Overview
Puckshipton Treehouse doesn't allow any vehicle access within three miles and it is self-sufficient, you have to make your bed when you arrive and tidy up on departure, and bring all of your own supplies
Right from the start, staying in the incredible Puckshipton Treehouse makes you think about what you really need and different ways to live. This is a space to retreat to and reconnect with nature, finding your wellbeing by being immersed in a wild space – something you’ll discover easily after breathing your first few lungfuls of country air.
The whole deck, sleeping pod and tiny lounge in the “confessional”, are suspended from the trees on a platform reached by a beautiful, fluted walkway. Not that you’d know when you’re up there, with only a very slight flex in the wood to remind you. The adventure is just beginning too, because your outdoor shower, cooking hut and firepit are all down at ground level, arranged throughout the woods over the tangled tree root terrain.
To stay here is to be truly wild, truly self-sufficient – to swap checking your phone and streaming a series for nothing more hi-tech than lighting another candle from the end of the last one. When you’re sitting by the fire in front of the gentle views of the Wiltshire countryside, or swinging in the hammock listening to the breeze in the leaves, you’ll wonder why you ever thought you needed all that stuff in the first place.
The Puckshipton Treehouse Experience:
- No cars: While you’re not strictly forbidden from driving, there is no parking within four miles of the treehouse. You are much better off making travel without your car as part of the fun.
- Self-sufficiency: Previous guests will strip the bed and sweep up, clean linen will be ready for you to set up when you arrive. Please leave the treehouse as you would wish to find it.
- Perfect seclusion: Owner James will be available on his mobile, but there is nobody else around.
- The element of supplies: the nearest shop is around 5 km away but it's advised to stock up before you arrive, or plan a supply run on your first morning.
- Getting around: Bring torches for the night time and watch your step, the ground is sloping and uneven.
- Booking in spring/autumn: Remember if booking in April (and sometimes into May too!) or in late September/October, it may be dark, the treehouse is very remote and the weather may be wet and windy (of course this could apply to other times of the year too!)

The tree house is at grid reference SU:084554. It is roughly 1 kilometre south of the A342, Devizes to Andover road. The A342 is about 0.5 kilometre south of the village of Marden (about 5 miles east of Devizes).

Directions for walking from Pewsey Station will be sent out prior to your visit. The walk is about 2.5 hours, all on public rights of way with the occasional us of very quiet lanes.

Meet James
James' family, first his parents and then his brother, have farmed the land at Puckshipton since 1965. It forms the base not only for their bustling family home, but also for James' business, making bespoke furniture. James has been providing glamping spaces through Canopy & Stars since 2010, making all the spaces himself. He enjoys thinking of spaces that are different and sharing them with guests.
Wildlife & Environment
Puckshipton Treehouse is on the scarp slope of Salisbury Plain, thanks to the army using it as a training area, it’s the largest area of unspoilt grassland in Western Europe. The farmland around the treehouse is going through a change from conventional farming to regenerative farming, with an emphasis on improving its wildlife value, as well as growing organic food in a sustainable way. A start has already been made with turning one arable field into grassland dominated by wildflowers, and a pond has been dug and many hundreds of metres of hedge have been planted. A forest garden is also planned.

We had a wonderful stay at the treehouse, it was a really magical escape from our busy everyday lives. We hiked from the town of Urchfont, and were blessed with no rain for the whole of our stay. We were worried it might be cold at night but the sleeping pod got super toasty from just our body heat. The setup of the treehouse, kitchen area, and fire area is all so carefully thought out. We enjoyed cooking over the campfire every day, and reading in the hammock. The toilet was a little scary at first but I have definitely come away from this stay less afraid of bugs and beasties! It was wonderful to be surrounded by nature, and we saw loads of different birds, beetles, dragonflies and a pair of red deer visited. We completed switched off from the outside world. Would love to come back again.

