Overview
You’ll find The Woodsman’s Hut in the heart of North York Moors National Park, just half an hour from the coast, on the site of a working farm. Tucked into the corner of a field by a stream, swaddled in bluebells – when in season, the hut overlooks the dale. Inside, the king size bed is nestled under a stargazing window, either waking you with the morning sunshine, or letting you count stars before bed. You have your own private deck encircling the hut, where either you’ll spend an afternoon reading in the breeze, cooking up snacks in the kitchen, which has a gas hob, or outside on the barbeque. This is also where you’ll likely spend an evening, slowly reclining into the wood fired hot tub, listening to the tree canopy woosh in the wind. Your only neighbours here will be the sheep that trot the neighbouring fields, and if you’re in search of wildlife, you can speak to the owner, Jill about taking a tour of the farm, or even visiting the farm museum on site!
Nearby, there’s oodles of walks to trek, the coast in easy reach, and the whole of the North York Moors to explore. If you’re in search of an evening out, look no further than the Star Inn at Harome; a 40 minute drive but well worth it to sample the Michelin star menu.

Awesome 2 night stay in Woodman's Hut. Intimate, romantic, warm, comfortable, relaxing, peaceful. Hut 200 yards down a gentle incline, perfectly privately positions on the edge of a line of trees, just above a stream. Two ring burner with a beautifully beaten-up frying pan and rustic kitchen to go with. Tiny wood-burner which warmed the inside of the hut in no time. Wood-fire bath takes longer than expected, 3.5 hours at least, but saying that, we had filled the entire bath with water (two human bodies completely submerged) and it was January!!! - It did feel like we were being cooked alive as the wood burner continues to rage as we bathed. Must have spent easily two hours in rinsingly hot water! Amazing. If you want to be private, secluded, alone, away from civilisation, of grid, no phones. This is the place. It would be considered Glamping, but i's say it's a level the exceed this classification. One tiny improvement, this might not be possible, but maybe for any future design of Hut, I'd try and hook up the internal wood-burner to the bath... Thanks for a great two nights

I stayed in the Woodman's Hut with my boyfriend, we had the most relaxing weekend and spent our time enjoying the tub, going on walks around the North York Moors National Park, sitting by the log burner and playing games like chess. The stay was really comfortable, remote, and tucked away by the river and woodland. We enjoyed the board games on offer and found a new love for chess! The hut was really cosy and gave us time to really unwind together. We walked to the Fox and Hounds Inn (7mile circular route) in Ainthorpe and enjoyed a pub lunch by another warm fire. The scenes along the way were beautiful as we walked along the scenic river Esk, taking in the views. The owners were really friendly and helpful and were a short walk away to their house if we needed anything, as there wasn't any phone signal we took the opportunity to contact them whilst in visiting the inn in Ainthorpe.

Booked the hut for 2 nights in October. Area is beautiful , single track roads and rolling hills. Wanted some off grid quiet time after a busy work period and it was just the ticket .. no phone signal , no WiFi, no temptation to stare at a mobile phone. Just lots of conversation in front of a log burner with a glass of wine and a flipping good cheeseboard (even if I do say so myself) with the rain falling on the tin roof …

The overall stay was lovely and it was great to be disconnected by not having any WiFi signal.

My husband and I had a fantastic weekend in the Woodman’s Hut. We’ve never stayed in a shepherds hut before, but we were so happy we chose to! It was so lovely to switch off from everything back at home, with no telephone signal, waking up to nature, playing games, enjoying the hot tub and spending quality time as a couple. The hut is also a one hour (roughly) walk to Danby and Ainthorpe, where there are two lovely pubs and nice views. Jill was lovely, and really helpful. It was easy to communicate with her, and everything was ready for us when we arrived. If you’re considering staying here, get it booked - you won’t regret it ☺️

A perfect slice of peace and tranquillity with stunning views from the veranda (and outside bath) and star gazing at night.

