doorstep, Carlisle cathedral to visit, boating on Ullswater, or you could indulge your new found appreciation for well being activities with a visit to the spa at Appleby Manor – to compare saunas.

Jake’s Place

When you find yourself in a riverside setting this scenic, selfies are obligatory. As well as taking photos of yourselves in front of your gorgeous Yorkshire cabin, try and encourage a few photobombs from some of the resident wildlife which include otters, sea trout and kingfishers. In this utterly secluded, romantic setting, they’ll be the only ones intruding on your privacy. The obligatory shots of mouth watering BBQs and blissful outdoor baths on the deck are a must, but the view from the kingsize bed through the sliding doors to the river beyond is something you’ll want to cherish forever so remember to capture it on camera.

Riverdale

Set on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Riverdale’s four huts are an idyllic base for adventures. After a day of exploring, return to the comfort of an indoor bath, a warm shower, or even a refreshing river swim. For deeper relaxation, book the on-site wood-fired sauna and cold plunge experience - a perfect blend of heat and cold to recharge your senses. There's also an outdoor bathtub at each space, (psst, Poppy has dual bathtubs!) all overlooking the adjacent river, for truly sinking into the evening (or any time of day) and relaxing.  You might hear the odd chuckle and clink of glasses from one of the nearby cabins, but you’re positioned to give enough privacy.

Blyth Rise Stays

A rambling woodland village of lakeside lodges and iglu huts in picturesque Suffolk, Blyth Rise Stays has two beautiful birch wood on-site saunas that can each accommodate up to six people. If you're savvy, you’ll time your slot to coincide with the end of a day’s cycling or kayaking in the surrounding area. There’s no need to rush off if you need a break from the heat, these secluded nests have their own outdoor relaxation areas to cool off in. A serious labour of love by hosts Pam and Mark, the accommodation at Blyth Rise Stays is cool, stylish and cosy and there’s plenty to do in the local area. Visit old market towns like Framlingham and Aldeburgh, hike the coastal paths or paddle board on the River Alde where you might spot basking seals.

Fleur De Grog

Nestled on a peaceful Cornish smallholding, Fleur de Grog is a place where homemade touches meet pure relaxation. The interiors, crafted by owner Nic, pair perfectly with the wood-fired sauna and outdoor spring water shower built by her husband, James. Use of the sauna is included, making it easy to spend evenings alternating between its soothing warmth and the refreshing outdoor shower. By day, enjoy al fresco meals at the streamside table with organic finds from a nearby farm shop, or take a short walk to wild swim in the Camel River. For adventures further afield, explore the Camel Trail, surf beaches, and moorland hikes, all adding to the restorative magic of this handcrafted retreat.

Ishriach Loghouse

Cocooned in the Cairngorms, rustic Ishriach Loghouse is surrounded by 200 acres of natural woodland, bordered by the river Spey. You’re spoilt for adventurous outdoor activities in the stunning wilds of Aviemore with everything from white water rafting, climbing, pony trekking, mountain biking and canoeing on offer. Set out on easy hikes straight from Inshriach or hit the nearby Lochs for windsurfing and fishing. After an exhilarating day communing with nature, head back for a relaxing session in the recycled horse box sauna before retreating up the ladder to your cosy mezzanine bedroom under the eaves to dream of ospreys, deer and red squirrels. Just make sure you leave enough time in your busy schedule to sample owner Walter’s hand-picked and handmade small batch Speyside gins.