Puckshipton is a magical place. This is our second visit and we love the privacy of the wood, getting away from screens, teenagers, being outdoors, taking time with everything. It's a place where time slows, tension ebbs, though it still flies past too fast. We did a great circular walk with a stop for a pint in Upavon this time. Top tips - insect repellent! One kettle and two bowls of cold water is perfect for 2 (careful) showers. If it rains maybe forget clothes, skin dries quicker.

This was a magical place to go. Half the fun was the 6/7 mile walk from Pewsey station - we walked a different route there and back, carrying our food with us as every pub in the area was for some reason shut! The treehouse was so well put together. My son and I had a fantastic 2 night visit and it was probably the best 2 nights sleep I've had since before I had children! Its a place that has provided many memories to be tapped back into for years to come.

A brilliant weekend in a lovely spot. The treehouse is so well thought through and put together, everything you need for a comfortable weekend is there. The location is great, with the treehouse shaded among the trees and sunny spots all around. We cycled the c. 30 miles from Swindon, which is on a great off-road bike path to Marlborough and then quiet lanes from there. Over the weekend we enjoyed the wildlife, walking, cycling, local shops/cafes/pubs, BBQ'ing, and reading in the hammock. We hope to return!

We visited midweek in July and cycled from Bristol - it's about 50 miles but pretty flat and mainly along cycle paths and tracks so quite a doable ride. Would heartily recommend if you're looking for a really unique experience and a few days properly off-grid.

We had a fantastic stay at Puckshipton Treehouse. Everything was exactly as described and it's a beautiful setting surrounded by wild-flowers and rolling hills. The facilities were excellent and exactly as described.
17/06/2024Anna
The treehouse was great - had everything we needed and very useful maps and info on the surrounding area. Didn't get to see the auroura borealis from the cabin which would have been perfect but that's the way it goes!

We stayed at the treehouse for 2 nights and it was so peaceful and relaxing. Just what we needed to break away from our hectic life. There is so much wildlife around and you are truely at one with nature here. We loved reading in the treehouse, doing yoga on the deck, toasting marshmallows on the fire and going for explorations around the local area. We were sad to leave.

We were incredibly lucky with the October heatwave but we were even more fortunate with James' beautiful treehouse. It has everything you need and would be brilliant rain or shine. We loved that it was easily accessible from the main road with only a short 30 minute stroll to get completely into the woods. Everything was beautifully set up - a sleeping pod with a huge comfy bed and lovely linens as well as the main treehouse itself spectacularly suspended in the trees without damaging them. The kitchen pod was great and the fridge kept everything cold (we actually has it too cold at one point and woke up to frozen milk!). All other necessities are thought of; showering, loo, rubbish, recycling and fireplace spots felt like they were perfectly set up for our stay.

Our stay was blissfully peaceful. This is a good contrast to everyday life, and a good benchmark for more wilderness living, but with the luxury of a beautiful treehouse as your base. It’s very peaceful, not too many noises at all, and allows a great view of surrounding rolling hills. The sleeping cabin is very warm and comfortable. We enjoyed all aspects of our stay.
28/08/2023Victoria
Great locations, buildings and we were even treated to a variety of weather. A perfect example of a good wilderness experience while still having your needs catered for in a comfortable way. We enjoyed finding tips and whittled pieces that were left by other guests, it leaves you thinking of how their experiences compared to yours. We can safely say from the logbook we read that they were all positive at the least.
23/08/2023Tyler
It was absolutely incredible. So peaceful and everything needed was there.
20/08/2023Nicki
Great stay. Easy to find and beautiful spot. Local amenities good. Walking distance to Millstream where we had a great meal (booking advisable) and picked up our food at the local farm shop and which was surprisingly well stocked. Bed was really comfortable and had great night sleeps. Didn’t spend any time up in the tree house really as the weather was decent so spent nearly all our time by the fire pit. Would go back!
28/07/2023Alex
We had a fantastic time! Directions to find the treehouse were spot on but we couldn’t believe how well hidden it was. All the basics were there and it made a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside.
16/07/2023Sarah
We spent a wonderful 2 nights in the enchanting off grid treehouse. We are bike packers so we travelled many miles there by bicycle, it was magical arriving late afternoon and coming upon the tree house hidden away - its very secluded- for the first time. The owner James has made the treehouse so beautifully and carefully so the trees are not damaged. He has thoughtfully created several other areas, a compost loo, outdoor shower using a metal bucket under a hawthorn tree, a cabin with very simple cooking facilities and a seating area under a canopy with a fire -it’s all so perfectly thought out and we loved everything about it. James love for the natural environment and sustainability is very apparent. The location is stunning, beautifully isolated and we spent our days exploring miles off road on our bicycles and slept like logs in the cosy sleeping cabin! We normally wild camp so it was luxury for us, the mattress was very comfortable and we slept with all doors and windows wide open as we love fresh air! Not a soul around, just wildflowers, birds and the great outdoors. All in all perfect. Thank you James.

