Overview
Follow a winding farm track and a footpath across a meadow through 30 acres of ancient woodland to magical Sapperton Yurt. The spectacular yurt is a dream in cream canvas, a traditional Kyrgyz design handmade in Devon by Yurts for Life. Sink into the supremely comfortable double bed, lounge on the bean bags surrounded by rugs and throws in the cosy space warmed by the wood-burning stove. Outside you have your hot tub, the large deck invites loafing, while the outdoor kitchen has everything you could need to cook up a storm. What more could you want? How about a roll-top bath tub in a horsebox? Well, that’s lucky. Just lower the tailgate, fill the tub, soak in the hot water and enjoy the view of the woods. There’s even bubble bath. A few steps away is a fire pit with log seating and a hammock for those lazy summer days. And when the call of nature comes, visit the loo with a view!
Westley Farm is at the head of the Golden Valley, inside the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – and only 90 minutes from London. The farm has long valued its natural environment and the owners manage its 70 acres sensitively to encourage wildlife habitats. You may well see kestrels, buzzards, owls, badgers, rare butterflies, foxes and deer as well as the sheep and cattle that graze the fields. Orchids, red cowslips, wild poppies and mallow grow in the meadows and woods on the farm. If you time your visit right, you’ll find wild blackberries and even wild raspberries growing at your yurt door. Strings of solar lights illuminate the deck and surrounding area, but on clear nights switch them off for the some incredible stargazing.

Meet Ali & Dan
Ali and Dan bought Westley Farm in 2017, having spent years searching for the most beautiful place to live with their family while being close to nature and far away from just about everything else. The previous owners set up the 16-foot Sapperton Yurt and after a break of a couple of years Ali and Dan have decided to bring the site back to life, infusing it with their own sense of style and adventure.
In 2018, they added Gold Rush Cabin to Westley Farm, inspired by their time living in the American West and stories of the crazyhearts and dreamers who sped west in search of gold. The result is a little piece of Americana in the heart of the Cotswolds.
In 2019, they added another space, the Zen Den to Westley Farm, a unique cedar cabin in the woods. A year later, they added Yurt Reynolds, a gorgeous yurt with a cool camp kitchen and a canvas bathhouse.
In 2023, they added the Arcadia to Westley Farm, a stunning cabin tucked away in the woods with a beautiful handmade swing seat for guests to enjoy.
Wildlife & Environment
The woods at Westly Farm are teeming with wildlife and part of the charm of staying is simply walking around the fields and forest. 80 acres of nature on the farm (which is available for guests to explore) is under Natural England Higher Stewardship scheme, so maintained in low impact, species friendly manner.
Everyone there is doing their best to encourage rare butterfly breeds here with the help of Natural England. Though not overly impressive to look at, its success here is important as it only breeds on one other site in Gloucestershire, which happens to be nearby. As part of their Higher Level Stewardship, they commissioned a professional survey of their flora and fauna and discovered, among other things, that they have dormice in the woods. Rabbits are everywhere and the scrub is a refuge for many small mammals, beetles and plenty of nectar for bees and butterflies. You are bound to see deer, buzzards, hawks and bats, and hear the hoot of owls and the bark of foxes. In summer, orchids thrive in the wildflower meadow.

Our guests say...
Rebecca
A blissful, woodland retreat that offered solitude, peace and natural surroundings. We loved the comfy bed, crisp white bedding, the supplied robes, fresh flowers and.........everything!! Dan was super helpful when we couldn't get the wooden hot tub to work (it leaked for some strange reason) and when the lock ceased on the yurt (there is an alan key hanging inside). The huge roll top bath tub open on one side to the woodland became a daily treat as was sitting on the wicker settee to watch the wild deer and listen to the birdsong. We took a walk directly from the yurt which proved longer than stated and involved quite a steep path, to the Lavender Bakehouse. Don't do what we did and walk back along the main road as the path runs out and it becomes a bit dangerous. There is an amazing walk along the canal path which is SO picturesque we'd recommend it. I suffer with back issues but if I'd have been fitter we'd definitely have done more of the walks. So idyllic, romantic and secluded we'd recommend it to any couple.

Enjoyable, comfortable, well equipped yurt in beautiful peaceful and quiet surroundings
21/08/2023Cheryl
The Yurt was set on a platform high in the forest. It was a beautiful peaceful setting but relatively easy to walk down through the valley to access the extensive network of walks. Very comfortable and cosy Yurt with a nice hot outdoor shower and great mood lighting. Cooking facilities great and I had everything I could possibly need

What a fantastic weekend spent at Sapperton yurt! Really beautiful place nestled at the edge of the forest. Such a peaceful experience. We enjoyed the outdoor bathtub looking out into the forest, cooking on the fire, lying in the hammock, sitting in the hot tub under the stars and our regular fox visitor each evening. Really sustainable way to holiday with lots of green products and very little energy/ water use. Ali and Dan were super helpful and had thought of everything to ensure we had a relaxing stay. Highly recommend the hampers and the granola is scrumptious. Kids really loved being there too and we can’t wait to return!

Our stay at Westley Farm was wonderful. Sapperton Yurt was tucked away in the trees, secluded from anyone else, a really peaceful little hideaway. The yurt itself was very comfortable and surprisingly big! The running hot and cold water was a treat and the horse box shower was amazing. It’s not often you get the chance to bathe in the woods too! The hot tub took a while to heat up but it was worth the wait. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and offered some good walks and country pubs. Ali and Dan were very helpful and our son was very excited to collect the eggs with Ali one morning. We had a lovely peaceful holiday and would highly recommend a stay at Westley Farm.

