Overview
Setting is vital, and that’s why Pointy, and her sister cabin, Curvy, are sat in a nine-acre field, amongst 5000 acres of The Flete Estate, and the even larger South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From this incredible spot, you’ll have panoramic views up of the area – which is a SSSI and marine conservation zone. As if this wasn’t enough, it’s a five-minute walk to the private Pamflete Beach (so private, it’s not even marked on a map). If you’re not lazing on the sands, or taking to the water to wild swim, paddleboard or otherwise make use of the estuary on your doorstep – then you’ll be back at the beautiful space itself.
Location isn’t the only special element here at Flete, the spaces themselves are designed and curated down to the last detail – with every square inch utilised amazingly. Inside you’ll find a spot to relax or read by the giant picture window, space to sit by the wood burner with a cuppa – and somehow space for kitchen and bedroom. Outside, you’ll be thrilled to find hammocks in the woodland, a picnic table, and both an outdoor shower and wood fired bath!

Meet your hosts
Meet John, Lily, Jamie & Kate
John & Lily at The Flete Estate made their first venture into glamping in 2021 with six bell tents for 56 days. A great success, they wondered how they could have guests all year. Deciding to go for a more permanent space they teamed up with Jamie and Kate of Life Space Cabins to produce Rusty Sheds – two luxury cabins set in a secluded nine-acre site, five-minutes from their private beach. With John's experience in running holiday cottage spaces and Lily, Jamie and Kate's eye for design, they have created an unforgettable experience to all their guests.
Wildlife & the environment
Undeveloped since the 1880’s, staying at Rusty Sheds gives you access to the seven miles of private wooded drives on both sides of the river. The owners are often busy planting trees, reinstating old hedgerows and digging ponds to encourage wildlife back into the farmed landscape.
The estuary is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Marine Conservation Zone which has allowed the animal life plenty of space to thrive. Curlew, oystercatchers, kingfishers and otters call the river their home and in recent years they have had visits from osprey, white stork with a little egret, a stoat and hare and even a white-tailed eagle! Just make sure you have plenty of time to take it all in.

14/06/2024Chloé
It was a perfect way to spend a half term with kids, pointy was so cute but mighty! Location was the reason why we booked it, with a short distance to the private beach, lots of woodland walks and the most amazing ice cream shop near by! We enjoyed the hot tub, BBQ with the view, liberating outdoor hot shower - it was so easy to get kids washed!, paddle boarding on the beach and ice cream everyday. It was dreamy stay and Izzy was so amazing!
27/05/2024Kelly, Canopy & Stars
My partner and I stayed in Pointy for a wonderful week of rest and relaxation, in beautiful surroundings and a perfectly appointed little cabin, which had everything we needed and more.
17/05/2024Emma
We had a wonderful long weekend at Pointy, as a family of four with two young children. My sister stayed with her family in neighbouring Curvy with her children. It was so special to have the place to ourselves and watch the children running round having the time of their lives. We went on walks, used the paddle boards and to the Schoolhouse for a delicious lunch. The outdoor hot tubs were a hit with all the family and the location was superb. We had a chaotic, busy and fun filled time in sun and rain.
03/05/2024Victoria
Our stay was perfect. The holiday was my birthday treat to myself to get away and escape the world for a few days. In short the holiday couldn't have been better. The weather was somehow in our favour every day! We are not morning people yet waking up with the sunrise every morning was breathtaking, having a hot outdoor shower in the crisp sunny mornings at 6am was just amazing and something i wish i could do every day. The word shed is a massive understatement for a cabin so well constructed and thought out, it was a joy to spend time in. Particularly by the log burner which we spent lots of time watching on an evening. The bath we lit only the once but boy was it worth it! The bbq cooked excellently and the hob was very efficient at producing a great variety of meals. As a whole the location was perfect. The view out to the fields beyond was BEAUTIFUL and provided the perfect backdrop to 4 wonderful evenings. The beach and private trails were the one thing that enticed us to leave the cabin in the first place. The estuary and woodland trails were so accessible and close by we found ourselves being out for hours and walking miles barely realising it.
22/04/2024Alex
It was amazing, loved the setting and the accommodation offered everything we needed
29/03/2024Kim
We celebrated our twelve year anniversary and chose to stay at the lovely Pointy in South Devon. The wooden cabin is effectively a cosy home from home - so cosy in fact that despite torrential rain during our stay, we actually had to open the windows it was so warm. Just incredible! There was nothing better than sheltering from the elements in a quiet cabin in the countryside. The cabin has everything you need and more, and has been meticulously thought out. From eco friendly shower gel, to a fridge, hob and oven, and even dog biscuits for our furry friends. We couldn’t have asked for more! We would love to revisit when the weather is brighter and we can make more out of our stay, but we genuinely had such a wonderful time. I can’t believe how peaceful it was!
13/03/2024Grace
It was a really beautiful location. The children absolutely loved their stay and the views and surrounding area is spectacular. We especially loved the walks and the private beach.
14/02/2024Kamaldeep
Myseld and business partner/ best friend escaped to Pointy for what we wanted as a whole little break, and that's exactly what it was. No phones, just nature and taking a rest. From the wood fired hot tub, to the beach walk, to the views, everything was perfect and we will most definitely be back with our own partners too. It is a hidden gem!
04/12/2023Beth
Beautiful luxury cabin by the coast, amazing layout, quality materials, great kitchen, great mattress (best we've stayed in yet), amazing shower room (also the best we've stayed in yet). Wildy relaxing, connected to nature and back to simple living. A great escape! The Rusty Shed Team have done an incredible job! The details are incredible from Land & Water products, Egyptian cotton bedding, memory foam mattress, electric hob, to the hot chocolates and Salacombe Gin and kettle crips and wood stock even the weaver green blankets and cushions! Everything was thought about in detail and it really was a luxury stay. We will be be back! :) Thank you for having us!

