Overview
This unique wood cabin was designed and hand-built by owner Zac and local onsite carpenter, Adam. Nestled among oak trees on the edge of an ancient woodland, it has a unique glass front offering breath-taking views of rolling hills and valleys and the Black Mountains of Wales beyond. Zac and his partner Sarah live with their friendly German Shepherd in their house just across the paddock, and will most likely be around to welcome you – otherwise, make yourself at home. Find a welcome hamper with all the essentials, plus a selection of goodies, such as local biscuits, crisps and cider; vegetables are usually available from the organic garden too.
Open the bifold doors in the morning and hear birdsong pour in, and enjoy breakfast on the deck – ask Zac about ordering eggs and honey from his neighbours. You can easily while away the day on the hammock or reading next to the wood-burner, but there’s plenty to do if you fancy exploring, from great walks and cycle routes straight from the door to wild swimming, canoeing or kayaking on the River Wye. Watch the sunset with a view of 7 counties from the nearby Garway Hill (you’ll find area maps with local routes in the cabin) and return for a session in the wood-fired hot tub. When it comes to dinner, you have a few options – cook up a storm in the fully-equipped kitchen, fire up the combined barbecue/pizza oven or stroll to the pub, The Fountain Inn, a minute’s walk away (open Thursday to Sunday). Return to chat around the firepit on fine nights or watch movies in the cosy nook before a tranquil night’s sleep.

Meet Sarah and Zac
Sarah has lived at Orcop TreeTops since 1987, but since meeting Zac, they have embarked on an exciting restoration of the stables, with the help of local carpenter, Adam. Sarah revels in the equestrian elements of the property, whilst Zac’s interests lie with nature and the outdoors, particularly mountain walking, road cycling and mountain biking.
With ancient woodland and abundant wildlife on the doorstep, they have been keen to promote further opportunities for biodiversity to develop through wildflower and overgrown areas, bat and bird boxes, hedgehog homes and lots of tree and hedge planting. They fully appreciate how lucky they are to live in this stunning location, with far-reaching views to the Black Mountains one way, Malvern Hills the other, and rolling Herefordshire countryside lying in between. The site maintains eco principles throughout, with locally sourced materials, water recycling, organic fields and gardening.
Wildlife & the environment
The wider area is rich in biodiversity, whilst they have nesting buzzards, with regular flybys from red kites, kestrels and sparrow hawks. You will probably bump into the odd toad, see squirrels perched on nearby trees or as visitors to the decking! At night, you may hear the Tawny owls calling and will definitely be buzzed by the pipistrelle bats as they feed on the insects. The fields are full of butterflies and grasshoppers, amongst other tiny creatures. In April/May, you can enjoy the stunning display of the bluebells in the ancient woodland nearby and surrounding the area.

"I had a wonderful two-night stay at Fifinella. Zac and Sarah have put so much thought into making the cabin both comfortable and luxurious. The location is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful woods, with lovely walks from the doorstep and stunning views that make it the perfect escape. The interiors are impressively hand-built and finished to a very high standard, with thoughtful details like fluffy towels, crisp bedding, and plenty of hot water. The secret cinema room was an added bonus. Zac was welcoming and helpful in recommending walks. I'll definitely return to this lovely place.

Its location was a big draw and rightly so the views were amazing, we cycled out, we enjoyed a wild swim and we relaxed in a wood fired hot tub admiring wonderful views. What more could you ask for. fifinella was beautifully hand built, with a lot of attention to detail. Lovely walk in shower, fluffy soft bedding, a movie room, and coffee machine and pods supplied.

Had a lovely stay at Fifinella Retreat last week with our 8 yr old son. The cabin is gorgeous and views stunning. Sunsets in the hot tub and then either a BBQ or chill by the fire pit were a real treat! The hosts are lovely and so helpful with recommendations on local spots to visit! Zac took the time to show us round the stables and introduce us to Ludo the dog which my son loved! We were all sad to leave and would definitely visit again!
26/08/2024Joanna
What a beautiful place! We relaxed in the hot tub and read in the hammock, we sat on the decking and looked at the wonderful views, and we had a movie night every night in the cinema room! This place is somewhere where you feel at one with nature but with all the luxuries of the modern world. Would highly recommend it.

