Overview
Picture your dream cabin. Chances are, you just imagined Daisy Chain. If you want to get away from it all and disappear into the wild in the snug surroundings of a wood cabin, you can’t do much better than this. Everything you could want comes in large helpings and there’s loads of space to stretch out, whether that’s indoors draped over the sofa by the roaring wood burner, in the outdoor bath or on the rocking chair on the large deck, as you admire the views over morning coffee. Daisy Chain sits atop a sandstone quarry wall, and if you wander down to the quarry, you’ll find the double fire pit, for either an evening’s drink fireside, or cooking up a log fuelled dinner. Lose yourself in the leather armchair after choosing a book from the library where guests are encouraged to bring, leave and take a book, while your partner makes a pizza and cooks it in the Ooni oven.
There’s also plenty to find nearby, bring your walking boots, bicycles and wetsuits, because Bewl Water Reservoir is just around the corner for a day in nature walking part or all of the 12 mile round reservoir path, trout fishing, and paddle boarding on the lake. When you’re all walked out, pop to the award-winning Bull Inn at the top of the lane for some incredible food and a cheeky drink before heading home to Daisy Chain for another unforgettable night.

Meet Stephen & Jane
Stephen grew up on a farm in Kent and Jane is a city girl at heart having grown up in London. They bought Downash Wood as a family retreat, while their kids finished their schooling in South London. Their son dreamt of a treehouse in the woodland, so Stephen spent the next three years obtaining planning permission and building their dream secluded treehouses and cabins to share with guests.
Wildlife & Environment
The treehouses and cabins are set within five acres of deciduous woodland known as Downash Wood. Downash Wood is bordered by Bewl Water Reservoir on the north side and Tinkers Lane on the south side. The land is on the borders of Kent and East Sussex, close to three ancient settlements of Three Leg Cross to the West, Ticehurst to the South and Flimwell to the East. Resident deer, active badger setts, plenty of pheasants and rabbits can be found at Downash Wood. Buzzards, woodpeckers, barn owls and other birds can be spotted, and butterflies at the right time of year. There are meadow areas with a variety of grasses and wild flowers.

Such a beautiful, well thought out cabin with everything you could possibly need! Completely secluded (unless you count the sheep!!) The outside bath is absolutely beautiful, having the fire on inside for when you get out of the bath is so nice!
16/09/2024Isobel
Our stay at Daisy Chain Cabin was utter bliss. We felt surrounded by nature and felt incredibly peaceful and recharged. We wanted something that was private, secluded, off-grid but still beautiful with mod-cons and the cabin delivered above and beyond. The surrounding area was beautiful to explore and there was lots of cool places to visit nearby like the best farm shop, country-side pubs, cool towns like Lewes and Hastings. I didn't want to leave.
30/08/2024Charlie
The Daisy Chain Cabin was exactly what we were looking for: somewhere a bit different, away from the hustle & bustle but located perfectly for our stay.
28/08/2024Bella
We enjoyed a fantastic weekend away at Daisy Chain Cabin. The design of the cabin allowed us to reconnect with nature and enjoy the full day outside, enjoying coffees on the terrace in the morning and dinning outside in the evening having fun using the pizza oven. The cabin is well located next to activities, we enjoyed going paddle boarding, road biking and mountain biking before coming back to relax with a glass of wine in the outdoor bath.

Very relaxing and peaceful

Lovely long weekend out of London in an amazing wood cabin. It was an idyllic weekend.
19/04/2024Louise
This was our third stay at Downash Wood, the first time in Daisy Chain Cabin. The cabin and furnishings are top quality, the attention to detail and cleanliness is a hundred percent. The outdoor bath is a bonus, so relaxing watching the stars. We enjoyed a Pizza evening using the Ooni Pizza oven which is supplied on the decking. If you’re looking for a total relaxing break, I would highly recommend using Canopy and Stars, you won’t be disappointed.

