Overview
Stonehenge Silo mixes the external prominence of a grain silo with the cosy comfort of a yurt. The silo contains a double bed, folding down single bed, gas powered wood burner and a long Persian divan – you’ll feel drawn to live outdoors and appreciate the beauty of your surroundings. The hot tub is a converted trough that can easily fit six people but can take over eight hours to warm up, so be sure to plan ahead! There’s a bench seating area just outside and seats all-round the BBQ which forms an amphitheatre looking over a valley. As you sit and watch the smoke drift off, keep an eye out for buzzards and kites that soar above the stand of pines as they hunt.
You’ll be 500 metres from the nearest building and completely on your own to enjoy the quiet of the countryside. The nearby Stonehenge World Heritage site has a wealth of walking trails itself and includes Woodhenge and Durrington Walls. There’s great mountain biking on Salisbury plain (as long as you stay to the half that isn’t a military firing range) and some scenic hiking in the New Forest to the south.

Meet your hosts
Meet Frank and Lou
Frank and Lou purchased Scotland Lodge Farm in 2014. They purchased the property due to the magnificent views from the farm of the Wiltshire countryside. The farm combines Lou’s passion for horses with Frank’s love of sheep; you will see plenty of both animals on Scotland Lodge Farm.
The site was initially constructed for private use but following the reaction of visits from family and friends, Lou and Frank were very quickly persuaded to advertise for short breaks and holidays.
Wildlife & the environment
You will be able to enjoy the full spectrum of wildlife that Wiltshire has to offer; the sighting of buzzards and red kites is commonplace. If you are observant, you may be able to observe the beautiful Stonechat and at dusk you may be able to spot up to 5 species of bat (Soprano pipistrelle, Common pipistrelle, Serotine, Myotis and Brown long-eared bat). As you will be on a lively farm directly opposite a nature reserve, you will be surrounded by horses and sheep and be able to spot badgers, foxes, deer and rabbits.

Would highly recommend staying here, we had a brilliant time! The Stonehenge silo is amazing and the kitchen and bathroom were excellent too. The hosts had thought of everything we may need and put some nice touches in - fairy lights, blankets, board games. The setting was stunning and Frank gave us a warm welcome, plus some great local food recommendations. Couldn’t fault our stay here!

Hosts were great - very responsive with question and left us alone to enjoy stay. Lots of recommendations for walks, sites to visit and places to eat
23/06/2023Richard
The Yurt is in a beautiful setting, tucked away in an idyllic corner. There is a beautiful small valley with a seating area which allows you to look over the gorgeous countryside and if you want to do this in style, you could view this from the fire powered hot tub. The Yurts themselves are decorated richly. The seating and beds was comfortable It is a perfect base to explore the surrounding areas- with a kitchen facility and a wonderful shower
19/06/2023Alison
A very chilled out private location. We were able to enjoy 2 long walks direct from the yurt. Frank was very prompt and on hand to resolve a couple of queries on arrival. We enjoyed the BBQ area on an evening watching gorgeous sunsets.
02/06/2023Adrian
My partner and I stayed at Stonehenge yurt for 5 days in October, we had a lovely time. The yurt was cosy and comfortable with the most comfortable bed! It was lovely to just escape to the peace and quiet without the distractions of busy every day life. We were left to enjoy ourselves undisturbed but our hosts were on hand if we needed anything
12/10/2022Sarah
Brilliant, we had such a perfect 3 days staying here. Lovely hosts, beautiful grounds, amazing facilities and one of the comfiest beds we’ve ever slept in. Would absolutely stay again and have recommended to friends.

Such an incredible place to stay- thoughtfully created to make a peaceful and relaxing experience in beautiful surroundings. Our daughter and dog enjoyed the freedom - we found some great walks with pub stops and was well placed for a visit to Stonehenge. Frank made sure we had everything we needed and the hot shower was such a bonus!
19/08/2022Karina
We wanted a relaxing break away from modern distractions with the children and dog. Stonehenge yurt ticked all the boxes and more. It has given us memories to treasure. The yurt was set in the edge of a tree line overlooking a small valley with stunning views.
10/08/2022Chris
A beautiful setting in the remote Salisbury Hills, surrounded by nature. Authentic Mongolian Yurt set amongst the trees. It was a lovely getaway for the weekend to chillout with my family. We didn't leave the site for 2 days it was bliss!
05/08/2022Jesse
We had a great stay in not one, but two yurts with lovely views over the countryside and lots of great places to visit closeby. The owner was very friendly and funny. There was a well-equipped outside kitchen and warm and clean shower/WC. We could also use the hottub with fantastic views. At first it felt a bit awkward to just move into the yurt without meeting the owner, but we met him later on. If you are looking for a quiet spot where you can feel completely on your own in magnificent surroundings, go to Stonehenge Yurt.
29/07/2022Karin