What a tonic, everything about Fifinella is perfect, from lazing in the hammock with a good book, all the way through to making your own pizza in the evening with a local beer. Pure bliss.
19/06/2024Antonia
Fifinella Retreat was amazing, everything and more that we hoped for. The owners were great hosts, providing superb recommendations and with the hot tub at temperature for arrival. The setting had a view across the hills and was to a very high standard. My Daughter and I had an amazing time, from the walks to watching films in the “den”
24/05/2024Daniel
From the moment we arrived at Fifinella we felt relaxed. As we wound our way along the path through a beautiful ancient wooded area to reach the cabin we felt as if time was standing still. Fifinella is extremely well equipped with everything you need for a relaxed holiday. The hammock, hot tub, cinema room and also the absolute peace and tranquillity of the area are all wonderful. The cabin is spotlessly clean with a great shower and very comfortable bed. We were lucky with beautiful sunny weather so we did not need to use the wood burner. It is in a beautiful area with stunning views and great walks on the doorstep. Zac, Sarah and Ludo are fabulous hosts. Zac was extremely helpful with tips to make the most of our stay at the cabin and very knowledgeable and keen to share his love of the area in recommending places to visit and sights to see which made our stay very interesting. We will definitely return to stay at Fifinella again and hopefully stay in the sister lodge ‘Gainsborough’ which Zac is building and was so kind to show us. We really did not want to leave, we felt so relaxed. Our batteries had been well and truly charged.
17/05/2024Marian
We had a fabulous few days away at Fifinella. It was a great place to stay, with everything thought through brilliantly, and incredibly relaxing. Great host, lovely atmosphere, beautiful place to stay and, luckily, good weather.
03/05/2024Wendy
Our stay at Fifinella Retreat was amazing! The cabin is absolutely beautiful and has everything you could need for a few nights away. Even a dishwasher!! The bed is super comfy and the den room and secret cinema was the best place to spend the rainy afternoons. Zac and Sarah and Ludo were lovely hosts, leaving a welcome basket and even a little birthday gift. Zac and Ludo introduced themselves on the first night and they were happy to help or answer any questions. This is one of our favourite places we have stayed and we can’t wait to come back.
01/05/2024Laura
The owners have created a stunning, bespoke lodge in an extraordinary part of the UK. Fifinella Retreat was beautiful inside and out. The views were absolutely stunning and the owners have created a fabulous place to stay. The whole experience was incredible and we would not hesitate in recommending Zac and Sarah's slice of Herefordshire.

We stayed for 2 nights which were such a delight. We did have rain but that didn’t make a difference there were still things to do and enjoy like the projector room and the hot tub as well as a stash of board games. It was peaceful and well needed get away. We were welcomed by Zac as we pulled up and he was so helpful, kind and understanding. It couldn’t have been any more perfect.
14/02/2024Hannah
we love being in the country side and Fifinella was perfect! It had everything we needed to relax and unwind. The facilities were perfect and everything we needed. We gad a perfect stay at Fifinella. The cabin is BEAUTIFUL, warm and clean. The bed is super comfortable and the cinema den was awesome (we now want one), and the shower was potentially one of the best showers I’ve experienced! We used the pizza oven and the pizzas were DELICIOUS. Met the horses and ludo the dog who were all wonderful. Zac showed us around, answered all our questions, and gave some great recommendations for walks and food. If you can get to the Beefy Boys for a burger, DO. We received a lovely welcome hamper
20/11/2023Madison
My husband and I spent a long weekend at Fifinella Retreat to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. We had the most wonderful 3 nights there. The house is beautifully designed and set in stunning countryside. The owners have paid so much attention to all of the little details to make it a truly luxurious, peaceful and comfortable stay. The wood-fired hot tub and log burner were fab, as was the movie den on a wet and windy November day! The views from the retreat are beautiful and there is plenty to do in the local area. Highlights included climbing up Garway Hill and Sunday lunch at The Bookshop in Hereford. Zac, the owner, was extremely accommodating and helpful and we really appreciated the welcome hamper and gift which he left for our anniversary. Fifinella made for the perfect escape from the city and we left feeling so relaxed and refreshed! We will definitely be back again.
03/11/2023Ketiwe

