Overview
From the balcony, you look out on the sweeping panorama of a lush Welsh valley as you sip your morning coffee. In the Den, the space underneath, you’ll find your hammock and outside seating area, as well as an electric hot tub, for a dip under the fairy lights when the sun goes down. Inside you’ll find a dining table to serve feasts to all seven guests, a reading nook for quiet lazy afternoons, or the bean bags and swinging sofa for when the hour is late, the air is cool and you’re nowhere near ready for bed. Those lucky enough to be staying in the master bedroom have a floor to ceiling window, overlooking both the balcony and the same incredible view. If you’re slow to rise, you might wake to your other guests already draping themselves over the sun loungers on the balcony below to enjoy the morning rays.
From the pictures, it’s clear how much there is to do at the space, but harder to spot the little features that make it so easy to relax in, like motorised blinds, Bluetooth speakers or underfloor heating – but trust us, they’re there. Cnocell y Coed is midway between the Shropshire Hills AONB, and the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park – with about a half hour’s drive to either. Even a trip to the west coast is only an hour’s drive through scenic valleys and patchwork fields. Nearby, Wales shows off its foodie vibes with a range of world foods, vege and vegan menus and of course, pub classics. Pick a direction and you’ll find something incredible, but at Cnocell y Coed – you’re already somewhere incredible.

Meet Lyndon and Emma
Lyndon, Emma and their family are proud of their heritage and connection to the land in Radnorshire, Wales. For over a century, the family have been raising sheep and cattle on their farm known locally as "The Rhiw". The treehouses offer breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, valleys and river, but it's not just about the scenery. Lyndon and Emma take pride in sharing their local history, language and mythical stories with their guests. They want visitors to truly immerse themselves in the culture and beauty of the area, and learn about the traditions, customs and language that have been passed down through generations.
Wildlife & Environment
The family has managed the land with exquisite care, planting oak saplings and building natural bug hotels, among much other work. In May, breathtaking carpets of bluebells cover the forest floor.
A huge variety of insects and invertebrates call the place home, which in turns means a flourishing ecosystem that draws deer, squirrels and birdlife. The area around the Wood is heaven for birdwatchers, with a variety of species to observe, including buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers, plus barn owls to listen out for.

The place is extremely clean! Jacuzzi was a very relaxing place to be in on cold winter days. The host Emma was extremely helpful and thoughtful! Emma was able to accommodate us with additional request such as BBQ equipment. She also kindly prepared my little one a birthday welcome decoration also his birthday present! The whole experience was beyond our expectation! This is the best treehouse experience and we had an amazing family time together! Thank you so much, Emma, for everything you did!
10/01/2025Lucy
My family and I had such a wonderful stay. The place had everything you could ever need and was beautiful decorated giving such a cosy feel. As the place was so lovely we didn’t want to leave and would rush back from our outings looking forward to all the house had to offer. The view outside the balcony of the land was also breathtaking.
13/12/2024Nadia
Myself and 4 close friends stayed in Cnocell y Coed in late October. We had an amazing time and were very impressed by the lodge. The balcony offered fantastic views of the welsh countryside, as well as the chance to spot some of the local wild life. The surrounding area offered interesting walks with spectacular views. I would highly recommend getting up early at least one of the mornings of your stay and heading up to Giants Grave for some breath taking views of the low clouds rolling through the valley.
25/10/2024Neil
The weather was surprisingly good, the place was really comfortable with a great view and Emma was super helpful and friendly. The area (about which I knew zero beforehand) was a real eye opener
21/10/2024Chris
The accommodation was superb, really good quality and the setting was stunning. The hosts (Emma and Lyndon) were super accommodating and friendly and they really cared us having a good break. The fossil hunting was a real highlight, our children loved exploring the quarry! The fire pit area was also really good to have so we can easily cook and eat outside.
16/08/2024Gary
Myself, partner and son had an absolutely beautiful stay here.We loved everything about it. The beds were so comfortable we all had a great nights sleep. The place has everything you need, good WiFi, fantastic hot tub area over looking the outdoors. Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom was a lovely touch. It was nice to be able to charge our car up outside the property. Our 11 year old would get up each morning to sit outside on the balcony without waking us to watch the sheep and cows. Not far from the local town. Emma was there to greet and say goodbye, she was very nice. We would 100% recommend, and we would definitely return.