Loved the yurt and lucky to have gorgeous sunny weather. Views stunning and whole experience was magical. Especially loved that we could walk around the farmer fields from the yurt where we saw nobody. Fire pit was great fun too. Outside kitchen brilliant idea and the host was so lovely and his attention to detail was really noticeable.
13/06/2022Wendy
Magical place. Yurt well designed and furnished in stunning location. Loved seeing the horses each day. Well placed for Stonehenge. Frank is a great host.
27/05/2022Stephanie
We had a great stay on the yurt! Cozy rainy mornings (in a very comfy bed) with the amazing log burner and just such a relaxing weekend on the farm!
30/10/2021Grace
Such a peaceful stay in a beautiful location. The two of us and our dog Monty had a great time just roaming the farmland and snuggling up in the very cosy yurt. Frank was fantastic, checking to make sure we were settled on and then leaving us in peace unless we asked him for anything. Highly recommended.
26/09/2021Matthew
I chose this place as it is not too far from where I live. I wanted somewhere to take my pup for her first holiday! We had never been glamping before so this yurt seemed the perfect option.
24/09/2021Georgina
Lovely place, fab fire pit/BBQ area and Frank was an excellent host. Kitchen area had everything we needed and the hot shower was perfect!

24/07/2021Justin
lovely yurt in a great location. well equipped kitchen and bathroom too.Host was helpful - great that he could get food in for us from a local shop, particularly home-cooked meals which were lovely.
25/06/2021Jiva
Wonderful cosy yurt with lovely peaceful surroundings. There were some really nice touches such as local walk sheets meaning you could explore the area by foot straight from the yurt. Well equipped; we loved using the BBQ and the outdoor kitchen. Really great to have a lovely bathroom shed with a hot shower too. Would highly recommend!
23/06/2021Bec
Absolutely magical. Far exceeded all expectations. A real escape with perfect luxuries, beautiful setting and charming host.
11/06/2021Lucy
This was truly the ideal getaway for my girlfriend and I, the location was picturesque and remote, no noise pollution and a beautiful clear night sky, for a yurt the facilities were excellent, a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with hot water, so even the most homesick won't be put off, we cannot wait to come back and a missive thank you to our hosts who couldn't be more welcoming, the yurt was beautiful and well kept and this was a real benchmark for others.
07/06/2021James
Really enjoyed our stay, a beautiful location, plenty of privacy and all the facilities you'd need, shower works really well, kitchen had everything you'd need, inside the yurt was very nicely set out and once again had everything you'd need, even an os map and loads of suggestions for walks
28/05/2021alistair
We had a perfect stay at Stonehenge Yurt, finally getting away after many months at home in various lockdowns. It was the perfect tonic and it even managed not to rain for most of it!
16/05/2021Kerry
Lovely few days, couldn't ask for better. Even if it did rain alot!
14/05/2021Steven
We had a wonderful, original break in the gorgeous Wiltshire countryside staying in a lovely, cosy yurt. It was like an adventure; cooking in the outside kitchen when the wind was horrendous and enjoying all the different walks you can go on. Truly memorable trip.
03/05/2021Rachael
Had a lovely 3 nights in the yurt. Unfortunately weather was cold (especially in the morning) but had cosy evenings with the log burner. It was a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Shower was lovely and the yurt had everything you need
27/04/2021Angela
Brilliant...the yurt was clean spacious and very well kitted out and the views were amazing. Coupled with the host and his family being amazing and making sure we had everything we needed and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely walks around the farm and further afield which detailed maps were provided. Very private with then option to explore, with Stonehenge only 2 mins up the road, or relax and soak in the views
12/04/2021Craig
Had a wonderful 7 nights here with my wife and dog. The views are fantastic and the location itself is a great base for the attractions. Great walks on your doorstep, just walking around the land owned by Frank is stunning, lots of horses ! The yurt itself is so comfortable, warm and spacious. Kitchen and bathroom do everything they are supposed to and i was pleasantly surprised by how hot the shower was although it does make the dash back to the yurt quite bracing in the cold air ! It was great being off grid....ish (i did need my phone to message Frank for logs for the burner lol) We loved our stay and would happily return
