Overview
Resting on the slopes of a small vale outside of Combe Martin, Valentine’s Orchard is named for the small orchard that it borders on the site of Truckham Farm. Starting with its sister cabin 100 metres away, Skylark, owner Nicola has focused on creating spaces with creativity and eco-consciousness as their focus. No matter where you are in Valentine’s Orchard, you’ll see that focus, when you’re admiring the wooden beams above the wood burner whilst you snuggle up, or when you look out over the gentle slopes from your cosy linens in bed.
On the very western half of Exmoor National Park, you’re just three miles from Combe Martin Beach and the South West Coastal path, and in 20 minutes or so, you could be at another award-winning beach – Woolacombe, or just heading further into Exmoor. With huge windows looking out on your own tiny valley in front of the large desk, this could be an incredible place to work remotely for a while, though you’d inevitably want more free time. With wifi onsite, plenty of space to breeze about, and cooking facilities that’d make a house jealous – Valentine’s Orchard shows off what glamping is supposed to be like.

Meet Nicola and Michael
Nicola and Michael have lived locally for much of their life but at the farm in more recent years, having moved from a nearby village. Nicola is a local vet and Michael works in the construction industry. Small scale animal rearing is a hobby and they wanted to share their special location for luxurious relaxing retreats. They enjoy the peace and quiet - there are no near neighbours and no footpaths but they are nevertheless near the local attractions.
Wildlife & the environment
Truckham Farm is right on the edge of the Exmoor National Park (it starts just over the road). This is a Dark Sky Reserve and from the cabin there is no light pollution. They have a small wind turbine that helps generate the power for the cabins and the water is their own - passed through a UV filter and tested safe by the council. We had a fantastic weekend 8th-10th November. It is the perfect place to completely switch off from the realities of life. The accommodation is relaxing and cosy and overlooks some lovely scenery. We even managed to spot a deer in the distance. Everything you need is there and it would come recommended to anyone that would like a weekend of doing very little!

We had a super stay at Valentines Orchard. The cabin is tucked away with views into a quiet and isolated Devon valley and we were spoiled with some fantastic weather during our stay. Absolutely loved the outdoor bath, cream tea, board games and an evening sat around the fire pit. Had some day trips out including a circular walk around Lynton, Lynmouth and the Valley of the Rocks and had fish and chips on the beach, ran from the cabin along the coast path to Ilfracombe (it's just under 9 miles) and got the bus back, swam in the sea every day and kayaked from Combe Martin to Broadsands Beach. The cabin was really well equipped, has a great shower and the bed was lovely and comfortable. Had an evening meal out at the Fyne Arms which was a short drive from the cabin.

We had a magical stay at Valentines Orchard, the location was fantastic- quiet and full of wildlife, a much needed change from London life. The cabin was beautiful, well-equipped and lovely and cosy in the evenings. The fire-pit was a great addition, as we spent a few nights around the fire toasting marshmallows. The surrounding wildlife made this stay so special, lots of sheep, ponies and rabbits on the hill.

We absolutely loved our stay at Valentine's Orchard! I wanted something secluded and tranquil for my husband's birthday and couldn't have found a better place. The cabin is beautiful and airy, and the surrounding landscape is breathtaking. We enjoyed waking up to the ponies, geese and sheep every morning. We'd love to return at some point!