We had the most fantastic stay at Puckshipton Treehouse. James has thought of everything, even down to providing brilliant solar lamps and cans of beans so visitors don't have to hike in carrying masses of heavy food. We did hike in and it was the perfect way to arrive - I think we appreaciated our stay all the more for it - and James' instructions were great, so it became a treasure-trail of sorts! The setting and set-up are both beautiful. James' passion for doing things properly really comes across. We spent happy hours just enjoying the treehouse and camp and only ventured out for one meal to a local pub.

Taking our cue from the 'no cars on site' policy, we made the journey from Norfolk to Wiltshire by coach and local bus. This restricted our movements to a six-mile radius from the tree house and changed our week's holiday from a sight-seeing trip into a detailed exploration of a small area - an approach that paid dividends. The tree house was beautifully built and the sleeping pod was really comfortable. After a day exploring the local villages, fields and footpaths, evenings were spent by the campfire with a view of the white horse on the downs across the vale. Having a whole woodland to roam in, with owls and deer and magnificent veteran trees for company was a real privilege. And then there was the unique landscape of Salisbury Plain, just over the brow of the hill. The people we met out and about were unfailingly friendly and helpful and that particularly applies to James, the owner and builder of the tree house. His craftsmanship and environmentally sensitive ethos is ingrained in the very fabric of the place.
15/05/2023Teresa
Really good fun! So quiet and off grid we felt like we were miles away from anyone and anything (25min walk to the pub). I would recommend this trip to anyone.
21/04/2023Mark
We stayed in the treehouse in the middle of autumn, and got very English weather (plenty of wind and rain). It was really cosy and we still managed to get out and enjoy the lovely countryside. Hearing owls in the evening and watching deer in the morning really made our trip special!
20/10/2022Samuel
Relaxed tranquility at its best.
07/10/2022Peter
Puckshipton treehouse is an amazingly built treehouse. Its really a ‘wow’ moment when you see it! I have driven along the main road and would have never had guessed it would be there. We loved our stay all the little tracks leading to each part just made it that bit more magical. It’s a shame about the fridge, however we did speak to James about it already. Thanks for having us James it was truly amazing!
07/08/2022Ellicia
It was wonderful; relaxing and everything I expected.
02/08/2022Sophie
Great stay, wish we'd booked longer.
31/07/2022Graham
We had a wonderful 3 nights in the treehouse! The wooded area has been managed very well, and the treehouse and surrounding buildings were clearly very skillfully built and maintained. We were lucky enough to have 3 sunny days and clear nights, and being able to light a campfire and enjoy it under the stars each night was incredible. Lots of little things were provided to make the stay more enjoyable like crocs, yoga mats, crockery and cutlery and bedding. We are both already thinking about when we can come back for another stay!
25/07/2022Chris
My 2 solo nights here were the most incredible tonic for my soul; a place to reconnect with the land and the trees and the animal world. The tree house itself is beautiful, in and of the trees. Small trails lead you to the kitchen, fire terrace and down to the shower. The shower sits under a hawthorn tree which I was lucky enough to share with a barn owl for my first day. She was like the gatekeeper to the huge expanse as the view opens up to vast golden fields. There, I met a doe and a hare as the sun set. I'm painting it magical because it truly was. If you're called to, I recommend going alone, I felt completely safe and at ease. I would also love to take my partner there one day - maybe! Beautiful crafted, super comfortable (I slept SO well!) with everything thought through to make it a wilderness experience with all the creature comforts. I parked in Marden and walked 30mins or so, with everything I needed for a few days offgrid. It was super easy to find. If you're tempted, go for it, you won't regret it! Thanks so much to James for his beautiful creation.
14/07/2022Louise
Stunning location, so peaceful and really well set up and organised as a total site. The tree house has a real wow factor to it, and the shower is also quite a unique experience! We loved our weekend away and would absolutely recommend the Puckshipton Treehouse to friends and family. I also managed to see my first wild Barn Owl too, along with various deer wandering around the meadow field in front of the Treehouse. Such a wonderful experience. Loved it