25/10/2020Jorgen
It was possibly the wettest and windiest weekend ever! The yurt felt pretty cold when we arrived but soon was lovely and warm with the fire lit. Inside was lovely, clean and super cosy bed. Plenty of games to play. Got very dark inside as no electric lights but managed ok with the lanterns etc. Cooking in the outside kitchen was a bit challenging as rain blowing in all over the cooker top and gas flame struggled to stay lit, we had everything we needed in the kitchen and soon got a good system for boiling water for tea and dishes once we realised one hob was much better and quicker. Yurt stayed lovely and warm but by morning needed to light the fire before braving the outdoor shower, which was nice and hot once we could turn on the stiff switch. Weather really was horrendous so we didn't leave the yurt but that suited us as we'd come away to do absolutely nothing. Very nice listening to the storm outside while we were all snug with the fairy lights on playing cards by the fire. I'm sure some people would have cried and gone home but we had a great time!
02/10/2020Sally
We had the most beautiful time here! The yurt is beautiful and comfortable, and the farm is lovely. The views were spectacular and the addition of the barbecue (although we couldn't use it due to rain!), fire pit and log burner are wonderful. We enjoyed trips to Stonehenge, Bath and Salisbury during our two-night stay and had a great visit. Thank you Frank and Lou for your kindness and hospitality.
06/09/2020Emma
We had a wonderful stay at the yurt. The location and furnishing are beautiful and charming. The photos do not not do it justice. It is very cosy even in bad weather. The kitchen is well equipped- although we has our evening meals at the lovely local pubs. The guide books and walking notes provided in the yurt were a lovely touch and very helpful. We did not have children with us - but the fact that there were children’s books about Stonehenge provided shows the attention to detail. There were even cosy throws tucked away in a chest if you felt a chill. We enjoyed looking at the stars from the table outside on clear nights - and cosying up with books on the rainy ones.
19/08/2020Anneliese
What a lovely little spot - secluded, on its own surrounded by rolling farmland and trees. This is glamorous camping at its best! Huge bbq, fire pit, loads of seating, bean bags, warm shower, full kitchen, stove, etc. And a lovely grade A yurt! Will be back. NVTM
06/08/2020Nick
We stayed here for 3 nights for my partner’s birthday and had a wonderful time! Even relentless rain couldn’t ruin the experience. The yurt is stunning, clean, with lots of beautiful details. Outdoor kitchen is perfect, you can cook in the wind and rain no problem. We ordered some food from the local farm and everything was delicious. It was all waiting for us in the fridge. Mint and lamb casserole was incredible! Hosts were ever so friendly. The photos don’t do this place justice. The views from outside the yurt are gorgeous. If you like peace and quiet, nature, countryside walks, being cosy, good food, then look no further, this is the place! My partner and I are definitely coming back soon.

Fabulous couple of days in the yurt. Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lots of effort clearly gone into it. Cooked on the barbecue with the most amazing view.

lovely yurt in a great location. well equipped kitchen and bathroom too.Host was helpful - great that he could get food in for us from a local shop, particularly home-cooked meals which were lovely.

We had a perfect stay at Stonehenge Yurt, finally getting away after many months at home in various lockdowns. It was the perfect tonic and it even managed not to rain for most of it!

We had a wonderful, original break in the gorgeous Wiltshire countryside staying in a lovely, cosy yurt. It was like an adventure; cooking in the outside kitchen when the wind was horrendous and enjoying all the different walks you can go on. Truly memorable trip.

Had a lovely 3 nights in the yurt. Unfortunately weather was cold (especially in the morning) but had cosy evenings with the log burner. It was a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Shower was lovely and the yurt had everything you need

NVTM

We booked this stay to celebrate my 40th Birthday. We wanted to have a few days of complete chill out away from the world. The silo provided this and we were able to switch off & spend a few days chilling out amoung the trees.
