Overview
Named after a character in a Fitzgerald novel, Tanaduke is peppered with Art Deco luxuries like a vintage chest, potted palms, and geometric prints. With dark sheepskins, white canvas and flashes of silver he truly is a Bright Young Thing. Your neighbouring yurt Hildegarde is a little further up the field, so booking both together as a group would be great fun, but they really are quite private too if you want to book just one. You'll each have outdoor space with great views and chunky logs to sit around the camp fire. The king size bed and glam Directors Chairs are perfect for lounging on whilst reading classics or playing a good old fashioned game of dominoes. There’s also a wood burner, kitchenette and wash basin, and you can have two extra mattresses laid out so your little guys and dolls can camp along too.
Outside past the lovely fallen barn and lantern-lit trees and next to the farmhouse about 50 m away, you'll find the hay barn with its pastel-coloured beach hut bathrooms (you’ll have a key for your own private booth). Say hello to Maggie and Henry Weston (an ode to the cider consumed in lockdown!), Mrs Mills' very friendly cats. There's also a communal snug in here with blankets and board games. Tea and buns are served in the communal kitchen (when it rains, you get extra!), a very short walk from your yurt.
Mrs Mills has fine taste in food and rubs shoulders with all the best local producers, having given up the high life managing La Fromagerie in London - you'll see for yourself in the complimentary breakfast hamper delivered to you on your first morning. For supper, take one of Mrs Mills’ delicious One Pots to heat up on the stove and sourdough bread to mop it up, then finish off with some homemade marshmallows for the camp fire and a foraged cocktail! To burn it all off again, make dens in the ancient trees or go canoeing along the Wye.
***If you book all four yurts together, you can pitch three more tents at £20 per tent per night. Please call 0117 204 7830 to book***

Meet your hosts
Meet "Mrs Mills" Nicola:
Nicola and her young family took on the huge project of restoring the derelict listed farmhouse 3 years ago and traded in her life in the big smoke (running La Fromagerie!). She's an expert on fine foods and will let you in on all the best local secrets and cook you up some delicious food. Mrs Mills not-so-secretly wishes she lived in the Jazz Age and picked vintage trinkets and colonial wonders to fill her yurts with.
Mrs Mills Senior (Nicola's lovely mother in law Linda) also helps out. She taught Nicola everything she knows about baking and, quite frankly, it's a treat if you get to sample her scones!
Wildlife & Environment:
The land is on the slopes of May Hill which is a National Trust Landmark between Ross-on-Wye and Gloucester. Climbing to the summit (approx 30-40 minutes walk) will see you at around 300 m high with far reaching views across the Malverns, The Severn Valley and Wales. There are wild ponies on the hill and rare breed protected cattle. The wildflowers are also stunning – a Bluebell picnic on the handcrafted bench is a must.
There is also a nature trail in the old quarry to the west of the property (also a very easy 45 minute walk) where you will see birds of prey and many wild flowers.

We had a fabulous time at the camping site. The Yurt was very comfy and cosy and had all we needed. Good private bathroom. Beautiful location, lots of space for children to play and space to sit out and dine. Great communal kitchen with good equipment. Lovely breakfast on first day and many more extras from the hosts.

We've just returned from a brilliant 4-night family escape at Mrs Mills Yurts and we all absolutely loved it! From Nicola's warm welcome to the beautiful yurt, amazing breakfast hamper, fab hot tub, excellent facilities and gorgeous grounds, we couldn't have asked for more - and Nicola couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Having two young children (one under 2), it was the perfect balance of enjoying the great outdoors but also having access to our own private bathroom as well as a kitchen with fridge, kettle and microwave. The kids absolutely loved the wood-fired hot tub and we could barely keep them out! We walked up May Hill, cycled the Forest of Dean family trail and did Go Ape (all of which I'd also recommend), but we also had just as much fun back at the yurt, cooking our meals over the fire, splashing in the hot tub, playing in the grounds and visiting the goats and ducks. Thanks so much for a fab stay Nicola! We don't normally visit the same place twice as we like to mix it up, but I think we'll be back :-)

Just wow. From the moment we got there, till the moment we left what a wonderful weekend. So many unique touches that made the stay special and the hostess was wonderfully welcoming and friendly. The accommodation was wonderful and we all loved the log fired hot tub. The Saturday night we paid to try some of the one pot meals, which were left in your own fridge to cook on the stove. An amazing breakfast hamper was dropped off at our door the Saturday morning still warm and fresh. Just everything about the weekend was wonderful, and the whole family thoroughly loved the stay and felt chilled out and relaxed. Would highly recommend and have even had friends book for the summer on the back of it.