An amazing stay at an incredible location! Perfect from start to end, a wonderful property, with amazing views, lots of space and a large hot tub for taking it all in. A fantastic host too, who helped us plan some of our days out, so lots to do and see in mid Wales. I can’t recommend this house highly enough. We’ll definitely be heading back for more. Thanks again.
15/07/2024Mark
Amazing stay. Emma was a very helpful and welcoming host, and the house was very cosy, comfortable and stylish.
07/06/2024Oscar
Perfect little break away. Great use of facilities every little detail thought of. Owners were so friendly and helpful with ideas for additional activities and attractions near the treehouse. Immaculate treehouse with gorgeous views. Didnt want to leave. Being near the sheep, cows and the birds really brought you into the nature aspect really escaping from reality. Absolutely loved the hot tub watching the sunset and the sound of the sheep could never get bored. Great section of games and colouring books/ canvas drawing even the option of yoga which was excellent. Outdoor bbq was ideal a great touch of extra facilities. Beds and pillows are super comfy. My favourite part about staying at Cnocell y Coed is the swing chair in the front room so different from other treehouse/ cabins such a great spin on the visual of the living space still with the option of a sofa but you can choose the swing if you wish to enjoy a book or want to relax without being in front of the TV. Black out blinds was a great touch especially when you are used to black out curtains so really made it home from home. Everything you need is already within Cnocell y Coed you just need to bring food, drink and you.
13/05/2024Kirsty
What an amazing place! We arrived in the rain but were met almost immediately by Emma the owner, who showed us round pointed everything out to us explained all the facilities and opened up the fabulous Hot Tub !
01/04/2024Jayne
The treehouses were perfect and could not be better. I've paid twice as much for similar accommodation. Emma is a lovely host, nothing was too much trouble. I've recommended these cabins to everyone I've spoken to and would book again when we need some R&R. Thanks again!
25/03/2024Ryan
We had a really lovely stay for my wife’s birthday. It’s such a beautiful space with amazing views and we were so welcomed by our host by who laid out special extras as arranged for my wife’s birthday and invited us to see the fresh baby calf at the farm, she also gave us many recommendations for lots of things to do during our stay which were much appreciated. The cabin was really well thought out, aswell as being well equipped even with lots of children’s toys for our 2 year old. We had a fantastic stay and would definitely stay again.
01/03/2024Harry
We had a wonderful stay at the Cnocell y Coed treehouse which was stunning inside and out - fantastic amenities, luxurious, spotlessly clean and with very comfortable beds! The view was breathtaking, even from the hot tub - such a lovely way to wind down as a family, even on rainy days. Emma was an incredible host, responding immediately to all messages and questions both in the run up to and during our stay. She had provided lots of essentials for the stay and went the extra mile a few times such as providing a Valentine’s Day craft project for the kids to do on a rainy day, as well as providing a bubbly treat for the adults! To top it off, having access to their quarry for fossil hunting was an exciting bonus, we found so many fossils! We’ll certainly be coming back!
12/02/2024Sara
We had such a relaxed time at Cnocell y Coed, the house was beautiful with the smallest of details from the perfectly placed bird feeder outside the kitchen window to watch the finches in the morning to the automatic curtain opener so there was no need to get out of bed before seeing the gorgeous view across the rolling hills. Everything was of high quality, the hot tub was amazing and we were lucky enough to be in it while watching the owl at dusk. There were places to visit a drive away but we spent one full day around the house, building fires to cook sausages and marshmallows on and whittling, my teenage boys flew their drones and were able to use their remote control cars while we read and explored our surroundings on foot. At night the stars were amazing I've never seen anything like it. Emma was a fantastic host and available for any questions and recommendations; Elan Dam and ice cream at Llanfaes Dairy ice cream in Brecon were a hit even in February. Cnocell y Coed was truly a great escape to the country and one the whole family would recommend or as an adult get away.
09/02/2024Vicky
Myself, my partner and friends stayed at Rhiw wood over new year. We couldn’t have enjoyed the stay more. Everything was perfect. The treehouse is done to a high standard and Emma has thought about literally everything you might need while you’re there. The views are unreal, and the location itself is great as it’s not too far away from places to walk and go eat. Emma was really attentive during our stay and is so friendly. Couldn’t fault anything and will definitely be back! Thank you!
29/12/2023Laura
We stayed at Cnocell y Coed for four nights in autumn. The treehouse is absolutely stunning! The views out of the huge windows are breathtaking! Every morning we didn't know what we would wake up to, because it looked different every day. We got to watch red kites soaring in the skies all day long. The view from the hot tub is also incredible. Our stay was incredibly peaceful. The area is quiet and perfect for a relaxing getaway. Emma was a great host, friendly and always on hand if you have questions or want recommendations for a day out. Couldn't recommend it more!

A fantastic stay from start to finish. Beautiful treehouse in a wonderful setting, the hosts went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Throughly enjoyed our weekend.
18/08/2023Chris
The perfect place to make wonderful memories. The Wood really is magical with so much wildlife and beauty and the treehouse does a fantastic job at reflecting this. We had a wonderful meal outside in the deck area before settling into the hot tub to catch the sunset. The treehouse was clean, spacious with plenty to do and gave lots of inspiration to get out to explore. we came back fresh and already planning my return!

I’d consider myself a well seasoned traveller but I’ve never stayed somewhere like this before. It manages to tick every box by being exquisitely designed with every detail and yet is homely, comfortable and super relaxing. The photos were impressive but the views in reality were breathtaking

As the place was so lovely we didn’t want to leave and would rush back from our outings looking forward to all the house had to offer. The view outside the balcony of the land was also breathtaking.

The weather was surprisingly good, the place was really comfortable with a great view and Emma was super helpful and friendly. The area (about which I knew zero beforehand) was a real eye opener

The treehouses were perfect and could not be better. I've paid twice as much for similar accommodation. Emma is a lovely host, nothing was too much trouble. I've recommended these cabins to everyone I've spoken to and would book again when we need some R&R. Thanks again!

Thank you!