21/08/2023Mary
We had a great couple of nights staying at Fifinella. Zach and Sarah were great, helpful and friendly hosts, who made us feel very well looked after. We enjoyed being in the cabin, and also exploring the local countryside and towns. The only bad thing was that we wanted to stay longer!
16/08/2023Anjan
Our stay was amazing. The cabin was beautiful, we could happily have stayed there the whole time without venturing out! We had great hosts, on hand to support with any questions and a great experience all round.
28/07/2023Katie
Fifinella is absolutely exquisitely designed and made with such attention to detail, Zac really has thought of absolutely everything you could want for a chilled out place to stay. A perfect and very accommodating host too; nothing was too much trouble and had a bunch of excellent recommendations for things to do around the area. Though we didn’t leave for 3 days, we were more than happy to just totally switch off and enjoy the view and the breeze coming through the bi-fold doors. Our little boy was totally content with lounging in the cinema den and exploring the woods. One of, if not THE best staycation we’ve done, and we’ve done a lot of these. Fifinella is the perfect balance between luxury, comfort, nature, chilling out, switching off and regenerating energy. The calmest and most peace inducing cabin in the UK.
21/07/2023David
Absolutely breathtaking stay at Fifinella. From the moment we entered, we were blown away by the sheer attention to detail - it feels like something straight out of Grand Designs! Highlights included making delicious pizzas in the wood fired pizza oven; looking up at the gorgeous tree canopy and stars in the hot tub and snuggling up in the den watching a film on the projector. Zac our host was wonderfully attentive and even recommended some lovely walks which we thoroughly enjoyed. All in all, a wonderful place to make memories!
14/07/2023Sophie
What a find! We had a fantastic stay at Fifinella Retreat. It really is an idyllic spot to enjoy some peace and quiet and the beautiful Herefordshire views. Zac couldn’t be more helpful and he and Sarah have really thought of everything to ensure your stay is as wonderful as it can be - from firing the hot-tub up for when you arrive, to delivering the pizza oven with all the ingredients to all the finishing touches in the cabin. The cabin itself is gorgeous - our children adored the secret den! We couldn’t have asked for more and didn’t want to leave!
26/05/2023Gemma
Wow, what a fantastic cabin. Attention to detail in the design of the building is awesome. Location is beautiful and the owners are incredibly helpful and kind. The only negative was that we didn’t book for an even longer stay! We will definitely be heading back!
19/05/2023Tom
Wow. Fifinella is a beautiful cabin in a perfect quiet setting with added wow factor. Amazing touches (the cinema room, the hot tub, and chocolate Easter bunnies hidden around the cabin), great location with walks from the cabin as well as within driving distance, and fantastic hosts who even collected us on Sunday afternoon after a 5 mile walk to a local pub. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Zac, Sarah and Ludo for being the perfect hosts and sharing your lovely retreat! Will be back to experience the new one!
07/04/2023Alex
a Wonderful 3 nights staying at Fifinella. the accommodation was incredible, the setting perfect, and the hosts had provided everything we needed for a wonderful stay. Whilst the beautiful countryside around is spectacular, we could have easily stayed at Fifinella all 3 days and not ventured out. It was a truly wonderful restorative break.
24/03/2023Guy
It was absolutely lovely. The most relaxing break we have ever had.
13/03/2023Georgia
My boyfriend and I had a brilliant stay at Fifinella retreat, a beautiful cabin which really had the wow factor! It was perfectly placed to explore Herefordshire with a brilliant pub just round the corner, and Zac gave us a warm welcome and tips for local walks. The cinema room and hot tub were a great way to unwind after spending our days walking and exploring. Would definitely recommend!
10/03/2023Yasmin
We had an amazing stay at Fifinella. It was a great location and the retreat was amazing. We needed a break away from everything and this was the perfect place for it. The hosts were great and very helpful and friendly.
06/03/2023Michelle
We had a wonderful stay at Fifinella in Orcop. The cabin itself is designed to a really high spec with everything that you need. It was really warm, comfortable and cosy and the den, where you can chill out and watch films, is a great addition…as is the large hot tub outside! Zac was a brilliant host who gave us loads of info on the local area and even picked us up from the pub! The cabin is surrounded by lovely countryside for great walks. And there are other fab places to drive to for days out. The local pub, literally 1 min walk away, was super friendly and does the most delicious Thai food. Would definitely recommend a stay here
03/03/2023Cindy
One of the best cabins I've ever stayed in The attention to detail is superb and i just felt a calmness come over me whilst staying here. Its minimalist Scandi style really did wonders clearing my mind! This place really does have everything. Incredible interiors, wonderful sunsets, great local walks & a lovely hot tub and outdoor area. The jewel in the crown is the retractable cinema screen & projector in the little space under the nook. Such a cool space to unwind and watch a movie in. Lovely little modern touches and surprises to discover during your stay too.! Absolutely first class.

