Overview
Hidden on the edge of historic woodland and perched on a secluded hill, Brickles yurt site offers the perfect place for families and friends to gather and enjoy wide views over Dorset.
The three sleeping yurts and the living yurt are locally made, using wood from the estate woodland. The living yurt has a small cooker on one side for rainy days or an early morning cuppa, along with a large seating area and plenty of games to choose from.
Brickles has a kitchen with hob, oven and fridge/freezer plus there is also a BBQ with tools or you can cook over the campfire. There is also a large decking area with picnic benches to enjoy some al fresco dining.
The open-air bath, hidden behind wooden panels on the decking area is must-try experience. Heat the bathwater with firewood gathered from the woods. There is also a gas-powered outdoor shower and flushing toilet nearby.
It's a good 5-10-minute walk from, well, anything at Stock Gaylard, so you have the camp and its surrounds all to yourself. The sleeping yurts are strategically positioned so you can open up the stable doors and watch the sun rise from bed, although the beds are so comfy you might well be asleep long past that point!
Please note Brickles Camp normally sleeps 12, but 2 more people may bring extra tent(s) at the additional cost of £30 per person per stay, bringing the overall capacity to 14. Please call 0117 204 7830 to enquire & book

Meet Andrew and Josie
Stock Gaylard Estate is a small, traditional estate of about 1800 acres, including 300 acres of oak woodland, 80 acres of common land and an 80 acre deer park with a small lake. Owners Andrew and Josie lived for a number of years in East Africa where they first discovered that camping can actually be comfortable! This inspired them to create a place where two families could camp together in comfort, in the beautiful surroundings at Stock Gaylard.
Wildlife & environment
Conservation and preservation are at the heart of everything done at Stock Gaylard, and the unspoilt environment you see today combines modern dairy farming with a number of Sites of Special Scientific Interest. There are a number of conservation projects running on the estate including the habitat restoration of Lydlinch Common in order to promote both the nightingales and marsh fritillary butterfly. The estate has a number of barn and tawny owls and up to 20 species of butterflies can be spotted over the summer months on the many conservation headlands, fields and hedgerows around the farms.

Upon the arrival, we were so impressed about the site! Such clean and tidy, very well maintained. Wonderful views, relaxing and so quite placed. We enjoyed right from the start to very late end of our stay! This is definitely a place that you would love to return to. Everything you need is supplied as well (blankets, bedding, kitchen equipment)! Fire place and BBQ ready for late nights :) ABSOLUTELY STUNNIG PLACE!

A wonderful stay in which the campsite itself exceeded all expectations.
17/05/2024Baron
After only 15 minutes of arriving, I found instant calm and the melting away of any strain. There is something truly special about this place. Bubble baths looking up to ancient Oaks, sitting under bright stars next to a roaring fire - this place is a piece of heaven. Abundant wildlife roaming free, bird watching - so much to see and do and experience. I cannot wait to go back.
30/05/2022Carrie
An amazing, cute and cosy space suitable for friends and families, children and adults. Chill out living space which is very homely with gas fire, games and books or the outdoor fire pit to sit around and star gaze.
12/05/2022Chloe
Superb from start to finish. We arrived on Friday to beautifully kept and decorated yurts, all clean and tidy. The site was well maintained within a beautiful landscape. The owners have thought of every possible detail/thing we might need, the beds were comfy, we were warm with good quality bedding and extra blankets if needed. We loved everything about it.

We booked our stay at Brickles to celebrate my 50th birthday with family and friends. It’s was THE BEST time ever. The site was kitted out perfectly and everyone enjoyed themselves a lot. The yurts were well insulated and having the living yurt allowed us to spend the one rainy evening in the warmth and dry.
18/04/2022Victoria
Beautifully peaceful and secluded, we loved our stay. There is everything you need for a really comfortable stay and the surroundings are stunning. Self catering facilities + fire pit bbq were brilliant. Highly recommend and hope to come back again one day!

We had an amazing time, it was a beautiful camp in a beautiful setting. We spent our days exploring the beautiful countryside and coast and evenings sat around a roaring fire. The kids loved the freedom to play in the forest and the outdoor bath! Really perfect glamping adventure.
21/08/2017David
We had a wonderful time at Brickles Camp. The setting was beautiful and very peaceful. The yurts were spacious and well equipped. It was nice to have the fridge, hot shower and a toilet, as the little luxuries. Overall, a lovely glamping experience which was enjoyed by all of us - two families, with four under 5s.
17/07/2017Reetta
We had a lovely time, the yurts are spacious and clean and have everything we could want, very comfortable and a lovely view.
07/07/2017Catherine

05/05/2017Alice
Beautiful yurts and fabulous extra thoughtful touches made this a truly special holiday
17/04/2017Kerry
Good: amazing camp , really well kitted out with everything you need, loved the camp fire and cooking with the dutch oven, loads of seating for games, and plenty of space for activities, kept discovering little bits and bobs throughout our stay which was nice, everything is really good quality - john lewis blankets for example. Able to get out and about to the beach, local pubs, etc... Bad: nothing really - animals can get a bit noisy early (4:30) in the morning and the loo is a bit secluded in the dark but that would be picking holes in a wonderful place
27/05/2016Dave
We had a fantastic time at the Brickles yurts, partly because we were very lucky with the weather, but the setup there is absolutely perfect. It's quiet and remote, but has a hot shower and a flushing toilet, as well as a fully equipped kitchen! We made great use of the fire during the chilly nights, too, and it all came together as a really magical experience.
13/05/2016Eoin
We enjoyed sitting round the fire pit at night and the outside bath was great.
15/05/2015Julie
Amazing! Couldn't have asked for anything more. Can't wait to book again.
01/05/2015katy
We really enjoyed our stay at Brickles Camp. It was great for the kids and our dog to be able to run around in the open air. The yurts were very comfortable with all the facilities you need and the setting was picturesque. We loved using the open air shower but didn't brave the outside bath - it was early April after all! Make sure you take wellies if it's been raining as the camp can get pretty boggy and some extra clothes for the evenings to keep nice and toasty. We took advantage of the option of buying venison burgers from the owners which we cooked on the BBQ - they made a delicious meal!
03/04/2015Nicole
"We loved our stay - bathing & showering under the stars, cooking outside, sitting around the campfire listening to owls & watching the bats swoop around the yurts. It was so peaceful, so simple and yet so special. It was utterly lovely to live a different type of life for a few days!"