Lovely stay in a beautiful location. Very peaceful
30/05/2022Charlotte
The Treehouse is fantastic, such a great escape. We loved every minute we spent there amongst the birds and the trees. There are some great tracks that take you to local villages within 90mims walk where there are pubs and a farm shop with a cafe. It’s rustic and we loved that, you feel peacefully isolated and take time over every little part of your daily routine. It’s a real chance to reset.
20/05/2022Jason
Our stay was wonderful. The tree house is super hidden amongst the trees, no one would know you are ever there! We didn’t see anyone apart from in the distant fields for days. Even in the rain the area worked well as each part has cover. Weather was warm, but a jumper still came in handy in the evenings once the sun had gone down. Cooking on the fire was fun, but the gas hobs worked well too. We really loved our time here, it felt properly relaxing and away amongst nature.
15/05/2022Emma-Leigh
We had a dreamy time at this amazing treehouse. It was so hidden and tucked away, so peaceful and quiet and so beautiful. Exactly what we wanted and It had everything we needed. We cooked on the fire, played games and did yoga on the treehouse deck, went for walks and bike rides, had hot showers outside and slept in the super cosy pod in the trees. We really loved it and would highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet escape in nature!
10/05/2022Maya
What can I say? The most perfect break, everything about it was idyllic, if you’re thinking about booking do it now! We found the tree house fairly easily if you use the maps it’s a straight road up from Marden, it was such a peaceful setting waking up to the sound of birds and the light coming through the trees in the morning. Everything was thought out to make our stay the best it could be with hot waters bottles, cooking appliances, basic provisions like salt, oil etc. Our favourite night was where we cooked on the fire, definitely bring marshmallows! Breakfast was also not a problem in the kitchen shed just make sure to bring your own food. It did rain heavily one day, the owner was kind enough to check on us but it wasn’t a problem with wellies and a rain coat, the rain just added to the experience! Already miss the tree house now that we’re back home!