Can’t rate the stay highly enough. The owner was lovely and nothing was a problem. Breakfast was amazing and the dinner we ordered delicious.
15/05/2022Sam
Amazing beautiful yurt, friendly and relaxed. Really enjoyed ourselves here and would definitely come back. Perfect for kids too. Our little boy loved chasing the chickens and running round.

Where do I begin … Nicola gave us a lovely welcome, even left cake for everyone in the kitchen, explained everything to us, had our hot tub warm and ready ? Ordered some food off hr for our evening meal ( amazing) had it over a candle light dinner in the yurt
11/03/2022Joy
Had the nicest couple of nights stay. The Yurt was amazing, so cosy, hot tub was brilliant, much nicer than your usual hot tubs. Nicola is a brilliant host and nothing was too much trouble. We ordered a couple of her one pot meals to cook on the stove and they were absolutely delicious and would 100% recommend. Already looking at dates for next year to visit again.
01/10/2021Louisa
We had the most relaxed and luxurious stay in Tanaduke - our yurt. Every small detail had been thought about and the site is just lovely.
14/06/2021Kathryn
We had a really fantastic weekend in Mrs Mills' Yurts. The site was gorgeous and great for kids to explore and lots of walks nearby. It is really beautiful but also very private if you want a adult break. Our Yurt (Tanaduke) was wonderful and Nicola had thought of everything. The breakfast hamper was incredible and full of delicious local produce- enough for 2 or 3 breakfasts! Nicola also does food you can order for the evening to cook on your woodburner (it was very wet so no BBQ for us) and her cooking is delicious. It made the weekend so relaxing. She also had our hot tub ready when we arrived. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the British weather but despite that we had a fun, relaxing and luxurious weekend. We are definitely going to go back.
22/05/2021Angela
Absolutely lovely, every detail was thought of and the touch of the breakfast hamper was brilliant. We also loved that some homemade cakes were left for us one day! Despite COVID Nicola still found a way to make the stay personal and special.
06/10/2020Tamsin
Fantastic stay - the campsite and surrounding countryside was beautiful, and the host had thought of everything. Hot tub, waterfall shower, woodburner, complementary homemade cakes, overflowing breakfast hamper... The best of all possible worlds.
08/09/2019Thomas
Tanaduke is a wonderfully luxurious yurt, that takes you back in time in a easy and subtle way. The attention to detail is incredible, from personal touches, to clever decoration that doesn't compromise the usability of the yurt. We wanted for nothing, we had the best of the great outdoors - cooking on open fire, toasting marshmallows and a hot tub with stunning views. (And the modern comforts - hot showers, kitchen facilities and somewhere to go if the weather turned.) Nicola was an outstanding host, who made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. If you visit you must order food - presented beautiful and super tasty, we are really spoilt. The weekend was over too quickly, and we will hope to return in the future. Perfect get away, even with an energetic toddler!
31/05/2019Louise
Fantastic location, excellent hosts and first class accommodation/food. I could not rate this place high enough and would thoroughly thoroughly recommend.
18/05/2019Stewart
A lovely warm welcome, the owner was on hand when needed, great location, lots to do and see.
02/03/2019Emily
Perfect! Relaxing break! Hot tub was a bonus - our 14 year old loved it and was a chance for all of us to disconnect.
20/08/2018Emma
It was really good so much attention to detail. Our host Mrs Mills was beyond helpful from the friendly emails when arranging our visit to the homemade scones and hampers on arrival to helping us light a fire. We had a brilliant holiday I would highly recommend it!
15/06/2018Kerry
We stayed for 3 nights with relaxation in mind, we had a brilliant time and it was just the setting that we needed to unwind. From our host to our accommodation and facilities were absolutely faultless and we couldn't have asked for a better trip away.

Our stay in Tanaduke at Mrs Mills yurts was everything we hoped it would be and more . The yurt was spacious, yet cosy and comfortable and in a beautiful location . It was not too tricky to find and lots of lovely places to walk in the area that was all clearly detailed in the welcome pack . Mrs Mills was so accommodating and helpful and had thought of everything you might need available to you . The bathroom and toilet was in a separate building and was very clean , with luxurious toiletries and a lovely hot powerful shower . The meals avaialable to order from Mrs Mills were absolutely delicious and the complimentary cakes on offer were scrumptious .