We stayed Saturday 29th to Monday 1st July. Me, my husband and our 1 year old. The cabin had everything we needed we absolutely love it. It was in a field completely on its own. Our one your old was able wonder around freely which was amazing for us. The location is beautiful and the hosts were wonderful. We would absolutely go back.

We had a really lovely stay in the Woodman's Hut. It looked just like the pictures so was exactly what we were expecting. Our host was super helpful too.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Woodman's Hut, it was off-grid heaven! The hut was completely idyllic and completely off-grid: no electricity, no wifi, no mobile phone signal, so we just switched off for the weekend and enjoyed spending time in nature. Spending several hours tending to the fire to warm your evening bath was such a mindful way to spend the evening in between eating and drinking on the deck. How often do you get to completely switch off and bathe in the open to the sounds of birds and sheep, whilst enjoying the most magnificent views?
10/05/2024Beth
This was the perfect off grid getaway. A great way to relax and reset. The host was lovely and helpful. The hot tub was a great added bonus too.
27/02/2024Lucy
Lovely little cabin, really comfy bed, and a cosy wood burner to keep warm even in a storm! The bath was lovely and peaceful once we got it hot. Hosts lovely and helpful too. No complaints at all.

We booked the woodmans hut for my partners birthday in January, we arrived in the dark and was greeted by the lovely Jill, who drove us down to the hut in the fog and rain, the hut was pleasant and cosy the attention to detail within the hut make for a homely comfortable stay, from pretty bunting to cosy lighting and candles galore, if you’re looking for a romantic cosy place to stay you won’t be disappointed booking the woodmans hut. Jill was very friendly and helpful and even prepared some birthday banners and a balloon for our arrival, the location is absolutely stunning, as I say we arrived in the fog so couldn’t see much the night we arrived so waking up that following morning was a very pleasant surprise to see we were surrounded by glorious countryside. The lack of mobile signal wasn’t an issue for us, we came prepared with card games and a music speaker, don’t be put off booking this hut in the colder months the log burner warms the hut quickly and efficiently with a ample supply of logs at a reasonable rate from Jill, I would say if booking in the colder months wellies are a must as you are in a large field a small distance from the car park space to the hut.

We had a wonderful weekend staying in the hut. It was a beautiful, quaint space and just the relaxation we needed. The space was used wisely with everything we needed to enjoy our stay and the wood burner and wood-fired hot tub added that little bit of extra magic!

It was perfect. The cabin felt totally remote and private and the surroundings were stunning! Jill was such a lovely, friendly host and her home made cakes were so good we had to go back for more. The hot tub outside was really special and the cabin was beautifully decorated with everything you need.

We had a lovely stay at Woodmans Hut. Jill was lovely. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. The hut was superb. We spent most of our time at the hut sat outside on the veranda admiring the views and watching the wildlife. It was very peaceful.

The woodsman’s hut is beautiful and was the perfect getaway for me and my partner. Our days were spent on the deck enjoying the sun, and evenings spent in the hot tub under moonlight. The cabin was easy to get to, with clear directions and instructions provided by the host. The location was perfectly peaceful with picturesque surrounding views. The cabin had great facilities, from cooking equipment to blankets! The hosts had really thought of everything, there was even a hot water bottle just incase. The outdoor hot tub surrounded by solar powered fairy lights made the cabin feel extra special and romantic. The hosts were absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond when they delivering cakes on our second day. My partner and I accidentally arrived a day early due to a confusion with our booking but the hosts were more than accommodating and I think we all saw the funny side of it. They made us feel very welcome.

Absolutely perfect. We have been to may a log cabin and hut in the wild but this was by far the best. If you want to relax and unwind without anyone bothering you. Then this is the place 10/10 loved it

An absolutely beautiful place to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. In the heart of the North Yorkshire moors...no wi-fi, no phone signal...absolute bliss!