A really lovely place to stay when exploring the Wye Valley and Wales. One of the nicest cabins we've stayed in and had everything we needed. Quiet, easy to find, and very friendly owners who provided plenty of tips on where to visit and eat nearby. Loved the wood fired hot tub and the fire inside - perfect on chilly winter nights! The welcome hamper was a nice touch and would highly recommend trying the local pub for the Thai food.

An absolutely gorgeous stay, honestly cannot fault it at all. Location gives beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and fifinella itself feels truly special.

We had the most fantastic stay at Fifinella Retreat. It was exactly what we were looking for - pretty off grid but with all your modern luxuries. The hot tub under the stars was a real highlight, as was the most attentive and friendly host, Zac! Zac was absolutely amazing, and did everything he could to make our stay exactly as we liked it. From gifting a oak sapling for my fiance's birthday, to organising a visit to his friend's farm, to making sure we had everything we needed. We also got a gift basket which was really really nice! The place itself was amazing too, immaculate and luxurious. Would highly recommend!
13/01/2023Denise
The cabin was gorgeous, the views were perfect and just made our trip amazing. The blinds were electronic and made it feel very hi-tech whilst maintaining the feel of being off the grid with the wood burner fire and remote location.

Me and my girlfriend went for her birthday for 3 nights, the place was beautiful, the people were so welcoming and helpful.the place we stayed was unbelievable and we definitely will be going again.

We spent theee nights at Fifinella resort. It was perfect, we could not have had a better time and we did not want to leave. Hot tubbing under the stars, a cozy and modern cinema room, beautiful views from the cabin, a cozy fireplace and all the modern amenities made for a lovely relaxing stay. There are great walks, cycles and pubs in the surrounding area. Zac was a friendly and attentive host who paid great attention to detail. He even left an oak sapling as a gift for my birthday. He also picked us up from the pub one evening and had great insight into activities in the surrounding area. Can’t wait to go back, Fifinella really has it all for a tranquil and aesthetic stay.

Fifinella is a real slice of heaven! We went to celebrate my partners birthday and it was an absolute treat. The space Zac and Sophie have created is so impressive and blends in beautifully with the surrounding nature. The hot tub was a lovely touch and the pizza oven was a great experience to try! Zac really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and he stay was more than we could have hoped for. We definitely recommend taking a walk up Garway hill the views were breathtaking!

Completely perfect place for a peaceful, cosy and unique escape. The retreat itself is so incredibly well designed and thought through, it is just amazing. The hot tub is awesome and the home cinema screen was so great! Really thoughtful hamper of local food upon arrival and such a lovely gesture of an oak sapling for my birthday which we have planted at home to remind us to book Fifinella on an annual basis!

We had a two night break at the Fifinella retreat early November and left wishing we had made our break longer because we loved it so much. The cabin it's self was fabulous, spacious but at the same time very cosy especially with the logburner going. Views while sat on the sofa overlooking the paddocks and distant hills made it the perfect place to relax. We managed a little time in the hot tub in-between the November downpours, which again added to our very relaxing stay. Our hosts were very welcoming and offered great advice on the best places for food and walks. We had the pleasure of eating in the local Fountain Inn pub one night and all we can say is the food and company was second to none, the authentic Thai cuisine was fabulous. All in all we had a great time and plan on getting back there soon.