It was fabulous ! We arrived on the pouring rain but Nicola was out coat on showing us where to park to unload the car easily and telling us anything we needed to know ! She then delivered a beautiful cream tea ! We felt so welcome ! The yurt was immaculate and clean and beautiful ! The garden and surrounding area is also well tended. We met other nice people staying I. The yurts too! We did a nice walk to May Hill. We played on the lawn between the yurts , football, frisbee and badminton that we took along . When it rained we snuggled inside and played games . We toasted marshmallows every night on the fire because we could ! I found the whole break totally relaxing. There were beautiful sunsets , I liked sitting in bed with the yurt door open watching the sunrise and sunset ! It was nice with the outdoor tables and chairs and lots round the fire too! We visited a local pub the farmers boy - the food was scrummy ! We were so cosy and comfortable ! Our teenage sons loved it too , it was a magical experience , we ha e awesome memories of this trip ❤️

It was great. Everything was brilliant and the welcome was amazing,
26/10/2016Dave
wonderful! Watched shooting stars sitting outside the yurt after eating a fabulous meal by the camp fire cooked by Nicola and delivered to our plates. Delicious cream tea on arrival (you can tell as a family we are obsessed by food). Great yurt, with all you needed (or didn't realise you did!) thanks for a lovely stay
22/10/2016tanya
Stayed here two nights for our mini moon. We had the best time. The yurt was clean and very comfortable and attention to detail was excellent. The log fire kept us warm and breakfast in the morning was lovely. We will definitely be back.
21/09/2016Joseph
Fantastic Yurt and Cosy weekend stay, just as described.
09/09/2016Melanie
We had such a wonderful stay with Everyone at Mrs Mills yurts. They had everything covered, to pots and pans to your own private bathroom, delicious cakes daily and beautiful yurts. We were a family of 4 in one yurt and there was plenty of room, we were fortunate with the weather but if it had rained there were plenty of games and the extra snug room to relax in. I do like constructive critism, but in all honestly, there is nothing to say, it was perfect. We will be back. Thank you so much.
09/08/2016Rose
Dreamy weekend in beautiful countryside with all the little luxuries thrown in! Nicola and Gary were superb hosts and we had such a good weekend that we are sure to return!
22/07/2016Laura
The whole experience from start to finish was brilliant. Nicola has literally thought of everything and we had a wonderful weekend. The yurt has everything you could possibly need (and the bed is one of the most comfortable we've slept in), the private 'beach-hut' bathroom is just like a plush hotel bathroom and the breakfast hamper was just amazing, and lasted us two days as there was so much. There is also the added bonus of delicious cake every afternoon - it really was a great weekend - we'll definitely be back and aren't sure whether we can go back to normal camping now!
08/07/2016Elaine
From the first welcome email, to the delicious choices for the one pot dinners, the arrival tea & homemade tiffin, the amazing yurt with everything you could possibly need to the lovely grounds and play area/trampoline for the children - this is nothing short of fabulous. A gorgeous breakfast hamper along with the arrival of Maggie the cat hoping you will share some bacon. Each time I thought "oh gosh I could really do with ...", it was magically there. This place is perfect for an escape from city life but the really warmth, character & heart of this lovely place is Mrs Mills herself - it's her little touches, her friendly welcome & goodbye, her delectable cakes & the magical way she seems to appear just when you need directions or a suggestion for dinner. Exceptional X

We had a wonderful 3 nights stay in Tanaduke. The Mills family were so welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. The yurt had everything we needed with a really comfy bed, a wood burner with smoke wood and fire lighters, fresh flowers, lovely furniture and decor and outside, a BBQ, gas stove and camp fire setting plus table and chairs. Our children had an amazing time playing with the owner's children and they were made very welcome. A lovely hamper was delivered to our yurt on the first morning and fresh cakes were available in the snug every afternoon. The private bathroom had a lovely shower. We also had a daily washing up service! Nicola Mills was so helpful in advising of places to eat or visit and nothing was too much trouble. We had a wonderful stay.
29/05/2016Claire
A beautiful yurt, location and hosts that couldn't do enough for you. Couldn't recommend more. Despite a severe storm and illness on our part we had a wonderful time. We'll be back!
07/02/2016Mel
We're in love with Tanaduke! What a perfect stay with amazing hosts. The yurt is fantastic with loads of special little details like a decanter of sherry to help yourself to, dressing gowns and hot water bottles which all certainly helped us out as it was freezing when we stayed! It was nice and cosy in the yurt once you get the stove going though. There is also an indoor (and heated!) loo and shower less than a minutes walk from the yurt which was a big bonus! Nicola and Gary were the best hosts. A breakfast hamper arrived on our first morning with bacon and eggs and fresh croissants and all sorts of other delicious treats. We had one of their lovely one pot dinners to heat up on the stove too which was really tasty! Nicola even brought us some incredible irish coffees too to warm us up one evening when it was particularly chilly! Nothing was too much trouble for them. There are lovely local pubs within walking distance (15/20mins) which is always good as well! Couldnt recommend this place highly enough. Thanks so much for an amazing stay!!

