Overview
Hill walking, trainspotting, fire stoking and hot tub wallowing are all good things to add to your must-do list at Eden Vale, rain or shine. This cool and contemporary cabin sits in a peaceful dell surrounded by the rolling valleys and white farmhouses of this quaint Cumbrian corner. The road to get here is said to be one of the most scenic in the world, winding between sheep farms and steep bends – if you’re a motorcyclist, this one’s for you. For those who prefer two feet to two wheels, the famous trails of the Lake District and the Pennines are a short drive away, and so is pretty Penrith with its pastel streets. There are great walks on your doorstep too, and if you’re feeling fit you can even walk to the cabin from the nearest station at Langwathby, where there are pubs and places to pick up supplies.
This place is a perfect bolthole for two with a vast bed handmade from windblown oak, a sleek kitchen and – hold on to your hats – a sauna for warming up after cheek-reddening walks. There are other ways to get warm here (a wood-fired bath on the deck for stargazing, a crackling stove indoors) but do pack snuggly socks for cooler days and wellies, too; it’s a downhill stomp from the parking area unless you have a four-wheel drive and the desire to put it through its paces (you can hitch a lift with your hosts if you don’t fancy the walk). Joanne and Mark live onsite with an assortment of dogs, chickens and horses and will ensure you’ve got everything you need before they leave you to get acquainted with your neighbours: red squirrels, roe deer and owls call the surrounding woodland home. For days out, make for Carlisle’s historic cathedral, the spa at Appleby Manor, hop aboard a boat to explore Ullswater or hire bikes to pedal parts of the Coast2Coast route.

Meet Joanne and Mark
Joanne and Mark originally completed their home onsite in 2007 after nearly 4 years of living in a caravan with 2 young children. They have built up a wastewater business and as the years have gone by and their children have got older, they've started to have trips away on their own. They had the pleasure of stopping in a boathouse on the shores of Lake Ullswater and realised that a small space could be very special and relaxing for a couple to enjoy. They had an area on site that had to have some trees removed and they realised it would make the perfect place for a log cabin still situated amongst trees and the rest is history. The cabin overlooks a meadow next door, as well as down to Briggle Beck.
Wildlife & the environment
The wetland area at the bottom of the land is a haven for wildlife such as birds, owls, ducks, as well as red squirrels and Roe deer.

Everything was perfect, the hosts have thought of everything.