We had a wonderful time at Fifinella retreat. It was such a relaxing environment and the design of the retreat was very well thought out. The wood fired hot tub was a lovely addition to the retreat and we definitely made the most of it after long days out doing activities. The secret den was a great idea and we really enjoyed relaxing watching a film in there.
19/09/2022Daisy
We had an amazing weekend away and didn't want to leave! The views are stunning out the front, and we really enjoyed snuggling down in the den to watch tv and relax. Zac was incredibly friendly and helpful, and Ludo (the dog) was very lovely even if he doesn't quite understand Fetch yet! The attention to detail in the cabin was amazing, and the different gadgets (such as electronic blinds) have definitely give us some inspiration to take home!
15/09/2022Fran
The stay was amazing, Bigger than most and had a range of facilities. Close to towns, villages and activities. Definely best one if the best cabins we stayed. We have been to five other ones. Defintely recommend this. And will be coming again.

Our stay at Fifinella was truly amazing and we couldn’t fault anything! Zac and Sarah were so accommodating and my partner Ash was so grateful for the thoughtful Ash tree you gave him for his birthday plus the lovely welcome hamper! The facilities were all excellent, especially the hot tub, pizza oven and cinema room (which we are jealous is not in our flat at home)! The setting was beautiful with stunning views surrounded by nature. The pub a minute walk away was also fab, with a friendly atmosphere and great food. Our stay was the perfect escape from city life and we would love to visit again.
12/08/2022Lizzie
We had a wonderful relaxing 4 nights, swinging in the hammock, soaking in the hot tub and enjoying the surrounding area. A walk up Garway Hill is a must, the views were outstanding. We went wild swimming at Skenfrith Castle and enjoyed one of the best Thai curries at the local pub, The Fountain Inn. The Cabin was very well equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

We really enjoyed Fifinella retreat, was a great location in Herofordshire. The Den and the wood fired hot tub were excellent definitely what we wanted out of a long weekend away. Also learned how to groom and clean a horse which is a plus. Zac and Sarah were brilliant hosts and went above and beyond to make our weekend away to celebrate my girlfriends birthday a special occasion.

We had the most fabulous stay at Fifinella retreat! Especially liked the hot tub! Fifinella is situated in a wonderful wooded area so very peaceful and relaxing. We had a lovely meal at The WhiteBrooks restaurant in Monmouth. Zac was very attentive and showed us some great cycle routes on the map! Looking forward to staying again at some point! Thank you!

It was wonderful. Fifinella is a wonderful place to retreat from the world for a few days. The place is beautiful, and the countryside around it stunning and great small market towns and villages within easy reach
25/04/2022Nicola
Our stay at Fifinella was amazing. We took our 5 year old and 13 year old and they both had an amazing time. The host was so kind that they hid several Easter eggs in the cabin and on the grounds, this made my sons stay extra special. Zac and Sarah have thought of everything, the cabin, the den, the lighting, the hot tub and even the down to the information they provide you with local pubs and walks etc. We felt so relaxed, there is something for everyone here. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.
15/04/2022Pav
Absolutely stunning wood cabin that is furnished with some top brand equipment. The walk-in rain shower was especially amazing. Opening the bi-fold doors on a sunny day was a fabulous feeling to enjoy the rolling hills vista. Slept comfortably and the the kids loved the den for playing games and movies. The host, Zac, was super friendly and so accommodating. Would not hesitate to recommend.
04/04/2022Michael
We had the most amazing time at Fifinella celebrating our 11 year Anniversary. The hot tub, bbq/pizza oven and cinema room was spot on, we wouldn’t have changed anything. Thank you Zac for making our stay even more special by leaving us a Anniversary gift and card. We can’t wait to come back again later in the year! 100% would recommend. Sophie and Alan
21/03/2022Sophie
We loved it. The views are stunning and the cabin catches the most gorgeous light throughout the day. Everything was such high quality and Zac was on hand to help when we needed it.
11/03/2022Katharine
We loved it. The C&S listing got us very excited and it still exceeded our expectations with the little touches and the friendly and helpful hosts. The cabin is the nicest we've seen and it's in our favourite part of the country. I would highly recommend it.

We had a beautiful weekend at Fifinella. The weather, the location and the retreat itself were all perfect. We were celebrating my husbands 50th birthday and the hot tub, the gorgeous view and the secret cinema were all highlights of our celebration.