Nicole the host was very welcoming and her breakfast hamper which was a welcomed treat , and her one pot curry dish was out of this world, it came to us as a hamper well presented and tasted yummy. mmmm. must say also that every afternoon we had fresh cakes (all home made ) and pot of tea compliments of the host .

We had a great time at Tanaduke. Nicola was very welcoming and the yurt itself had everything we needed. The snug with fridge, tea making facilities and private bathroom was an added bonus, especially as we weren't great at keeping the log burner going so could go up there for a quick cuppa and a warm up! We would definitely go back again, perhaps when our two children (aged almost 3 and 7 months respectively) are a little older. Although out toddler loved it, I don't think the baby appreciated our lack of fire starting ability! Weather not great and as we went early in October, the nights drew in fairly early so not much chance of sitting out til late. Would recommend a stay in late spring and through the Summer or very early Autumn to make the most of the evenings and warmer temperatures. But overall we loved our adventure! (and being treated with cakes and buns every afternoon was very nice indeed!)

We had the best weekend glamping. As we are used to camping this was luxury for us! The weather was kind, which made our weekend extra special. BBQ in October - who would have thought!

Food is at the heart of Mrs Mills' Yurts; a complimentary breakfast hamper of local produce on your first morning, homemade frozen meals ready for you to defrost and enjoy around the campfire, home baked buns and tea every morning… you can even get a discount on a tour of the local brewery. On top of all of that, lovely plush white linen, a snug with board games and blankets, campfires and fairy light holders in the trees make this a really cosy and indulgent experience; take your stretchy trousers!

We had the most wonderful stay at Tanaduke, this is a really magical place. So many luxurious and thoughtful touches throughout our stay - from the quality of the lovely and comfortable bed/linen, to the plentiful supplies of crockery, to our private bathroom . But the most amazing touches were Nicola’s hosting. The breakfast hamper was incredible, as was our welcome drink on a beautiful sunny September evening. We’d pre-booked the hot tub so everything was ready on arrival and we were lucky for a clear night to relax and watch the stars. The children both have asked to go back for their birthdays and I’d absolutely love to make it a birthday tradition for me too! Thank you Nicola - you have created something completely wow! We had fresh baked goods each day available in the brilliantly kitted out shared kitchen.

We had the most relaxed and luxurious stay in Tanaduke - our yurt. Every small detail had been thought about and the site is just lovely.

Absolutely lovely, every detail was thought of and the touch of the breakfast hamper was brilliant. We also loved that some homemade cakes were left for us one day! Despite COVID Nicola still found a way to make the stay personal and special.

Fantastic stay - the campsite and surrounding countryside was beautiful, and the host had thought of everything. Hot tub, waterfall shower, woodburner, complementary homemade cakes, overflowing breakfast hamper... The best of all possible worlds.

Fantastic location, excellent hosts and first class accommodation/food. I could not rate this place high enough and would thoroughly thoroughly recommend.

Perfect! Relaxing break! Hot tub was a bonus - our 14 year old loved it and was a chance for all of us to disconnect.

It was really good so much attention to detail. Our host Mrs Mills was beyond helpful from the friendly emails when arranging our visit to the homemade scones and hampers on arrival to helping us light a fire. We had a brilliant holiday I would highly recommend it!

Our teenage sons loved it too , it was a magical experience , we ha e awesome memories of this trip ❤️

Stayed here two nights for our mini moon. We had the best time. The yurt was clean and very comfortable and attention to detail was excellent. The log fire kept us warm and breakfast in the morning was lovely. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic Yurt and Cosy weekend stay, just as described.

Dreamy weekend in beautiful countryside with all the little luxuries thrown in! Nicola and Gary were superb hosts and we had such a good weekend that we are sure to return!

A beautiful yurt, location and hosts that couldn't do enough for you. Couldn't recommend more. Despite a severe storm and illness on our part we had a wonderful time. We'll be back!
