Overview
It’s very hard not to feel like the king or queen of a wooden castle at Galtres Treehouse. It sits within its own little pocket of wood, overlooking 50 acres of ancient parkland, not far from a stately home. The setting is phenomenal, and yet, we’ve just begun.
The interior of the space is huge, with light and airy wood-panelled luxury to lounge around in, whether that’s dining with a view out the French doors or settling down with a book by the wood burner. Outside, beyond the gigantic deck, you find the firepit for warming yourself while you’re star spotting and the historic, brick-lined swimming pond, fed by a fresh spring and perfect for pairing with the sauna. There's also an outdoor bathtub and deck chairs to dry off on, as all your stress evaporates with the water.
In July and August you can explore the stately home and the award-winning gardens are open for wandering at any time of year, but there’s also plenty to do nearby, like market towns, a visit to trendy, foodie York, a delicious meal at the local pub, and the North York Moors National Park for miles of scenic hiking.

Meet Robert
Previously working as an art dealer and Robert had an art agency and worked with some of the UK's best known contemporary artists. Back in 2019, he decided to collect art instead of selling it and moved back to his family home in North Yorkshire. Because he loved nature, the outdoors, culture and people, he came up with the idea of doing a treehouse after seeing a friend's treehouse in Cumbria. It has been a real passion project and taken over four years to complete and hope you enjoy this unique experience and setting.
Wildlife & environment
The Sutton Park Estate is passionate about the environment and conservation. They farm regeneratively on the estate and the parkland and gardens are a haven for wildlife. There is an abundance of wild flowers surrounds the pond and paths of the woodland walk for guests to enjoy all year round.

Juliet
We had a magical stay in a beautiful place. Greeted by the sounds of nature and an owl on arrival we settled in quickly with a gorgeous log burner. Though it was cold outside we still enjoyed the sauna and bath but it was a bit cold for the pool. We found the treehouse extra special for celebrating our anniversary.

We had an amazing few days at the Galtres treehouse. with its idyllic setting and unique design, we spent most of our time just relaxing within the site. The treehouse is such a warm and rustic space with the log burner keeping us cosy. It was rather chilly outside we but momentarily made use of the outdoor swim lake! The sauna looked great but didnt quite get to use it. The local tearooms was a wonderful addition a stones throw away. The site is very secluded with an amazing outlook over the fields and trees.

We had a fantastic stay at Galtres Treehouse. The setting is very peaceful and we really managed to relax and unwind. The hosts are responsive and friendly and the Treehouse itself is cosy and comfortable. We were in the Treeehouse during a storm and felt very safe and warm.
22/11/2024James
Absolutely perfect. Like nowhere we have ever stayed before - a truly unique experience.
18/11/2024Emily
Honestly, our stay was incredible. Cosy, magical, autumnal bliss. The treehouse and surroundings are truly beautiful. The workmanship is second to none and we had everything we needed. We’ve come home totally rejuvenated.

We loved the tree house. It's a very special place in a fabulous setting. Everything was perfect.
21/10/2024Clare
We had a wonderful stay at the fabulous Galtres Treehouse. From the moment we walked in we felt completely relaxed with no outside distractions. I cannot fault anything about this place. The bed is so comfy, the shower is great, the sauna, the outside bath, the fire pit … just fabulous. We had storms on one night but we have the fire burning, the candles on and felt really cozy despite the wind doing its best outside! Communication with the owner easy, he was very responsive. I would totally come back again.
18/10/2024Paula
It was perfect from start to finish. So many things to do and enjoy.
23/09/2024Victoria
We had a lovely, relaxing break. We were so happy with the treehouse and the space. The treehouse and grounds were spotless and we had everything we needed. Dealing with the hosts was really easy and access to the treehouse was easy and seamless. It was really dog friendly and our pooch enjoyed it as much as we did. Fantastic!
16/09/2024Sarah
The weather was not kind to us, but we still had an amazing stay. Despite the wind and the rain, we managed to use all the facilities and it seems no detail has been missed out. Absolutely beautiful. Even the village is ridiculously beautiful and there are plenty of lovely dog walks. Shame the pub seems to have closed, but the welcome hamper made up for it. Nice to find very good implements in the treehouse along with basics like salt and pepper and oil.
04/09/2024Sarah
Absolutely beautiful Treehouse in a gorgeous setting. We completely relaxed as everything was set up and ready to use. The outside bath, the sauna and swim pond, the firepit and BBQ, all made it a perfect stay. Hoping to stay again sometime.
30/08/2024Karen
Hands down the best place we've ever stayed. The Treehouse exceeded all of our expectations. The tranquil setting, stunning swimming and sauna area and the house itself. The owner has thoughtfully furnished and stocked the property, nothing has been forgotten and there's lovely touches such as the speaker, towels for the sauna and outdoor facilities, even down to the trolley to bring your luggage down. We wouldn't tend to return to the same place twice, preferring to experience new locations, the Treehouse will be the exception to that and we cannot wait to come back.
02/08/2024Leigh
Where to even start? This place was absolutely INCREDIBLE! The treehouse itself felt so luxurious, from all of the small touches to the extreme comfort of the king size bed, the wonderful shower, the amazing kitchen with everything you need to cook up a storm. And then the surrounding sections - the fire pit, the BBQ, the beautiful bath on the decking surrounded with beautiful outdoor furniture and gorgeous evening lighting. The setting is super romantic and peaceful and we honestly could have stayed forever, looking out onto acres of stunning countryside whilst watching the sunset, Our dogs absolutely loved it too with so much space to roam free.
18/07/2024Emma
Although we didn’t realise when we made our last-minute booking we had the honour of being the first canopy and stars guests to stay at the Treehouse. We booked to have a couple of days relaxation, away from it all. We did enjoy a walk in the surrounding area, but otherwise spent our short break enjoying everything the treehouse has to offer - our highlights were the swimming pond and sauna, outdoor bath on the deck and the cosy fire pit. So much thought has been put into making the Treehouse a real retreat, with lots of comfy seating areas inside and out including a hammock and a swing, a huge supply of wood for the wood fired stove, bbq, fire pit and sauna, dressing gowns, sauna towels as well as lovely touches like fresh flowers, candles and solar lights and a generous welcome pack. We loved the privacy of the treehouse with the views of open fields where we caught glimpses of rabbits, a fox, as well as bird life and some cheeky squirrels. The owner Robert was friendly and responsive and although we experienced a minor teething problem this was dealt with quickly and effectively. We would definitely return.

Really great spacious and luxury treehouse in a beautiful setting with lots to do! The meadow walks around the treehouse are lovely and you can stop by the sauna and lake and have a wild swim or sit in the woodland next to the treehouse around the firepit. Closer by, you can barbeque on the deck or just sit in the outdoor bath and admire the view.
