Overview
If your perfect getaway would involve looking right onto the beach from your lounge, this is the space for you. Perched atop the Cornish cliffs, Halzephron Cottage overlooks the Celtic Sea and Mount’s Bay, a vision of blue stretching into the horizon, visible from the kitchen, sitting room and the circular window in the gallery room upstairs. Take a stroll out before breakfast, and take in the sea air on the coastal path that stretches to the three beaches nearby, as well as the famed Lizard peninsula. On your way back, wave a thank you to the cows in the field opposite, who’ve made the very milk left for you in the large American-style fridge.
With space for 6 to sleep, couples, friends and family alike can make use of the fully equipped kitchen for breakfast feasts and luxurious lunches having spent the morning surfing at the nearby Poldhu Cove. Wash out the salt-infused hair in the wet room, or keep it, and plunge your body into the double ended bath in the separate bathroom. After a long day exploring and seeking out the famed Portuguese treasure, supposedly lost offshore by Dollar Cove – a mile down the road, watch the sunset line up with the living room window, or the two private gardens and consider dinner. The evening meal may well be a selection of seafood, because who could resist cooking up shrimp on the barbeque to this backdrop? Or watching the sunset on the horizon, marshmallows burning *ahem* gaining a char on the firepit.

Meet your hosts
Meet Sean & Alex
Sean and Alex took over as the owners of Halzephron House in 2020. They are passionate about the Cornish coast, and love sharing it with their guests.
Wildlife & Environment
Right on the Cornish Coastal path, choughs, ravens, peregrine falcons, kestrels and buzzards have all been seen here. The coastal wildflower meadows are home to butterflies, bees and grasshoppers. From your ‘secret garden’ hidden on the cliff, you can look down over Halzephron Cove - if you’re lucky you might spot the resident seal, and even dolphins on a calm day. Be warned though - it’s a definite climb down to the Cove below, not a walk. Halzephron’s four acres are bordered by SSSI cliffs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with the National Trust for neighbours.
All three spaces at Halzephron House are powered by solar panels, meaning the energy used will be almost completely generated on site.

We had a great stay at the Cottage in spite of some wild and windy weather. It was cosy and comfortable and the location was amazing.