A lovely glamming experience. Friendly host. Great location. Very peaceful. Great walks to a local pub and deli food shop. Very accessible.

I stayed for four nights by myself at Sapperton Yurt. The instructions ahead of time from the owners were really clear and easy to follow. When I arrived the place was spotless and welcoming with all the outside lights making it look magical. The site was incredibly well appointed and very comfortable. Lots of great details that really made it special eg: fresh flowers, fresh herbs in the kitchen, lots of organic products, towels and robes - it was lovely.

We had a wonderful, peaceful stay at Westley Farm.
04/10/2021Tyler
beautiful secluded yurt, hidden in the trees. We LOVED the horse box bath, it was huge so we soaked ourselves together with views of the woodland with lots of wonderful smelling bubble bath. It was such a luxurious treat! The yurt was beautiful as well, with rugs and blankets and very comfy bed and wood burner that kept us warm in the chilly evenings and mornings. Also had a great kitchen with good selection of pots/pans/plates/cutlery etc and although it rained too much to eat outside or cook on the outside fire, we were able to create some delicious meals on the gas burners. Little extras such as a cup of beautiful fresh herbs, and a game of dominoes made the stay even more enjoyable.
27/09/2021suzy
Had a lovely break here, the location was fantastic! secluded woodland with everything we needed in the kitchen and yurt. There was such attention to detail, fresh flowers, fresh herbs by the kitchen. The open air woodland bath was liberating! A very special place. Ali and Dan were fabulously warm hosts. Very much looking forward to our next visit.
27/08/2021Zhenya
Fantastic stay in a very tranquil setting. We were concerned about having booked in a heatwave but the yurt was wonderfully placed under the trees with both sun and shade. The yurt was cool to sleep in and we slept soundly.
19/07/2021Mrs
Sapperton yurt was an absolute gem, it was our first experience glamping and it exceed the expectation in every way! The yurt was bright and cosy, comfy beddings were provided for kids. Outdoor kitchen & decking area were my favourite, we managed to have our breakfast/dinner everyday outdoor during the stay and it was so nice & able to watch stars in comfy deck chairs at night. It's so close to Cotswold water park/nice farm shops which was a bonus and really nice food in the nearby pubs (2-5 min drive). Ali & Dan were really pleasant and informative, and thanks for Freshly laid eggs!
16/07/2021Kelly
What a truly beautiful place. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be coming back. Being at one with nature - so so special especially after lockdown.
18/06/2021Nicola
Lovely woodland break over half term. The kids attended Forest School in the nearby woodland and loved it so much they went back the next day! Lots of attention to detail in making the yurt special - fresh wild flowers, sheepskin rugs, fairy lights, equipment for cooking on an open fire, as well as on the gas hob.
31/05/2021Debs
Awesome weekend break in a beautiful spot with brilliant facilities for yurt glamping!
30/04/2021John
Great location, yurt was very comfortable and well equipped.
26/04/2021Christine
We had the most wonderful break in this magical and tranquil setting, the perfect place to unwind after an incredibly stressful year. This is glamping at its best - the perfect place in a perfect space, and plenty of that - the yurt is warm and comfy, and we had our own private area of woods with massive deck, fire pit, hammock and the roll top bath in the horsebox is the ultimate in luxury. Loved every moment
23/04/2021Pauline
We had an amazing time. The yurt, the location and the surrounding area were all beautiful.
30/09/2019Nicola
We have just returned from a short break and I honestly cannot recommend this break highly enough! The little details that Ali and Dan go to make all the difference. We arrived early but that was no issue, we were welcomed to wonder the farm and admire the views and then shortly after we were shown to Sapperton Yurt where we were staying. The Yurt is amazing; it’s equipped with everything you can think of and those little touches like flowers on the table and eggs, milk, sugar, coffee, tea all waiting along with the games and cards that are in the yurt, toiletries for the outside shower and bath, towels... there wasn’t anything that we needed to bring! Waking up and sitting on the decking or listening to the birds and wildlife along with your morning coffee in the outside bath was just complete bliss! Thank you so much Ali and Dan for just a wonderful break, we can’t wait to book again!
13/05/2019Natasha
I had a wonderful time in the Sapperton yurt. I stayed 4nights ,the first 2 on my own which was so relaxing then was joined by my brother and daughter. The yurt was beautiful and the bath in the horse box a real treat. I would love to return one day.
17/09/2018Anne
As a family of 4 with 2 boys aged 12 and 8 we had a fabulous time at Sapperton Yurt, we had so many new and lovly experiences and the yurt was so well equipped, better than our holiday lodge we stayed afterwards. It was so clean and the fact you almost have your own woodland, it was the best thing the boys had experienced, especially at night. A very comforting stay and we would highly recommend. Trek to and from the car with your stuff can be a bit hard going so make sure you have sensible footwear
10/08/2018Christine
My happy place. Interesting and charming yurt set on a hill in a forest on a farm. Friendly hosts. Very cool outdoor kitchen. Memorable outdoor bath experience. Inside of yurt warm, cozy.

Magical weekend for our family of 5. The yurt is beautifully presented and exceptionally well equipped. The setting is wonderful and the horsebox bath is such a fun feature... we couldn't get the children out of it!

Loved every moment

I had a wonderful time in the Sapperton yurt. I stayed 4nights ,the first 2 on my own which was so relaxing then was joined by my brother and daughter. The yurt was beautiful and the bath in the horse box a real treat. I would love to return one day.

We're super excited to see the return of Westley Farm and welcoming Dan and Ali to the Canopy & Stars family. This beautiful new yurt is a great addition to the collection, with its wild wash experience!