Me and my best friend had the most perfect, relaxing time in the cabin after Christmas. We stayed for two nights.
27/12/2023Craig
We stayed at Daisy Chain cabin for our wedding anniversary. It was wonderful! The cabin is set away from any other buildings so you don't see of hear any other guests. It is perfectly equipped with everything you could need for a long weekend away, and the outdoor bath was such a treat! We can't wait to stay again in the summer to make the most of the outdoor space and fire pit.
08/12/2023Charlene
Stay was perfect from start to finish. Really big cabin for 2 people, loved the log burner and outdoor bath and great that it had wifi and tv unlike some others. Very private and able to check in and out without needing to meet a host at a certain time. Ticehurst has great pubs, food at the bull inn is a must
04/12/2023Becky
This was our first holiday as a family of three with our 8 month old and we had the most amazing stay! Our baby was in his element exploring and going on walks around the cabin. The cabin is even more beautiful in person and completely wowed us! We had everything we needed and more. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in and the outdoor bath is magical. I wish we stayed for longer now, we'll have to come back!
20/11/2023Carina
Daisy Chain Cabin is set in perfect tranquility. As a newly lone traveller I felt safe which was important to me. The cabin was clean and well maintained with everything I needed. Every detail has clearly been well thought out. I didn't want to leave!!
25/10/2023Kathryn
The whole experience was better than expected. The cabin felt safe and secure whilst simultaneously feeling extremely free and open to the landscape. It's beautifully built and the interior made it feel very homely, with attention to small details that really made it special. We were left wanting for nothing really, and the complimentary apple juice in the fridge was so good! The shower was great and the hot water was awesome to have in a cabin in that location. The bed was really comfortable and when the lights went out it was pitch black, which was actually really nice to sleep in! The main living space was perfect, we didn't really use the inside dining table as we ate outside or on the sofa but it looked nice. Great selection of board games and a really easy to use fireplace with plenty of wood stocked up (some of the logs didn't fit in the furnace but there were so many others it didn't matter). The kitchen had pretty much every utensil we needed to cook out meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The outside porch was our favourite, with a lovely rocking bench that we got lost in the view whilst swaying away. Only criticism is we struggled with the Ooni oven.
02/10/2023Joe
A beautiful cabin in a fabulous setting - for 3 nights it was our little slice of paradise. The hardest decision we had to make was what we were going to eat next!
08/09/2023Lisa
I booked the cabin to celebrate my partner’s birthday and had a really lovely time exploring the local area and pubs. The cabin was extremely cosy and well equipped.
16/08/2023Alex
Excellent stay. The location was spot on with walks from the cabin and quirky pubs within 15 min walk. The cabin was very toddler friendly and the outdoor bathtub topped it all.
05/05/2023Emilie
Very enjoyable few days in placid, peaceful, verdant countryside.
03/04/2023Jason
Such a cosy stay in this gorgeous cabin which is complete with all the perfect extra touches. Board games by the fire, soaking up the surroundings in the outdoor bath and making pizza in the Ooni pizza oven. Exceeded our expectations.
01/02/2023Sophie
We felt quite grand arriving at the private gate & parking through little country lanes. Few steps up from the private parking, you have huge field (and sheep) and there is a cabin. When you walk into the cabin, it's very spacious with high ceilings and lots of French doors but feels very cosy, almost feel like you are in one of luxury chalets in Switzerland. Huge outdoor decking with outdoor bath & comfy rocking chair was a wow, especially lit with fairy lights at night. Love the little book corner with comfy leather chair, had lots of fun playing games in front of the cozy log burner in the evening. Stylish & well-equipped kitchen & Super comfy King sized bed, it has everything that we needed for the very relaxing stay.

We were looking for a quiet weekend away from the hustle and bustle of London ahead of the birth of our first child and found what we were looking for in Downwash Wood! Daisy Chain Cabin was overlooking a beautiful field of sheep and new lambs, quiet and tranquil it was everything we hoped it would be. The cabin was beautifully furnished and kitted out with everything you could possibly need. Blessed with great Spring weather, we spent a lot of time outside, walking around the reservoir, reading books in the deck chairs, using the pizza oven. Being 8 months pregnant, I loved the outdoor bath in particular! Despite being a mere 1hour and 30 mins drive from North London, the cabin was secluded, which is exactly what we were after. It is, however, also in walking distance to great pubs and we did a lunch at the Bell In, which was great. All in all, a wonderful experience and would love to go back!

The surrounding area was beautiful to explore and there was lots of cool places to visit nearby like the best farm shop, country-side pubs, cool towns like Lewes and Hastings. I didn't want to leave.

The Daisy Chain Cabin was exactly what we were looking for: somewhere a bit different, away from the hustle & bustle but located perfectly for our stay.

It was one of the best, most relaxing holidays I've ever had. The peace and quite, coupled with the wonderfully welcoming cabin was first rate. If you want a romantic getaway with your partner then I can highly recommend the Daisy chain cabin.

It was absolutely perfect - like a honeymoon without the wedding! The cabin was exactly as described - even better in real life that the pictures. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The location was idyllic. Couldn't have been a better trip :)

Daisy Chain Cabin is set in perfect tranquility. As a newly lone traveller I felt safe which was important to me. The cabin was clean and well maintained with everything I needed. Every detail has clearly been well thought out. I didn't want to leave!!

A beautiful cabin in a fabulous setting - for 3 nights it was our little slice of paradise. The hardest decision we had to make was what we were going to eat next!

I booked the cabin to celebrate my partner’s birthday and had a really lovely time exploring the local area and pubs. The cabin was extremely cosy and well equipped.

Excellent stay. The location was spot on with walks from the cabin and quirky pubs within 15 min walk. The cabin was very toddler friendly and the outdoor bathtub topped it all.

Very enjoyable few days in placid, peaceful, verdant countryside.

Such a cosy stay in this gorgeous cabin which is complete with all the perfect extra touches. Board games by the fire, soaking up the surroundings in the outdoor bath and making pizza in the Ooni pizza oven. Exceeded our expectations.