We had the most amazing time. The cabin was so cozy and homely. Zac & Sarah are very friendly and always willing to help. The views are beautiful - when it’s not raining. Definitely worth every penny. We will be back again in the warmer months.
14/02/2022Robyn
The place was amazing!! Every little detail was though about from the electric blinds to the blankets in the cinema room. I’ve never been to such luxurious cabin before. I don’t have a bad word to say about it!
07/02/2022Molliemay
Had a wonderful stay during Christmas. The owner has taken great care in making the cabin high spec and yet cosy with personal touches.
24/12/2021Ankita
Our stay at Fifinella Retreat was wonderful! Everything was perfect with the owners adding such thoughtful and personal touches - they had carved pumpkins for our halloween stay and there was a hamper of local produce which was lovely. The secret cinema / den was such a great addition to what we have stayed in previously and the cabin was in the perfect position and got the sunlight all day! Great location with plenty of local walks and we went to the local town of Ross-on-Wye which was a 15/20 minute drive away.
29/10/2021Abi

The cabin was beautifully designed with everything you could need for a short stay. We stayed 4 nights and wished it was longer. The hosts were lovely which was an extra bonus. The kitchen was great, the shower was amazing, and the den was fantastic! Can't wait to come back.
04/10/2021Heather
Was secluded in its own setting but still close to amenities and not too far off the motorway for easy travelling. Also was the right combination of woodland retreat but practical mod cons
01/10/2021Jennifer
Beautiful location - amazing views over the hills which the floor to ceiling windows maximised. Cabin had been recently built and had an excellent finish. Lovely touches such as the welcome hamper, wood for the wood burner and hot tub + BBQ coals etc. Host Zac was very friendly and helpful, made us feel very welcome.
27/09/2021Felicity
The Fifinella Retreat is exquisite - a magical retreat in nature and sparkling clean. The owners were great, friendly and welcoming and available for any questions we had throughout. The actual cabin is even more beautiful than the photos! - surrounded by mature oaks and a wildflower meadow. All appliances/ fittings/ bathroom/ kitchen etc were very high spec with LOTS of power sockets. The hot tub/ hammock/ fire pit/ log burner/ movie snug etc all felt so luxurious and such a treat. There were lots of thoughtful touches - fresh flowers, berries, vegan milk, fresh eggs and bread from the neighbour and a hand written card and gift of a birch sapling from their woodland for us to take home and plant in our garden. It was a fabulous experience surrounded by peaceful countryside with magnificent views and we HIGHLY recommend it.

Thank you so much for an amazing stay at Fifinella. No detail has been missed in this extraordinary cabin, the cinema nook was amazing and the views from the glass front were breathtaking. Opening the bi-folding doors in the morning and hearing the birdsong pour into the cabin was so relaxing and just what we needed. The welcome hamper with local produce was such a lovely touch! A very special space, we hope to return.

Pure bliss.

Wow, what a fantastic cabin. Attention to detail in the design of the building is awesome. Location is beautiful and the owners are incredibly helpful and kind. The only negative was that we didn’t book for an even longer stay! We will definitely be heading back!

Will be back to experience the new one!

a Wonderful 3 nights staying at Fifinella. the accommodation was incredible, the setting perfect, and the hosts had provided everything we needed for a wonderful stay.

The place itself was amazing too, immaculate and luxurious. Would highly recommend!

We loved it. The views are stunning and the cabin catches the most gorgeous light throughout the day. Everything was such high quality and Zac was on hand to help when we needed it.

The place was amazing!! Every little detail was though about from the electric blinds to the blankets in the cinema room. I’ve never been to such luxurious cabin before. I don’t have a bad word to say about it!

Had a wonderful stay during Christmas. The owner has taken great care in making the cabin high spec and yet cosy with personal touches.

The cabin was beautifully designed with everything you could need for a short stay. We stayed 4 nights and wished it was longer. The hosts were lovely which was an extra bonus. The kitchen was great, the shower was amazing, and the den was fantastic! Can't wait to come back.

Was secluded in its own setting but still close to amenities and not too far off the motorway for easy travelling. Also was the right combination of woodland retreat but practical mod cons