We had an absolutely wonderful 3 night stay at Puckshipton treehouse! I wish we could have stayed longer. It was very easy to find. We parked in the village of Marden and the walk up to the treehouse only took us about 30-40 min. The setting was gorgeous! The treehouse itself spacious enough. Sleeping pod had a very comfy mattress. Waking up to birds singing on misty mornings was the best start to our days. We were very lucky with the weather, it was warm enough to step outside without clothes on if we wished to. This place is remote enough to make you feel as one with nature. But it is also close enough to civilisation to venture out for a cheeky pint to the nearest village pub if you feel like having a company. The kitchen area has everything you need to make food on site. The outdoor shower worked well for us. We felt like everything was thought of with guests in mind. If you love nature and looking for an escape - this is the perfect place! We created lots of happy memories there and would be happy to come back in the future. I think quite a few of our friends are now looking forward to booking this place for next year. Amazing experience! Thank you so much.
21/09/2021Svetlana
This is a really special place. We haven't felt that relaxed in a long time. A beautiful little woodland that feels like it is yours alone. The craftsmanship of the house is exceptional and the layout really carefully thought out. However it is not for the type of person who likes their luxury's and is afraid of camping. It is a back to basics way of living and made all the better for it, I have come away rejuvenated, refreshed and reconnected to what is important. Thanks James for a lovely stay, we hope to be back soon!
04/09/2021Ella
Great chilled out weekend, wish we could have stayed for longer.
20/08/2021Lauren
We had an amazing stay at the treehouse. We really felt off the grid and everything is really well set up to make the stay enjoyable. With some drops of rain it was great that all the spots in and around the treehouse are well sheltered. We did a nice walk in the nearby environment. Would stay again!
15/08/2021Joram
Wow, we have just come back from a magical staycation at Puckshipton Treehouse and we had a magical stay. Being within the peaceful tranquility amongst the woodland was perfect. The owner has made the treehouse without flaw. It’s actually breathtaking seeing it in all it’s beauty. The pod, where we sleep, is super comfy and warm. We took a hot water bottle just for comfort, but it wasn’t really needed. The amenities is just what you need, the kitchen area has all the basics required. With two gas jobs easy to use, a fridge, cold clean tasty water and utensils for app types of cooking. The surrounding area is so peaceful! We parked at the village hall in Marden and walked there, took about 20 minutes and was a pretty much straight road out of the village to the treehouse. We didn’t see a single soul for 3 days, it was wonderful. We are both on EE and got great signal on our phones, but we had them off most of the time. We played games next to the fire and melted marshmallows. The fire is super easy to make and keep going, don’t let being outdoors put you off! The fires really do give out a lot of heat. We loved the treehouse! We would 100% recommend going
04/08/2021Chelsey
We had a lovely stay at the treehouse. Everything was as described. Surrounded by lots of countryside, lovely views and plenty of places to walk. It was a really different experience and thoroughly enjoyable. We parked in marden which was about a 25 minute walk to the treehouse. Loved having a fire and grilling dinner. We had a pub lunch at the local pub the millstream which was delicious.

We just spent the most beautiful time in the Puckshipton Treehouse. We were incredibly lucky with the weather – Sun, blue sky and millions of stars in the night sky. The place is magical. No human beings, just nature. We rode our bikes from Pewsey Station. Everything was just perfect. For those who are thinking of going – just book it and go. You will not regret it. James created something magical and we are grateful for the opportunity of being there.

We had an amazing time at Puckshipton Treehouse! The treehouse itself is an incredible structure that had everything we needed for a comfortable couple of nights. We chose to do the three hour walk from Pewsey train station and despite the rain and wind we enjoyed the challenge - the weather just added to the experience! We met James shortly after arriving and he kindly gave us some freshly picked asparagus and checked how we were getting on. We didn't see anyone else during our time there (except when we ventured to the nearest village for a pub lunch) and it was lovely to spend some quality time together in nature. We'd recommend the Millstream pub at Marden if you fancy venturing out although the kitchen at the treehouse is very well equipped. Despite it being chilly and damp when out during the day, we were very cosy in the evening and at night thanks to the blankets and hot water bottles. All in all it was a fantastic couple of nights away from London and we can't wait to return one day!

We had to drive as we were on our way to Kent from Devon. We parked in Marden a couple of miles away. A very straight forward and pleasant walk to the treehouse. It’s lovely walking into the secluded woods and seeing the treehouse. Set up camp and sorted ourselves out. We had brought a little food with us. Just enough porridge with died fruit for 3 mornings. We had decided to make it with water as we drink black tea/herb tea so hadn’t brought milk. Also enough pasta and sauce for two meals, a loaf of bread and butter. We had decided we would hopefully visit a pub/cafe for other food. Once the bed pod was made up it was cosy and we were very warm over night. Sleeping well well. We were lucky to have still nights. The weather during the days was very mixed. We had some sun and we’re able to use the out doo shower on one occasion. We also had a massive thunderstorm with hail and high winds on the second morning. It was difficult after this to find any kindling to light a fire, everything was wet and covered in hail! The MODs continuous bombing was obvious but not a problem. It was a lovely stay and we were pleased to have booked and had the treehouse experience. Weather is the key ..
17/05/2021Mark
The treehouse location was as described, beautiful and exceptionally well made - congratulations to James. The weather wasn't always on our side but suitable cover was provided.