Four days of bliss! Everything at Edens Vale was perfect: the peacefulness, the birdsong, the deer coming right past the cabin on our first morning - it was all amazing. It was so lovely to properly relax (especially in the sauna and wood fired outdoor bath) and enjoy nature.
23/12/2024Jane
Really enjoyed the lodge, great location and facilities
29/11/2024Tony
What an amazing cabin! Jo and Mark have build a wonderful place, cozy, warm and well equipped with a full kitchen, hotel quality bathroom, sauna, etc. It’s also very quiet and peaceful, no Wi-Fi and limited phone signal, make it easy to switch off and sit watching the birds
30/10/2024Aaron
We booked Eden's vale lodge for our mini moon, straight after our wedding. We wanted somewhere secluded that we could completely chill out at with almost no phone signal and this fit the bill! Our hosts were lovely and gave us all the info we needed. We will be back!
14/10/2024Lucy
Absolutely amazing stay. Edens Vale Lodge is stunning accommodation in a secluded area - perfect for a quiet weekend away.
02/08/2024Kelli
As a first place to stay away together, Eden’s Vale couldn’t have been more perfect. The lodge was fully kitted out (more so than we’d anticipated), so we got to make full use of the kitchen, hot tub and facilities. Our host, Jo, was really friendly and welcoming whilst remaining non-intrusive. The setting is beautiful- the lodge looks out on to quiet fields and the nearby railway caused no issues in terms of keeping a feeling of exclusivity about the lodge. There was a welcome note and bottle of wine for us on arrival which was lovely and there’s a guest book to write about your stay. It was nice to read about other peoples’ experiences in the lodge- right up to the day we arrived! Poole Bridge/ Ullswater is only a 20 minute drive away, so adventure is on the doorstep when staying at Edens Vale Lodge.
17/04/2024Meg
Great lodge, everything you need and more. Very peaceful and relaxing break. Enjoyed using the outdoor bath and sauna. Would thoroughly recommend this lodge.
05/04/2024Vanessa
We had a lovely time at Edens Vale Lodge. The location was great and the Lodge itself was both beautiful and a perfect set up for us. Everything was very comfortable and the Lodge had everything we needed.
27/12/2023Ingrid
This absolute secluded gem provided everything we needed to escape from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. We stayed for two nights and apart from walking into local village and down to beck, which was overflowing after storm, we never ventured away from the cabin. Everything you could want superb views, great kitchen and comfy bed. Sat out just listening to wildlife and reading. Couldn’t fault will definitely be back!
13/11/2023John
We came for a mini break for my partners birthday. The place itself WOW it was amazing
30/10/2023Jackie
We had the most wonderful time at Edens Vale Lodge. The space is stunning and so well-built. The huge balcony was lovely for sitting in the hanging chair in the morning watching the birds on the feeder. The cabin itself was spotlessly clean with everything we needed. We cooked every night and the kitchen was great. The bed was super comfy and we loved watching Bake Off in bed! We weren't expecting a TV so that was a nice surprise, especially as the cabin has neither signal or wifi (hooray). The sauna and the wood-fired hot tub really set this property apart from others we've stayed in - these were really fun to use in the evening, after walks in the Lakes. Unlike most cabins, this one has heating as well as a fire. This really is game-changing as we've often spent the majority of holidays elsewhere constantly stoking the fire/stove in an attempt to stay warm! The property has a few games and books on the area and we definitely made the most of these. Jo was attentive to our needs and responsive on Whatsapp but we had everything we needed. Thank you also to the hosts for the birthday banner as we celebrated my partner's 30th birthday!
16/10/2023Molly
My husband and I had the most amazing minimoon here. It was luxurious and picturesque. The perfect place to relax and be together away from usual stresses of everyday life.
02/10/2023Lorraine
An absolutely stunning stay at Jo & Mark’s lodge, the hideaway was modern and clean but with a cute homely feel. Being away from it all and submersed in nature was amazing, we listened to the birds and the cows from the wood fired bath for hours, before a sauna and then cosying down in front of the log burner for a relaxing evening. The nicest place we have stayed in the UK!
25/09/2023Nick
We had an incredible weekend in this beautiful cabin immersed in nature! This was exactly what we needed and the attention to detail from Jo and Mark is just wonderful. The sauna and outdoor tub made it extra special, it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. Thank you!
04/08/2023Katherine
Absolutely perfect and what I wanted. Cosy log cabin immersed in nature. The sauna was a highlight for me which was a godsend after days out exploring the lake district. The terrace is beautiful and extends over the hill into the trees so it really has a treehouse feel. The bed was comfy and the kitchen has everything you need.
14/07/2023Rebecca
We had a wonderful stay at Edens Vale Lodge, it is clear Jo and Mark have put so much love, care and consideration into the property as soon as you step through the door. We were really made to feel welcomed and as we walked around the property it really felt like they’d thought of everything and more! It made it such a special weekend where we could relax and enjoy it.
07/07/2023Amy
We chose the lodge because of the location, back up heating if we didn't want to light a fire (!) and fancied the sauna. We just loved our stay. We loved the peace. No traffic noise. Everything you could possibly want at hand.
24/03/2023Elaine
The lodge is fantastic! We loved the tranquility , wildlife and the outdoor tub and sauna are amazing! Hands down the best place we’ve stayed in the uk to date!
20/02/2023Gary
We had. lovely long weekend at Edens Vale Lodge. It has been snowing the week before which added to the incredible setting. It was all perfect. The lodge was lovely with Christmas lights up and the log burner added to the cosy feel (although the central heating meant we were never cold). The use of the outdoor bath and sauna was lovely and certainly added to our stay. The peace and quiet was exactly what we needed. Jo (the owner) was on hand if we needed anything without ever feeling intrusive. It was just the best weekend. Thanks!
16/12/2022Dave
The lodge itself was absolutely amazing. Self contained and loved the open plan feel. Furnished brilliantly and loads of character. That’s not to mention the wood fired hot tub and sauna. So good we’re looking to book up for next year already.
05/12/2022Stephen