06/10/2023Karen
Fantastic location, great being so close to the sea and the countryside. The cabin was fantastic, great shower and loved sitting and reading at the large window in the living area. The outdoor bath was a real treat in the evening as the sun went down over the hills with the stars coming out and the gentle sound of the sea in the distance, something I won’t forget. Breakfast at the local Schoolhouse was delicious too and the dog loved the big beach just below the cabin.
02/10/2023Emily
The cabin was fabulous, comfortable and tastefully furnished. Location was amazing - everything was just perfect.

Had the most amazing stay in the Pointy! Spent our days exploring the estuary and beaches and evening soaking the hot tub and cooking over fire. Had a delicious dinner in the Old School house restaurant.
30/08/2023Hayley
We stayed 2 nights which was a perfect little break, made full use of the wood fired bath, fire pit, paddle board and the private beach and access to the estuary. The cabin had everything we needed and more, loved the layout and clever use of every nook and cranny. The kids loved it and it was a joy to step outside straight into nature in the mornings, eating breakfast on the deck and watching the birds over the woods.

We stayed for a couple of days midweek in August. It's an amazing location with Mothecombe just a short drive away. Our first night coincided with the Perseids meteor shower and we saw so many shooting stars from the woodfired tub.
14/08/2023David, Canopy & Stars
I had an amazing time. It’s a beautifully designed cabin in a fantastic location. I loved cooking outside, going for walks, reading in the hammocks, pottering to the different nearby beaches and soaking in the tub.
28/07/2023Francesca
wonderful location, loved that you can walk to the beach, School House cafe and not have to get in the car. The cabin was really well appointed and lots of thoughtful touches. It was a beautiful cabin & space to relax in.
14/07/2023Alexa
We had such a relaxing time at rusty sheds, it’s so peaceful with the beach nearby and plenty of other things to do. We loved the facilities with the wood fired tub and fire pit. The cabin itself is really well kitted out with everything you need to feel like you’re in your own home. You can tell they’ve put a lot of thought into the small details!
07/07/2023Emeline
What a gorgeous place to escape from it all. We were so impressed by the clever use of space in the cabin and how beautifully designed everything was, from the huge picture window to the cosy (and very comfortable) sleeping nook. What blew us away the most though was the location, with the stunning views of wildflowers, forest and rolling hills from the cabin itself, and the picturesque private cove just a short walk through the woods away. After an afternoon paddle boarding and lounging on the sand, we wandered back up to start the wood fired hot tub and watch the stars come out.

We had a gorgeous two nights at Pointy – my husband and I and our two kids 8 and 5. Cabin is beautifully designed, a little haven from the wild February winds. Our kids loved the outdoor wood-fired tub, and being able to safely run free in the nearby woodland. Short and beautiful walk to the estuary and beach, too. The mezzanine level bed is not for the claustophobic, but super fun den-style sleeping for two nights. We thought an ideal scenario would be two sets of friends / family hiring both cabins at the same time - ideal, back to nature living, with cosy and stylish environs to retreat back to. (NB. Watch little fingers with the heavy door on windy days). Would highly recommend and also return.

We had a lovely time, the cabin had everything we needed, it is set in a truly beautiful area. Only wish the hot tub was bigger so everyone could fit!

My partner and I stayed in Pointy for a wonderful week of rest and relaxation, in beautiful surroundings and a perfectly appointed little cabin, which had everything we needed and more.

Had the most amazing stay in the Pointy! Spent our days exploring the estuary and beaches and evening soaking the hot tub and cooking over fire. Had a delicious dinner in the Old School house restaurant.

I had an amazing time. It’s a beautifully designed cabin in a fantastic location. I loved cooking outside, going for walks, reading in the hammocks, pottering to the different nearby beaches and soaking in the tub.

wonderful location, loved that you can walk to the beach, School House cafe and not have to get in the car. The cabin was really well appointed and lots of thoughtful touches. It was a beautiful cabin & space to relax in.