Lovely quiet spot hidden in the trees, ideal for a few days outdoor living and cycling the lost lanes of Wiltshire.
30/04/2021carol
The tree house is a truly unique place to stay. We hiked there all the way from Pewsey using instructions provided by James. While challenging it was doable and part of the experience! Once we found the tree house after about 4 hours of walking it was a truly welcome sight! The bed pod is comfortable with the bathroom and kitchen a short wander away. The view from the fire pit next to the kitchen is lovely, especially in the evening sun. There is absolutely no one in sight so you are truly alone in nature which is a lovely experience. We were lucky in terms of sunshine but slightly unlucky in terms of quite how cold and windy it was. We got lots of use out of the hot water bottles provided but with the amount of wind struggled to find somewhere comfortable to relax outside of the bed pod and the slightly dark confessional booth. Learn from us and bring lots and lots of warm clothes if you're not coming during a heatwave!

Amazing location and well worth a visit. Secluded yet adequately located in relation to the amenities. Roughing it with the comfort of nature and so cleverly done.

Our host James really has thought of everything at the treehouse. The construction is very impressive hats off to all the work he must have put in to create such an awesome structure. The location is so secluded with no houses or people any where to be seen you would never no it's there. Which for us is exactly what we wanted. It's a great eco friendly set up with just enough equipment to get you by without having to many luxurys to make it feel like your really getting away from everything. The kitchen, toilet and fire pit were a nice distance away from the living area so not to get the bedroom smokey. The fire pit was grate with logs and kindling supplied. Even when it was raining we were able to sit under the canopy keeping warm and dry by the fire. It was a perfect romantic weekend for anyone wanting to get back to nature. Will be returning again. Thank you.

We decided to stay here to escape the confines of London. We couldn’t be more impressed with our stay. The tree house is certainly built for those young at heart and wanting to escape it all. You are completely on your own in a beautiful patch of woodland, which seems to be sheltered from the elements. We cooked mostly on the camp fire but the tree house has 2 gas stoves and a fridge to keep everything fresh. The composting loo, kitchen and camp area are all separate to the tree house which makes the whole area feel huge! James (the owner) has thought of everything hot water bottles, pre chopped fire wood, a map of the area, blankets, solar powered lights etc. We went on a rainy weekend and it can get a little muddy so be sure to take your wellies! We had the pleasure of meeting James on our walk back to the train station and you can tell he is proud of what he has created- a real craftsman!

Our stay was amazing in so many ways! We parked just south of Marden in a layby out of the way of passing traffic and walked down the farm track towards the location of the Treehouse, which we couldn't see at any point. We followed the track along and found the kitchen area, along with the benches and the campfire in between, before turning around to find the most incredible sight amongst the trees. Whilst hidden from outsiders, the main level provided amazing views of the surrounding area. The sleeping pod was lovely and cosy, plus it retained the warmth really well once the doors were closed. The kitchen area was well thought out, as was the campfire area with its benches and canopy. Everything we needed was supplied for us, from the solar jars and the firewood to all the cooking equipment and the bedding. Not a single detail had been left out and a welcome email before our stay contained all the information we needed. It was one of the best experiences we have had to be amongst the trees and to feel like you're in part of nature, as opposed to a man-made structure placed in the woodland. A lot of care and attention has gone into everything and we would recommend it to anyone...

Puckshipton treehouse is a very special place indeed, hidden well within a beautiful red cedar setting this uniquely crafted creation feels instantly like home. James has thoughtfully provided everything you could need for your stay including a functioning kitchen area, solar lights, candles, blankets and firewood. His instructions and recommendations were so helpful and we really appreciated his message checking in on us when we were hit by a stormy night (Which we still managed to stay dry in under the canopy!) Our favourite parts of the trip were cooking by the campfire, looking out over the fields from the canopy, red wine by candlelight and exploring the surrounding areas (James’ pub recommendations were spot on, wonderful food and atmosphere and people!). If you’re looking for a real escape this will certainly make you feel closer to nature. Thank you James, we hope to stay with you again soon.