A lovely few days away. The lodge offers everything you could want and more, and the owners are so friendly and accommodating. The outdoor bath tub and the log fire are definitely highlights.
04/11/2022Katy
An absolutely stunning Lodge hidden away in the trees, we spent our honeymoon here straight after the wedding and it was wonderful, exactly what we needed - a mixture of log cabin and spa retreat, with the coolest outdoor bath tub, the sauna, the hammock - pair all with Prosecco and it was perfect for a much needed rest! and with Lake Ullswater close by we had a really lovely day trip out there too, we really loved our time here and didn’t want to leave - thank you so much to Jo from both of us!
21/09/2022Maria
We had an amazing stay at this lodge! The owners were really friendly nothing was a problem! It was really relaxing the bath outside was gorgeous in the rain! We also loved the fire pit with a glass of wine!
01/08/2022Helena
Wonderfully relaxing, exactly what was needed to switch off and relax from a busy life. Very peaceful, the outdoor bath was fantastic, sat by the candle light watching the bats flying above was amazing. The Sauna was wonderful and so relaxin.
27/07/2022Catherine
It was perfect, quiet, peaceful and relaxing, the local areas were great for walking and the lodge itself had everything you could need, from cling film to a dishwasher, tea and coffee provided, the wood burning tub was fantastic, the whole stay was fantastic.
29/06/2022Megan
Absolutely amazing, the lodge was perfect. Surrounded by trees, a stream and Baldrick our pheasant visitor. It was so peaceful. Exactly what we needed, a relaxing break away. The sauna and wood fired bath tub made it extra special.
23/05/2022Stacey
Our stay was excellent, Jo made sure we had everything we needed and kept in contact on the day to make our arrival as easy and stress free as possible.
15/04/2022Louise
We stayed at Edens Vale Lodge as part of back to back Canopy and Stars short breaks to celebrate our anniversary. We started with the rather luxurious (for us at least!) lodge! We barely left the building, other than a quick look at the river and viaduct, as we unwinded, read book, relaxed and made the most of the sauna and wood fired bath - which were amazing! Had a wonderful time (sauna is glorious) just being together in a beautiful accommodation and watching nature outside.
11/04/2022Duncan
I booked with a voucher bought for my 40th and topped as it’s nearly my 41st bday! I took my best friend. The place was easy to find, instructions were really clear. The owners sent text messages and were incredibly helpful. The place was set up beautifully. Fires were even stacked so you didn’t have to get anything going. A bottle of wine was chilling in the fridge. Perfect.
08/04/2022Nita
We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Edens Vale Lodge. The weather was amazing and we took advantage of the privacy, grounds and stunning veranda and hot tub
21/03/2022Catrina
We had such a beautiful stay here at Edens Vale Lodge - the hosts were the loveliest people who were always so willing to help and they have created an absolute slice of heaven where everything is top top quality.
11/03/2022Natalie
What a relaxing place! Jo came and met us when we arrived and showed us round (and how the wood-fired bath worked)… and after that it really did feel like we were completely isolated. The furnishings of the lodge are high quality, Jo provides homely finishing touches, the outdoor bath was fab and we were provided with plenty of fire wood for both the bath and the log burner! We drove out to Ullswater and Windermere for day trips which weren’t too far and did a food shop for lots of treats at Booths in Penrith just before arriving (so if the weather had been poor and we didn’t want to leave, we didn’t have to)!. We had the best start to our honeymoon... I really wanted to stay longer.
25/02/2022Cecily
Our stay was very nice in this lovely lodge. It is so well done and finished with some really nice touches. The sauna and hot tub are excellent and it’s good fun lighting the fires yourself.
21/01/2022Alex
Fantastic. We received a text telling us that the lodge was available a little earlier. Upon arrival we were greeted by Jo, who was so lovely. We headed down to the lodge and were blown away by how peaceful and scenic the location is. We decided to change a few of the things we had planned so that we could stay in the lodge a little longer.
12/01/2022Alan
From moment we arrived at Eden’s Vale Lodge everything was so relaxed and check in was a breeze. The owners Jo and Mark were on hand if we needed help with anything and it was lovely to meet Jo and be shown around the lodge :) The lodge itself was perfect, so much attention to detail has gone into making it an exceptional stay for guests visiting the Lake District area. From The Hikki hot tub, sauna and log burner there is something for everyone :) we can’t wait to re visit.
07/01/2022Hayley
We had the most magic stay! The lodge is so beautifully thought out and furnished for every comfort you could want. It's nestled in the woodland and feels a part of the forest, so you can kick back and enjoy some real peace amongst the trees. The lodge is incredibly cosy, with everything you need, even including some lovely wine and fresh eggs. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a great dinner to enjoy by the fire. On that note, it's so cosy! Wood fire inside, wood fired bath outside, and a sauna. It's incredible. It's idyllic, a perfect blend between Scandi lodge vibe and a luxury spa, couldn't sing its' praises higher. If you're looking for a restful stay, to regenerate and slow down, and to be really taken care of in the lodge, this is the place. Oh, and Jo & Mark were wonderful hosts, they really look after you, but give you all the space in the world. Can't wait to return.
05/01/2022Thomas
Blissful, the location and the lodge itself was magical, from the outside hot bath to the sauna, to the trails and view of the bridge it made for a wonderful stay. Me and my partner felt comfortable and enjoyed a couple of drinks in the hot bath, it was good fun to light the fires ourselves and be completely on our own
06/12/2021Coral
We had planned a wild camping weekend in the Lakes, but Storm Arwen had other ideas! Edens Vale Lodge came up as being available and the moment we saw it had a wood fired hot tub and log burner we instantly booked! The lodge is beautifully designed and finished, it has everything you could want and more. The location is beautiful and the owners are wonderful (especially when we needed to towed up a snowy hill to get out!)
27/11/2021Sam
i had the most fantastic experience. The accommodation is set in the most beautiful location surrounded by trees with the sound of a running trees and birds. You really could be any where in the world. Perfect for getting away from busy work life and enjoying some serious R&R alongside a good book. I will definitely be coming back again.