Such a lovely house, amazing location, wonderful views. Perfect!
07/07/2024emily
Wonderful location. Very friendly owners. Great fun house which worked really well for our grown up family.
10/05/2024Sandie
Beautiful place to stay even when the weather is awful. The magic of Cornwall is there from the stormy sea to the amazing countryside. The coastal path just outside the front door was the perfect start to our dog walks.
29/04/2024Beverley
We had an amazing time with daily walks down to the beach, beautiful sunsets and moonlit nights, sightings of a seal down at the closest beach and of a peregrine falcon hovering right above us. We visited the famous Halzephrone Inn at the end of our strolls around the area and tried the local ales. The kitchen was a delight to use and the mini snooker was a hit. A great stay that we all wished could have lasted at least a month rather than a few days.
19/04/2024Lianka from Canopy & Stars
The cottage was cozy and went above and beyond in terms of the amenities provided to help make our stay comfortable. The hosts were friendly and gave us privacy during our stay, whilst also being super responsive if we needed anything. The home was spacious and perfect for our large dog, who was quite at home after a few hours! The enclosed gardens were perfect for him and helped us to relax on holiday. The location was idyllic and the hosts provided some excellent recommendations on what to do in the area - we particularly loved the pub in the village and the ‘best pasty in Cornwall’ suggestion!
01/04/2024Katie
What a place! We had the most wonderful stay at the cottage ! The views were just spectacular and the whole family were so sad to leave ! An absolute gem of a spot! We will definitely be back !
25/03/2024Kirsty
The Cottage is beautifully decorated and well equipped, we absolutely loved it! The location right on the coastal path is perfect for bracing walks and then coming back to get cosy by the wood burner. We cooked lovely meals and played games as a family - the TV didn't get switched on once!
27/12/2023Melanie
When we arrived, everyone in our group said’WOW’, the cottage far exceeded our expectations, from what we’d seen on the website. The way the owners have furnished and styled the cottage is beautiful, we all appreciate its vibe. Nothing seemed to be left to chance. The flow of the house is brilliant and perfect for a larger family group whether you have big or small children, in our case the larger variety. There is plenty of room in the kitchen for all of your food and belongings and is mainly well equipped. We loved the large American style Fridge freezer which gave us ample room to store all our Christmas food. The cooker is a brilliant size if more than one of you cooking at a time or you’ve a Christmas dinner to prepare. We liked that the dining area was in the kitchen, no one was left out. The lounge is vast and intimate in the same breath and great for playing games. Christmas was made special for us with the addition of a real Christmas tree, it really finished the rooms off & again the owners seemed to have thought of everything. My favourite thing was the log burner, we were never cold and for four days it was blowing a hoolie outside. The views are fantastic.
22/12/2023Joanne
Very pleased with property. All the amenities you could need , great location and loved the wood burner
26/11/2023Nigel
Our family of six: parents, two young adults and two lively spaniels enjoyed a very relaxing stay. Up first thing lazing with a coffee gazing out at the waves rolling in while dogs played in the enclosed good sized garden. Then out walking and sight seeing, plenty of good quality cafes and restaurants locally, local inn on door step excellent. The cottage has everything you need, inside and out. Lots of games and books for the one stormy night cosy by the fireside.
25/09/2023Karen
A lovely cottage in a fantastic setting right on the south west coastal path. The cottage was well appointed and we had a brilliant restful days, taking full advantage of the local beach with our dogs who loved their daily swim.
04/09/2023Karen
A wonderful break in Cornwall with our two children. One of the best holidays we have ever had in a beautiful home.
14/08/2023Ben
Brilliant stay! Tons of space, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and all the kitchen equipment and fridge/freezer space you could want to cook a feast. We cosied up with board games, books and puzzles on rainy days, and explored the coastal path, Gunwalloe beach and nearby Porthleven on sunnier days. Reading a book in the round window upstairs with a view of the ocean is stunning, especially at sunset! Hosts were lovely, there if you needed them but left you to it during your stay.
07/08/2023Leila, Canopy & Stars
Absolutely amazing. The photos on the website don’t do this gorgeous little cottage justice. An absolutely fantastic stay from start to finish. Owners were available to answer any questions which was brilliant. The wood burner was very well received when we arrived in the wind and the rain. The bed was so comfortable I could’ve slept for a week! The kitchen had all amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The coffee was delicious! We cannot wait to return in the future.

Halzephron Cottage is a beautiful cottage in an outstanding location. You’re literally right on the coast and the views are incredible. The cottage inside is really lovely - paired-back, Scandi design, calm and peaceful.

What a magical place. We absolutely loved our stay here as an extended family over Easter. The cottage itself is so beautifully decorated and comfortable, but also the setting and location are amazing too. Great walks, food and beaches... and Sean and Alex were such kind and welcoming hosts too. I would highly recommend and hope to return too

We had such a wonderful time at Halzephron. The location is fantastic - beautiful seaviews and a part of Cornwall we didn't know so well. Even though the weather wasn't fantastic, we had great fun exploring all the local beaches. Thoroughly recommend!

We're super excited to be adding Sean and Alex's latest space. A wonderful addition to the collection. The feedback for The Observatory and The Cabin should give you a good feel for what it will be like. Book a stay and be the first to write a review!

This is our third stay (once at the Observatory and twice at the Cottage) and Halzephron is definitely our family’s happy place! The location is remote and wild and we love taking windswept walks with our lab along the coastal path to one of the nearby beaches - there are fantastic beaches in walking distance in each direction. Everything you could need has been thought of and the decor is stylish and cosy. Alex and Sean are fantastic hosts too - unobtrusive but on hand if you need them! We are already planning our next visit.