We wanted a tree house but we also wanted to be close to nature. This was perfect. Although the facilities were rudimentary, the level of thought was quite sophisticated. We are used to wild camping so this was pretty luxurious in comparison. The high platform was great in the late evening and we enjoyed cooking on the open fire. We parked in Upavon and walked in which was a great way to start. It has a very individual feel and is unlike any other type of holiday. Part camping, part shepherds hut, part Ewok village

I booked this place for my partner as a birthday trip and he loved it. This place is really amazing, beautiful and unique, we loved having a couple of days of quiet time in the woods. The treehouse itself is very cosy and theres lots of cover incase it rains, the kitchen and fire pit are just outside the wood making it quite a large space to roam.
22/07/2020Emma
Lovely tranquil place, beautiful craftsmanship, and gave us some good ideas about the atmosphere of a piece of woodland of this size (we are interested in buying or planting one!). Heavenly to be amid the trees whether from the sleeping pod, in the hammock, or by the fire pit. Appreciated touches such as the crocs left on platform, liberal provision of candles, and James turning up with a fresh supply of kindling for the fire!
19/10/2019Megan
It was absolutely perfect, everything has been arranged with such consideration we will definitely be coming back for longer next year. Also, just to mention, we were incredibly lucky with the weather.
18/09/2019Sophie
Truly magical experience - we absolutely loved our time at the Puckshipton Treehouse. It was incredibly peaceful and romantic. James’ craftmanship is extremely impressive.
13/09/2019Georgia
Such a lovely retreat away from modern life in the trees! I was a female on my own and felt safe and relaxed. The sleeping pod was very cozy, and it was lovely and quiet. The yoga mat on hand was great so I didn't have to carry down my own.
09/09/2019India
We loved the cosy, romantic atmosphere of the treehouse. James was super accommodating and gave us everything we needed. We enjoyed evenings by the fire pit stargazing and the amazing views from the balcony. The sleeping pod was beautifully crafted. All the little details were well thought out and made our trip even better like the novelty of the bucket shower!
02/09/2019Alexandra
Amazing experience Lovely treehouse and location very relaxing and great views Could not fault the time there
30/08/2019Paul
Our stay at the tree house was unique and rustic! We felt very humbled to be showering from a bucket in a tree and were very impressed by James handiwork!
27/08/2019Alexis
We stayed in James' beautiful little sanctuary, completely off-grid, over the bank holiday weekend. We cycled and were rewarded by the scenery (canal path), and the treehouse was well worth the exercise! We also made good use of the bikes cycling to the local area. We do recommend stocking up on food items before as the shops are a while away, but we were rewarded with pubs in the surrounding area! James also kindly provided some basic items like pasta, for which we were very grateful. The treehouse itself was absolutely magical. The sleeping pod and sitting area were completely covered by trees and there's absolutely no-one around. The kitchen, fire pit, bathroom, and shower area were all extremely well thought out too. Within the first night our sleeping patterns were reset and extremely relaxed as we lay in the hammock reading or playing games. I cannot recommend this place enough - James has built this himself and it's stunning and exactly what you need for a no tech holiday! I've been asked since from friends about whether the treehouse was one of many, whether we had anyone else camping near us, but it's one of a kind and completely secluded, adding to its charm.
23/08/2019Catherine
Fabulous!
11/08/2019Emma
We enjoyed the ingenuity of the set up and I think it’s a brilliant idea to make off grid living available as a holiday venue in this way. Adapting our behaviour to the constraints- no vehicular access for a considerable distance, careful use of resources especially water - was enjoyable and thought provoking. Being responsible for cleaning and setting up for the next guests stops any tendency to take this work for granted, so easy to do when staying in a hotel. A great deal of consideration has gone into the design of the treehouse and other components and all basic needs are well provided for. Even though a busy road is just under a mile away and military activities on Salisbury Palin are just over the hill, it felt incredibly quiet and peaceful. The solitude is total, no one else around apart from a farmer occasionally checking on nearby cattle. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
15/07/2019Di
We loved this! Unique experience in a perfect peaceful location, everything little detail has been thought of here from kitchen basics, water, fire pit and more to make your stay perfect. We parked our car in Marden (no trains from where we live) and took our bikes and cycled to the treehouse. I would suggest the instructions from the road could be clearer as there are 2 tracks, it is the one dead ahead of you not the one to your left, then just keep going straight until you reach the woods and it is round to your left. It didn't seem like 3 miles out from Marden and is a lovely ride/walk. Highly recommended!
09/07/2019Jessica
We had a wonderful stay in the treehouse. We started our days with coffee & the morning sun coming through the trees. We explored, played games, but fires to cool over, & drank wine as the sun set. The bedroom pod was so comfortable, like sleeping in a cozy nest It was a magical experience away from the chaos modern life can sometimes be.
30/06/2019Nicky
We had the most peaceful couple of days with only each other and nature for company. It was perfect! We loved that we had to hike it in with the stuff we needed- it was all part of the adventure.
13/06/2019Nicola
Fantastic. Absolutely loved it. The remoteness is incredible and James has thought everything through so thoroughly.
07/06/2019Stepj
We parked and walked the miles to the treehouse, the walk was beautiful! We arrived early evening and really enjoyed setting up the fire pit and playing scrabble as it got dark. The sleeping pod was so cosy & comfy! The treehouse is beautiful! So well made and felt a bit like a hobbit house in the trees! Waking up to birdsong was lovely, we enjoyed breakfast in the sun, cooked breakfast using the gas stove. The fridge is a great asset as we were able to bring sausages and bacon with us! We stayed 2 nights but could have done with another 2! It is such a peaceful, private place to be! Definitely for the 'wild at heart,' out door showering and a compost loo were the only things which made it feel like camping, the rest was luxury! We will definitely be planning a trip back again soon!