We had a beautiful stay at Eden Vale lodge, we have come away from our stay relaxed and refreshed! Waking up listening to the birds chirp in the morning, drinking coffee on the balcony, sitting in the wood fired bath and toasting marshmallows at night made us feel like we were miles away, in a bubble we didn’t want to leave

Absolutely beautiful place, we had such a relaxing stay. The extra touches like the sauna & outdoor heated bath were perfect. Loved sitting on the decking & watching the wildlife

The lodge was incredible!! Really well fitted out, spotless inside and out! The hot hub was amazing, the sauna, everything to be fair. The facilities inside the cabin were really good! 100% would recommend to anyone i know, or don’t for that matter! Only negative was it was over too quick, wish we stayed longer. Jo and Mark made you feel very welcome. Also the directions Jo provided were spot on as well. It would be very very hard to be disappointed staying here!!

We had the best stay at Eden’s Vale Lodge. It was so peaceful and we honestly couldn’t have asked for anything more. Jo was such an attentive host, we couldn’t recommend it enough and can’t wait to come back!!!

My friend and I had a wonderful stay here! The cabin was recently built, so everything was brand new, and they spared no expense! The outdoor woodfire bath was a highlight! The kitchen is well equipped and we cooked some yummy dinner and breakfast. There's no WiFi and the cell signal is very weak so this is a great holiday if you're looking to digital detox and switch off for a bit. Would def come back and recommend to others!

What a fabulous luxurious Lodge! Exactly as described, immaculate, very peaceful, great location, lovely touches, the host was a real pleasure to deal with, we are planning on booking again for next year. If you want peace and quiet, then this is the place to go. Plenty of walks and cycling within easy reach.

Edens Vale Lodge is a special place nested in the most beautiful and peaceful spot full of wildlife. The outdoor wood fire bath is perfect for relaxing and enjoy the surrounding and we loved the sauna. Just make sure you do leave the lodge to explore the charming little villages in the area and fantastic landscape and walks. A little gem.

Four days of bliss! Everything at Edens Vale was perfect: the peacefulness, the birdsong, the deer coming right past the cabin on our first morning - it was all amazing. It was so lovely to properly relax (especially in the sauna and wood fired outdoor bath) and enjoy nature.

Really enjoyed the lodge, great location and facilities

What an amazing cabin! Jo and Mark have build a wonderful place, cozy, warm and well equipped with a full kitchen, hotel quality bathroom, sauna, etc. It’s also very quiet and peaceful, no Wi-Fi and limited phone signal, make it easy to switch off and sit watching the birds

We booked Eden's vale lodge for our mini moon, straight after our wedding. We wanted somewhere secluded that we could completely chill out at with almost no phone signal and this fit the bill! Our hosts were lovely and gave us all the info we needed. We will be back!

Absolutely amazing stay. Edens Vale Lodge is stunning accommodation in a secluded area - perfect for a quiet weekend away.

Great lodge, everything you need and more. Very peaceful and relaxing break. Enjoyed using the outdoor bath and sauna. Would thoroughly recommend this lodge.

We had a lovely time at Edens Vale Lodge. The location was great and the Lodge itself was both beautiful and a perfect set up for us. Everything was very comfortable and the Lodge had everything we needed.

We came for a mini break for my partners birthday. The place itself WOW it was amazing

My husband and I had the most amazing minimoon here. It was luxurious and picturesque. The perfect place to relax and be together away from usual stresses of everyday life.

Thank you!

Perfect.

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at Edens Vale Lodge. The weather was amazing and we took advantage of the privacy, grounds and stunning veranda and hot tub

The location is beautiful and the owners are wonderful (especially when we needed to towed up a snowy hill to get out!)

i had the most fantastic experience.