An amazing off grid peaceful and quiet get away
23/05/2019Victoria
Come here to be away from it all on your own hillside in a suspended treehouse, masterfully carved by James. Cook on the campfire, enjoy the views from the deck and cosy up at night with only the sound of the wind in the trees. You're totally off-grid and back to nature and will feel all the better for it.

It was totally incredible! It was truly beyond our expectations, we kept saying how magical it felt, being so secluded in such a beautiful spot (and no cars around felt very special)

30/06/2023Sarah

The treehouse location was as described, beautiful and exceptionally well made - congratulations to James. The weather wasn't always on our side but suitable cover was provided.

Lovely quiet spot hidden in the trees, ideal for a few days outdoor living and cycling the lost lanes of Wiltshire.

It was absolutely perfect, everything has been arranged with such consideration we will definitely be coming back for longer next year. Also, just to mention, we were incredibly lucky with the weather.

Truly magical experience - we absolutely loved our time at the Puckshipton Treehouse. It was incredibly peaceful and romantic. James’ craftmanship is extremely impressive.

Such a lovely retreat away from modern life in the trees! I was a female on my own and felt safe and relaxed. The sleeping pod was very cozy, and it was lovely and quiet. The yoga mat on hand was great so I didn't have to carry down my own.

Our stay at the tree house was unique and rustic! We felt very humbled to be showering from a bucket in a tree and were very impressed by James handiwork!

Fabulous!

We had the most peaceful couple of days with only each other and nature for company. It was perfect! We loved that we had to hike it in with the stuff we needed- it was all part of the adventure.

Fantastic. Absolutely loved it. The remoteness is incredible and James has thought everything through so thoroughly.

Come here to be away from it all on your own hillside in a suspended treehouse, masterfully carved by James. Cook on the campfire, enjoy the views from the deck and cosy up at night with only the sound of the wind in the trees. You're totally off-grid and back to nature and will feel all the better for it.

It was totally incredible! It was truly beyond our expectations, we kept saying how magical it felt, being so secluded in such a beautiful spot (and no cars around felt very special)
